"FLYYYYY WAKE UPPP."
Fly groaned as he opened his eyes, to see Stella jumping on the end of his bed excitedly.
"Honeys here, Honeys here, HONEYS HERE!"
"Ok Stella, Ok!" Fly laughed, picking her up over his shoulders putting her down outside his room. "Keep her company whilst I get ready, ok?"
"Okay Fly." Stella giggled as she ran back downstairs.
"Flys just getting ready." Stella happily exclaimed as she skipped towards Honey before taking her hand and pulling her into the garden. "Come on, let's see Sasha!"
"Okay Princess Stella." Honey chuckled as she let the sweet little girl pull her into the garden.
Sasha had a little stable in the back garden and quite a bit of room to exercise, Stella cherished this beautiful little dot of a pony, well... sea-pony-horse more than anything. Maybe as much as Fly cherishes Honey, little does she know.
"Hi Sasha!" Stella greeted her with a big embrace, "Honeys here!"
Honey petted and gave affection to sweet Sasha, she really loved receiving pets off everyone in the family.
"Hello stranger." A familiar voice said to Honey.
"Oh, hello Chuck!" Honey excitedly ran to him, holding him in a tight embrace. "So happy to see you again."
"You too, how're you been?"
"Same old really, you?"
"I've been good, looking forward to spending the summer with you all... Where's Fly?" Chuck questioned, realising his witty cousin wasn't around.
"He's getting ready." Stella told him.
"Getting ready for what?"
"For the beach, Chuckles. Didn't think you were seeing the Professor without us, did you?" Fly interrupted proudly, pulling him in for a side hug.
"Wait- wha-? YOU'RE coming too? Am I missing something here?" Chuck asked in shock.
He knew how bad Fly's PTSD had been in the past and was shocked to hear him say 'I'm coming to the beach with you'. It was nice and he couldn't of felt more proud of his cousin.
"Of course, I need to face up to things to get over them... right?" Fly replied.
"Am I coming too?" Stella asked in a charming tone, as if she was already to begging to come with those adorable and persuasive eyes.
"Of course! Go and get Sasha you can ride her on the beach." Honey insisted.
Stella and Sasha squealed with excitement as she got Sasha's saddle and reins ready.
Fly turned to Honey as soon as she spoke, only realising how beautiful she looked. How her light green dress hugged her figure, her eyes glistening in the sun almost reflecting me and how she put her hair in a half up hair do with a green bow that matched her dress. She really was an angel to him.
"Hellooo, back to earth Fly?" Chuck clicked his fingers until he snapped out of his trance.
"I know Honey looks pretty as always, but shall we get a move on?" Chuck suggested.
Fly went bright red, causing Stella and Honey to giggle.
"Come on Stella, mount Sasha and I'll lead you there." Honey softly instructed to which Stella listened.
The group took the 10 minute walk down to the beach, and Fly froze as soon as his shoe touched the sand. Honey noticed his anxiety and held his hand, which made Fly jump.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm here, we're all here." She assured.
Fly's heart was beating rapidly, but Honeys touch calmed his wild thoughts. As long as she was there, he was safe. She was his safe place.
"She's my safe place" Flys conscious reminded him.
"Come on, one step at a time." She gently pulled his hand, resulting in him taking each step with her.
Honey guided Fly to a flat rock they sat on so they could keep an eye on Stella and Sasha.
"I'm going to the Professor, just come up when you're ready." Chuck said.
"Sure thing." Fly faintly smiled.
As Chuck walked slowly towards the Professors lab, Fly started to fumble with his shorts nervously as he heard the waves crashing on the shore.
"She's my safe place." He reminded himself.
"You're doing so well Fly, it's okay." Honey reminded him.
Fly's anxiety started to settle, he actually missed the sound of the ocean. It was beautiful, but what happened to him in the depths of the sea wasn't beautiful at all.
"You think so?"
"I know so... TAG you're it!"
Honey got up in a flash, running towards Sasha and Stella.
"HEY! THATS CHEATING!" Fly shouted playfully before chasing after her.
Fly chased Honey, Stella and Sasha as laughter filled the salty air as they continued to play Tag by the waves. He wasn't so fussed about it anymore, he was distracted.
She distracted him.
Honey threw off her white ballerina shoes onto the sand before running into the waves with Stella and Sasha, kicking the water and laughing. Fly stood still for a moment but it was not because he was scared, it was the way she laughed and squealed when the waves splashed any higher than her knees, the way she played with Stella and adored her as much as I did, the way her hair effortlessly blew in the wind, they way she innocently licks her lips and smiled afterwards. She was from heaven.
Fly snapped out of his trance, throwing his trainers onto the sand before running into the waves and picking her up from behind.
"Gotcha!" Fly laughed.
Honey squealed in excitement as Stella and Sasha laughed.
"You did it!" Honey pointed out excitedly.
"I did, all because of you. Thank you." Fly smiled.
Honey playfully ruffled his hair, before squishing his cheeks with her hand whilst laughing.
"It's still quite overwhelming, I've still got a bit more to get over." Fly admitted.
"And that's okay. Take your time, baby steps."
"She is my safe place." He thought.
The sun started to set and the tide slowly came in, Fly led the way to the Professors lab. Fly hadn't been in there since he turned human and it was quite nerve racking, but Honey didn't know he hadn't been there ever since the incident. But he didn't feel so bad with her around.
Making their way up the steps, the Professor came to the door.
"Hello children. Ah, Fly! I've missed you dear boy. Oh, you've bought your girlfriend!"
Fly blushed Scarlett and nervously laughed, whilst Honey smiled shyly at him. This made Stella giggle.
"Come in, come in! Ah, Stella and Sasha so lovely to see you!" Professor Mackrill insisted with excitement.
Chuck was sitting at a desk full of papers and his laptop, muttering science nonsense to himself.
"I think we're all done here, Professor!" Chuck announced.
"Oh children, I forgot to ask before you leave. Would you all be interested in coming to my science research presentation here in the lab next week? Please bring your parents too." Professor asked Fly and Chuck.
"We'd love to come!" Fly smiled along with Chuck agreeing with an adamant nod.
"See you next week, Children. See you tomorrow Chuck."
"See you tomorrow, Professor!" Chuck replied, leading the others out down the stairs.
"Oh, Fly!" The Professor called.
Fly whipped his head round the corner. "Yes?"
"Your little lady is more than welcome to come along too." He grinned.
"Uhhh, sure." Fly chuckled, before shutting the door behind him.
"What did he say?" Honey delicately asked.
"That you're more than welcome to come too." He smiled.
She smiled in return.
"She is my safe place."
