Kagome waited for him in the doorway, bow in her hand with an arrow notched.
As soon as Darren entered the alley, the battle began.
RV attacked with his hooks, and Kagome fired her arrows at him, driving him back.
"The tasty priestess wants to play!" RV lunged for her.
"NO!" Darren lunged and struck a harsh blow in RV's stomach.
But to no avail. RV swung his hooks at Darren and—was struck back by another arrow.
Kagome swung her gaze upward. Steve.
"No!" Kagome cried, but he glared at her, reminding her of her duty.
"Cmon, hurry!" Steve grabbed Darren and Kagome and dragged them along to his apartment. "You'll be safe here."
Yeah, sure. Safe.
Kagome sat next to Darren, her body angled protectively, and her hand on her bow with a notched arrow.
