He cannot believe his identity has slipped up so easily. He was angry not with his teammates but with himself. He should have been careful. Even though he heals faster than humans he should not have his secret slip up like that.
He was punching the punching bag furiously to relieve his tension and anger. Then there was a brilliant flash of light and a very beautiful woman stepped into the cave her godly aura seems to brighten up the dark cave. Her wise grey eyes while were fixated on Bruce.
"What do you want Athena?" Bruce asked.
"Why are you so tense Bruce? It was inevitable they would one day know who you are. Besides you should trust your friends" Athena said her eyes sparkling in amusement.
"I wanted to prolong it as far as possible. I already have the entire batclan , birds of prey and teen titans under my command. I do not need justice league. I am only a part time member to keep justice league in check nothing more" Bruce replied.
"They are powerful allies Bruce. Just give them a chance." Athena said experasated by the man's stubbornness.
"We had this argument before Athena" Bruce replied.
"Yes but earlier they didn't know who you were under the mask. I am sure Diana recognised you immediately after seeing your face you must provide them with answers they need" Athena said.
"I owe them no answers" Bruce said
"You must tell them or I will" Athena threatened.
Bruce contemplated of what he should do. He has been in justice league for six months and he knew that they were very powerful as well loyal allies. Besides Athena would tell them anyways so he decided.
"Fine I will them all about my base of operations" Bruce answered reluctantly
Athena's eyes sparkled with excitement "I knew you would take the right course of action".
Bruce shook his head and returned to his punching bag.
"You know you can spar with me to relieve your tension" Athena said
"Deal" Bruce smirked.
Watchtower cafeteria (three days later)
"Do you think batman will come for the meeting?" Shayera asked.
"I don't know. who knows what goes in his big brain" Dinah replied.
"I think he will come for this meeting" Diana replied
"And how would you know that?" Shayera asked.
"Just a gut feeling I have" Diana replied.
"Come on girls you are going to be late if you keep talking like that" Wally said as he disappeared in a blur." The women stood up as they moved to the main room in watchtower. Superman and flash were already there talking to each other. The ladies took their seat in the round table as they waited for the rest of the leaguers. Green lantern came after five minutes as they waited for batman to arrive.
"Let's wait for five minutes more if batman does not arrive we will start without him" superman said
As he said these words the door swished open to reveal the dark foreboding image of dark knight of Gotham. he strode past them without looking at anybody. And took his seat at the head of the table between superman and Wonder Woman.
"So now we are all here. I will like to inform you about our situation. Jo'nn " superman said.
Jo'nn inserted the pen drive in the table as series of images came upon the table. A man with a thick black moustache a scar in his cheek came upon the screen.
"This man's name is Sam Wilson. He is a weapon' arms and drugs dealer. He is hosting a annual gala at New York. The plan I have devised includes that one of us to go on a incognito and gather information about what we are dealing with now." Jo'nn said.
"Fine then. Who amongst us should go? I am volunteering if you want me" Flash replied.
"You cannot go alone flash. An unattached male will attract a lot more attention then necessary. You need a date" batman replied.
"No worries bats. We already have three most gorgeous ladies here. Sure one of them would be interested in me" flash replied cheekily.
"I am in a relationship flash. So the answer is no" canary said.
"My wings are very noticeable as you can see. I cannot do incognito missions" Shayera said much to John Stewart's relief.
"You also cannot keep your mouth shut. So you are not going flash" Diana said.
"Aww you guys are so mean" flash said.
"What about you superman? Can't you go in a incognito mission" John Stewart suggested.
Superman immediately became uncomfortable "Are you sure? They will probably recognise my face" superman replied nervously.
"Not as Clark Kent they won't" batman replied smugly. He always loved to make superman squirm.
Superman then glared at the dark knight. Who was sitting impassively.
"You have a crush on Lois lane? You don't want her to get the wrong idea do you?" Batman replied with a smirk.
Superman was shocked " How did you know?"
"I am batman" batman replied with confidence.
"How about you lantern?" Flash said.
"I am not interested" John replied. While glancing at Shayera at the corner of his eyes.
"What about you Jo'nn?" Superman asked.
"I do not possess human perception. My social skills are also lacking. I am not a good at these types of missions" the Martian replied.
"So that leaves batman" Shayera said with a smile on her face.
"I am busy in Gotham" batman tried to brush it off.
"Really? The crimes in Gotham city has been an all time low this time around" Diana said smirking.
Batman thought back to the promise he had made with Athena and replied "Fine. I will do it"
The leaguers were shocked to hear this. Black canary found her voice and said "Who are you? And what have you done with our batman".
"It is me canary. I am not a clone. I just decided to be a more people's person" batman replied enjoying the way the leaguers metaphorical jaws hit the ground.
"Regardless. I still do need a date. Which I leave the decision to you all. Meeting adjourned" batman said as he rose from his chair and went back to Gotham.
