Elena let out a small sigh as she passed the 'Welcome to Mystic Falls' sign. She had been preparing to do this ever since she left, but now that she was here she wasn't sure if she could do it.
Elena shook her head and drew her attention back to the road. She needed to stay focused on the task at hand. If she allowed herself to get distracted the result would be catastrophic.
She grabbed her bags and walked into her new apartment. Elena looked around the apartment with a frown, it oddly reminded her of Alaric's apartment. Without a second thought, Elena took out her phone and dialed the number that had been given to her.
"So, you've made it to Mystic Falls?" A voice asked in an inconceivable tone.
"Very funny, Leo." Elena responded indignantly.
"Don't be like that Mia." Leo complained.
Elena huffed in response.
"Don't forget I am the only person who will help you." Leo added with a smirk on his face.
"I'm sure I could find another." Elena said bluntly.
"No one other than me will help someone who uses fake names and identities." Leo commented.
"I already told you not to mention it." Elena growled.
"How about this, you tell me your real name and I'll give you the information you want." Leo bargained.
Elena scoffed and hung up the phone. She was not surprised when he called her back, it was their routine. He would make her mad or simply annoyed, then he would always come back, or in this case, he would call back. Elena sighed and answered the phone.
"I was only joking, I know you keep your identity secret for a reason. I only hope that one day you'll trust me enough to tell me about it." Leo explained.
"Where is it?" Elena asked.
"My guess is that it's in a mansion." Leo announced.
"And?" Elena asked, sensing his hesitation.
"I heard a name, but I'm not sure if I heard it right." Leo informed.
"What name?" Elena questioned.
"Klaus." Leo revealed in a worried tone.
"You've got to be kidding me." Elena groaned.
"Mia, are you sure you want to keep looking for it? Personally, I don't believe that this is worth the risk if he's who I think he is." Leo stated.
"I can't just give up... I need to do this, Leo." Elena assured.
"I don't know about this." Leo said nervously.
"I'll be fine." Elena assured, hanging up the phone.
Elena huffed as she fell back on her bed. She laid there for an hour, pondering what to do next. Elena absolutely did not need or want to be discovered by her friends, but at the moment she didn't have a choice. She chose to go to the only person who wouldn't tell the others.
Elena walked into Mystic Falls High School glancing around cautiously as she walked through the somewhat empty hallway. Even though she had on a disguise she was still worried that someone might see right through it. Elena quickly made her way to the front office.
Jeremy was sitting in his social studies class trying to stay awake when the intercom came on announcing that he was being checked out. Jeremy confusedly stood up and walked slowly down the hall.
Jeremy automatically knew that it had to have been a vampire, most likely Stefan. For a moment he wondered if it was some kind of emergency, or if they had finally found out how to bring his sister back to life.
Jeremy shifted uncomfortably when he saw that the door to the front office had been closed and the blinds had been drawn. He hesitantly opened the door and paused when he saw a blond-haired vampire feeding on the school's secretary.
The blond-haired vampire pulled away from the bleeding woman, looking at Jeremy through her tinted sunglasses. A small smile appeared on her face when she saw him, making Jeremy more uncomfortable.
The girl bit her wrist and shoved it into the Secretary's mouth before she cautiously walked towards Jeremy. Jeremy was frozen, as much as he wanted to get the hell out of there his body wouldn't let him. He couldn't help but think that something about this girl was familiar.
Without warning the girl pulled Jeremy into a hug. Jeremy was about to push her away when he felt a teardrop on his shoulder.
"Who are you?" Jeremy asked, snapping Elena back into reality.
Elena quickly backed away from him reminding herself that she was here for a reason.
"Come with me." Elena demanded.
"El-" Jeremy began to question, only stopping when she placed a finger on his lips.
Before he got the chance to say anything else, Elena grabbed his arm and sped them out of the school. Jeremy looked around the apartment before turning back to her. Elena took the blonde wig and her sunglasses off, tossing them onto the floor.
"You're alive?" Jeremy questioned.
Elena nodded sitting down on the black leather couch. Jeremy eyed her cautiously before joining her on the couch.
"Promise me you won't say a word about me being alive to anyone." Elena begged.
"Why?" Jeremy asked.
"Just promise me, Jer." Elena demanded.
"Okay, okay I promise." Jeremy said reluctantly.
"Where have you been?" Jeremy asked, causing Elena to tense up.
"Around." Elena answered vaguely.
The room grew silent as Elena fidgeted with the bracelet Zoey made for her.
"I need you to do something for me." Elena informed, breaking the silence.
"You show up out of nowhere, pull me out of school, demand that I keep a secret, and now you're asking me to do something for you." Jeremy scoffed in disbelief.
Elena clenched her fists, trying to keep her composure.
"Jeremy, I'm only trying to keep you safe." Elena explained.
"Keep me safe? What about the others, are you keeping them safe too?" Jeremy asked sarcastically.
"I am." Elena confirmed.
"By making us believe you're dead?" Jeremy hissed.
"It's better that way." Elena confessed.
"Bullshit." Jeremy protested.
"It isn't up to you." Elena growled as her eyes turned golden.
"Elena." Jeremy said cautiously.
"What?" Elena snapped.
"Your eyes." Jeremy answered.
Elena paused and closed her eyes, trying to relax.
"This is what I'm talking about, I can't control myself yet." Elena lied.
She felt bad for lying to him, but it had to be done
She refused to involve him any more than she already had. That's another way she had changed, normally she'd try her best not to involve him at all.
"Will you help me?" Elena asked.
"Yes." Jeremy answered.
Elena smiled at him before she turned and pulled an old scroll out of her bag. Elena hesitantly placed the scroll in his hands waiting for him to open it.
Jeremy eyed Elena as he slowly opened the scroll. He narrowed his eyes at the drawing of what looked like a dagger. The dagger-like weapon had wings etched on the handle other than that it looked pretty basic.
"What is that?" Jeremy asked.
Elena bit her lip, unsure if she should tell Jeremy the name of the weapon.
"It's the weapon I need you to find." Elena answered vaguely.
"What's it called?" Jeremy asked curiously.
"I'd be putting you in danger if I told you." Elena responded.
"Why can't you find it?" Jeremy asked.
"Because it's in Klaus's mansion." Elena sighed.
"And you don't want him to know you're alive." Jeremy stated, receiving a nod from Elena.
"How did you find out where it was?" Jeremy asked.
"Does it matter?" Elena questioned.
"Yes." Jeremy answered.
"I have magic." Elena answered, not wanting to tell anyone about Leo.
"Oh, I thought Helen-" Jeremy stated, stopping when Elena gave him a harsh look.
Elena didn't trust Helen at all. She knew that Helen is only a version of her, but that was the problem. There are many times when she can't even trust herself, so why should she ever trust Helen?
"What's with that look?" Jeremy asked.
"It's nothing, don't worry about it." Elena assured.
"I'm glad you're back." Jeremy admitted after a long silence.
"I don't think you should be." Elena confessed.
"Why not?" Jeremy asked.
"Doesn't matter." Elena answered.
Before Jeremy could say something else Elena's phone started to ring. Elena picked up her phone and groaned when she saw who it was.
"Don't say anything." Elena demanded, before answering the phone.
"What do you want?" Elena asked.
"Are you alone?" Leo asked.
Elena eyed Jeremy for a moment.
"No." Elena answered.
"I would normally wait but this is something I think you might want to hear as soon as possible." Leo said with a sigh.
"One second." Elena said, putting the phone on mute.
"Do you think you can find the weapon?" Elena asked.
"I'll try my best... you never told me why you needed it." Jeremy commented.
"That's dangerous information, Jeremy. I won't risk your life." Elena explained.
"I guess I should get going." Jeremy said.
Elena nodded before hugging him one last time.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you, Jer." Elena murmured.
"I could say the same thing." Jeremy responded walking out of her apartment.
Elena waited a moment before she closed the door and unmuted the phone.
"I'm alone." Elena notified.
"Someone put a hit out on a Bennet witch and a vampire. Their names are Bonnie Bennett and Lorenzo st John." Leo revealed.
"Someone put a hit out on a Bennet witch and a vampire. Their names are Bonnie Bennett and Lorenzo st John." Leo revealed.
Elena gritted her teeth and tightened her fists.
"Why should I care?" Elena questioned, sounding indifferent to the situation.
"Mia, I may not know your real name, but I know who you are as a person. There's also the fact that you saved Zoey, who just so happens to be a Bennett witch." Leo explained.
"What does that have to do with anything. She was a child who was being sacrificed, I pitied her." Elena argued.
"You also refused to harm Bennett witches, I wonder if you have some sort of a connection to them." Leo commented.
"Watch your mouth, I won't hesitate to kill you no matter how much I enjoy your company." Elena growled.
"Is this your way of admitting that you like me?" Leo joked.
"Shut up." Elena muttered, fighting down the smile that was trying to make its way onto her face.
"You're going to go help them." Leo predicted.
"Am I?" Elena questioned.
"Yes. After all, you're not one to miss the opportunity to kill." Leo replied.
"Bye Leo." Elena said as she hung up the phone.
Elena sighed as she threw herself onto the couch wondering what she was going to do. It wasn't a hard decision to make, in fact, she already had it made up in her mind what she was going to do before she hung up the phone.
