I walk over and stand on the circular metal plate. A glass cylinder lowers around me and the cylinder begins to rise. For maybe a few seconds, I'm in darkness and I can feel the metal plate pushing me out of the cylinder, into the open air.

Then I hear the prominent announcer, Claudius Templesmith, as his voice booms all around me.

"Ladies and gentlemen, let the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games begin!"

As I stand on the metal circle bewildered, I notice that there are many pine trees around me and there's a backpack with a slingshot attached to it about sixty feet from me.

Gong!

I know what to do. I sprint to get hold of the backpack with the slingshot and run for the trees before someone can kill me. I am one of the easiest targets, but since I am small in size I can outrun them and I can hop from one tree to the other which they can't do. I find a pine tree and climb to the top. The slingshot easily detaches from the backpack. I check the backpack and there's an extra pair of socks, a waterskin and iodine. I stayed there for a day.

By the next morning, my throat starts to burn from thirst. When I go and try to explore the place, I find a lake nearby. I clean the water and drink it. I pack a little in that waterskin and for the next two days after that, I stay on the top of the pine trees.

However, on the third day, I see Katniss, the girl on fire. The girl who volunteered for her younger sister. The girl who got 11 in the training session. But wait, she's trapped. The Careers are waiting for her down the tree. And what's that.. on top of her head. It's..it's a wasp nest about fifteen feet above her head.

Should I let her be? Should I help her or run away? It could be a good thing for me, right? I will be able to win and give my family a better life but if I save her, she will win this game and probably kill me. As the thoughts flow through my mind, my eyes catch something very familiar… it's a Mockingjay pin on her collar. Why does she have a Mockingjay pin? Suddenly she starts staring at me. She can see me. I don't know if I can help her but I will let her know. I can't let the Mockingjay die. I open my small hands and point at the wasp nest so that she can know what's there. Even before she can see me I hide behind one of the trees in the distance.

The next morning, I hear a soft sound, I realise it is Katniss. Why's she calling out to me? I think she didn't understand what I pointed at earlier. I look at her and I point at the wasp nest again. She holds up a knife and makes a sawing motion. That's clever. I nod my head and start to leap from one tree to another as soon as possible. I think she was alerting me. However, I don't know what happens after that. I don't know if Katniss is okay but is it my job to worry? Should I really care about her? I climb the tree and sit there for a while before the thought of Katniss dying makes my heartache. So I go to the same place where I left Katniss.

I sprint to that place and hear "Run!" That's Peeta's voice. What is he doing with her? Is he trying to kill her?

When I reach there, I catch sight of Katniss as she falls into a small pit. I climb the tree nearby and keep waiting for her to awake. She doesn't wake up till night-time.. All I can think is that she is dead. But if she is dead then why is the hovercraft not here yet? While I think about her, my head spins and the only thing that I want to do is sleep. So, I slowly drift off into a deep sleep.
