After the War

Ch. 2 The Todoroki Family Part One

I would like to welcome you all back to the second chapter of my After the War story in My Hero Academia. I am putting this out now that I will not be doing the chapter about Hawk's story but if you have read that manga chapter then you will know his story.

The chapter you are about to read will be the first of two parts that focus on the Todoroki family and everything that helps explain Dabi's story and his departure from the family. You will probably cry and see where the family goes from here on out.

The reason I have been absent is because of grad school and other activities that I have had going on but now have time to write and will get back to my current stories and future stories as well. See you at the end for my post chapter thoughts.

It has been two days since the war ended and things are still worse because of the panic that has caused urban areas to be thrown into because of everything that has happened. Society was barely able to process the destruction that has occurred and the small villains that escaped did not help the situation at all. The nomu was the final nail in the coffin.

Hawks had explained to endeavor that rumors of the nomu sightings had been increasing and the people were unsure what to believe. The concept of unhuman beings had been eating away at society's consciousness since the first attack at U.A. and as the rumors grew, so did people's anxieties and fears. The frustration built up over time until the levee burst.

We see the cider house gang robbing a business and they were part of the Shian Prison escapees. The leader said "grab the cash and the food too." He also said "we get to walk around in broad daylight and it seems like fate is taking it easy one us."

The owner of store comes in at the moment and says not on my watch to which the leader of the gang says that the civilians are fighting back and it seems like the store owner has a support item. The rest of the civilians come in at the moment and say we are going to stand up and protect our city.

The hero wash is rushing to the scene because he got reports of the cider house gang attacking and looting a store. The people decided to take matters into their own hands to defend themselves by using tools and weapons available on the market. The problem is that the civilians were untrained in engaging in armed combat. The battles were not contained and often incurred excessive damage and casualties and we can see in these two days, these incidents were already a common occurrence.

The people who couldn't leave were waiting inside and because of that they were dragged into the crossfire of the battles occurring between civilians and villains. Wash worked on getting the injured people to the hospital and cleaning the infected wounds. The rank of heroes began to thin.

Heroes of their own renown talent began to resign including an older one who saved plenty of people from his young days as a hero but had continued to serve regardless and with all of this happening, he decided to fall on his own sword and resign. The number nine hero Yoroi Musha decided to announce his abrupt retirement and all he wanted was love and respect. The people saw this as him quitting on his own job, he was just dodging responsibility, what will happen now.

The war and the backlash from the people caused many heroes to abandon their careers. The reason people signed up is because the society was peaceful was the baseline assumption but now, for better or worse the meaning of the word "Hero" was being put to the test. We can see a sign on a statue of All Might saying I am not Here.

The heroes were put through a sieve whether that was for better or worse. People were placing that responsibility on the shoulders of one man in particular. The nurse told him your son and the others are out of the woods and somehow you managed to pull through.

Endeavor is breaking but his head is still in a fog because the anesthesia has not worn off yet but somehow I am still alive. The words Dabi or his son Touya said to him are stuck inside his head which were "Let's Tango! A dance with your son, here in hell." Endeavor says "he must have known I'd survive this because he knows exactly what sort of man I am." "I froze in place and because of that for the second time, a son of mine was in mortal danger, and I found myself paralyzed." Best Jeanist may have been able to disprove one part of the speech but he could not erase the greater truth.

Dabi said in the video "but alas I was a failed creation." "It didn't take long for him to reject me. I was tossed aside and forgotten." "At his core, he is addicted to the limelight. A man who wallows in his own small mindedness and self importance."

Endeavor would go on to sayi it is all ture, I'm just reaping everything I've sowed. I might get to live on but Endeavor died back there. My son's a mass murderer yet… I can't fight him. Shoto started to say D but did not finish. Endeavor said Shotooo! Fuyumi said "dad." "Good your up and we're all here together." Endeavor asked if they were all ok. Natsuo says "crying over what huh?"

Endeavor sys "sorry… I'm so sorry." "I'm sorry… I didn't realize until now these regrets… This guilt … It's too late to matter. My heart its… That is when Rei shows up and says "yes what about your heart?" She goes on to say "those regrets and guilt. the rest of us borne that burden much more than you have." Endeavor asks Rei why are you here? She says "I'm here to talk about our family and about our son Touya.

We have reached the end of the first part that will explore the history of the Todoroki family and see what happened to Touya and what led to him to becoming the villain Dabi.

I apologize for not updating this story but like I said in the beginning I have been busy with schooling and other activities but now have time to update this story.
