Royai Galore Notebook
By a Royai obsessed fangirlEntry 2 ~ Dutch Braids
Riza had always had a specific hairstyle. From her short cut hair when she was young, to the length she had now. She had always kept it loose until it eventually got too much to look professional. From then on, it had been the same hair clip. One her grandpa Grumman gifted her to be more precise. The style became her signature, and a certain Colonel Mustang was begining to get a little underwhelmed by it.
Dont get me wrong, he adored her in every way even her signiture style. The way her hair would bunch up with no imperfections and sprout out of the top like alfalfa. However, on this occasion he couldnt help thinking of her hair... all day staring at her warm blonde hair.
That last night, he had visited his adopted mother's bar to see his family and sisters. Vanessa had been there, with her hair made tightly into two long Dutch braids that snaked down her back. A childhood hairstyle beloved to Roy. As the only boy in the home, he spent a considerable ammount of time participating in hair and makeup with his sisters. As a young girl herself, Vanessa was always in Dutch or French braids she adored them simply because her little brother had worked so hard on them.
It was then at his desk he thought of it. The perfect solution to the biggest thing on his mind. Riza Hawkeye in Dutch braids. The others had left for their lunch break already and Riza had been left alone to read to herself. Seeing the perfect opportunity, he went into his drawers and pinched two of the spare hair bobbles he kept handy(In case mainly Fullmetal's broke which wasnt too uncommon. They were also useful for keeping his pens in order.) He walked up behind his Lieutenant and unclipped her hair. She jolted away and put her hand throuh her hair as she felt it snap. Looking up at her Colonel confused and startled by his sudden action.
"Sir, what are you doing?!" Roy looked back at her holding the bobbles in his hand with a pleading look.
"Pleeeaaaasssseeee... let me do your hair. The others are on a lunch break anyway."
Eventually, she gave in, just wanting to read her book. On the terms he didnt completely ruin her hair or make it look stupid. A sparkle twinkled in his eyes as he excitedly brushed her hair with the one she provided.
She had never had her hair played with before. Or even styled for that matter. He was so gentle and she found herself relaxing into his touch. Like all the tensions in her body washed away as her hair was sewn, weaved and tied into twin Dutch braids.
Admiring his handiwork, he reached into his desk draw once more and waltzed back over enthusiastically. One at a time, he held the ends of the braids in his hands and cliped fake flowers onto the bobbles. (Another trinket he found he had laying around)
"Ok, all done! Now who's a pretty Lieutenant? You are!" he celebrated. He presented her with a mirror excitedly. She smiled contently.
"Thank you sir. It looks beautiful." She replied with a calm smile on her face. She felt so relaxed for some reason. She had never felt like this before. Not on this level. not even as a child.
Just then, the rest of the team gradually trudged back inside after their lunch break was over. Upon seeing Hawkeye, they stood there still. Shocked but delighted by what they saw of her beautiful hair.
"Woah! Lieutenant your hair looks so awesome." Feury exclaimed with a blush to his cheeks.
"Yeah, its hot." Havoc commented with a smirk. Earning an eye from both Hawkeye and Mustang. But the game alchemist couldn't disagree with his second lieutenant. Those braids certainly were... in Havoc's terms...Hot.
