I opened my eyes, the skin on my back erupting in chills. Something or someone was here. I sit up and look around remembering I was in someone's home. The lights were off in here but through the crack of the door, a yellow light glowed. My heart raced as my ears picked up on the sound of footsteps. The person approaching was cautious, if i were human i wouldn't hear a thing. I begin to sense a familiar feeling. It's coming from this creature. They have human elements but primal one as well. I instantly felt curious.
I stand from the bed not making a sound. I felt no threat. Maybe this person will just let me go? If they did give a magical, primal essence, I would have just opened the window and escaped. Even if they tried to chase me, I'd be able to get away-if they were human, of course. I stood my ground. The door opened slowly. The large shadow of a figure with muscles appeared. I see bare feet first, then long tanned legs with raggedly cropped shorts. My eyes traveled further over an abbed stomach, hardened chest and then a stern looking face. The man before me was definitely special. His eyes were dark, both concerned and defensive.
"Who are you? How did you get into my home?" The man broke the silence with an authoritative voice. I felt it in my own chest. I inhaled sharply as my heart pounded in my chest. I am unable to tell if I'm afraid or excited to see what he is. For years Fae has proven to have a cunning, curious side. That part of me never made an appearance. Until now.
"My name is Isabella. I am a Fae, or a spirit. What are you?" My feet stalked forward. The man did not like my actions. He growled in the most inhuman way. He tensed and stood up straighter then puffed out his chest. I've seen this action before. Animals do this when challenged. Is he a shapeshifter. What kind is he?
"Stay back. You've invaded my home. I don't think it wise to try and approach me." He tried to threaten me. He knew I was also different but he seemed to be struggling to figure me out. His eyes got more defensive but curiosity shone brightly.\
"Sam?" A woman's voice called. SMaller feet fell behind him. I saw that form of a woman peeking over his shoulder. My eyes traveled to meet hers. I gasped when I saw three gashes down her face. I could tell they were the claws of an animal. Was it a bear? The woman gasped as well. She looked concerned as well. She was human for sure. She gave off the scent of one eye; she\ had such an earthy aura. They were mated-they way he stood protectively before her the way the electricity passed from her to him as if her whole being gave him power.
"Stay back, Em. She could be dangerous." Dangerous? I wouldn't harm a fly! It's literally against my nature. My annoyance grew and I huffed in response.
"I would never hurt her, even if I wanted to. I promise I have just here to rest. I can leave." Iraise my hands. Clearly I am seen as a threat compared to the almost 7 foot tall muscle of a man in front of me. I mean, I technically am a threat to him. For animals, their natural reaction to a threat is to become defensive to an apparent threat unknown to them.
"You should-'' He started but the woman brushed past him the best she could since his entire fram blocked the entrance on the door.
"You broke in because you were tired?" She looked me up and down. "You must've been hungry too because my apple is gone." SHe crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow at me. She wasn't threatened by me at all. SHe also gave off a motherly vibe just now. My heart clenched as I thought about my own mother. On how much she reminded me of her.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I've traveled far. I promise I meant no harm. I actually planned to leave before you got home-not that i knew when that would be." I looked at my feet as I replied to her. They were covered in dirt and the cotton gress I stole, still covered in dirt and torn to pieces brushed at my ankles. The other Fae would be making fun of me right now bowing my head to a human. Allowing a human to make me feel like a child. I'm 103 years old and she looked no more than 24 years old.
"Where is your family? Your home? Are you running away?" The woman's voice softened. Even though I'm older I look no younger than 18. My face still held so much youth.
"Emily, get back honey. You're getting too close." The man-Sam spoke out. He walked forward putting both hands on her shoulders. His demeanor was less tense but I knew he was still ready for anything.
"She said she wouldn't hurt me, Sam. Look at her. She's not doing anything. She's not a threat." Emily finished scolding Sam and turned back to me. "Is there anyone we can call for you? I'm sure someone is looking for you." She has empathy in her voice.
"No one is. There's no one to call." My voice broke as my mind flashed images of dead females. My dead parents.
"You said you're a Fake. WHat is that?" Same asked.
"Fairy,or a type of fairy. My kind is sprite. We're natural creatures that reside in forests in small civilizations. We help keep the first alive protecting wildlife and vegetation. There are other kinds of Fae, they are scattered around the world." I lift my head. I'm proud of my purpose.
"That's impossible. A Fairy? I have had an off sense about you but i didn't expect that. What happened to your village to make you leave?" Sam asked.
"My...my village was attacked. By vampires. Red eyes and cloaked bodies. They did speak English. They drank the blood of my people, my family. Fae blood is a rare commodity for vampires. It's more delicious than human blood but it also enhances their abilities and senses. In the past my people were slaves for the vampires until there was one that came every silver moon and golden sun. All fae have the power of the elements. Mine is the earth element but ones born under the golden sun also carry the power of the sun controlling the element of fire as well One born under the power of the silver moon have the power of the tides. Though there are aqua sprites they become strong enough to cause massive hurricanes and blizzards." I took a deep breath. "The last fae born with these powers died 100 years ago while sacrificing themselves for the protection of all creature kinds." I watch both of them. Sam looked as if he didn't believe me. This all sounded like nonsense. Emily's mouth just sat open in awe.
"Then what are you? Are you special?" Sam questioned. Now more curious than defensive. I nod in response.
"Over 100 yeras ago, I was born under the golden sun. I have the powers of the phoenix. When my village was burned down, I was unaffected. Fire has no effect on me. I have the power to choose what my fire effects are. I have the power to change the effectiveness of my fire. I could light you on fire now but you would not feel it, the flames wouldn't even touch your skin but it would surround you." I explained to the best of my ability. It's easier to show than to tell.
"Interesting…," Sam whispered. "Where would you go if you were to leave?" He looked me directly into my eyes.
"I dont know." I said simply. I had nowhere to go. I'd be a nomad moving from place to place-stealing food and sleeping in random beds as I had before.
"You don't have to leave. Sam...he has a group of men that helps protect this land. You'd be protected from vampires here." Emily offered. "We can get you settled in the living room. It's unsafe for you to be out and about alone, which vampires are your biggest threat. They Are our biggest threat too." Emily stated. She stepped forward and touched my shoulder. Sam didn't follow to stop her. He nodded cruelty.
"You would have to be introduced first. We can't have a girl with mystical powers around and not have them know," Sam stated. "We also don't have any extra rooms so we will have to see what we can do for sleeping. Having you sleep on the sofa every night isn't going to be comfortable. Even though Emily's offer stands." Sam left the room. It sounded like he went outside.
I heard the sound of shredding. I looked at EMily and brushed past her. I ran past the living room and to the front door. I gasped and stood on the front porch. A large black wolf stood in front of me. One of the biggest wolves ive ever seen. So he was some kind of werewolf? I've seen wolves but not this kind. The ones I've seen stood on their hind legs like humans. They still have fur that covers their bodies. They had long snouts and fangs. Regardless they were the same.
Sam turned to me briefly then angled his head towards the sky letting out a deep howl. I guess that was his signal for his other friends to come.
Emily had me back inside and showered. She gave me a fresh shirt and pants to wear so I looked more presentable. I looked at myself in the mirror. My chocolate brown eyes looked less dull. My hair was kempt and ran down my back in wet ringlets. My skin was a nice peachy color with freckles scattered across my small nose. My lips were back to their full natural pink-red color. I felt alive again.
I heard heavy footsteps and loud voices coming from outside the house coming in. I'm not sure why i was so nervous. I sighed ready to face the music. I slowly exited the hallway bathroom and made my way towards the living room. There were so many questions being asked "what does she look like? Does she have pointy ears?' Is she tiny? Like tinkerbell? I wonder if she's wearing a cute short dress." I scoffed and made my way to the no-longer opened room. The room had so many large men. EMily sat upon Sam's lap as the men surrounded them finding a place to sit.
"Why don't you ask her? She's right there." Sam said cockily. Eerie one turned towards me.
All of thm men had tanned skin and muscles. They all had the same exact tattoos on their right arm. Same cropped black hair and same worn down cropped shorts to their knees. One man stood out like a sore thumb. He had a dimpled chin, almond eyes and full lips. His build was a little bigger than the others apart from Sam and an angry looking one. He kept his eyes on face. Same as the others but he felt different from them. I felt his energy through the floorboards. It was like electricity. I looked into his eyes trying to figure out what this feeling meant. I saw light in his eyes. My head instantly got hot. My fingertips tingle and my heart raced. Never had I felt such a powerful and natural force.
"Wow," he whispered.
"Wow indeed." Same huffed. "Isabella, this is Jacob. Jacob, this is Isabella. Seems as though you've already become very...acquainted." Sam put a lot of meaning behn=ind his words. I had no clue what he meant by that but it seemed everyone, including Jacob knew what that meant. On que Jacob put his head down as his face turned red.
Hello, Jacob...everyone." I kept my eyes on that beautiful creature for a few more seconds before looking around the room. I would address him after we were all properly introduced.
"My name is Seth! This is my sister Leah." A young boy started happily. He has the sunniest personality. He looked like Jacob but so much younger. They have pups in their pack-interesting. I smiled and turned to Leah who just nodded in my direction and looked carelessly away. I was by no means offended. We didn't know eachother so I expected no less.
I'm embry, this is quil, paul, brady and collin." I smiled at each individual pack member. Paul gave the same response as Leah. Brady and Collin both smile as brightly as Seth did. Embry and Quil smile politely then glanced at Jacob who still had his head down.
"It is very nice to meet you." Isay politely. Everyone felt non threatening. I felt even safer because of Jacob.
"Bells." Jacob whispered.
"Excuse me?" I asked. I wanted to know what he meant.
"Your voice. It sounds like Bells." Jacob finally looked up at me. His eyes were soft and curious. I Stuffed down the urge to touch his cheek. The electricity running from him to me is still flowing.
"Thank you." I whispered.
"So, Sam says you're a fairy." Paul stated. His eyes were challenging. "He gave us the back story while we were on the way here. You definitely feel inhuman. WHere are your wings?" He crossed his arms.
"I have them. I can't let them out here." I stated.
"Then let's head out! I want to see them." Seth said excitedly.
"Okay...let's head outside and I'll show you." I walked outside. I had no reason to avoid letting these people see me. I especially wanted to impress jacob. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's the same feeling animals get when they want to get a mate through talent?
Once I am outside with the others, I make sure we are a few feet away. I close my eyes and I allow my wings to spring free. My back tingles as it happens. I hear the tearing of fabric and realise the shirt Emily gave me is destroyed. I open my eyes and gasp as the shirt still covers the most important parts of my upper half, I still feel exposed. With my wings fully extended, I wrap them around myself. In seconds, Jacob has his back pressed against my wings, His heat running through the tips of my feathers.
Jacob
Though brief, I saw her wings. She was one hell of a creature that's for sure, The sun shined on her and she looked more like an angel than a fairy. Her skin was rosey but the sun made it look like a brighter tanned color. The contract of burnt oranges, yellow and reds scattered her wings in some angles they looked golden when the wind shifted her feathers. I hadn't known that I moved so fast to cover her after the shirt she had on ripped in the back. She was still covered but o refused that anyone saw any other inch of her skin apart from his beautiful face. Everyone stood and stared in awe past me and at any areas that her wings poked out. They were pretty large. Not similar to ones of an angle. They were shorter-it actually looked like she had four. Two smaller ones on the bottom and to larger ones on top forming an 'X'.
I huffed as her feathers ticked my back. I also leaned on her. STanding, she was a foot or so shorter than me. She was perfect.
AN: Hey guys! I want to say thank you to those who have shown interest in my story and to those who reviewed it! My story is going to be a little weird when it comes down to the characteristics of mythical creatures. Fae or Fairies don't all have the same talents in my story as they would when you would normally look up their backgrounds. I wanted Bella to be more special-same for other creatures. You'll see what I mean! But i also just wanted to say thank you for reading! 3
