Chapter 2: After Class Coffee

"So wait, why did you ask me out to get coffee if you don't like it?" Lucy asked curiously. Ozzy took a sip of his lemonade and chuckled.

"Well, I guess I just saw your coffee cup and figured you like it. Sorry if I can't appreciate a cup of hot, bitter bean water." Ozzy replied while shaking his head.

"Its okay, I guess I can see how someone might not like it. That being said I practically run off the stuff."

"I'm more of an energy drinks kind of guy."

Lucy ripped open a packet of sugar and poured it into her 'bitter bean water'. She took a spoon and stirred it for a while before taking a sip. She loved coffee, and despite being a morning person, she needed the stuff to function. Despite being able to afford the coffee from expensive places, she always preferred to make her own at home. Besides, she had a new coffee maker at home, and she loved it. Ozzy loves sweeter drinks like lemonade and other fruit juices. To get that caffeine boost he usually shoots for energy drinks or soda with caffeine in it. Lucy was not into that kind of stuff, she rarely ever consumed foods and beverages with too much sugar.

"You seem kind of young, are you a freshman?" Lucy asked.

"That I am," Ozzy replied, "I'm assuming you are a sophomore." Lucy nodded her head in response to what he said.

"What's your major?"

"Psychology, which probably explains why we are in the same class." Ozzy scratched the back of his head. "You're studying physics, correct?" he asked. Lucy looked at him with confusion.

"How did you know that?" she asked.

"just a hunch," he answered, "plus I think I saw you come out of the science hall, so I just guessed physics." Lucy smiled, she liked men who were perceptive. And him being in psychology made it all the better. Perhaps he would actually understand her, unlike a lot other people. Ozzy seemed intelligent, in an emotional way.

"So you want to become a therapist or something?" Lucy asked.

"Something like that. But also I've always wanted to be an actor. It's just hard to get into that this day and age." Ozzy said.

"You like acting?"

"I love it. It's what I did in high school. Not to brag or anything, but I was one of the top male actors in the theatre program. The stage is practically home to me." Ozzy said with the largest smile he could produce. It was true, he was a theatre kid. He had been in a few plays and musicals throughout junior high and high school. he was comfortable on stage, something many people struggle with. that being said, Ozzy has a side of him that is introverted. He usually prefers to observe and listen. It is odd how he is both introverted and extroverted at the same time.

Lucy on the other hand does not have an extroverted bone in her body. She does not want to be a stereotypical nerdy girl, but many believe her to be. Some see her as an unapproachable and weird girl. Some think of her as a conceited bitch, mostly because she is the daughter of Peppy Hare. That being said, she doesn't go out of her way to prove them wrong. She lets people think whatever they want about her. Ignoring the haters was a skill she has acquired over the years.

"What do you like about acting?" Lucy asked.

"A lot of things. But my favorite is being able to pretend I'm somebody else." he replied.

"Interesting."

The two spent the next thirty minutes talking about a variety of things. Things like tv shows and movies. Both had an interest in this new series of true crime documentaries. The conversation bounced around from subject to subject. At one point Ozzy was showing baby pictures to her. After some time Lucy realized something about him.

"You know, this is the longest I've ever talked to someone without them mentioning Star Fox." Lucy said.

"Yeah well, I'm not an asshole. I'm not gonna use you to get to them. that's not why I asked you to get coffee with me. I wanted to get to know you." Ozzy stated. Those words meant a lot to her. She liked him. The conversation was coming to an end, but the two exchanged numbers before leaving.

Lucy entered her home and took her shoes off. Peppy was sitting at the kitchen table looking at his laptop. He had taken a break from flying with Star Fox after the Lylat Wars. Wishing to spend more time with his daughter, he works with General Pepper and some of the higher-ups of the Cornerian military. His schedule allows him to be with Lucy more, something he wish he had done in years prior. The two were close, but he has been absent during an important part of her life. She graduated from high school and got into college all while Peppy was flying around with Fox and the crew. She had no hard feelings about this, besides Peppy served a crucial role to Corneria during a time of conflict. Lucy had always been an independent person, so she was able to get through that stuff by herself with no issue.

"Hey Lucy, how were classes?" Peppy asked.

"Oh you know, typical first day stuff." she responded. Lucy set her backpack over the back of one of the chairs and put her phone on the table, before walking to the fridge and opening it. Just as she did a notification went off on her phone. She quickly closed the fridge to grab her phone. it was a text from Ozzy that plainly said Hey. She smiled and began typing a response.

"What's got you smiling?" Peppy asked.

"Oh just some boy from one of my classes." She answered while hitting send.

"Is this boy the reason you're home later than I was expecting."

"Yeah, he and I went and got coffee after class."

"Well isn't that nice. Tell me about him. What's his name?"

"His name is Ozzy, and where do I begin."
