Red, red dripped off the walls. A smoking hole in the wall as drywall fell from the hole. The heap of flesh lay on the floor, .45 skittered on the floor. Screaming from outside the door as sirens wailed.

Brian woke up with a start, jared from his nightmare. He rubbed his eyes and grabbed his phone, checking the time. Jesus, I really slept in until 1? I have work in an hour. He got up and grabbed his phone again, checking his notifications. Nothing. Brushing it off he grabbed his work clothes and got changed.

She could be cheating.

Brian jumped a bit at the thought. That wasn't from him.

She doesn't love you anymore.

"Shut the fuck up" he growled as the voice went away. He continued getting dressed before grabbing his things and walking out of his. Tip toeing past his dad's room, who was most definitely asleep, and walked down the stairs where his mom and Alicia's mom sat drinking coffee.

"Morning mom" he said as he opened the fridge and grabbed a gatorade and opened it.

"Morning sweetie" she said as Alicia's mom spoke up, "Good morning Brian" she said.

"Good morning Ms.Waters" he said as he sat down at the table with them and grabbed an apple from the bowl in the middle, "How are you guys?" he said taking a bite and scrolling on his phone.

"I'm fine honey, you look horrible when you go to sleep?" his mom asked him to put her coffee down.

"I went to sleep early" he lied as he took another bite of the apple, "Alicia didn't call so i just went to bed" Alicia's mom perked up in confusion, she looked at brian

"What do you mean she didn't call? She always said that her phone calls with you at night were important and she couldnt sleep without them." she said

Brian shrugged and took another bite, "Well i dropped her off after the movie and said she'd call me, i guess i bored her to death with the movies and she just fell asleep" he said not mentioning he was up until 3 waiting for a notification from her.

Ms.Waters shook her head, "That doesn't sound like her, I'll check up on her when I'm home and make sures she's feeling alright" She said.

Brian shook his head in assent, "Sounds like a winner, i gotta head to work. Love you mom, it was nice talking to the two of you" he said getting up hastily and walking out of the door, tossing the apple into the trash can before getting into his car. He plugged in his phone and hit shuffle on his playlist. He sat still as Linkin Park started playing. The lyrics ring in his head.

Erase myself and let go off what i've doneeeee

Brian put the car into reverse and backed out of his driveway, leaving his neighborhood and got onto the highway. He drove about 10 minutes before arriving at his place of work, "Sparkys Diner''. It was a local place, and it was good work. He was a cook there and loved what he did. Today though they had him covering the front counter which he was not at all familiar with. Reluctantly he got out of the car and walked into the diner.

"Hey Brian!" His manager, Colt, said to him as he walked behind the counter.

"Hey Colt, busy today?" He asked as he clocked in and put on his apron,

"Not at all, slow day today" He said as he took off his apron and looked at brian, "I'm heading out, you're in charge for the rest of the shift got it?" He said and without waiting for a response headed out the door. Brian picked up the first order and called it back. He then counted the drawer.

Upon finishing up the drawer counting he went back up front and started to serve some customers, he looked up from the register and saw Alicia and some friends of hers. Weird? They never ever came here, even to visit him. Alicia made it a statement to keep work and relationships separate. He decided he wouldn't serve them to keep that wish upheld.

Alicia and her friends walked in and sat down, immediately looking at him and giving him disgusted looks, Brian's gut turned and twisted like a ship at sea. What the hell had he done to earn these looks? Was it the movie he took her too? He didnt wanna believe she was mad over star wars but, there wasn't any reason to fight that option either. She was quite the vicious one.

Brian walked to the back room for the managers and sat down, shakily pulling out his phone and looking at their text conversation. Still no read tag. Brian swallowed the bile that was building up in his throat. He had no idea what to do, did he approach them? Did he just leave it be? He loved Alicia too much to ruin things, but what if the only way to fix it was asking? But he could also make things worse.

As these thoughts swam in his head and out his head in between his hands and breathed in deep, blinking back tears. What was he supposed to do? He squeezed his eyes shut trying to drown the thoughts when there was a knock at the door frame.

Looking up fast Brian stood up, seeing who it was he relaxed, it was only Colt.

"I came back to get my wallet, you okay Brian?" he said putting his things on the desk and approaching Brian. Brian wiped his eyes and blinked furiously,

"Uh yeah I'm fine just needed a breather, I'm fine" He said trying to talk past Colt, Colt stuck his arm out and looked Brian in the eyes.

"You're very clearly not fine Brian, talk to me. Please, what's wrong?" He said directing Brian to a chair and sitting him down. Brian sat and sighed heavily.

"It's just some stuff with Alicia, it's nothing Colt" He said wringing his hands and sighing again.

"If it was nothing you wouldn't be in the back of the store crying Brian, please go take the rest of the day off. I'll put someone else on. I'll pay you for the shift but you need to take today off, take care of yourself and please get some sleep man. You look like you haven't slept in days." He said standing up and grabbing his things.

Brian stood up shakily and stood, removing his apron and walking out front. He made eye contact with Alicia who promptly looked away. He walked towards the door to leave before he heard this,

"Cheating bitch"

Confused Brian whipped around and looked at them, "I'm sorry, cheating what?" He said, stepping towards the table.

Alicia's friends snickered and looked at him, "You heard us, you no good cheating bastard" they said as they laughed at each other. Brian looked at Alicia and just stared. "Babe what the hell are they talking about?" But no answer came. Just her looking away and staring at her drink.

"It was all over snapchat, you were exposed last night. Everyone in town knows what you did" the friends laughed again, regards for Brian's feelings thrown out the window. Tossed so effortlessly as if it were an empty cup on the freeway. Brian turned around and stepped outside, unlocking his car and getting in. He pulled out his phone and opened the snap, he had 23 unread messages. He swiped to people's stories and opened the first one.

He stared in disbelief, a screenshot of what appeared to be "him" had been asking some girl for nude images. He stared and tried to make the connections, it wasn't him, he knew that for a damn fact. But if it wasn't him then who was it? Who had made this?

Brian couldn't think of anyone, everyone who knew him would know this wasn't him. But if that was true, why did Alicia believe it? Where had this come from. During their date? When he went to sleep? This morning? He refused to believe it was tied to her not answering. He started his car and went back out, before getting a message from alicia. Fumbling for his phone he opened it. A tear formed in his eye as he read it.

Were done…

Brian squeezed his phone before throwing it at his windshield, cracking it. He stepped on the gas and pulled out of the parking lot. Getting onto the highway and flooring it.

80, 90, 100, 110, 120. The numbers were a blur to him as he screamed, rationality out of the window. Brian gripped the wheel, and he slammed it to one side. The car spun out, doing circles on the highway before skidding to a stop. A car sped past brain blaring its horn. Brian pulled to the side and screamed again, slamming his fist on the steering wheel.

What had he done? What did he do to deserve this? No answers could be found within the rage, rather his hand cut up from slamming it. He didn't care, he continued slamming it. His horn stopped working somewhere along the fit of rage. He stopped and grabbed his head in his hands, sobbing. He had no idea what to do. He didn't want to go home, he didn't want to go back to work. He just wanted to not do anything.

He wanted his existence to cease, his legacy of whatever to be erased. He feared no matter how good that legacy was it would be out blown by this, this thing he didn't even do. How does he fix this? Well the simple, he wouldn't.

Rather he can't. And he knew that. With reluctance he put the car into drive and drove the rest of the way home in silence, the occasional sniffle as he tried to control the snot coming from his nose. A nasty result of sobbing. Upon arriving at home he opened the door and walked inside. He saw his mom and dad sitting and they looked up at him.

"Brian we need to ta-" Brian didn't let them finish. He slammed the front door and ran up the stairs. Forcing his door open and slamming that one too. He fell onto the floor sobbing, his parents knew, What did they think of him? They probably assumed they raised a no good cheating bastard.

A knock came at the door, Brian didn't answer. Instead he curled his knees into his stomach, the fetal position. What did they want? To berate him? Scream? Yell? Make him feel worse than he already did, feeling bad over something he didnt even fucking do? The door opened and his mom came in.

"Brian please-" Brian sobbed out loud cutting her off,

"Please just go" he said in between his tears. His mother stood for a moment before kneeling beside him and placing her hand on his shoulder tentatively. "Brian we know you didn't do it" she said quietly. Brian stopped sobbing as bad as he was and looked up at her.

"We know you aren't capable of something like that hun" she said standing up, realizing her son just needed a few to himself. She left and shut the door. Brian squeezed his eyes shut and breathed in shakily. Pawing for his phone from his pockets, he opened snapchat and looked at the things people were saying about him.

He should die for what he did

If i was him i would shoot myself

How could anyone cheat on her? That's what she gets for getting with a nerd.

Brain threw his phone again, hitting the wall and leaving a dent in it. He punched his bed frame and yelled. He stood up in rage and grabbed a picture of him and Alicia. He smashed the frame, ripping the picture from it and grabbing a lighter. He ran to the bathroom and lit the picture on fire and dropped it into the sink. He watched as fire curled around and flickered around her face. Her disgustingly beautiful face. So pretty yet so poisonous.

In his daze he realized his phone was going off, he stepped out of his bathroom and grabbed his phone and answered it. It was Colt.

Colt gave him no chance to speak and immediately started, "I let you go home and you instead of leaving you confront her then you try to swerve off of the fucking highway! Are you fucking insane brian you could have fucking died! I told you to go home and take care of yourself!" he said, you could hear the sadness and pain in Colts voice as he was yelling.

But Brian didn't care, he had one thought on his mind.

"You knew, didn't you?" he said, an audible swallow could be heard on the other line.

"Look Brian i didnt wanna tell you it wasn't my pla-" the line cut, Brian dropped his phone. He sat on the edge of his bed and sighed once again. Not knowing how we would even right his horrid wrong.
