Ah Albus, what will it be this time? asked the bartender. Nothing today tom, just showing some muggle borns how the wizarding world operates said Dumbledore. He then led them to the back of the building and tapped his stick on the brick wall. The bricks shifted and they saw what looked like a town. Welcome to Diagon Alley.
As they were walking they read what clothes they were required to purchase. Three sets of plain work robes, one plain pointed hat, one pair of protective dragon hide gloves, and one winter cloak. Please note that all students clothes should carry name tags at all times.
Are these uniforms to be worn at all times? asked Mabel. To a certain extent said Dumbledore. The robes are to be worn in every class with no exception. The gloves are for the classes that require you to get your hands dirty. The cloaks are optional and are mainly meant for cold winter weather. The hats are also optional but students usually only wear them at meals. Hogwarts has never had rules about other types of hats therefore Mason, you can wear that brown hat whenever you like. How did you know my real name? asked Dipper. The quill of acceptance writes down the names that the child's parents gave them rather than nicknames said Dumbledore. I'm not going to spoil anything but you are not the only student with a permanent mark on their forehead.
They then read the list of books they were going to need. The standard book of spell grade on by Miranda Goshawk, A history of magic by Bathilda Bagshot, Magical theory by Adalbert Waffling, A beginner's guide to transfiguration by Emeric Switch, One thousand magical herbs and fungi by Phyllida Spore, Magical drafts and potions by Arsenius Jigger, Fantastic beasts and where to find them by Newt Scamander, and The dark forces: A guide to self protection by Quentin Trimble. It appears you want them to study ahead of time before they get started said Samantha. That's the general idea, but I would not recommend practicing any of it said Dumbledore. Students aren't aloud to use magic outside of Hogwarts until the age of 17. Doing so could result in expulsion. You must also keep in mind that muggles are what we call non magical people and they are not to be aware the magic world exists. But me and Samantha are muggles and you are telling us everything said Alex. This rule doesn't apply to muggles that are related to witches and wizards said Dumbledore. But the two of you both have to promise not to tell any of your muggle friends or the consequences could be severe. We won't say anything said Alex.
They then read the last few objects they would need. One wand, one standard size pewter cauldron, one set of glass or crystal phials, one set of brass scales. Students may also bring an owl, a cat, or a toad. Parents are reminded first years are not allowed their own broomsticks. While you aren't allowed your own broomsticks until the second year there is nothing stopping you from borrowing one from the school said Dumbledore. Or you can ask one of the older students if you can borrow one of theirs. Sometimes the school makes exceptions if you are really good. But the last time that happened was when I was a first year. Are the pets mandatory? asked Samantha. Not at all, and if you want a pet it doesn't have to be one of the three listed said Dumbledore. Any animal that is legal in the wizarding world is fair game. Where do we trade in our US money for UK money? asked Alex. That would be the wizarding bank Gringotts said Dumbledore. But we don't use ordinary money.
When they went into Gringotts they saw some weird looking creatures at desks on both sides. These are goblins, very few of them are friendly, and very few of them can be trusted. This is especially true when they are dealing with thievery. They then walked to the front desk where a goblin looked at them. Ah Professor, said the goblin. I'm assuming you came for the you know what. No, Hagrid will be doing that for me said Dumbledore. I am merely here to help some muggle borns exchange currency. Right then said the goblin. GRIPHOOK, LEAD THEM TO THE MUGGLE CURRENCY EXCHANGE VAULT! A goblin that they assumed was Griphook beckoned them to follow him. As they followed him Dipper asked what the you know what was? I'm afraid i'm not allowed to tell you said Dumbledore. It's private Hogwarts business. Griphook then led them to a cart on railroad tracks. Try not to lose your lunch, it's going to be a bumpy ride he said. They all climbed aboard and took off at a fast speed. They went underground and went through a series of different tracks until they came to a stop. THAT WAS AWESOME! shouted Mabel. They then climbed out and Griphook put in a combination on a large door. The door opened and inside were stacks of British currency and coins they had never seen before. Dumbledore told them how much they needed and the Pines Parents gave them some US dollars. They were then handed a large sack of coins. 29 bronze knuts makes a sliver sickle and 17 silver sickles makes a gold galleon said Griphook. That's how wizarding currency works. If you try to take money from here that isn't yours you might not make it out alive.
After Gringotts They went into Madam Malkins robe shop to get their robes. When they walked in they saw a group of redheads. Mabel caught sight of one with freckles and felt something inside her. The freckled boy also blushed upon seeing Mabel. I would like to introduce you to the Weasley's said Dumbledore. This is Molly and her twin sons Fred and George. No, he's Fred and i'm George said one of the redhead twins. Honestly old man, we're going into our third year and you still can't tell us apart said the other. I apologize, the old age causes me to forget things said Dumbledore. Just joking, you got us right said one of the redhead twins. Dumbledore burst out laughing. I fall for that joke every time said Dumbledore. I believe two of you I have yet to meet. My name is Ginny said the youngest redhead. I've still got a year to go before I start school. My name is Ronald but everyone calls me Ron for short said the freckled boy. And I already know you're the headmaster Professor Dumbledore. I've got six wizard cards of you. Your older twin brothers told me about your collection when they were having lunch with me for their detention said Dumbledore. An older woman whom they assumed to be Madame Malkin walked out with an older redhead boy. This is our new prefect Percy said Dumbledore. These two students are named Dipper and Mabel and they are going into their first year just like Ronald. And these are their parents Alex and Samantha. They all then shook hands with each other. Mabel and Ron hesitated before shaking hands and were red in the face when touching each other. We best be getting back to the burrow, i'm sure you'll see each other again at Hogwarts said Molly. Soon Dipper and Mabel were fitted and had recieved their new robes.
The twins agreed that to save money they would share their schoolbooks with each other. When they walked into Flourish and Blotts to get the books Dipper saw a pretty blonde girl in a purple dress in line in front of them. The blonde girl thought that Dipper was the most handsome thing she ever saw. H- hi, m-my name is Dipper Pines a-and this is my sister M-M-Mabel stuttered Dipper. M my names Pacifica N-Northwest said the girl. The were shaking slightly when they shook hands. Then Pacifica and Dumbledore shook hands. I am Professor Dumbledore and you Ms Northwest are trying to become my replacement said Dumbledore. How did you know my goal was to one day become Hogwarts Headmistress? asked Pacifica. I have my ways said Dumbledore. You seem like a nice girl said Alex. Are you starting Hogwarts too? asked Samantha. Yes, my mom and dad are out getting me a cauldron said Pacifica. After buying their books they bid each other good bye and Dipper got one last glance at the back of her beautiful blonde hair before she turned a corner.
Soon all they had left to get was the wands. Before they did that they went to the Magical Menagarie to get pets. Mabel settled on a female cat whom she named Posy. Dipper settled on a male owl that he named Edward.
Soon they were in Ollivander's wand shop. Ah Albus said the old man behind the desk whom they presumed to be Ollivander. First years I expect. That is indeed the case Gerrick said Dumbledore. We will start off with Mabel here as she is the oldest by five minutes. The Pines family started to think that Dumbledore could read minds. The wand chooses the wizard or in this case the witch said Ollivander. It might take us a couple of wands to get the right one. It only took Mabel one attempt. Her wand was cherry wood with a Hippogriff feather. Dipper on the other hand ended up going through half of Ollivander's entire supply practically destroying the whole store. At last he finally settled on Indian Rosewood with a Niffler hair.
Soon they were all in the leaky cauldron as Dumbledore was treating them to lunch. Mabel I noticed something between you and Mr Weasley said Dumbledore. And you Mason, something sparked between you and Ms Northwest. Are you by any chance falling in love with each other? It's hard to say for sure, we just met them said Dipper. I know I my heart goes to Ron said Mabel. I will win him. She's going through another romance phase said Samantha. There is something I should point about about Pacifica Northwest said Dumbledore. When her father Preston was a child he attended the American school Illvermorny. He was expelled halfway through his education after he married a muggle named Priscilla after winning a yachting competition. He broke 2 laws, underage marriage and violating the international statue of secrecy. Because of his wealth he was able to convince the US ministry to allow him to continue using magic. He was still not allowed to go back to school and had to pay a 20,000 galleon fine. Originally his daughter was given a letter accepting her into Illvermorny but he rejected it and asked me to accept Pacifica into Hogwarts. While you were the only US students to be written in the book of admittance Pacifica is the first US student to come to Hogwarts by choice.
Soon they were back in Piedmont and Dumbledore gave the twins tickets to platform nine and three quarters at Kings Cross. I will be back the day after your birthday on September the first to help you get onto the platform he said. That will be day 1 of your 7 years of magic. Until then I hope you study hard. We will they both said at once. After bidding each other good bye Dumbledore walked back into the green flames and vanished.
Authors note: Dipper Pines x Pacifica Northwest is a ship that a lot of people are expecting when reading Gravity Falls fan fiction. But I am absolutely positive that nobody expected Mabel Pines x Ron Weasley. I am sticking to these ships and nothing is changing my mind.
