Vernon Dursley gets a letter from Hogwarts. Story starts two days after the end of "Return to Privet Drive." Part 2. Harry takes Vernon to Diagon Alley.

After Lily, with a lot of interruptions from her father, had described Hogwarts to young Vernon then next stop was Diagon Alley. As they were about to enter "The Leaky Cauldron" Harry had a word with Dudley and Vernon. "OK, you are about to see the magical world for the first time, this is going to seem very strange to you." Then Lily added "And just to let you know my Dad is famous!"

"Merlin's beard, it's Harry Potter! What would like to drink Mr. Potter?"

"Sorry Tom, another time. My cousin is off to Hogwarts, taking him shopping."

They went through the pub, Harry tapped on the wall with his wand, as the wall opened Harry said "here we are, welcome to Diagon Alley." Dudley and Vernon stopped dead in their tracks at the amazing sight in front of them. "Come on, first stop is Gringotts Bank."

The Goblins looked somewhat suspiciously at Dudley's NatWest Bank card but they were able to transfer Muggle money to Vernon's newly created Gringotts account and he left with a suitable amount of Galleons, Sickles and Knuts for the rest of his Hogwarts purchases. As they left Dudley asked Harry "That funny little man kept saying Muggle, what does that mean?"

"You are a Muggle Dudley, a non-magical person. You can be Muggle born and still be a great witch or wizard. My mother, your Aunt Lily, was Muggle born. One of my best friends was Muggle born and now she is Minister for Magic. Right, young Vernon if you are going to be a wizard then you need a magic wand."

As they entered his shop they were greeted by the ancient Mr. Ollivander.

"Oh my, it's Harry Potter! What brings you here?"

"Good day to you Mr. Ollivander, my cousin is off to Hogwarts."

"I see, I see. I think I will leave you in the hands of my young assistant. Albus, you are needed."

"Hello Dad, what are you doing here?"

One hour later Vernon left with an elm wand with a Hippogriff feather core. Mr. Ollivander gave his young assistant a half an hour break where he joined his relatives who stopped for an ice cream. Two hours later Vernon had all the books, robes and cauldrons he needed.

Harry said "Right young Vernon, you are allowed a magical pet, you get what you want and I will pay for it as my treat." Vernon eventually found a small ginger cat, who immediately found a perch on his shoulder.

"Good choice Vernon, what are you going to call this cat?"

"I think I will call him Harry!"

OK, we have all the stuff you need for Hogwarts but there is one more store I would like you to see."

Five minutes later they entered "Weasley's Wizard Wheezes".

First person they saw was James "Hello Dad, hello cousin Vernon, all ready for Hogwarts?"

"Hello James, could we please see the manager?"

Ten seconds later Ron appeared "Hello Harry, who have we got here..."

When they finally got back to Privet Drive Patricia said "Well it looks like you have had quite a day, how was it?"

Vernon replied "Magic!"
