"My eternal rival!"

The sound of Might Gai's voice made all four members f team 7 freeze in their tracks. Which was awkward for Naruto who had been in the middle of trying to deliver a flying kick to his own rival and landed on his ass.

Gai and Lee were running towards them with Neji and Tenten following. Alarmingly, both jumpsuit wearing ninja were lifting amps over their heads.

"What are they-?" Sakura asked.

The taijutsu experts set the machines down.

Gai gave Kakashi a bright smile "I hope you're feeling youthful this wonderful morning."

"Well," Kakashi said, eyeing the amps. "I try… what are those for?"

"Ah," Gai said, looking at the instruments. "Your team inspired us."

"We did?" Naruto asked.

"Yes." Neji said as he reached them. He was glaring at all four of them. "You're all very inspirational."

Sasuke blinked as he noticed the electric guitar on the Hyuga's back. "Is that what I think it is?"

"Gai simply smiled and rolled out a sealing scroll that released a drum set."

Team 7 watched in morbid fascination as Gai and Neji connected their instruments to the amps.

"Battery powered," Gai explained.

"You people did this." Tenten said as she walked up to them, her eyes full of accusation. "I hope you're aware of that."

Naruto opened his mouth in confusion before shutting it.

"So what is this?" Kakashi asked.

"We just finished composing Rock Lee's theme song." Gai said as he sat at the drums. "We wanted your feedback."

"Theme song?" Kakashi asked.

"Yes," Gai said, "it's such a wonderful expression of character and a great way your team to coordinate together. I wish I had thought of it first. But while Naruto's theme was moving, ours will strike fear into the hearts of our enemies."

Naruto sputtered. "That wasn't my theme. It was my backstory music."

Gai looked at the blonde ninja. "Egad, you have a theme for different parts of your life?"

Naruto wanted to reply only to be interrupted as Neji began shredding on his guitar, complimented by Gai's drumming.

"Behold!" Lee yelled as he took a pose. "The beautiful green beast."

And with that, he launched into a series of acrobatic flips and kicks in tune to the music.

"Is he dancing?" Sakura asked.

"Whatever he's doing, it's so cool!" Naruto said. "I want to do it to."

Sasuke hummed in agreement. Lee's techniques showed a lot of his inherent speed and strength. Sasuke could match his speed, but it was because of that that he was more aware of just how superior Lee was physically. For now.

"Get too close and he might kick you in the face." Tenten warned.

Lee was having the time of his life as he fought some invisible opponent across the training field in time to the music.

Kick. Spin. Flip. Bow. Summersault. Blow a kiss at Sakura who shrunk back. Pinwheel. Kick.

The song began to die down as Lee jumped in the air right as Neji began playing a long riff before he crashed down to the ground in a battle pose.

"Well what did you think?" Gai asked.

"That was great." Sakura said, happy for Lee, even if she still didn't return his feelings.

"It was good." Naruto said with a shrug. "But mine will be better."

"What do you think?" Neji asked, looking at Sasuke, "particularly about the instrumentals?"

Sasuke looked at the Hyuga boy. "Well, it's not my style of music, but I recognize good work when I hear it. That riff at the end was really well done."

Neji nodded politely.

"Glad you like it." Gai said cheerfully. Then he looked at Neji. "It's your turn next."

As Team Gai began packing their instruments up. Kakashi looked at his team. "Well," he said. "Time to start composing. Sasuke, how do you feel about learning a few more instruments?"

Sasuke balked at the idea, not because it was a waste of training time, fighting Tayuya's monsters while playing an instrument was wonders for his battle sense and Taijutsu, but because the idea of being in the same space as her for any longer than necessary was not one he liked entertaining.

"I'll take your silence for a yes." Kakashi said.

Sasuke stared at his sensei.

"Alright Team 7." Kakashi said, pointedly ignoring the silent Uchiha. "Are we going to let team Gai beat us?" He sounded oddly enthusiastic. Gai tended to bring that out of him.

"No way!" Naruto yelled.

Kakashi pointed at him. "Good enough. Let's do this."
