Holy shit! I think that was an awesome prologue am I right?! Okay enough chatter let's get to the… (pause for dramatic affect)... FIRST CHAPTER!

Chapter 1

12 Years Later…

"We're gonna get you Shippo!" Kagome shouted as she and Kirara flew after a young Kitsune demon child who wore blue clothing, had blue eyes, a short orange ponytail, and an adorable fluffy fox tail.

"Oh no you won't!" the little fox retaliated playfully as he ran, stopping when he reached the small lake surrounded by blooming cherry trees, it was also where twenty-year-old Sango, who wore a pink kimono with a long green skirt, and sandals on her feet, was washing clothes and bedsheets.

"HA! I beat you Kagome and Kirara!" Shippo cheered as he did a little victory dance next to Sango.

"Yes you did" Kagome stated as she got off of Kirara's back when the neko landed.

Kagome was almost eighteen years old and she had grown into a beautiful young woman; her long wavy raven hair went down the middle of her back, her big brown eyes were always bright and sparkly, her skin glowed with great health, she wore a lovely bright yellow kimono covered in light pink cherry blossoms with a dark pink obi around her waist, she was always walking barefoot, and finally she wore a little bright orange and golden orb on a brass chain around her neck…

Kagome then looked at Sango, who had her back turned on her. "Come on Sango, come play with us" the raven haired maiden requested, but Sango only shook her head, making her very low long dark ponytail sway side to side.

"I can't Kagome, I have to finish the chores, and you, Kirara, and Shippo have to help me whether you like it or not, now come and help me with the wash. You are way too old to be playing like a child" Sango stated firmly.

Kagome sighed softly as she then kneeled down next to Sango and embraced her, she knew Sango had been suffering greatly for the past few months… since her father Kai had died… he had been a great demon slayer that had lived in a village with his family, that is before vengeful demons found it and killed everyone in it other than Sango his young daughter and Kirara their loyal nekomata companion. After wondering for a few days they came across a Miko retirement home where little Kagome and her mother Ami lived and after getting to know each other the mikos in the retirement home let Kai and his little family stay with them… well at least until the dark miko Kikyo killed everyone there including Kagome's mother, but luckly Kai was able to save Kagome, Sango, and Kirara who had all grown very close like sisters, and brought them all to the hermit miko Keade's temple to live and stay safe from all dangers, they were happy together, Sango had learned to become a strong demon slayer wielding her father's boomerang bone, the Hiraikotsu with Kirara as her partner, and Kagome had learned to harness her powerful spiritual powers with Keade's aid. Happiness seemed to be there to stay in the rock pit they all lived in… that is until three months ago when Sango's father grew ill and died, on his deathbed he requested that Sango and Kirara protect Kagome and that he wished to not be healed by The Sun Relic, he claimed he was ready to rest in peace… Sango was devastated but she respected her father's last wishes, and buried him under one of the largest cherry trees in the rock pit area. After Sango's father had left the land of the living, Kagome noticed that her two best friends had become even more protective of her and… Sango didn't smile as much as she used to…

"I know things have been hard with your father, and with Keade being away for that exorcism, but your father wouldn't want us to be sad just like my mother wouldn't want that for us either, so we must be strong" Kagome said in a comforting voice.

Sango sighed as she hugged Kagome back. "Thanks Kagome… I'll tell you what I'll finish up the wash if you play and sing for me"

Kagome perked up at her words. "Deal, does this also mean I don't have to do anymore chores today?" she asked.

Sango smiled and lightly elbowed Kagome in the side. "Nice try" she laughed lightly, making Kagome giggle as she picked up the mandolin that was leaning against the nearby cherry tree next to Sango's Hiraikotsu.

Kagome was not only a powerful miko, but also a talented musician, she played the mandolin and sang.

"Which song do you guys want to hear?" Kagome questioned as Shippo and Kirara hurried over to sit with her and Sango.

"I want to hear your mama's lullaby, that's the first song you ever sang to me and I loved it" Shippo requested, making Kirara nod as she transformed into her smaller self and sat by Sango.

Shippo had stumbled upon Kaede's rock pit three years ago after human bandits killed his parents and injured him. Though Shippo was a demon, Kagome loved him as a little brother from the start because of how cute and sweet he was, she was even kind enough to let the little guy stay and live in the rock pit and become part of the family, despite everyone else's protest even they grew to love Shippo as family.

"What about; "You Raise Me Up"? I've practiced a lot and I think I'm ready to play and sing it completely" Kagome stated sweetly.

"Oh, yeah sing that one!" Shippo exclaimed as he sat next to Kagome, who smiled as she positioned her mandolin and began to play and soon she began to sing;

"When I am down and oh my soul so weary….

When troubles come and my heart burdened be….

Then I am still and wait here in the silence until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains, you raise me up to walk on stormy seas…

I am strong when I am on your shoulders, you raise me up to more than I can be…

There is no, life no life without its hunger…

each restless heart beats so imperfectly….

But when you come and I am filled with wonder, sometimes I think I glimpse eternity…

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains, you raise me up to walk on stormy seas…

I am strong when I am on your shoulders you raise me up to more than I can be…

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains you raise me up to walk on stormy seas, I am strong when I am on your shoulders, you raise me up to more than I can be… you raise me up to more than I… can be…"

Kagome's voice was rich, sweet, and clear and it brought joy to anyone who heard it sing, after the song was finished, Kagome looked upon her three friends to see all of them smiling at her.

"Kagome that was amazing!" Shippo complemented as he clapped.

"You truly have a gift" Sango proclaimed, clapping as well as Kirara meowed in agreement.

Kagome smiled sweetly as pink blush rose to her cheeks. "Thank you… I wish I could share it with the rest of the world through…" she trailed off sadly.

Sango's smile then faded as she stopped clapping "Kagome you know it's dangerous for you to be out there-" the demon slayer started but the slightly younger girl cut her off.

"But we don't know that, how do we know that Kikyo really is searching for The Sun Relic and we don't have to hide here anymore?" Kagome questioned firmly.

Sango sighed. "Your right we don't know and that's why you have to stay here until your father or Kaede says otherwise"

Kagome looked down. "But I'm not a child, I can protect myself. Not to mention in two days counting today I'll be eighteen I'm more than old enough to have my own life…" she stated.

"Kagome believe me, if it was my choice, I'd let you see the world and follow your dreams… but it's not my choice, it's your fathers, and he wants you to stay safe. It was him who told your mother that this place would be the safest for you if Kikyo ever happened to find us" said Sango.

Kagome sighed, she had expected Sango to give her that answer just like she always did when this particular subject was brought up. "I'll be by the rice field if you need me" Kagome said sadly as she stood up, taking her mandolin with her as she made her way to the rice field on the other side of the rock pit.

"Oh dear, I hope I wasn't too hard on her" Sango with a heavy sigh as she went back to doing the wash.

"Well I really I don't blame Kagome for wanting to leave this place, she hasn't left for twelve years" Shippo stated with a shrug.

Sango bit her lip and sighed again. "I hope one day Kagome you will be free from the burdens you carry" the demon slayer thought to herself as she petted Kirara who was purring at her side to comfort her.

Meanwhile farther west in the forest there were two young men traveling east. One man, whom was the vassal to the other, was a young monk named Miroku. He wore purple monk robes, carried a staff, had violet eyes, black hair that was in a short ponytail, and wore sandals on his feet. The master of the two was Inuyasha. Lord Inuyasha was a very handsome young man… well half man, he was a half demon, born of the great dog demon Toga and his second wife lady Izayoi. His father's first wife died giving birth to Sessomaru, Inuyahsa's half older brother and current lord of their father's demon castle in the western lands since he was the oldest.

Inuyasha had long white hair like his late father as well as golden eyes, claws on his hands, and a great sense of smell. And like his human mother he had fair skin and a soft smile (whenever he cared to show it that is) and his final feature was one all his own, on his head were a pair of white triangle dog ears. He wore a red kimono robe and matching pants, and he was barefoot.

"Miroku hurry your ass up, we're getting close I can feel it!" The dog eared lord demand as he took out his sword from its sheath making it transform into a large fang shaped blade. "TESSAIGA!" he shouted as he cut down a few trees using the sword

"Inuyasha calm yourself, we've been traveling for five days in search of The Sun Relic. Are you certain we should not just give up and look for another solution?" Miroku questioned calmly.

"I'M NOT GIVING UP!" Inuyasha yelled. "That relic is our last chance to save my mother from that deathly fever. I ain't gonna give up until I find the Sun relic and use it to heal her. I lost my father in battle when I was five, I'm not losing my mother too, she's the only family I got!"

"But your brother lord Sesshomaru and your sister in law lady Rin-" Miroku started but Inuyasha cut him off.

"They don't care, no one but my mother cares about me because I'm a half demon, and no one cares about half demons!" he exclaimed.

"I care about you my dear friend, but that's besides the point, how are you so certain that this Sun Relic even exists?" Miroku questioned.

Inuyasha stopped ahead of the monk before answering, "...My mother saw it the day it came to be, it was eighteen years ago, that was also the day it disappeared. I was just a toddler when it happened, but she saw it come from the sun and the sun rises in the east, so that's where the relic could be, it's the best bet we have right now… I won't give up… I will save my mother…" the dog lord trailed off as he continued to walk forward, putting Tessaiga back in its sheath.

"Lord Inuyasha, you have never been one to talk to another about your troubles other than me but even so you still keep much locked away, I hope one day that will change…" Miroku thought to himself as he continued to follow Inuyasha.

After an hour or two, Inuyasha and Miroku came across a very rocky area in the forest.

"I believe we are lost, Inuyasha," said Miroku, glazing around the area.

"We are not, we just have to keep going east and-" Inuyasha started as he tried to lay his hand on a large rock covered in vines… only to lose his balance and nearly fall through it!

"A cave?" Inuyasha wondered out loud.

"Oh, shall we investigate?" Miroku questioned walking towards the cave entrance only for Inuyasha to put his arm in front of him, blocking his path. "I smell cherry blossoms, fresh water, and rice plant's. I'll check it out alone, you stay here until I get back" Inuyahsa demanded as he went into the cave alone.

"As you wish" Miroku sighed as he sat down on the forest floor and began to meditate quietly.

Inuyasha carefully made his way through the cave, which to his surprise led into a rock pit, there was a temple, a rice field, a lake surrounded by blooming cherry trees, and a small golden shrine with a sun on it. "The Sun Relic… it has to be here…!" the dog man whispered to himself as he made his way towards the golden shrine, only to stop when he heard a beautiful melody being played on a mandolin. Without thinking Inuyasha turned to follow the sweet sound from behind some large rocks leading to the lake, where the music was coming from… that's when a voice then started to sing to the music;

"Let me sing a lullaby as you close your eyes,

And as you're drifting off to sleep how I hope that the dreams that you find are bright…"

Inuyasha stopped as his ears twitched at the song, it was being sung so beautifully, but his cheeks turned red when he caught sight of who the voice was coming from… under a bright blooming cherry tree was a lovely young woman who looked about his age. She had long wavy raven hair, healthy fair skin, bright brown eyes that reminded the dog lord of the stars, she was barefoot, and she wore a beautiful bright yellow kimono covered in pink cherry blossoms to match the blooming ones on the trees, and she was playing a wooden mandolin.

"She's…. Beautiful…." Inuyasha said to himself as he continued to listen to the song the young woman was singing;

"Love can we meet again soon in the bluest of skies?

Where a tomorrow waits for you and I,

So hold me tight one more time but don't kiss me goodbye,

'Cause I know that I'll see you on the other side,

I will think of our song when the night's are too long I'll dream of you for that's where I belong,

Love can we meet again soon in the bluest of skies?

Only in my dreams do we meet again…"

After the song was complete Inuyasha noticed the sun necklace around the young woman's neck, making his eyes widen.

"That has to be The Sun Relic!" his mind yelled as he put his hand on Tessaiga and got ready to jump out from behind the rocks…. Only to be hit on the back of the head and knocked out by Sango's Hiraikotsu.

The noise behind the rocks made Kagome jump. "Sango, what's going on?!" she questioned as she put down her mandolin and ran towards the scene.

"Stay back Kagome!" The demon slayer demanded, but Kagome didn't listen as she gasped when she saw Inuyasha knocked out on the grass.

"Sango what did you do to this poor man?!" the miko exclaimed as she kneeled down to nurse the very large bump on the half demon's head, ignoring Sango's demands to stay away.

"Hey what's going on over here?" Shippo questioned as he was on Kirara's back while the neko flew over to the two women and the knocked out half demon.

"Kirara, Shippo, get Kagome inside so I can deal with this trespasser!" Sango ordered as she raised her weapon again, only to have Kagome jump between her and Inuyasha.

"Sango, no!" the miko shouted. "He hasn't done anything to hurt us, I'm sure he's just a lost traveler, you have no reason to kill him!"

Sango frowned. "Kagome he was spying on you and was going to attack, that's why I knocked him out in the first place, he could be after The Sun Relic's power!" the demon slayer warned.

Kagome sighed and looked at the knocked out half demon and then back at Sango. "Even if that is true, he must be tired, hungry, and now thanks to you, injured. So I'm going to take him inside the temple and tend to him and you aren't going to stop me!" the young miko stated firmly. "Kirara, can this man ride on your back into the temple please?" Kagome asked the neko before Sango could protest.

Kirara sniffed Inuyasha and then gave Kagome a nod, making the miko smile brightly.

"Thank you, Shippo I'm going to need your help getting him onto Kirara's back" Kagome requested as she pulled one of Inuyasha's arms around her shoulder so she could get him off of the ground.

"Okay" Shippo chirped as he began to pull Inuyasha onto Kirara.

"W-what happened?" Inuyahsa stuttered as he started to come to, only to be knocked out yet again by Sango's weapon.

"Sango!" Kagome shot scowling at the demon slayer who was frowning at an unconscious Inuyasha.

"What!?" she questioned, making Kagome sigh heavily as she and Shippo got the half demon onto Kirara's back.

)())())((((((((((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))(((((((((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Inuyasha began to wake up to the sound of voices around him. One of them sounded like it belonged to a small boy and the other two sounded like two women arguing.

"What do you think he wants?" the boy's voice questioned.

"I keep telling you, he's after The Sun Relic and I stand by it!" one woman's voice stated.

"Sango please, let's hear what he has to say before we jump to too many conclusions" said the second female's voice calmly, the sound of the soft voice made Inuyasha's eyes flutter open. He then saw was inside a room lying on a futon. In front of him was a small kitsune boy with red hair in a ponytail, a she nekomata cat, a woman with brown hair in a long and low ponytail wearing a pink kimono and green skirt, in her lap was a large boomerang bone, and finally Inuyasha saw the beautiful with wavy raven haired woman staring at him with a concerned expression.

"Where am I?" Inuyasha groaned as he sat up.

"Here, have something to eat, I bet you're hungry," said the raven haired girl, placing a tray of rice balls and fried fish into Inuyasha's lap and then pouring some herbal tea into a small cup. Inuyasha didn't waste any time shoving the food into his mouth and gulping down the warm tea. "My how long has it been since last you've eaten?" Kagome questioned gently.

"Five days" Inuyasha admitted as he then went back to devorwing the food.

After the half demon was finished eating he put a hand on his head to check the damage he had felt before passing out earlier only to feel no pain and find nothing. "That's weird, wasn't I hit on the back of the head with something" the half demon questioned.

"You were, please accept my apologies for that, Sango is very overprotective of me" Kagome said apologetically bowing her head to Inuyasha.

"He was spying on you and about to attack, I had every right to do what I did!" Sango said defensively.

"What Sango means to say is she's very sorry" Kagome said sternly as she scowled at the demon slayer. "What's your name, traveler?" she then asked turning back to Inuyasha, who couldn't help but stare at the lovely miko before him who spoke with such a heavenly voice.

"Um.. I'm Inuyasha, the second son of the great dog demon Toga" he said after a pause.

"I see, why have you come to these parts Inuyasha? There is not much out here" Kagome said cautiously.

"You really want to know?" asked the half demon as he reached for Tessaiga on his side only to find that it was not with him. "WHERE'S MY SWORD!?" he barked.

"Right here" Shippo said from across the room holding the sheathed sword in his small hands.

"Give it back!" Inuyasha yelled as he tried to run over to Shippo, only for Sango and Kirara (who had transformed) to block his path.

"Everyone calm down, please!" Kagome demanded standing between the half demon and her friends. "We'll give you your sword back if you tell us why you are here" Kagome promised turning to Inuyasha… who saw the sun necklace around her neck, but as he carefully tried to steal it Kagome zapped him with her hand using her spiritual powers, knocking the dog man to the ground.

"Give me The Sun Relic!" He demanded standing up only for Sango and Kirara to block his way ready to put up a fight to protect Kagome.

"I knew you were trouble!" Sango spat. "Let's get him Kirara!" she stated as she and the neko were about to attack the dog man.

"STOOOOOOP!" Kagome yelled at the top of her lungs, making everyone in the room pause and turn to her.

"Someone makes one wrong move and suddenly all of you act like wild animals, so everyone here is going to sit down and talk about what needs to be done before anything else happens. Is. that. CLEAR!?" Kagome questioned in a demanding tone, her face reddening in anger.

Sango sighed as she put her weapon on her back. "Consider yourself lucky" she snapped at Inuyasha as Kirara transformed back into her smaller self and hopped onto the demon slayer's shoulder.

"Lord Inuyasha, why do you require The Sun Relic?" Kagome questioned.

"Kagome!" Sango exclaimed only for the miko to hold up her hand silently telling the demon slayer to keep quiet.

"Kagome… so that's her name…" Inuyasha thought to himself blissfully as he then answered the miko's question. "I… I need it to heal my mother…" the half demon trailed off.

"What's wrong with your mother?" Kagome questioned.

"She's ill, deathly ill and she's the only person who cares for me family wise, I need the power of the sun relic to heal her, so give it to me!"Inuyasha demanded.

Kagome then looked into Inuyasha's eyes and saw nothing but desperation and fear for his mother.

"Sango, Kirara, I'd like a private word with you both. Shippo I need you to keep an eye on Lord Inuyasha" the miko requested as she, Sango, and Kirara went into the next room, closing the sliding door in their wake, leaving Shippo with Inuyasha.

"Alright you dog, don't start any trouble and there won't be any trouble!" the little fox said in a tough voice, only to have Inuyasha slug him on the head, knocking the little fox kit out.

"Alright, what are they planning?" the half demon thought to himself as he put his dog ear up to the sliding door to listen to the conversation happening on the other side.

"I want to help him!" he heard Kagome say insistently.

"Out of the question!" Sango exclaimed as Kirara meowed in agreement.

"I feel like he's telling the truth," Kagome stated. "Plus I haven't left this place since the night of my sixth birthday for twelve years this has gone on. I'll be eighteen in two days now, and the only thing I want is to help this man's poor sick mother! That's what The Sun Relic's powers are for, to bring healing, life, and happiness, please Sango…" the miko begged.

Inuyasha's eyes widened at Kagome's words. "She's been here for twelve years without ever leaving?!" he thought to himself. "That makes me almost feel sorry for her, almost"

That's when the sliding door opened, making Inuyasha fall before Kagome's feet.

"Lord Inuyasha, I've made a decision; you will lead me, Sango, Kirara, and Shippo to your ill mother and we will use The Sun Relic to heal her since we know how it works, in return you will lead us back home safe and sound and after that you will leave and never speak of us or The Sun Relic again, that is the deal take it or leave it" Kagome stated firmly while standing up straight.

"I-" Inuyasha started but Kagome cut him off.

"However, if you do anything funny, I won't stop Sango and Kirara from kicking your ass. Are. We. Clear?" the miko questioned coldly.

Inuyasha frowned. "Deal" he stated as he held out his hand to shake Kagome's.

"Her hand is so small and soft…" the half demon trailed off in thought.

"Wait outside of the temple with Kirara me and Sango have to gather a few things for the journey, will be there shortly" said Kagome as she let go of Inuyasha's hand and brushed past him with Sango following close behind her as she picked up an unconscious Shippo and walked into a different room in the temple.

)((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

"Kagome I don't like that guy" Shippo said after he had woken up as Kagome and Sango gathered supplies for the trip they were about to take.

"I know you don't, but keep in mind he's worried for his mother, that's why we're doing this, plus I'll get to see the outside world for the first time in years" Kagome proclaimed.

"I agree with Shippo…" Sango trailed off as she came into the room wearing her pink and black demon slayer uniform, with her hair in a high ponytail and her boomerang bone on her back. "This could be a trap," she said.

"Which is why you and Kirara will be by my side during this trip," said Kagome as she took out her bright red bow and placed it in the wooden quiver of arrows on her back along with her mandolin. "I'm ready," the miko stated as she took a deep breath and walked outside where Inuyasha and large Kirara were waiting.

"Here's your sword" Shippo said sternly, handing Tessaiga to the half demon, who snatched the sheathed sword back.

"Let's go" Inuyasha snapped as he began to walk towards the cave where he had entered into the rock pit with Kagome, Sango, Kirara, and Shippo followed close behind.

"Inuyasha you've returned at last!" Miroku exclaimed when he saw his friend slash master come out of the cave, but he raised an eyebrow when he saw the four new traveling companions behind the half demon, though his eyes were specifically on Sango and Kagome.

"And who might these two lovely young lady's be?" the monk questioned smoothly as he gave a charming smile to the two women making Sango roll her eyes and kagome give a confused look.

"They have The Sun Relic and they're coming with us to heal my mother and then- HEY!" Inuyasha shouted when he noticed Miroku had gone over to Kagome and was now holding her hands in his own.

"My lovely maiden what is your name?" Miroku asked smoothly.

"Um… Kagome…" the miko answered cautiously.

"What a beautiful name… Lady Kagome, would you consider bearing my children?" the monk asked innocently, making Sango gasp and take out her Hiraikotsu only for Inuyasha to beat her to the punch by slugging Miroku on the head.

"She's not interested in your bullshit, Miroku!" the half demon growled as he then stood between Miroku and an embarrassed Kagome.

Sango squinted at the scene before her. "Did… he just… protect Kagome?" she wondered to herself, the demon slayer was in so much shock that she didn't notice Miroku coming up to her.

"My I must say you are a very interesting young woman, there are not many female fighters. What's your name fair maiden?" the monk asked, holding Sango's free hand in his own.

"What's it to you?" the demon slayer asked suspiciously, raising one of her eyebrows, her grip tight on her weapon.

"Why, I simply must know the name of the most beautiful woman in the world" Miroku replied flirtatiously. As his hand moved to Sango's bottom…

"YOU LECHER!" Sango shouted, slapping Miroku's cheek leaving a handprint, but before she could use her boomerang bone, Kagome cleared her throat.

"Sango we need to get a move on this is not the time to be playing around and beating up a lecherous monk, there will be plenty of time to do that on the way back to Inuyasha's mother" said Kagome as she then scowled at Miroku who grinned sheepishly.

"I agree let's go!" Inuyasha barked as he began to head west with everyone else following close behind.

Shippo sighed as he rode on Kirara's back "this is going to be one long journey…" he trailed off as Kirara nodded in agreement.

And that is a WRAP! I love it, for credits the song you raise me up was not written by me it's an actual song as is Isabella's lullaby and the lyrics Kagome sang belong to Amalee the best singer ever! Anyway I hope you enjoyed bu- bye!
