"Arsher chased you again?"

"Mmm-hmm."

Macey could only sigh to spare her son from her use of profanity while she cleaned the mud off of his shoes. Her mother, Whitley, had thrown a fit over her adopted grandson getting his shoes muddy, while her step-father, Waylon, had provided his daughter a washcloth as well as a bucket of water and soap. He also managed to get Whitley out of the house and in his car just to take a drive away from the house.

"Nan hates me." Peepers said in the midst of Macey's shoe cleaning.

"Honey, Nan doesn't hate you, she was just mad at the moment." Macey tried her best to reason with her upset child.

"Does almost slapping me in the face count as being mad at the moment, mama?" Peepers asked.

Upon hearing her son's question, she looked behind her son who sat on the kitchen sink counter.

"Excuse me what?" Macey questioned.

"Nan was ready to slap me in the face before you came home from work." Peepers repeated himself while adding a little more information for his mother.

The room stayed quiet for awhile and before Peepers knew it, he was picked up and carried into his Uncle Merrick's room. Merrick only had to give one glance to his older twin sister to realize that their mother had upsetted Macey once again over something. And obviously, that something had to do with Merrick's six-year-old nephew.

"Bye baby, mama's gonna go have a talk with your Nan." Macey told her child.

"'Kay mama, love you." Peepers said while reciving a kiss to his forehead.

Once the door had closed, Peepers joined Merrick on the floor and watched his uncle play one of the many video games that Peepers got him for National Aunt And Uncle's Day last year. Leaning against his Uncle Merrick, Peepers watched as Merrick move his character around on the T.V screen and sigh.

"Nan hates me." Peepers said. Merrick gave a quick look away from his game and pulled his nephew closer.

"Me too bud," Merrick agreed with Peepers. "Me too."
