She didn't think her black portals could produce such a display of colors and surprisingly enough the path was bright. Though she was going insanely fast through the portal she was still mesmerized by the rainbow of colors before her and how to changed drastically.

Even if this pathway could lead to her demise, she felt at peace and no longer afraid. No longer burdened with the life of a warrior, no longer a pawn between two immortal people's ultimate game between each other. Finally free to live her life the way she could choose. She smiles to herself putting her arms behind her head blissfully unaware her ride was about to end.

The other side of the portal opened and the girl didn't end up in an abyss as she expected. Rather she fell straight from the sky into the ocean near the shore. When she floated to the top she immediately taking note of the giant rainbow iridescent tree above a cliff, that was surrounded by a pinky dusk sky. The palm trees that awaited the shore were strangely more twisted than the ones she's seen in her travels.

"I am truly in another world?" The girl thought as she swam towards the shore. Once her feet touched the sand she noted the sand though solid were softer than the sands of deserts she traveled across. Reaching down she cupped the sand letting it sifted through her fingers, it was warm and soft like velvet. A perfect place for a nap or camp if needed. But that would wait for later, right now the girl needed to explore. Specifically towards the giant tree looming above the land.

"I can probably get a good layout if the land this way." She thought, making her way through the jungle careful not to make too much noise. But her belly growled much to her annoyance. "And find something to eat." She walked a few feet more when suddenly a branch was swinging her and swatting her across the face, leaving a scratch. Thankfully her aura was already active the scratch as quickly as it came was gone. Earning a quiet yet audible gasp from the trees.

"Who's there?" The girl called out reaching for her weapon.

"Who indeed?" A young sultry voice called out from the trees above her. "A little rose who's uprooted herself from the garden? Or…" The brightest green eyes she had ever seen appeared from the brush of the trees in front of her. "A weed looking for her next victim?"

"I not a flower or a weed. I'm just a girl who's new around here."

"Then where are you from?" The silky voice asked. "Girl's don't just appear from a burst of rose petals." The voice had a point she had to note, but how could she even trust whatever it was. It anything it was just a trick her mind was making up.

"How do I know you're not some voice I'm making up in my head?" She asked countering the voice's question. Gaining only a maddening chuckle as her answer, but then in a cascade of smoke, a young human boy appeared from thin air in front of her. He was wearing a simple pair of faded purple trousers that were worn at the bottom and a simple striped tunic that was also in shaded of purple. However, despite the fact he was floating in mid-air she noticed his dark purple cat ears poking from his lavender hair and a big fluffy striped shaded purple tail swishing back and forth.

"You-You're a faunus?" She cried out thinking she didn't escape from Remnant after all, but the boy's puzzled expression upon his face said otherwise.

"What is a faunus? He asked as his blue striped tail swished back and forth curiously.

"It's what you are!" She cried, but the boy merely laughed as if it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard.

"I may appear as a boy you silly flower, but I'm a cat all the same." He then evaporated from thin air only to appear from behind her making the girl jump. "But you still didn't answer my question. Where are you from?"

"A world different from this one." She answered earning a look of annoyance. "A place I'm sure you've never heard of."

"Probably, but I'm still curious about your world." He said leaning close peering his striking green into her silver ones. "Or better yet you could tell me about your eyes" He mused. She closed hers in a huff pulling her hood over her head.

"Curiosity killed the cat y'know." She retorted deciding she done with him as she continued to walk towards the giant tree. The boy floated after her tucking his arms behind his head watching the sky.

"Really poor thing. Good thing we have nine lives I suppose" He said trying to continue the conversation. The girl huffed again moving faster but the cat boy kept up with her pace making the girl even more furious.

"Who even are you?" She demanded turning towards him as he evaporated away from her with a laugh. Still laughing he appeared again only he bowed introducing himself.

"Chester Cat at your service, though most wonderlanders call me Chess."

"Wonderlanders?" She mused. "What are wonderlanders?"

"It's what the people here call themselves. After all we are in Wonderland." He answered, but before the girl could Chess any more questions. A low but audible growl came from the direction of the tree.

"Uh oh." Chess murmured. "They're here."

"What's here?" The girl asked, but he provided no answer instead he evaporated into thin air leaving the girl to face whatever was about to emerge from the thick of the jungle. Taking a deep to calm breath to calm herself she took out her weapon, a silver greatsword, that she had named Vorpal, and her shield as a tall a huge rabbit-like Grimm with black fur, branching red and white antlers, and powerful hind legs hopped out of the bushes.

"A Jackalope." She thought raising her sword at the creature. The monster in turn roared as it ran towards her ready to ram its antlers through the girl. Quickly she barrel-rolled out of the way just as it almost reached her. The monster rammed its head into a tree, but rather than stop the creature, pinning it to place, the tree was destroyed into splinters.

"Great." She thought groaning, but still, she knew she could best the creature. Steeling herself she threw the shield as a distraction, but rather than hitting a tree. It, unfortunately, slammed into an unsuspecting Chester Cat making him reappear and fall right in front of the creature who growled at the boy.

"I thought you ran!" The girl shouted at him angrily.

"I was!" He chuckled nervously. "But when you took out your sword there...let's just say my curiosity got the best of me." The Jackalope roared angrily at Chester as it readied to charge straight at Chester, freezing him in place.

"Get out of there, you dumb cat!" She shouted, but her voice failed to reach him. Rather he lied there shaking with fear unable to move in any feeble attempt to run away. The Jackalope wasted no time barreling towards the boy. She knew she would never make it in time, but she couldn't let him die either. Closing her eyes she slowed her breathing as she went to a calm yet determined state of mind.

"Life is precious." She whispered to herself. "And it must be protected."

When she opened them a flash of light cascaded onto the area basking everyone and everything in its brilliance. The Jackalope cried in agony as it evaporated into black flecks of dust just before it reached Chester, who shielded his eyes from the light.

When it faded the girl fell to her knees tired and hungrier than she was before but relieved she could save him. Chester on the other hand couldn't believe what he had just seen. This girl had just killed one of these creatures that had plagued their land with only a blink of an eye. Literally! He wanted to ask where the light had come from, but upon seeing how tired she was. He took pity on the girl. Brushing off the dirt from his clothes he stepped into the air floated over to her offering his gloved hand.

"What do you call yourself?" He asked.

"Alice." She answered as she stood. "Alice Rose."
