Chapter1: Encountering Entities
The Nexus of Souls
Death's Domain
"Wakey, wakey dear," said a delicate, melodic voice, stroking my brows affectionately.
It is a rare occurrence that I felt that alright with somebody touching me. In any case, the gentle embrace and the soft murmurings were quite comfortable.
I drowsily opened my eyes just to close them again as I saw the immense spread of nothingness.
I delicately sat up and attempted to focus on the woman sitting before me. She had dazzling dark hair, skin so pale that the sun must be unfamiliar with where she resided, and an attractive figure with adequate curves in the perfect places. If that wasn't sufficient, the smooth robe that adorned her body left nothing to the imagination. Her most striking feature however was her eyes; two dark orbs that drew you in like a moth to a flame.
"I didn't realize that angels existed in hell," I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind.
She snickered. It was a sweet and pleasant sound that sent shivers down my spine.
"Welcome to the Nexus," she said with satisfaction and pride clear in her onyx eyes. "This is where every one of the spirits must stop to go to the hereafter."
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Death. Though you can call me Morticia darling," she winked conspiratorially to me.
I reddened vigorously. I didn't at any point, imagine that Goddess of Death would be so sexy.
"Happy to see you appreciate me," she answered teasingly.
"You can read minds?" I was amazed by her unexpected answer. Although it was probably a moronic inquiry considering she was fucking Death incarnate, yet as an extremely hot lady. I reviled my brain for such considerations. This entity could, in a real sense, kill my whole presence with scarcely a thought.
She snickered. That was truly humiliating.
"Try not to stress sweetheart, you're too charming to even think about bothering, and yes I can understand minds, and no I won't obliterate your spirit," she said delicately.
I sighed in relief. "Wait! Do I even have a body?" Came the question.
"You're taking this better than I expected. Not that I interface with humans that much." Death (or Morticia, I suppose) talked unexpectedly.
"It seems like I have, at last, kicked the bucket," I pondered. "So how would I go to the afterlife?"
She wavered, "You can't."
"Amazing! So no afterlife for me, right?" I proceeded wryly. "What else, will I likewise be tormented forever, Lady Death? It's not as if it's anything new. However, an explanation would be appreciated."
"Spirits shouldn't reach here before their end. You killing yourself makes a predicament."
"You could either restart your life, stay here forever with no chance of great beyond, or be embodied into an alternate world. "
"Please, wouldn't you be able to simply pass my soul on? In any event, I'll know peace," I begged her.
"I can't. Your end isn't close. I can manifest you in this present reality where magic exists. Where you can satisfy all your dreams, gain every power you can envision, and carry on with the existence you've longed for. Isn't that what you desire? Or you could stay here with my brilliant company. You should stay here Luv. It's gonna be great," she explained almost excitedly.
A pause.
"I never knew it's good to have the option to interact with somebody," she said briskly.
The gesture was practically human and I could understand her torment. I assume being an entity like her is a lonely existence. I could sympathize with her.
"There are very few things that hurt more than the torture imposed by one's own heart."
"It will bring you bliss, Luv" she proceeded.
"Bliss isn't what I look for and peace wasn't what I expected it to be. I guess you must choose between limited options as I do, Morticia."
"Guess I can try to live again. But surely a magical world doesn't exist right..?"
"There is an infinite number of universes and realities. I can simply transport you into a world with magic and whatever you desire. You do have the right to choose where you want to live again."
"But won't it be obvious? I can act well, but it would cause a lot of suspicions."
"You always wanted to write a Harry Potter fanfiction, didn't you? Where you could have been his twin."
I nodded, wondering where she was getting.
"Wonderful," she clapped. "Desire granted."
"Wait, what are you talking-"
"-Great," she interrupted him cheerfully. "I trust you will live long in this reality and not meet me before your time. It would prompt a similar issue again and again."
I nodded. It was not impossible, considering my luck.
"Won't you be alone again?" I inquired.
"You have been marked by my presence. While I can't influence the human world, I assume I could visit you sometimes. You just have to find a way to get my brilliant company."
I snorted.
"I'll be restoring you into the line of Peverell as the current descendent. You'll be established as Ares Potter. The genuine Ares Potter has as of late has died so I can supplant his spirit with yours."
"But won't he be dead then? It will be like robbing a body." I asked. It wasn't as if mortals would ever know about death.
"You'll understand when you get there. Not much time is left. Bubbyeee." She winked.
"Goodbye, Morticia. I should be satisfied with what I can get. " I assured her.
"I shall send you my regards from beyond the veil," came the gentle reply.
She drew nearer and pressed her palms to my face out of nowhere. It was energizing. I felt much lighter. As if all of my interests, all of my torture was essentially non-existent. It was both enthusiastic and delicate to my emotions.
And then I was gone.
Looks like it was becoming a regular thing.
Another entity suddenly appeared in the vast void.
"Fate," snarled Death angrily, all her peaceful demeanor vanishing in an instant. "You have no right to interfere in my domain."
"You're as pleasant as usual, I see, Morticia," said Fate mockingly.
"I do hope that you have a purpose, as I have no interest in participating in your plans." Death snarled.
"My, my, associating with mortals Morticia. The three are all children of a prophecy; their fate is entwined with the one that escapes your grasp. I do hope you better appreciate my efforts. Though I think some company may benefit you." Drawled Fate.
"I'm far above your plebian machinations, you stupid bint. Remember, Entity you may be, no one escapes my grasp. Many have tried and failed. You'll be a fine plaything for me," Morticia practically purred.
"Says the bitch with a stick up her ass." Fate replied sarcastically.
"Leave, Fate. NOW!" Demanded Morticia dangerously. All pleasant demeanor vanishing in an instant. "Remember where you are before I show you myself."
Fate left in a bright flash while Death simply melted into the surroundings, leaving the place away from reality as an empty, endless void.
A soul could be seen traversing through the confines of space-time. It soon found what it sought and went into it. Simultaneously, another soul joined the domain of death. At last, in peace, free of his sufferings and the tortures of life.
