Hey guys this is the second chapter of misadventures of Sia. In this chapter, I introduced another Oc to derive a little more from the original plot. However, the story will still follow the canon storyline of highschool dxd for a while.

Now enjoy this chapter.

Constructive criticism is appreciated

A few days have passed since Sia has been under surveillance. Koneko was still observing him, but Sia already got used to it. Neither of them talked very much, but they got used to the presence of each other. Honestly, Sia preferred that way of communication. He hates small talk anyways.

Other than that Sia also learned some new things about his ability. The first thing is that his ability is limited to his understanding. He can't erase something that he doesn't understand. For example, he can erase his death, because he knows and understands who "Sia" is, but he can't erase the death of a stranger, because he doesn't know or understand who that person is.

However, the level of understanding he needs varies from complexity. The more complex something is, the more information he needs. That isn't even a real limitation for him. He loves to research and learn new things after all.,

If he were to compare the limitations of his ability, he would compare it to a sniper. Without knowing where your target is, you can't snipe him. Also, you need far more information to locate someone, who is hiding in a labyrinth than someone who is hiding in a small house. When the target is hiding in a small house, you can still kind of predict where the target is, doing that isn't that easy, when your target is hiding in a more complex place such as a labyrinth.

The second thing is that he somehow unlocked the ability to use magic. However, he only learned that through coincidence, as he explored his primary ability, "The gift of Akasha". While learning and erasing different things to test the limits of his ability, he realized that the things he erases, leave traces of weird energy behind. It's almost invisible to the eye and he only saw the traces a few times. However, he is sure that it is something similar to mana.

After finding that out he trained his eyes to be able to perceive mana, which made everything way easier. First, his understanding of things heightened through the ability to read mana. He called that ability "structural analysis", however, the ability is still developing, so there are quite a few things that he can't analyze yet. Second, he began to understand how magic works. At least the basics of it. Human magics are essentially relying on things such as knowledge and calculation. For example, by training his eyes, he can now see the mana of everything. Mana is everywhere. Using magic is kind of like programming something "If I do this, this happens". However, like programming 70% of the time, you don't know what you are doing and just try different methods till it works.

Right now Sia is only able to use two types of magic. Fire and Ice magic. When molecules vibrate, they're bumping into each other—transferring kinetic energy to other molecules, which radiates this energy as heat. That means that Sia just has to speed up the molecules by increasing the density of the mana in the air, which results in creating fire. Doing the opposite creates ice. However, not long after finding this out, he realized that he sucks at magic. However, the reason for that isn't that he doesn't have enough mana. On the contrary, he has more than enough, but he isn't able to control it. Instead of creating fire, he somehow creates explosions and ice magic is something that he is barely able to use in the first place. If this goes on, Sia has to create a tool, that helps him control the magic.

The third thing that he realized is that some people in the academy have rather dark mana. It feels evil somehow. However, even that varies from person to person. For example, Ria's mana feels more destructive than Akeno's, which feels like a mix of tainted, pure, and dark mana. Issei feels like a reptile, Koneko's mana is similar to the mana of nature, and so on. Still, they all have one thing in common. It feels dark. At least it's confirmed that they're no angels. It also seems like Issei isn't a human anymore.

Speaking of Issei, today was a little off. Koneko didn't follow him anymore and Issei wasn't at school. Did something happen? He didn't want to admit it, but he was kind of worried about them. He grew to like Koneko in the last few days and Issei and he shares a bond of getting killed by the same person, even if he didn't know it yet.

However, whatever happens to them wasn't exactly his problem, so he shouldn't worry about it too much. It was around evening when he went out home. Sia spent the whole day after school trying to find out more about magic at the library. He primarily read old books that looked like they were written by a maniac. The fact that they're so absurd makes it even more believable in his opinion.

Sia looked up into the sky. The shining moon was as bright as ever. For a while, he just stood there. Doing nothing and just staring at the moon. How long has it been since he saw the moon like this? In his past life, Sia didn't have many chances to go outside, and even in this life he rather spends his time at home, alone. Maybe he should try to get some friends. After all, he already spent a lifetime being alone, even though that life was rather short.

"Even if your power is doubled, you can't even evade this small spear I made. Even if the power of 1 is doubled, it's only 2. You can't narrow the power gap between us. Do you understand now, low-class Devil-kun?"

Sia heard a familiar voice. And then heard someone falling. He turned his head to the direction where the sounds were coming. However, it was dark so he couldn't see anything, therefore he activated his structural analysis. He could see some tainted pure mana, some pure, almost holy mana and...Issei's mana. His mind began to connect the dots. Issei was getting attacked by the fallen angel that already killed him once. Even though Issei was not a human anymore, his mana was still weak. He could barely see it.

Sia really didn't have a reason to interfere. Sia was curious about Issei, but other than that, he doesn't really care about what happens to him. As long as the fallen angel didn't interfere in his life again, he couldn't care less. However, Sia was curious. How strong is he compared to the fallen angel now? He isn't a battle junkie, but he likes to learn things, for the sake of learning. After all, he can't die anyway, so why not satisfy his curiosity? Admittedly, there was also a little grudge against the angel, even though he wouldn't admit it.

Sia began to speed up. His walking turned into running. And then a gunshot rang out in his head. And he vanished.

-Akasha-

"Did it hurt when you fell from heaven? Because you're an angel.", someone whispered in Raynare's ear quietly but also seductively. Raynare turned around, only to see a face that she shouldn't see. It was the second boy that she killed that day. Raynare could still remember it clearly. It was quite a pity. The boy was quite handsome. Striking yellow eyes and messy, raven black hair combined with smooth, pale skin. He was quite the looker, honestly. If Raynare had more time she would have played with him a little more, but here he is. Alive. "No, seriously, did it hurt? I'm quite curious about how that works exactly."

And he didn't feel like a devil either. He still felt like a human.

"Gran-san?", the low-class Devil said in disbelief. It seemed like he didn't expect this either. However, Gran didn't answer as he raised his forefinger.

"Fireball.", he muttered as a red ball of fire began to manifest itself above his forefinger. However, instead of growing, it shrunk in size. Raynare smirked lightly as she saw that. Did he really think he could beat her with that laughable fireball of his? He was probably even weaker than the devil.

"Boom."

The fireball exploded. The might of the explosion flung her back for several meters. It didn't damage her, however. It was just annoying and stung a little bit.

"You bastard!", Raynare created two light spears and threw them at him as she spread out her wings and rushed at him. He barely managed to dodge the first one, but the second one managed to impale his right leg. She smirked in confidence. The guy might be a little bit stronger than the devil, but it was still not something that she can't handle.

Raynare could hear a dry chuckle escaping the boy's lips, is going mad from the pain? His leg was just impaled, so why is he laughing? However, that didn't matter as she created another light spear and accelerated.

"You know, the first time you killed me you did a better job." The boy said as he pulled the spear out of his leg, without even wincing. The wound was now gone. Raynare stopped as she saw that. Does he have a regeneration sacred gear? Now that she thinks about it, she doesn't know anything about the capabilities of the boy, " that's not quite how you kill someone…"

The boy looked at the spear. Analyzing it for a little while. A whistle escaped his lips, "This spear is actually pretty cool."

Then he shook his head as he raised the light spear and began laughing like a maniac, "This is how you kill someone."

And then he stabbed himself with it. Through his heart. Silence. Raynare's eyes widened at that sight. That guy truly was crazy! He just killed himself!

"Gran-san!", the devil shouted in disbelief. His voice was trembling and she couldn't blame him. He just saw someone he knew kill himself while laughing like a maniac.

However, whatever happened after that is something that would haunt her in her nightmares. The silence didn't hold on for long, as the corpse began to chuckle dryly. It then raised an arm and pulled the spear out of its body, "You're actually pretty boring, huh? Are the other fallen angels stronger? Probably, I doubt that an actual competent fallen angel would have enough time to kill humans for no reason."

"You know what? I'm way too lazy to deal with you, so I'll let you go, for now.", he then vanished. Raynare suddenly felt a sharp pain in her thigh. She winced slightly as she looked down, only to see her own spear piercing her leg. She could feel someone breathing into her ear. The guy was behind her, right now, "An eye for an eye, I guess. Or in this case a leg for a leg. Just so you know, don't mistake my actions for kindness, you're just not worth staining my hands for."

The boy then grabbed the spear and proceeded to move it around, while still sticking in her thigh. Tears formed in her eyes. The pain was unbearable. Raynare couldn't do anything against it either, for she was frozen with fear. Before the boy vanished, she looked him into the eyes. This was one of the worst decisions that she ever made. His eyes...they felt so old. Ancient even. They were similar to her father's but still different in some way, "This is my first and last warning. Get out of my sight and tell the other fallen angels to leave me alone. I don't care who or what you are. If you keep annoying me, I will show you why humans fear other humans the most."

She nodded as she felt the presence vanish. Without even wasting a single moment she escaped from the scene. She has to warn the others about it. There is someone or something dangerous residing in this town.

-Akasha-

Sia Gran was someone Issei didn't like at all. The prince and the knight of kuoh academy were the two most popular guys at school, but while Kiba was nice to everyone, Sia was someone that ignores everyone that tries to talk to him. Now that Issei thinks about it, it actually looks more like he is spacing out.

Still, that someone he didn't like at all came from seemingly nowhere to help him. Issei has to get up and warn him. Raynare is a fallen, she is not someone a mere human can beat. The pain of the wound that Raynare gave him gradually faded. That's because a green light was enveloping his body.

Asia was healing his wounds and the spear of light gradually got smaller, and it eventually disappeared.

"Thank you, Asia.", Issei said as he tried to stand up. However, he was still too exhausted to stand up, so he collapsed.

"Ise-san!", Asia tried to catch Issei, but he was too heavy for her frail arms, "You're still too exhausted to fight!"

Issei shook his head. He can't just do nothing while someone is dying, "I have to help him, Asia! He will die if he tries to fight with Raynare!"

"Fireball"

Issei turned in the direction of the voice. It was Sia, who was creating a small ball of fire that exploded a few seconds later. The explosion flung her back. Asia gasped lightly and Issei's eyes widened in amazement. Sia was so cool! He just came out of nowhere and saved them, just like one of those harem protagonists! Issei has to get stronger. He can't fall back or else Sia may create a harem before he does! That is something that he can't accept, after all, he will be the Harem king.

The fight then proceeded as Sia dodged a light spear. The second one impaled his leg. However, that didn't stop him, as he pulled it out like it was nothing. Issei winced at that sight. That must have hurt.

And then he stabbed himself with the spear. Through his heart. TROUGH. HIS. HEART.

"I-Ise-kun…", Asia muttered. Her body was shaking and she had tears in her eyes. Issei couldn't blame her. The cute nun just saw someone that saved her kill himself.

"Gran-san!", Issei shouted in disbelief. This isn't happening, right? Why would he do something like this?

That question was answered as he began laughing again and pulled the spear out of his body. The wound was gone. What was that? Now Issei was getting jealous. Sia has some kind of super cool power that can revive him and Asia has amazing healing powers, while Issei can merely double his power. Now that was just unfair.

Sia then began to teleport behind Raynare. Now he can teleport too? What was his sacred gear? Son Goku? He then vanished as Raynare began to fly away.

"Are you guys okay?", a voice asked from behind. It was Sia. Issei had many questions but the thing that bothered him the most was why he just let Raynare go like that.

"W-why did u let Raynare go, Gran-san?", Issei asked, confused. Sia just shrugged in response.

"Uh, I don't enjoy killing, I guess?", Issei nodded in understanding. He too didn't want to kill, after all.

"I just scared her a little.", Sia shrugged while saying that like it was no big deal. He, a human, just made a fallen angel fear for her life, while he couldn't do anything about it. He was just too weak. Even as a devil he is not strong enough to protect himself and those he cares about.

"So, are you guys okay?" it seemed like Sia tried to change the topic. Issei just nodded hesitantly, while Asia just stared at him in awe. Why was she staring at Sia like that? Wait, it can't be, right? Did Asia fall in love with him? Damn pretty boys!

"Thank you for saving us, my lord.", Asia said while bowing down passionately. Silence. Sia gave Issei a look that said something like "what?" and Issei responded with a confused look.

"Your what?"

"My lord and savior, Jesus Christ!"

Issei stared at Sia in bewilderment. Sia blinked. Once. And then twice. Issei could see the confused look on his face, which was very amusing to him. Seeing pretty boys suffer is the third best, after getting a harem and oppai.

"Only Jesus can come back from the dead like he did when he returned to the side of our Father. My lord, you were even kind enough to let that angel, although a fallen one, escape. I'm honored to get saved by you, my lord."

Issei was now suppressing laughter while Sia just laughed awkwardly.

"Is that so? Ha ha ha ha…", he then turned to Issei. his gaze then hardened.

"What are you going to do now?", Issei then suddenly asked, interrupting Sia's awkward laughter. "I want to introduce you to Buchou, and maybe you could join our peerage?"

Sia shook his head very swiftly. It seems like he isn't eager to meet Buchou. What was the reason though? Did something happen between the two of them?

"Nah, I'm good. Talking to people is rather taxing.", Sia then stopped talking as he began to stare into space. It seems like he was spacing out.

"Gran-san?"Sia began to shake his head energetically as he nodded to himself as if he remembered something.

"Ah, sorry Hyoudou, but there is something that I want to know.", Sia crossed his arm as he then stared at Issei with a hardened gaze, "What exactly are you guys? You aren't human but you're no angels either. I'm quite curious about what you all are. Rias, Akeno, Koneko, Kiba share a rather dark mana texture."

So that was it? Issei was getting nervous when the atmosphere around them shifted. It wouldn't hurt to tell Sia about them, right? It seems like he is already aware of the supernatural anyway, plus he saved Asia and him.

"We are devils.", Sia's eyes then widened in surprise as they began to twinkle right after. Asia seemed to notice that, as she tried to shield him.

"B-but they're good devils, my lord! Please don't hurt them! They are way nicer than the church and the fallen angels!"

"A-asia…"

Issei didn't know if he should laugh or cry right now. On the one hand, the look on Sia's face was hilarious, and on the other hand, Asia trying to protect him from "Jesus" was touching.

"No horns? Or do you hide them? Sia leaned forward, there was only a few inches distance between the faces of the two boys. The black-haired boy was analyzing the devil with a curious gaze.

He was way too close! Their faces were almost touching! Didn't he know what personal space was?

However, Sia didn't realize what he was doing as he was too busy analyzing his new test subject.

"I-Ise-san, my lord, am I being an annoyance? I am not interfering with something, am I?", Asia asked shyly as she hid her face in her hands while blushing deeply. She covered her face with her hands, however, she didn't couldn't help but peek a little bit.

"A-asia! It's not what you think it is!", Issei yelled out in embarrassment. Seriously, didn't Sia know what personal space was? Or perhaps...he does everything on purpose? Does Sia like men?

Issei's eyes widened at that thought. He couldn't help but stare at Sia, who was now searching for some kind of devil contract on his body.

Now that he gets a better look at Sia, wasn't Sia kind of feminine? His face does have a few feminine features and he was sure that Sia would've been a beauty if he was a girl. Issei could kind of understand why the girls fall for him.

No.

Wait.

Is he getting corrupted right now? Issei doesn't swing that way! He likes oppai! Issei has to push Sia away right now before the situation escalates!

"Get off of me, you pervert!", Issei screamed as he summoned his sacred gear to punch Sia away.

-Akasha-

In a few seconds, Sia was sitting on one of the couches in the Student Council room.

"Gran-san." Sona started "It has come to our knowledge that you are aware of... certain things that should've been kept secret…"

How did they find out? After a few seconds of thinking, Sia figured that Issei probably told them about him. He couldn't blame him, honestly. After all, it was probably Rias who gave him a second chance at life. Sia looked at Rias, who was sitting right next to Sona. She was smiling, but the smile didn't quite reach her eyes. Her eyes were calculating, the same as Sona. The rest of the room was all focusing intently on me.

"Were revealed to you. Though, for some unknown reason, we can't erase your memories of these events. " The redhead finished the sentence of Sona, as Ria's smile quickly vanished "who are you and why are you here?"

"Who am I?", Sia began to stare into space as he cupped his chin against his hands "That's a rather philosophical question isn't it? But that's probably not what you meant." Sia sighed lightly as he ran his hands through his hair, making it even messier than it already was. "I am who you think I am, Sia Gran."

"If you proclaim to be just a normal human, then why do you have the ability to make a fallen angel retreat?" Sona questioned him in an irritated tone. It seems like Sona didn't like his answer from before, even though it was the truth. He never claimed to be normal after all.

"I'm sorry, but when did I say that I was normal?", Sia responded in an almost convincing, innocent tone. "While there is something special about me, I'm not obligated to tell you as long as I am not causing trouble for anybody, right?"

Both of the girls stared at each other, not expecting the admittance that he was no normal human, however that only sped up the process. Sia relaxed his body while leaning forward a little bit. A little smile could be seen on his face as he tilted his head a little bit to create an innocent look "Why don't we play a little game? I can ask you guys two questions and you can ask me two questions. We'll have to answer them, regardless of what these questions are. So, do you want to play this game with me?"

Rias looked at Sona expectantly, she was probably waiting for her approval or something similar to that. Sona waited for a little bit before she nodded hesitantly. Sia already predicted that they would agree to his game, considering that he was an unknown factor for now. Information was the most valuable thing in this situation. Plus they didn't make a contract or something like that, which means that they are free to lie, as long as he doesn't notice it. However, the best lies are made of half-truths and in his case, half-truths are enough information for him to figure out in what situation he is in right now.

"First question. Why do you guys let fallen angels rampage around your territory? This town is supposedly split between the two of you, Gremory-san and Shitori-san, so why don't you guys do something about it? I also know that you guys are devils, so there must be a reason why you don't interfere with their business. Is it because you guys can't? Are the fallen angels stronger? Or is there another reason?", Sia questioned, not realizing that he revealed more of his theories than he wanted to.

"That's indeed true. There are indeed a few reasons why we can't interfere with the business of the fallen angels yet.", Sona answered calmly, not exposing the nervosity that she felt when he addressed that situation. His ability to deduce that much information with only the information that the town is supposedly split between the two of them is kind of scary.

Sia nodded slowly at the confirmation of his theory. However, something in her sentence bugged him. Yet? So is this situation only temporary? What could be the reasons why they don't want to interfere with the fallen angels? Do they perhaps want to create a good relationship with them for now? No, he can't be too sure yet. He has to consider more probabilities.

"It is our turn now, right?", Rias asked rhetorically, not even waiting for his answer "What are your abilities? Ise told me that you can revive yourself, is that true?"

Sia chuckled lightly, before answering the question. "That is not entirely right. While I can undo my wounds, I don't exactly revive myself."

Sia technically wasn't lying. He doesn't revive himself. He erases his own death, being alive is only an after effect of erasing his death. Rias' eyes widened at that "revelation" of his ability. While Sona tried to keep up her poker mask, Sia could catch a glimpse of her shocked expression for a fraction of a second. Or it was just his imagination. It could be both honestly.

"I see,", Sona finally said after a few seconds of silence. "That is indeed a very strong ability. It does sound a bit similar to Rias' new bishop's sacred gear. Are there perhaps more of its kind?"

Sacred Gear? Twilight healing? Bishop? Well, Issei did tell him about joining something like a peerage, was the Bishop a part of it? Is that like some kind of hierarchy? Sia figured that the new Bishop was probably that one blond girl Issei was with. Sia can vividly remember her using some green light to heal Issei. Judging by her clothes she was probably related to the church, so why did she want to join the devils? Was it because of the protection they gave her? Or was it because of something else entirely? Sia couldn't help but speculate about her reasoning, even though it wasn't exactly his business to take care of. His head was forming countless different ideas, however, he has to concentrate right now. He was spacing out in an important conversation.

"Is that so?", Sia acted as if it wasn't surprising to him at all. Don't let the enemies find out about your weakness. Even though he wasn't exactly sure if the devils were enemies at all as they were pretty nice till now. "Second question. Why are you guys going to a human school? Shouldn't there be something like a super cool magic school?"

"I wanted to. Also, I like Japanese culture.", Rias shrugged while breaking off eye contact. She was blushing slightly as she looked away. Sia just blankly stared at her for a few seconds.

"Huh?" Sia was confused. Was that truly the reason why she was going to the human world? There wasn't a plan to enslave humanity? No, she could be lying...still, if she was lying, then why is she so embarrassed then?

"I see.", he muttered quietly while also saying it loud enough that everybody could hear it. Rias was refusing to look at him while the girl behind her, Akeno, was chuckling, breaking the cold mask that she was wearing during the whole conversation.

"Ara ara Buchou, are you perhaps flustered? Gran-san must be disappointed, seeing such a harmless and peaceful devil. You have to act more devilish, Buchou.", Akeno teased while smiling...kindly? Sia couldn't really classify that smile, however, it seemed to rub him the wrong way. Seeing Akeno smile like that really creeped him out for some reason.

"So, the second question.", coughed Sona, trying to gather Sia's attention. "What are your goals? Why do you want to know these things?"

"Goals? Well, there aren't any. I just go to this school because I live in this town and have to. Do I need another reason?", His gaze awkwardly shifting through the room. He was never uncomfortable about talking about his goals, after all, he doesn't have any. He does things because he wants to do them. Learning for the sake of learning, there is really no other reason for his thirst for knowledge.

Nobody said anything. Sona just blankly stared at him while Rias still looked away. Sia could see how Ria's shoulders were shaking though, was she angry at him?

"D...did I say something wrong?", Sia asked hesitantly, confused at the sudden silence that reigned in the room.

"N-no, just…", Sona stuttered, trying to find the right words "You were going to a school, being fully aware that there are several devils at the school, just because you had to, without even considering the option that we might use this school as a way to lure our prey to us?"

"No, I considered this option a few times." Sia shook his head with a serious expression on his face. "So… Do you use this school as bait?"

Suddenly Rias busted out in laughter.

"He's an Idiot!", she proclaimed while laughing hysterically. Sia raised an eyebrow in response.

"What do you mean Idiot? I wasn't thinking that, I was just considering the possibility!" Sia tried to defend himself, however, she didn't stop laughing.

"Ara? Is Gran-san actually very stupid after all?", Akeno teased him in a mocking tone while still keeping that scary smile on her face. How dare they call him an idiot! He might be a little bit lazy but he is still very smart. In fact, many people even consider him as a prodigy or a genius!

"Sorry, Gran-san, after hearing about your ability to be able to heal your lethal wounds almost instantly and the rumors of you being a cold and calculative individual, we didn't expect someone so...careless .", Sona apologized, however, it seemed more like an insult to him. Isn't she basically admitting that she was disappointed by him?

"Are...are you guys making fun of me right now?", Sia asked hesitantly, hoping that they aren't.

"No no, of course not .", the redhead said after she calmed down. They were totally making fun of him.

He considered that option, but what was supposed to do? Staying home because he was scared of getting sacrificed? Actually, now that he thinks about it, it does sound kind of careless. Well, he can't die anyway, so why should he care about such things. Yeah, that was totally the reason why he still went to school. It was not because he was a careless idiot.

Besides that, even if he considered the possibility, he was way too lazy to act on it. Getting eaten or sacrificed to satan would be easier and less annoying than finding a believable reason to stay home. He didn't want to be seen as a delinquent, who casually skips school after all.

"Was that it?" Sia was slowly getting tired by this conversation. His social battery is draining rapidly and he has to recharge it again by being alone "I do have a few other things that I have to take care of."

No, he didn't.

"Yea, of course, you can go now. However, I would like to meet you tomorrow for a game of chess, if you would be willing to come.", Sona offered. A game of chess? It was probably to find out how good his strategic abilities were. However, Sia sucked at chess, even though he was really good at other strategic games, mostly videogames. Still, he had no reason to refuse, so he just nodded slightly, as he left the room.

-Akasha-

"Sir, there is someone that wants to speak with you." an old butler said, to the middle-aged man that was sitting in front of him, doing some paperwork.

"Is that so? Tell them to piss off then.", the man, William, growled, arguably infuriated. He had no time for some paparazzi interrupting his work. He was already busy enough as it is!

"But sir, he said he was one of your old friends.", the butler calmly stated. William didn't respond to that. He didn't have many friends. The only friends that he ever made were when he was still a part of Blank.

Blank was an organization that had the goal to create true equality in the world. It never had a name though, that was the reason why the people simply called it blank. However, Blank was destroyed a few years ago, so it can't be any of them.

"I doubt that any of my friends would visit me right now, he is probably just some stranger that wants to threaten me for my money or something.",

William grunted, now being really annoyed by the stranger who pretended to be one of his friends.

"My apologies Sir, but he's already in the house. He is standing on the other side of the door right as of this moment."

"Whatever, let him in, I'm going to show him that it isn't a good idea to mess with me.", William said calmly, trying to calm himself down. The butler nodded, not knowing why the young master was getting so angry about an old friend of his.

The butler went out and the room went silent. A few seconds of silence. Nobody came in. Then William heard someone knocking on the door, which was pretty unnecessary in his opinion. And then someone entered the room.

William almost choked when he saw that person who entered the room.

"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" the man who entered asked. His long snow-white hair was tied together in a ponytail. His striking ocean-blue eyes were piercing William with his calm gaze. A gentle smile was resting on his face, however, that same smile didn't quite reach his eyes. His eyes were empty, feigning emotions, that he doesn't actually possess. At least not anymore.

"Naiver.", William whispered, almost unhearable. Naiver didn't react to that, ignoring him and sitting down on the couch right in front of him. He turned his head to William, still smiling.

"So, how have you been?" Naiver asked, staring William directly into the eyes. These eyes. They were the thing that William feared the most.

"H...How?" William questioned, trying to avert his eyes to look somewhere else. However, he wasn't able to. William feared these eyes, but still, he lost himself in them for some reason he himself couldn't understand. It was always like this and it would never change.

"What do you mean how?" Naiver questioned, tilting his head to the side, feigning ignorance. A few strands of his white hair fell over his eyes, the same gentle expression remaining on his face.

"You know exactly what I mean, bastard!" William opened the drawer, taking out the gun he stored in it. Even though he never believed...or rather he didn't want to believe that Naiver was still alive, he was always prepared for such a situation, living in constant fear of the ghost haunting him in his dreams. He pointed the gun at Naiver, determination could be seen on William's face.

"Are you even capable of shooting me again?", Naiver asked innocently, his eyes narrowing a little bit. William could see in his eyes that Naiver was mocking him. William nodded slightly. He pulled the trigger once and he would gladly do so again. However, he didn't realize that his own body was betraying his words, his hands, were shaking.

"Is that so?" Naiver muttered, standing up and approaching William. Naiver kneed down, pressing his head against the gun "Then do it. Shoot me. Kill me just like you did three years ago."

William began to faintly smell the smell of smoke. The smell. It was exactly like the scene that happened three years ago. Naiver chuckled dryly "Isn't it nostalgic?"

Naiver was once again, staring him into the eyes with his own hollow ones. The gentle smile still remaining on his face. He was smiling, even though a gun was pointed directly onto his head. William wanted to pull the trigger. He couldn't. His fingers were losing the feeling in it. He already did it once, so why can't he do it again?

"You set the main quarter in flames, burning every single one of your friends alive, just to kill me.", Naiver raised his hands and put his hands on Williams, pressuring his index finger that was laying on the trigger, encouraging him to pull it. "Was that worth it? While all your friends died, you're living on, enjoying your life."

"It was for the greater good. Your plans...they would have started a war, killing hundreds of thousands of people." William stated. However, his determination was wavering. Naiver was right though, did that justify his actions? No, every day he can still see the scene looping in his nightmares. The look of betrayal, when William set the main quarter on fire, the screams for help, while their body was burning alive. William considered killing himself many times, however, he decided to should live on. Killing himself would let all the sacrifices that he made go to waste. He would achieve an equal world, the world that every single one of blank wished for, without using violence.

"A single war for equality between all the races, greatly lowering the number of deaths in the long run. Wouldn't that be a reasonable compromise?" Naiver slowly closed his eyes, shaking his head "All my plans are for the greater good."

"You're insane!" William shouted, trying to pull the trigger. However, his body wasn't able to move. Why. why. why? Why couldn't he pull the trigger? Killing Naiver would save many people, but he still couldn't bring himself to kill him.

"Somebody who murdered his friends is saying that I am crazy? Aren't you just trying to push all of your faults to me?" The smell of smoke was getting stronger. In the corner of his eye, William could see the flames that spread in the room. "Besides that, you also failed.

No. He might have failed but he was going to correct his mistakes now.

"You can still remember Nia, right? Or did you forget her too? The one who trusted you the most. The one who loved you the most." Naiver's smile was slowly turning into a crooked, dark one "She told me that she wanted to confess to you when everything was over. Living together with you, in a world where she doesn't have to fear the power of the other races. Creating a family with you. Spending the rest of her time with you. And you betrayed her. You did that for the greater good? Was the greater good more worth than the person, that you loved?"

Williams's hands were shaking. A tear ran down his face. The fire was growing bigger and bigger with each second, surrounding him and Naiver. The screams of his employees could be heard throughout the mansion, however, William wasn't in his working space right now. He was at the main quarter. Three years ago.

Seeing his first and only love burning alive. He could still remember the look of betrayal on her face perfectly. But it wasn't his fault. It had to be done. For the greater good.

"After all the sins that you've committed, you still think that I am the insane one? That I am the one that was wrong?" Naiver questioned, furrowing his eyebrows. A genuine look of confusion was appearing on his face, staring at William. "Are you even pointing the gun in the right direction? Do you even deserve to keep on living? With all these sins that you've committed?"

Naiver's expression turned into a caring one. "I am sorry to say this, but I don't think that even hell would ever accept you. All these years you have been lying to yourself, haven't you? Trying to convince yourself that you did the right thing, trying to convince yourself that everything you did was for the greater good. But in the end, it was because you were scared. Scared of dying for our ideals, killing everyone that could accuse you of being scared, so that you could keep on living without ever thinking about that. You call me insane, but what are you then? You're no better than a true monster."

Williams's grip on the gun loosened immensely. He lowered his arms, staring blankly at Naiver. He was right, he was scared of dying. Was he lying to himself the whole time? Did he really kill everyone because he was scared? William raised the gun, pointing it at his own head.

"You were right. I was pointing the gun in the wrong direction. I should have used it to kill the true monster.", William muttered, tears running down his face. It was all his fault. Everything because he was scared. He didn't want to live on like this. In fact, death was something that he didn't deserve. He had to live with his sins. But he can't. He is not strong enough, to keep on living, knowing that he killed everyone because of his own, selfish reasons.

A gunshot rang out.

Naiver was staring down at the lifeless body in front of him, expressionless. After a few seconds of staring at the lifeless body, he turned around, looking at the flames that were engulfing the whole mansion. He had to admit. Seeing the flames burning everything down for the third time, does feel really nostalgic.
