Note:

I hope you all are enjoying the story so far, I'm open to any and all ideas.

And just to make things clear about my version of the horde and how things work in this version, cadets are match with partners to build trust and be a strong team before they are put into teams of 6,(this is means 3 partners are teamed together).

So in this case Adora and Catra are partners, all sets share rooms with bunks, this is to give partners privacy.

I hope this gives a little insight into how this world works, if you have any questions feel free to message me!

Chapter 2: Cover for me.

After hours of Adora and I mucking around on the roof tops, talking about her promotion and all the great things we would do once we can get out of this hell hole, we're gonna change the world.

We soon retired back to the privacy of our room, deciding to have a chill night, skipping out on our nightly sparring and workout, (Obviously my idea).

Rolling over in bed I look over to the right of the room as Adora appears from our bathroom, her grey sweats clinging to her body, white oversized shirt hanging from her shoulder, I could feel something ignite in my stomach as I try and tear my eyes from her body, internally groaning as she takes a seat beside me, drying her hair with a towel looking down at me, a gleam in her eyes. 'God she caught me gawking' shaking my head of the thoughts as I look back at her.

"Promise you're okay with my promotion ?" I reach my hand out for hers, watching as her cheeks take on a light shade of pink, eyes locking as I pull her down, my other hand reaching up to caress her cheek, thumb rubbing against her soft skin.

"Look" tilting my head to the side with a small smile, "I'm not exactly thrilled at the ugh of my partner going out there without me" shrugging as I pull away slightly at the thought, looking down at our hands, "I just wish I could come with you" she picks my chin up, making our eyes lock again, letting out a shaky breathe as my eyes water slightly, "I just wanna leave this place before I die of boredom" letting my body fall back dramatically on the bed, I bounce up at the impact, giggling as I look back up at her.

"I'm sorry Catra" laying down beside me as she lays a hand on my stomach, "I wish you could come with me" scooting closer she lays her head against mine. Noses brushing against each other's, as we soak in the time alone, soaking in each others company.

"Promise me you'll be safe out there" whispering up to her, I could feel my eyes water with concern, I could feel my worries fade away and she snuggles closer into me, nose in the crook of my neck, I could feel her smile, like a thought had come to mind as she got comfortable against my body.

Moving out of my arms she reaches over me and into the bedside table beside my bed, pulling out something that jingled, my ears perk up at the sound, looking over my eyes follow her hand as they widen in glee at the realisation.

"I will I promise" smiling down at me before a cheeky grin slides over, as she dangles the new keys in my face, "now you wanna go see what's out there?" I could feel the squeal bubbling in side me as I sat up happily, wrapping the blonde into the tightest side hug, giggling as I straddled her thighs, pinning her down to the bed.

"Is THE Adora" I giggle out putting more pressure onto her hands as she tries to squirm out of my grasp, "suggesting we break the rules?" I smile toothily down at her as I run my left hand down through her hair and down her face. Smirking at the deepening blush that started to cover her neck and face, resting my hand lightly against her chest as I lean down, nose rubbing against hers as a silent thank you, and with that I jump of off her and towards the door, giggle falling from my lips at her flustered body on the bed.

"Now come on! Little rule breaker!"

A wide grin had been plastered on my face since we had left the hordes Skiff bay, looking over at Adora as she shared the same Grin as the cold air blew through our hair, my excitement was hard to contain the further we got away from base. We were flying though the Fright zone, whizzing bast buildings and trees.

"You're officially awesome" I shout ass we make it past the dark Fright zone trees making out to a lighter clearing, looking back to the blonde with a proud smile, "I can't believe you stole a skiff! I really am rubbing off on you!" Chuckling at her as I stand at the front of the skiff howling in excitement, " .Ever" I howl up into the sky as we go faster around the small trees, giggling as I hear her mutter 'borrowed' under her breath.

Looking back I watch as she shakes her head at me, small giggle leaving her lips as she looks back up at me, I make my way closer to her, knocking shoulders.

"Don't make me regret this dork" knocking shoulders again as she steers us through a small patch off trees, I walk behind her, one hand landing on her waist the other on her hand that was steering the Skiff.

"I've always wanted to drive one of these" purring into her ear as I squeeze her waist lightly, letting my claws press gently into her hip, using this distraction to remove her hand from the steering beam, "let me have a try" purring again as I nuzzle my nose into her neck, feeling he shiver at the contact. Looking back at me over her shoulder she lets out an unsteady breath, cheeks a brighter shade.

"Okay but be careful" she goes to sit to my left as I give the Skiff more gas, she hits my ass playfully, "leave us some fuel to get back" smiling at me as she slapped me again.

"That really sounds like a problem for future Adora and Catra" chuckling as she gives me an a look, basically saying 'remember what happened last time'. I decide to whizz us faster around the trees, I noticed we were closing in on the whispering willows, feeling Adora place her hand on mine as we get closer and closer, her face now full of concern. I shake my head at her giving a comforting smile as I bump our shoulders again. "It'll be okay" lacing my fingers with hers, "I've got you" smiling over to her, sending a playful wink for good measure as we continued on.

We were messing around for a few minutes each of us trying to take control as we pushed and shoved each other, not noticing the root sticking out of the ground, the next thing I knew we were thrown from the skiff, being separated in the process.

Shaking my head as I gain full consciousness again, looking around concerned as I don't spot the Muscular blonde straight away.

"Adora" calling out as I get to my feet shakily, leaning against the skiff as I look around again, making my way around out transportation, once I made it over to the other side I spot her passed out against a tree stump, rushing over I pull her into my chest, gently brushing her hair out of her face as I look down at her, eyes stinging as my tears start to form at the sight of her.

"Adora? Adora wake up" I rock her slightly, running my hands through her hair, a tear escapes down my cheek as I feel her move in my arms, a small grown leaving her mouth as she opens her eyes slowly, searching for my multicoloured.

"What happened?" She muttered quietly in confusion, I pull her up into a sitting position, her head falling onto my chest, making my heart flutter at the new contact, shaking my head I look down at her, small smile now in place.

"We fell off the skiff" chuckling as she looks up at me, starting to remember what had happen moments before, "you really aren't the best driver you know? How do you plan to survive with out me?" Chuckling louder as she punches my jaw gently, pulling herself up higher to be at my level.

"Last time I checked you were the one to drive it last" the smirk on her face made me relax, worries leaving me at the cockiness, I chuckle loudly as I reach forward, hand cupping her cheek.

"That's really up for debate" leaning in to rub my nose against hers before shooting up to my feet, hand stretched out to help her to her feet. "Come on it's getting late let's head home" pulling Adora to her feet as I wrap an arm around her, helping her back up and towards the skiff.

"Wait where'd the sword go?" Stopping as we made our way to the skiff, I look at her confused as I scan the area for said sword, coming up empty I shrug my shoulders, helping her up onto the skiff, watching as she drops her shoulders in defeat, "it was right there"

I follow her up and sit beside her, brows scrunched with concern.

"Are you brain damaged?" Cupping both her cheeks, pulling her close as I examine her, hands running gently through her blonde hair, looking for any bumps or cuts hidden away beneath her locks. "Please don't be" chuckling as I place my hands back her cheeks, one hand falling to her shoulder, "you're already an idiot" pulling her into my side as I smile up at her, "shadow weaver would kill me if you got any stupider" loud laughter was shared between us as she playfully pushes me away, blush back on both our cheeks. Shaking my head at her I wrap my arms around her again.

"I'm not brain damaged dork" bumping her nose on mine as she rolls her eyes at me, I could feel her relaxing in my grip as the seconds rolled by, resting against eachother.

"I swear I saw a sword" huffing in annoyance as she looks back towards the Forrest, rubbing my hands along her back I rub our noses again, smiling at her relaxing once again under my touch.

"Lets get you home" I say gently as I stand, Turning the skiff back on, driving it back to the horde base.

We arrived back to the base not long after leaving the Whispering Willows, I helped Adora walk back to our room, helping her slip into her sweats and T once again before we slipped into my bed, I let her take up most of it as she snuggled into my side, not like I was complaining.

Looking down I rub my nose against hers as she sluggishly looked up at me, eyes struggling to stay open. Giggling I brush some hair out of her face as I smile down at her.

"Shhh go to sleep you dork" whispering down as she peers up at me sleepily, running my fingers through her hair as she drifts off to sleep, hand resting on my chest as her little snores erupt, vibrating up my neck as she snuggled closer in. Shaking my head at my partner I close my eyes letting myself slip into my own sleep.

A few hours had past when I felt the bed shift underneath me, reaching to my side as my purring became quieter at the lack of warmth beside me, frowning I look towards the door, watching as Adora attempted to sneak out, crinkling my nose I get out of bed, quickly changing as I follow her with out a sound.

Following her out to the main hall I reach out, grabbing her hand as I pull her back into me.

"Where are you going?" Looking at her quizzically as she looks surprised at the sudden interruption, shaking my head as I pull her closer, staring in her eyes, hoping to find the answer myself.

"I'm going back to the woods, there's something out there that I need to figure out" she breathes out quietly, pulling away from me making me crinkle my nose once again, 'what does that even mean?' I ask myself as I follow closely behind her once again, and that's when it hit me.

"You're looking for that stupid imaginary sword aren't you?" Whispering in her ear as I tug her back to me, inturupted by a soldier walking closer towards our directing, Adora covers my mouth, pushing me to the closest corner, pinning me to the wall. Bodies once again flush against eachother as we waited silently for the soldier to pass.

I could feel my blush deepening the longer we stood there, I could smell her scent, feel her warmth.

"You've been acting weird since we got back" whispering up at her, trying to keep my self on track.

Pulling her face back to look at me, her cheeks a faint pink, she too had noticed our close proximity.

Running my thumb over her cheek as concern runs through my body at her silence, "are you sure you aren't brain damaged?" Hand stroking her cheek again, coming to rest gently cupping her cheek/jaw.

Smiling softly down at me knowing I was just looking out for her she shook her head, leaning in the rest her forehead against mine, comforting me and my worries, taking in a deep breathe she looks at me again.

"I saw something out there today" gripping onto my hands as she locked eyes with me again, getting even closer laying her other hand on my chest, relaxing at the feeling of my heart beating she continues, "I – I just need to take one more look… it feels important some how" she closes her eyes as she nuzzles closer, my cheeks growing darker and warmer as she breathes in deep again, hand gripping the front of my shirt as she opens her eyes, looking in the direction of the door leading out to the skiffs.

"Lets go" nodding my head towards the door, smiling up at her as I tug her hand, she pulls me back against the wall, shaking her head at me, sad smile in place.

"No I cant let you" I look up at her confused, sensing I was about to reply she pushed a finger against my lips, smiling softly at me. "I can't let you get in trouble for this because of me… we both know if we get caught Shadow Weaver will pin it all on you and I can't let that happen" leaning in she bumps her nose against mine one last time, nuzzling as she relaxes at my touch. Wrapping her arms around my neck she flutters her lids at me, "so just this once.. stay, cover for me" she leans up, kissing my cheek gently, I could feel that familiar fire ignite inside me again, trying to shake it off as I looked at her in surprise at the rare action. "I'll be back before you know it I promise"

"Please just be safe Adora" peering up into her piercing blue eyes I lean up, gently placing a soft kiss on her cheek, noticing the heavy blush that now creeped onto her cheeks as I pulled back. Settling back into her arms I hold her tightly, "come back home to me" I whisper into her ear as I release my hold, stepping back as I watch her nod her head, a silent promise. Before I knew it she was gone.

"Please be safe you idiot" whispering to myself as I make my way back to our room, already accepting the terrible nights sleep waiting for me.
