Mikasa woke up the next day, she barely got any sleep due to the day before. She gets up and looks at Armin and Eren. They're so cute when they're sleeping. She decides she'll let them sleep more since it's only 6 AM and they live rather close to the school. Mikasa grabs her uniform from her closet and a towel and heads to the shower. she has to make sure she is extra quiet when passing her Uncle's bedroom to make sure she doesn't wake him up. Knowing Levi, he was probably up all night working on a case.
She quietly steps into the bathroom and locks the door. Mikasa undresses and looks in the mirror. Too thin and too tall. She looks disgusting. How could she ever go outside like this? How could anyone ever love her? Mikasa pokes at the ribs that are pointing out. She looks disgusting. Why would Sasha love her? Maybe she feels bad for Mikasa? Maybe she pities her? Mikasa throws the towel onto the mirror so she can stop seeing herself. She hates looking in the mirror but can't stop doing it. All she does is berate herself on her image. She deserves it though so it doesn't matter.
Mikasa enters and closes the door on the shower. She turns it on to the highest temperature so she can burn her skin. She deserves this pain. She slowly washes her short hair, making sure it's good for the day. She gets out of the shower and begins drying her hair and body, if the boys weren't here she'd get dressed in her room but unfortunately she can't. She looks in the mirror again, hating herself even more. The heat from the shower made her skin red and accentuated her self-harm scars. She never cut her arms, only her hips. The only harm she'd do on her arms was biting.
Mikasa dries her hair and gets dressed. Since her hair is up to about her chin it doesn't take very long to dry. She hates her hair though. It's all black and ugly. Just looking at it makes her cringe. She gets into her school uniform, it's a short red skirt and a white shirt with a brown cardigan over it. It has the school emblem of wings on it so it was ok to wear. The school never let the girls wear leggings, even during the winter. Sasha swore it was because the school was against females and Connie 'politely' disagreed. Mikasa smiles a moment at the memory of the two fightings by the water fountain, their regular meetup spot.
Mikasa finally came out of the bathroom and walked back into her room. She checked the time and it said 7:05. She decided that Armin and Eren had enough time to sleep and began waking them up. She crouched down so her face was by Armin's.
"Hey Armin, it's time to get up we have school today." Armin immediately shot up hearing that there was school. Mikasa smiles at the grin he gave her. He was always an early bird.
If Armin was the early bird then Eren never wanted to get up. There wasn't anything you could do to wake him up. But Mikasa was prepared to try. She crouched down, just like she did with Armin.
"Eren. Come on, wake up it's time for school." No response. "Eren. Wake up! It's time to go to school!" She says, louder this time but Eren still doesn't wake up. Mikasa decides she has a better idea. She climbs onto the bed and lays on top of Eren. She gets close to his ear and whispers; "Eren, it's time for schoooolll." Eren still doesn't get up. He seems to be sleeping soundly. This frustrates Mikasa, she's way too thin. It's gross. Of course, Eren isn't awake, why would he want to be around someone as disgusting as Mikasa? Mikasa doesn't show her thoughts and instead gets up and pulls Eren off of the bed.
"What the fuck!" Eren yells and Mikasa giggles.
"Language." They could hear Levi say from his room. Mikasa gets a bit scared at hearing her Uncle but doesn't say anything.
"Well, now that you both are up you gotta get dressed, your backup clothes are in my closet like usual. I'm going to go make our lunches and breakfast." She smiles. The two boys nod and she leaves the room. She comes downstairs and makes her way into the spotless kitchen, just how Levi likes it. She looks inside the refrigerator and finds the peanut butter, jelly and bread. She decides the boys wouldn't mind peanut butter and jelly since it's their favorite meal. If Eren could live off of peanut butter and jelly he would. She looks for something she can eat, she's not a big fan of peanut butter and jelly because she hates the texture of peanut butter.
Mikasa decides she won't eat lunch today and instead made some toast with apple butter. She packs the boy's lunches with water, banana, and of course their peanut butter sandwiches. Mikasa never lets the boys have any cookies in their lunches whenever she makes them since they eat unhealthy rather often. Mikasa grabs the last salmon onigiri from the refrigerator along with some watermelon and packs it inside of a neat little bag just for Sasha. She decides to give her some leftover mashed potatoes as well for an extra treat, the girl could eat for days and never stop.
Mikasa takes a bite out of her apple butter toast and gets the boys some waffles for their walk to school. Whenever they come over her mom mode activates and she babies them to death. Mikasa finishes the 6 waffles, 2 for Armin, Eren, and of course, Sasha. Eren and Armin come down, all ready for the day. The three of them grab their school bags, lunches, and waffles and head out the door. Mikasa leaves last just to make sure the door is locked.
The three venture off to go to school, completely unaware of what is to come. After a block, they reach Sasha's house and wait for her patiently. Sasha finally comes out and waves at the trio. Mikasa's heart races as Sasha comes towards her and pulls her into a hug. Mikasa smiles at Sasha and slightly pulls back to look into her beautiful brown eyes. Sasha pulls Mikasa into a kiss. Their lips meet in perfect harmony as they kiss. Sasha doesn't need to worry about her father finding out since She came out to her family over a year ago when the two first started dating. "Eww get a room!" Eren exclaims and Sasha laughs. "I mean bet, there are a few things I'd like to do to our little Mikasa here." She says seductively to her lover. Mikasa smiles at the statement and hands Sasha her waffles. "Oh my God! Thank you! You're a lifesaver! I'm STARVING!" Mikasa says and hugs Mikasa tightly.
"Eww! Even worse!" Eren says and they all get a move on. They begin talking about stupid things, one of which being Sasha's hamster, Sir Potato. Anytime Mikasa went to Sasha's house they would always let the hampster out and play with him. Sasha had gotten him in a rather odd way, when Mikasa was at Hange and Erwin's house Hange was going to feed Sawney and Bean an adorable hampster and she just knew she had to save it, so she did, much to Hange's dismay. Mikasa later gave the baby potato to Sasha and she instantly fell in love. They've been taking care of Sir Potato together ever since.
The four finally make it to school at their favorite meeting spot, the water fountain. One time Eren dunked Jean into the water fountain when he was looking for loose change. Eren clearly was not impressed by the stealing. Sasha quickly finds Connie, who was surprisingly wasn't trying to hide this time and tackled the poor boy. "Hey hey hey, Sasha get the fuck off there's something serious going on." He tells her sternly but Mikasa couldn't stop being goofy; "Come on Connie it can't be that bad." She laughs and gets off of him. "No, it is. Where is Mikasa? Is she home? God, I hope she stayed home." He says and Mikasa walks over to the group.
"I'm right here." She says and Jean runs up to her. "Leave, go now! It's not safe for you to be here." He warns her. Mikasa just scoffs. "I'm fine Jean, see? "
"No no no, you don't understand Mikasa, after Annie's little show yesterday the whole school is talking about you two." Connie looked at both Mikasa and Sasha.
"Some of the guys want to 'turn you straight', whatever that means." Jean butts in. Mikasa pauses and fear takes over. What the fuck does it mean to turn someone straight? Sasha looked at her lover and sits her down.
"Okay Mika, here's what's gonna need to happen, you need to go home," Sasha tells her and Mikasa snaps out of her trance-like state.
"N-no I can't go! What if they do something to you? I could never forgive myself!" Mikasa exclaimed. Sasha knew she could never stop her from staying. "Did you guys tell any adults?" Sasha turns her head to ask Connie.
"Yes, actually we told Principle Pixis and he just gave us that 'boys will be boys' line. It's so fucked up! They won't even do anything about something like this!" Connie says angrily and Jean puts a hand on Connie's shoulder. "It's gonna be okay Connie, we all mostly have classes with both Mikasa and Sasha so we can protect them if anything bad happens," Jean tells him and Connie smiles, knowing it'll work.
"Wait but what about 7th period? Mikasa's all alone at gym class." Sasha says worriedly. "Well, I'll just ask Reiner to protect her, no problem! Reiner loves Mikasa like a little sister, I'm sure she'll be fine with him." Jean smiles at his wonderful idea.
"I feel comfortable with that," Mikasa says, half lying. She doesn't want to leave Sasha's side at all today. "Okay." Sasha nods and smiles at Mikasa. "So it's settled, we're gonna make sure both me and Mika are safe. And Mika if anything happens just know we're all here and we can shut it down real quick." Mikasa nods and smiles at her lover.
Almost as if on cue, Reiner Braun walked up to the group and Jean quickly pulled him to talk to him about the plan. Reiner nodded and smiled and turned around. "Jean just told me about your situation Mikasa, don't worry, You're safe with me." Mikasa just smiles, Reiner is a good guy so she trusts him. "I just couldn't believe what they told me, they would hurt Mikasa Ackerman of all people? So what if you're lesbian, so is Annie and nobody is going after her!" Reiner says angrily.
"It's just cus everyone is head over heels for Mikasa, nobody can take rejection here," Connie says. Mikasa stays seated. Everything hits at once. Why her? Why her of all people? Does she have to whore around to keep Sasha safe? She looks at Sasha and holds her hand, telling her it's going to be alright. "Don't give up love, everything is gonna be okay," Sasha says to her and kisses her cheek. Mikasa smiles at the act of comfort. And so, the two get up, ready for whatever the school can throw at them. Although nobody could be prepared for what happens next.
