TWO
Alice
"Hey, darlin'" Jasper stands at the door smiling down at me, a pack of six beers in his hand, a Harry Potter scarf around his neck.
The southern drawl is irresistible.
"I knew you'd be a gryffindor," I smile up at the blonde, tall, muscular god before me.
"Why the fuck are we here? You said the chick you were dating," a voice snaps from behind Jasper.
I peer around Jasper and feel my eyes just about pop from their sockets.
Shit.
"It is. This is Aliā¦" Jasper begins.
"I know who she is. We're standing at my sister's house" my brother snaps at his friend, "this is my sister. You're really getting in my way today Alice."
"Wait seriously?" Jasper looks at Edward shocked.
"Yeah," I awkwardly shrugged.
I knew Jasper was on the hockey team. His relationship with my brother had been in my hopes as non existent. Jasper had just transferred here to play on the Bears team. I had accepted his date after bumping into him at a party, glad to see he wasn't like the other players. Who don't care what hole they put their dick in. Jasper was nice and kind. I'd laughed our entire date and wanted to explore everything more. I thought a casual setting with friends could be the thing.
"I can't believe you're fucking my friend," Edward growls at me.
"I can't believe you didn't recognise her house from when we pulled up," Emmett scoffs.
His idiot of a best friend jokes. Emmett was practically my brother. We'd grown up together and at a time I thought I had a crush on him. But then I saw him shit his pants on a Summer vacation when we were 11 and it ended it immediately. Now I bring it up at parties.
"She never invites me and she just moved in," Edward glares down at me.
"You're tone is exactly why," I cross my arms, "we meet for coffee once a week in a neutral place. This isn't just my place."
"You have friends," Emmett smirks, "are they hot?"
"Yes. But they're smart meaning they're out of your league, dummy," I smack Emmett's hand as he tries to sneak past me into the townhouse.
Bella hadn't gotten home yet, Rosalie was in the kitchen ordering pizza. Both of them were great roommates, my best friends really. We have come to know every detail about each other. Heck Rosalie had grown accustomed to peeing in front of us. Bella now walked around in just underwear and a shirt. We were like a little married trio. After a few weeks I'd hate to see us in a few months.
"I can name you every country in the world," Emmett crosses his arms.
"Is that meant to prove something?" Jasper jokes.
"If Einstein was in there in a skirt you'd fuck it," Edward laughs.
"Look, Jasper you're welcome to stay. Bells isn't home yet and Rosie will sit this one out in her room," I smile at him, "our fun shouldn't be ruined by my brother and his weird ass friend."
"Jasper is my friend too. And I'm not sure how I feel about you two," Edward steps forward, shoving me out of the way so he can step into the house, "besides Bells and I have unfinished business."
"Leave her alone. Besides I don't need your permission," I snap.
"No, but if you want me to play nice you'll feed me the pizza you promised," he says, "otherwise I tell Dad you're dating and not focusing on the very expensive degree he is paying for."
"Oooh. Parent card. That's harsh," Emmett snickers.
"Go sit your ass on the couch before I beat it," I growl, "don't touch a thing, Emmett."
Both the guys laugh, roughing each other up as they rush into the lounge room.
"I'm sorry. If I had known he was your brother," Jasper bites his lip, "your last name is different online."
"I changed it so people don't ask me 'what's it like being the sister of a god?' It gets annoying," I smile.
"Oh. I mean if anything your shadow is the one he has to be cast under. Hockey is nothing compared to your accomplishments. An internship at Splice magazine," he nudged me grinning.
I'd known him a week, but his pride did something to my heart.
"Thanks," I smile, "I just hoped we could pick up where we left off the other night."
"Oh you mean the stuff we did in my truck?" He leans into me smiling suggestively.
"Exactly," I place my hands on his chest, loving the feeling as his arms wrap around me, "we can't exactly have your hands up my shirt in front of Edward."
"No but he'll leave eventually. I could come back?" He smiles.
"I like the way you think," I laugh leaning up on my tippy toes to kiss his cheek.
"What's that you said about cowboys?" He smirks against my cheek.
"I've always wanted to ride one," I flush from the flirting, the sexual tension is racing only higher with each second I interact with this man.
"I'm certain that can be arranged," he tilts my chin up slightly so he can lean down to kiss me.
I'd been obsessing over his lips since the last time. They were perfect. They fit against mine perfectly. Snug. Sensational. Out of the two of us he holds the most restraint. He pulls back before I can drag him to my room.
Normally I wouldn't throw myself all in this fast. Our date ended with some touching, nothing more. Since we'd sexted and I'd imagined him on top of me while I used Karen, my vibrator.
Who knows if this is just lust talking. Either way it was worth the risk. He was hot and out of all the girls in this school it was me he set eyes on first. I'd never really entertained the idea of hockey players. I was far from a puck bunny. I'd been around them all my life. Following Edward to hockey practice and games since I was a toddler, cheering from my mother and father's side.
But Jasper was different. My gut has never been wrong before.
"You two are taking too long," Edward calls out from the other room.
"Will he be okay?" Jasper says, concerned, finally brushing his features.
He was new here. He needed friends more than me I suppose. He didn't want his teammates hating him.
"He'll be fine," I shrug, "he's playing protective brother but he forgets he's the one who made me cry as a kid from all the arguing we did."
Jasper snorts back a laugh, kicking off his sneakers at the door before joining me inside.
"I just don't want to ruffle feathers," he sighs.
"We won't," I shrug, "it's been one date, Jasper. He won't tell my dad because he knows the dirt I have on him is thicker."
Thanks to Bella I now know his grades are slipping. A fact our father would be very unimpressed by.
"Trust me," I smile up at him, "we're just having friendly fun anyway."
"Fun," he nods awkwardly, looking me over, seemingly unconvinced, "right."
"Come on," I take his hand tugging him toward the kitchen, away from the boys, "let's put your beer in the fridge and you can help me get the snacks."
Rosalie sits at the kitchen counter texting someone, snacking on the packet of chips she was meant to pour into a bowl.
"Did you order pizza?" I ask her.
She glances up at Jasper and I nodding.
"Yep," she says, "Bells is going to be a little late but. The bar is having a karaoke night or some shit."
"I told her she should have gotten a job at the cafe," I roll my eyes.
It was only her first week at the bar most of our jocks frequented. She loved working behind the bar more than pouring fussy drinkers their lattes.
"Well she said they're tipping big," Rose smiles at Jasper, "I'm Rosalie. I don't think we've been introduced."
"Oh this is Jasper," I smile at him, "he's new to the school. And he's on your dad's team."
"Dad?" Jasper raises his eyebrows.
"Yeah. Coach Hale is Rosalie's father," Alice smiles.
"Jasper Whitlock right? Gosh. My father has been eyeing you since last year. I can't believe you agreed to transfer for him," Rosalie smiles.
"Well I actually just needed the change. Living in the south the teams aren't as challenging and the history program here seemed more interesting," Jasper smiles easily, "Edward being captain offered me a room at their house. He's been very gracious"
"Yeah they want to win. They'll do what it takes. But you're incredible on the ice. Dad showed me clips! Are you looking at pros after?" Rosalie asks.
"Doubt it. I've been scouted but I think it's not for me," he shrugs, "I haven't found what I want to do next but I don't think hockey is it."
"It'll come to you," I smile rubbing his arm.
"I agree," he nods looking down at me.
His eyes offer up secrets, thoughts deeper than his words, that I can't decipher yet.
"I heard you talking hockey," Emmett walks in, "Ahh Miss Hale. I thought I heard your voice."
"God. Who let that in?" She rolls her eyes.
"Your beautiful roommate," he opens the fridge helping himself to a chocolate bar, snapping off a large chunk.
"Alice I thought we said no stray dogs. And that chocolate is mine. Put it back," Rosalie commands.
"Didn't your daddy teach you to share?" Emmett bites off a square.
"Didn't my daddy teach you not to mess with his baby girl?" Rosalie growls scooting off her chair to prowl for him.
He actually braces as she snatches the chocolate from his grip.
"I said the chocolate is mine," she says firmly, putting it back on the shelf in the fridge.
"Well," Jasper awkwardly claps his hands, "I'm ready for Hogwarts."
"Me too," Emmett keeps his eyes on Rosalie, "although we have a dementor already in the room."
"Fuck off," Rosalie growls stalking from the kitchen towards her room.
"Please play nice," I sigh at Emmett.
"I may skate on ice but she is the queen of it," he heads back to the lounge room after taking the chocolate from the fridge once again.
"I hope you still want to keep seeing me after tonight," I say.
Jasper laughs, shoulders shaking uncontrollably. The fact he wasn't running for the door, shocked from this freak show, made me want to get to know him even more.
Thanks so much for reading!
