Gorgonzola watched as Mung, Shnitzel and Chowder were cooking together. They had a few disagreements and Chowder made a few mistakes, which annoyed his adult peers. But in the end, they were successful and had a good time doing it.
"We finished the Doogleberry Pie!" Mung said.
"Yay!" Chowder called out.
"Radda." Shnitzel rolled his bored eyes, but deep down he was satisfied too, especially since it wasn't as big of a mess as usual. Gorgonzola stared at the three of them, Chowder looked over and saw Gorgonzola looked as angry as usual, but his face crumpled a little, looking envious, and even a bit hurt?
"Hey, want to join us?" Chowder asked.
"You're already done." Gorgonzola grumbled. Suddenly the little bell jingled and Truffles saw a short dumpy man with an orange candle on his head.
"Oh, hey there." Stilton said flirtily. Gosh darn it, you're not here for that. "Um… You're the wife of that blue chef aren't you?"
"Unfortunately yes." Truffles half joked. "Why?"
"My apprentice has been spending an awful lot of time with his apprentice. I wondered if he shirked his job just to hang out with him." Stilton said a bit peeved.
"Yeah. They're together." Truffles said.
"Thanks, darlin." Stilton said and winked. Truffles felt a little disgusted at that, though she felt flattered most of the time. She didn't know if it was because of his attitude or his bad breath. Probably both, mostly the latter.
"Gorgonzola, you better have a reason for shirking your duties. Just wait until we get home." Stilton looked mad. Gorgonzola hid behind Chowder.
"Go away…" Gorgonzola said nervously.
"Why would you say that to your master?" Stilton said with a warning.
"Because… You do nothing but push me around and leave me outside where I could die from my flame going out!" Gorgonzola said spitefully. "I understand what I do is… Important (but not really) but what was I supposed to do?! I was in the RAIN! Water was falling from the sky and the wind took my umbrella away! My flame almost went out if… If it wasn't for Chowder! I could have died and it would have been your fault!"
"Gorgy…" Stilton said. He hadn't called him that since he was 6. "I… I didn't realize you felt that way… I'm… I'm…. So...rry."
"It's too late for that! I'm going to go find my own place! I don't need you anymore!" Gorgonzola huffed and looked away.
"Come on, we can talk about this. You know I need you, kid." Stilton pleaded.
"I'm sorry, my mind is made up, old man." Gorgonzola said, still looking away.
"Fine! I can find another apprentice!" Stilton walked away, but as soon as he left he started crying. Gorgonzola looked down at the ground.
"Are you okay?" Chowder asked.
"I'm fine…" Gorgonzola lied. "I better go now, I think the storm stopped."
"But where will you stay?" Chowder asked.
"I think I can just stay at an orphanage or something. They would give me better food than that dump I lived in." Gorgonzola said.
"You lived in a dump?" Chowder asked.
"Might as well be. Candle holders don't make a lot of money. We mostly bought soda and cheap junk food." Gorgonzola said.
"But you still got food right?" Chowder asked.
"You wouldn't understand, just leave me alone." Gorgonzola scuttled out the back door. Chowder frowned at his friend.
