Chapter 2

Everything felt like a blur to Kano. Everything aches. His back was on fire. He tried to wince but found he couldn't move his face. He opened a few of his eyelids only to meet with a bright blinding light. He could hear that someone was saying something, but he couldn't make out the words. Kano felt someone touch his forehead before blacking out again.
The next time he woke up was a bit more pleasant, the light wasn't so blinding this time. Kano could see he was in a white room. A fan spinning on the ceiling. The smelt of strawberries came through the open window. He was laying on a bed. His throat felt like a desert with cracks. Kano turned his head to see the bedside table with a drink on it. He tried to reach for it but a hand came into his vision and grabbed the drink.
It was the girl. The blonde girl that found Kano with that bearded man. She had curly blonde hair and calculating grey eyes. She wore an orange shirt with the words "Camp Half-Blood" a big black pegasus and the words "Long island sound" on the bottom engraved on it. Kano must be in some sort of camp. He internally sighed, here come the questions.
The girl handed him the glass of what seemed to be apple juice. Kano cautiously grabbed the glass, almost dropping it before bringing the straw to his mouth. It tasted of apple juice, it was delicious. Kano drained the glass in seconds. After he finished the girl grabbed the glass, putting it out of his reach.
"Come with me to the big house. Things will be explained there." She said. Mentioning with her hand for me to come with her. I stood up shakily from the bed. The girl, however, was patient and let me take my time.
She let him through the field of kids doing activities. Playing volleyball at the volleyball court. Kids have seen running around. With weapons. Kano blinked, taken aback. However, before he could fully process it the girl led him along to the big blue house. There was the bearded man in a wheelchair and the black-haired man wearing a Leo print shirt, looking like an alcoholic. They were playing some sort of game. The girl mentioned for him to come with her to the two men. She went directly to the guy in the wheelchair and whispered something. The man immediately turned to look at him.
"Chiron, this is…" She trailed off, not knowing my name.
"Kano, Kano Williams." He said. Kano contemplated lying to them about his name. But they did save him from the verge of death and Kano felt like they would be able to tell that he was lying anyway.
"Kano Williams, Kano, this is Chiron and Mr. D. Our resident camp director." Continued the grey-eyed girl. Mr. D just grunted in response. Chiron smiled at the blonde and said "Thank you, Annabeth. You may go now."
Annabeth nodded before leaving. Chiron then turned to Kano, his kind face smiling softly at him. He gestured for Kano to take a seat somewhere around the table.
"You must be confused," Chiron said after taking a place at the table. Kano looked around, this was not what he was expecting. He thought they were gonna interrogate him about why he passed out on the hill with a bleeding bite mark the size of a basketball on his shoulder.
"Yes, a bit," Kano answered after a while. The man next to the guy in the wheelchair was shuffling cards for some sort of game.
"Don't worry, we will have answers to all of your questions. But first, let me ask something" Kano sigh, here comes the interrogation. "How did the monster that attacked look like?" Kano blinked, that was unexpected. How did they know it was a monster and not an animal bite mark?
"What do you mean?" Kano asked cautiously, perhaps they weren't who they seem to be. Did they send the monsters to attack him? No, otherwise they would know what the monster looked like. "Mr. Williams, we know you have attacked no worries. We just want to know what kind of monster attacked you." Chiron said, his face gentle. Kano didn't really want to trust them, but something tells him that they're relatively good people. Except perhaps the guy with the Hawaiian t-shirt, Mr. D. Something is not normal about him.
"I got attacked by a huge dog monster, bigger than anything I've ever seen. It could run really quickly, every time the monster took a step it felt like the ground shook as well." Kano described the monster. It was nothing like he had ever seen, all the others had a humanoid shape and they usually aren't so obvious.
"I see, tell me, Mr. Williams, what do you know about Greek mythology?" Chiron said. Kano didn't really understand what greek mythology had anything to do with the monsters but he answered anyway. "Umm, Greek mythology, all the gods and stories about gods from the ancient Greek times?"
Mr. Chiron nodded "Yes…", he trailed off as if expecting Kano to get some sort of invisible clue. Kano just stared blankly at Chiron, not getting the hint. Mr. D seemed to get increasingly frustrated and summoned a glass of wine before saying "Oh for god's sake! The gods exist, monsters are real. One of you mommy or daddy is one of them. You are attacked by monsters because you are a half-blood. There, you see Chiron, no need to walk in circles."
Kano could only stare. The gods… exists? Are the greek myths true? The wine in Mr. D's hand seemed to prove it, so did the giant dog monster that attacked him a while ago. "Mr. D, your restrictions," Chiron said. Mr. D sigh before turning the glass of wine into a can of diet coke. Muttering something about a god of wine and not being able to drink.
"Anyway, Mr. Williams, yes the gods are alive and real, this is a camp for demigods like you. Is your non-godly parent living with you?" Chiron asked. Kano shook his head, he was adopted by an old man named Fuji. When Fuji was killed he ended up in an orphanage. "No, I was found as a baby on the ground beside the road," Kano said, he didn't feel sad or ashamed about it, Fuji said to never feel ashamed about that. But the look on Chiron's face said otherwise. It was a look of pity, Kano hated that look. Something must've shown on his face because that look vanished immediately.
"Well, Mr. Williams-" "Call me Kano." Kano interrupted. Having Chiron call him Mr. Williams all the time would get annoying very quickly. "Very well, Kano, we should get you familiar with the camp. I have a feeling you'll be staying here for a bit."
