How could his first assignment as a detective have gone so wrong? Only hours earlier he'd been joking with Aizawa about how concerned the badger was. Now there Izuku was, living out his worst nightmare before an audience of hundreds. He'd be beaten, torn apart and scraped off the floor for entertainment. His detective career meant no more than a stain on cement.

No, he wasn't going down so easily. Izuku balled his hands into tight fists. He wouldn't give them the one-sided bloodbath they enjoyed.

All Izuku heard was the rush of blood through his veins. When the cage door flew open, Izuku didn't hesitate. He strutted right in to face his opponent head on. Stage lights blinded him from seeing the predator across the ring. What would a stone-cold killer look like? He silently wondered if the spectators paid to take a turn in the arena. His mind pictured various famous serial killers with scary masks or exaggerated features, but he never could've prepared for what he saw when the lights shifted. Across the ring, the face of a familiar wolf gaped back at him.

Bakugo Katsuki.

"Kacchan?" Deku mouthed. He hadn't seen the pure alpha since high school. The temperamental wolf had been whisked away to some alpha only training program before their senior year.

Bakugo's face quickly changed from shock to anger as he slid into a battle stance akin to the one he'd used years prior. It was nice to see his old rival hadn't changed his stubborn ways--but the nostalgic feeling didn't last long. What was Bakugo doing there in an alpha predator fighting ring murdering prey hybrids? Izuku felt woozy at the thought. Sure, Bakugo had always been a hothead--and maybe he threatened to kill people strangely often--but his #1 goal had always been to become the next chief of police. Would he really hurt innocent prey animals?

The answer became painfully obvious when the spiky blond charged him. Izuku remembered that Bakugo always started a fight with the same move. When he wound up Izuku knew what was coming and easily evaded the wolf's right hook. Then the rabbit quickly hopped to the other end of the arena--out of reach from his attacker's claws.

Bakugo glared at him as the crowd gave an excited roar. The wolf's ears drew tight against his head and his spiked tail flicked in agitation. The pair leered at each other from across the ring--waiting for the other to make a move. The standoff gave Izuku time to analyze his opponent. Bakugo wore nothing but black sweatpants, combat boots, and black tape wrapped around his fists. Sweat slicked the alpha's skin and shallow cuts littered his bare torso. Hoof shaped bruises painted the skin on his lower chest a dark purple. Izuku wouldn't be surprised if the alpha had a cracked rib. Blood dripped from his mouth and caked his body, but Izuku knew most of it wasn't his own. The wolf had obviously fought multiple prey before him.

Bakugo knew what Deku was doing. He'd be strategizing everything in his fluffy little head and finding his biggest weaknesses. Too bad he could crush the stupid hybrid a hundred times over with an arm tied behind his back. The wolf silently cursed the horse hybrid for giving him such visible injuries. The omega didn't need any reason to think he was weak. Bakugo was admittedly impressed by how tactfully Deku had dodged his first attack. By now the dumb rabbit must've made his dreams and joined the police force. He wasn't a scrawny twig anymore so it was obviously paying off. Good for him. But Bakugo couldn't give the carrot-for-brains any more time to think.

Izuku snapped out of his thoughts just as the alpha sprung into action again. The rabbit didn't have the claws or the strength the wolf possessed, but his adapted thigh muscles allowed for quick mobility. The wolf prepared to feint another right hook but Izuku was prepared. He pretended to fall for Bakugo's deception by turning his body, but when Bakugo twisted around to slash with his left hand the rabbit rolled under him, planted both feet firmly on the alpha's chest and kicked. Hard.

Bakugo flew through the air and connected with the other end of the stadium. A heartbeat went by, then the wolf was clamoring back to his feet. His bloodied face--now with a freshly busted nose--contorted with anger and confusion. A low snarl ripped from his throat.

Pheromones carrying the scent of smoke and frustration exploded across the arena. Izuku brought his hand up to his nose to stop the assault, but the effects were already taking hold. Of course his opponent had to be a pure alpha.

The drive to submit was nearly unbearable. Izuku's legs threatened to give out. Numbing waves lapped at his thoughts, but he'd learned from his past. He couldn't let the fog cloud his mind.

His instincts weren't having it. It seemed every moment he resisted, the omega in him tore deeper into his flesh. Something was different than when the masked alpha had controlled him. Instead of his body growing cold and lifeless, Izuku felt a warmth spread from his chest and travel down his body. It was a feeling he'd only experienced once before--back in high school. It was dangerous.

Katsuki was furious that he'd let his pheromones slip. He only used that trick when he felt lazy or had particularly stubborn prey. Not to say Deku wasn't extremely stubborn prey, but the wolf had originally intended to give the nerd a dignified and merciful death. Now he could see the effects of his pheromones in the blush on the omega's face and the shaking of his knees. How was he going to put up a fight now? Chiseki didn't usually bring in omega prey for him to slaughter. They were much too valuable in their other business. The bird mask must've fallen for the same lie the green rabbit hid behind every day--that Deku was a beta. Bakugo had found out the truth when the nerd had first gotten a whiff of his alpha pheromones. He'd instantly triggered a heat in the stupid rabbit hybrid. At the time Deku seemed so scared of people finding out about his hidden omega identity that he stopped coming to school. In the end, Bakugo decided to just switch to an all alpha school to avoid the trouble. He scrutinized his surroundings with spiteful eyes. That decision turned out great for him.

Izuku registered the muscles in Bakugo's arm bunching up to attack, but his own reaction was in slow motion. The wolf's fist connected with his cheek before he'd even flinched. The force of the blow sent him staggering into the fence behind him. The sharp pain snapped him out of his daze. He leapt out of the way just as the wolf's foot flashed to where his stomach had been. The alpha didn't give him any time to think. He followed the rabbit around the ring and drove punch after punch. Izuku did his best to dodge, but the lingering effects of the pheromones slowed his brain. Izuku stumbled and Bakugo raked a hand across his abdomen. The crowd grew deafening at the first spray of blood. Izuku cried out in pain but his pursuer gave him no time to check his wound. Bakugo's boot clipped the omega's knee. Another slash from his claws had the rabbit's shoulder streaked with burning lines of red. If this kept up Izuku knew he'd lose the ability to fight back within a matter of seconds. He had to put distance between them.

When Bakugo drew back for another swing Izuku lunged forward. The sudden attack caught the wolf off guard, leaving an opening for the rabbit to plunge an elbow directly into the tender bruise on the alpha's side. He howled in pain and clutched his abdomen. Izuku took the opportunity to flee--but his opponent wasn't distracted for as long as he'd hoped. At the last moment claws sunk into the rabbit's calf and dragged him back with an agonizing tear. The omega stumbled and slammed face first into the cement. Bakugo clambered onto the rabbit's back and pinned him with one hand tangled in the omega's green fur and a leg on either side of his body. He ground Izuku's face into the floor.

"You lose." The wolf sneered. Izuku could feel the agitated swish of the alpha's tail across his legs. The rabbit struggled to throw the alpha off but Bakugo's claws dug deeper into his skin--a warning. The pressure of the larger hybrid made it increasingly harder to breathe. Izuku racked his mind for a new plan, but he couldn't think of a situation where Bakugo didn't win. The omega needed to find a way to distract him--to buy himself as much time as he could.

"Why are you doing this?" Izuku croaked. There was no reaction from the alpha. "Are you going to murder me like you did the rest of the prey animals?"

Bakugo tensed.

"Shut up the hell up you damn glorified rat." He snarled. The woodsy smell of pheromones filtered through the air. Izuku's questions were garnering a reaction. Hope flared in the rabbit's chest.

"What happened to becoming Chief?" Izuku pushed. The world spun as he was violently flipped around to face Bakugo. Clawed hands wrapped around his neck.

"I can't stand your annoying voice." The alpha growled. He pressed down on the omega's throat. The smell of fire and fear grew stronger until it flooded Izuku's mind. This time he couldn't fight back against the assault. Warmth tingled up through his body and melted the pressure of Bakugo's hands away. Any worries seemed like distant memories. He absent-mindedly roved over the alpha's features--from his crimson eyes glowing in determination down to the sharp contours of his neck. The stage lights formed a dazzling halo around the alpha's head and pointy ears. Shadow began to creep up the edges of Izuku's vision but he paid no heed to it.

Then everything turned blazing hot.

Bakugo leapt off of him as if he'd been electrocuted. Cold air shot into Izuku's lungs as the world snapped into place around him. The sound of the announcer rattled his skull but he couldn't focus on the words. He spun around to find the wolf backed up to the other side of the cage. For the first time in the match the alpha was holding a defensive position. His eyes were wide and he held his nose pinched with one hand while the other bent protectively out in front of him. Izuku was confused, then he noticed the sweet smell in the air. His hand shot up to the side of his neck where his scent gland normally sat undetectable. The area was now slightly swollen and warm to the touch. A weird feeling swooped deep in his stomach.

His heat was coming.

Izuku wasn't sure why Bakugo was so worried, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to fight as well while guarding his nose. This was his chance. The rabbit tried to roll onto his feet but blistering pain shot up his leg. He looked down to see that Bakugo's claws had cut deep--leaving wounds that would undoubtedly need stitches. Izuku eyed Bakugo to make sure he wouldn't rush him and pulled his tattered shirt off to wrap it tightly around the injury. Blood instantly soaked through, but he only needed the skin to stay together when he did what he was planning to do next.

He couldn't kill Bakugo. He knew he wouldn't be able to even if he had the same strength and claws as the wolf hybrid. His old classmate might be a killer now, but he had to have a reason...right? Izuku couldn't use lethal force without knowing the full story.

So his plan was simple: immobilize the alpha until the announcer was forced to call the winner.

He wasn't sure what would happen afterwards, but in the best case scenario they both lived to see another day. Izuku ground his teeth against the pain and lurched to his feet. His green irises met the intensity of the wolf's ruby gaze. Another cramp gripped Izuku's stomach but he had to fight through his heat's symptoms. It was either win now or die trying.

He charged.

Bakugo moved to avoid the attack but Izuku was fueled by fresh adrenaline. The collision of their bodies sent both of the hybrids careening into the chain link fence. They grappled with each other--rolling, punching, biting and spitting until Izuku managed to wrangle Bakugo's arms into a lock. Exhaustion and blood loss shook Izuku's limbs but he held firm. In this position he was straddling Bakugo's back and twisting the blonde's arms behind him. There was no way the wolf could move.

He waited, but the announcer didn't call a winner.

A stomach cramp so severe gripped him that he loosened his hold--only for a second. But that's all the wolf needed.

In an instant Bakugo had the rabbit pressed under him. Izuku clawed at the wolf's face but Bakugo effortlessly swatted the omega's hands and pinned them over his head. Izuku's legs kicked weakly in the air but it was impossible to hit the body positioned between them. The alpha leaned down until his canines brushed his prey's throat.

This was it. The brutal end to his short life.

Hot breath swept across Izuku's scent gland. The strange sensation sent a fuzzy feeling down his spine. Now that Bakugo's neck was at nose-level, all the rabbit could smell was the hickory of the wolf's pheromones. The next wave of stomach cramps had the rabbit arching up into the body above him. The warmth and smell of the alpha's body was lessening the pain--and the omega desperately needed to quench the fire.

Bakugo bowed his head and buried his face into the omega's neck. A hot tongue lapped across the rabbit's scent gland. The wolf's hand formed a fist in his green fur and pulled his head back for better access. Izuku squirmed under the touch--his teeth bared fearlessly in a final show of defiance. The alpha's strength was all around the omega, holding him, pinning him helplessly. The wolf's hips dipped to meet the needy omega's and Izuku couldn't stop the whimper from leaving his lips. Bakugo's mouth trailed upwards to nip along his jawline. He released Izuku's wrists in favor of securing his hand around the rabbit's waist. There was a growing ferocity to his touches. A carnal hunger neither of them could escape from. Izuku tightened the space between them by fixing his hands in the alpha's hair. Bare skin met skin and a low rumble resonated from the wolf's chest. The alpha leaned forward and claimed the omega's lips in an intense kiss. It was desperate, feral, and intoxicating. Bakugo bit Izuku's lip--demanding access--and the omega obediently opened.

Suddenly, the warmth of the alpha was torn away. Shouts and cheers from the crowd sharpened until Izuku's mind fluttered back to the present.

A blinding flash sparked from his shock collar and the world splintered to black.

This chapter was a little bit shorter than usual, but it's the "big scene" that this fic got it's name for so I wanted to make it special. It was my first time writing a fight sequence so I might go back and change some things later. I hope you enjoyed! Reviews make my day 3
