The years went by quickly for Adelpha and her family. She was far ahead of any of her classmates no matter the school she went to. And because her parents could use the fact that she was a minor that hasn't attended Hogwarts yet they were able to have her practice magic. It also helped that she was a genius with a photographic memory. She had inherited her mothers curls and sharp eyes but she had her fathers mind. Though she was not just brains and beauty she was also well mannered, and had a weakness for watching quidditch. She awaited her birthday last year for the letter that would grant her access to some of the greatest minds in her time. To learn what she couldn't at home. Because, even though her parents wanted her to be the best they were also very over protective. All of her activities were heavily monitored to ensure no fowl play. They were always so overprotected due to the fact that she was heir to the black family. The only True black left.
Other than her third cousin Draco Malfoy and the Weasleys. Though neither family held the noble name of black unlike her. Her father, though he had planned for her to marry Draco in her fifth year. Though that wouldn't be for quite a good while.
Adelpha was strolling through Diagon Alley with her parents Micheal and Michelle busy trying to get her ready for her trip to hogwarts. Even though they had sent the elves to get her supplies she still had to be fitted for her robe and obtain her wand. They went to Olivanders first as they had an appointment at Madams Milkins in a few hours to be fitted for her robes.
They entered and left just as quick. Her want wasn't anything to brag about of course. Though
Her mother did advise her not to talk about it much as it could draw unwanted attention and not in a good way. She headed her mothers warning and they went to get a quick lunch before continuing. After their lunch they made their way to Madam Wilkins as a boy with thick circular glasses left along with her cousin Malfoy. Malfoy was sneering at the boy so Adelpha's first impression of the boy wasn't too good. Her fathers face scrunched up when he saw the boy only furthering Adelpha's dislike of the boy. Her fitting went well as she was not stabbed and was quiet and well mannered. Her mother stood by her dutifully and Her father remained outside talking to Lucian Malfoy, Draco's prude father.
Madam Milkin promised to have her robes delivered by July 31 at the latest. With a final farewell to the stout woman Adelpha and her mother quickly left the shop to join her father at a small cafe near them where he surprised his wife with a new hat and a owl for Adelpha. Her owl was a regular Barn owl again, nothing to stand out. Adelpha inquired why she could not use the family owl and her father told her that her owl was for emergencies. For when she needs to contact them as soon as possible. Adelpha pondered why if she was to be at school would she send an owl who would take as long as muggle mail when she could use the floo to contact her parents. Or even an enchanted pen or mirror. Their were more quicker ways than the way her father wanted her to use them.
It was now July 31 and Adelpha patiently waited for all of her belongings to be packed in her trunk by the elves while she and her mother practiced her needle point. She was making a needle point of mugwort for one of her professors, as a thank you gift for teaching her. As she was tying off her last stitch, Adelpha was informed her stuff was packed. She did a scan of her room and made sure everything was away or packed. Then she went to the garden to see what plants she wanted to take with her. She told her personal elf to have her personal plants sniped and sent to hogwarts the minute she finds out her house. As well as to replant new ones for when she was home. Then she went inside to the parlor to have tea with her father.
"Adelpha, what do you plan to do once you graduate." Her father stated rather than asked.
"I plan to be a Herbalist as well as a heeler until I can produce the heir for the Malfoy-Black family." She started cooly knowing the practice of their daily routine.
"Splendid" Her father was only wanting what was best for her and her future family.
They finished their tea and continued their last day of proper routine.
The next day Adelpha rode the train to Hogwarts she sat in a car with a girl with bushy hair and a boy with a toad, which he quickly lost. The girl with Bushy hair went to retrieve the toad as Adelpha comforted the boy. He said his name was Nevil as they talked. When they arrived Adelpha and the boy and girl rode a boat across the great lake towards the glowing castle which would be her home for nearly a year. They were greeted by the head of the gryffindor house McGonagall she told them to wait a moment as she rushed back inside only to appear after her cousin Draco caused quite a scene as per usual. Though her mind was changed on the boy with thick glasses when he stood up to her cousin's bullying. Still Adelpha remained quiet; it was her cousin's battle not hers. They were taken to the great hall where alphabetically they were called to sit on a stool and receive their house name. Starting with Hannah Abbott it was no surprise to Adelpha that her name came soon after.
"Black, Adelpha" Was called by MCGonagall who stood stone faced holding the hat. Unlike when Abbott and the others the room whispered as her notorious house of Black was revealed
Adelpha sat on the stool and the hat barely touched her head before yelling Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw erupted into loud cheers as she was shoved over to them all the way to the right of the great hall. Opposite to her fathers house. Though she was safely in her mothers alma mater. The night continued with the bushy girl, Nevil, and the boy who was later identified as Harry Potter were sorted into Gryffindor, while her cousin was as expected sorted into Slytherin. At the end of dinner they were taken up to the Ravenclaw tower and Adelpha was shown to her room. She had to share the room with 6 other girls who were sorted into Ravenclaw. This was hard for her as she was not used to sharing though she did quickly adapt. She found her trunks next to the bed nearest to the bathroom. The only window a small one by her night stand. The amount of plants she had was to much for the small room so she ordered on of the elves to quickly return them to the house and care for them. Then she took out her supplies and put them in her bag for school the next day. After she dressed and went to bed. That year went too fast with Gryffindor winning the house cup and Harry Potter Exposing the DADA teacher as the dark lord in disguise.
