Location: Ancient Hyrule. Year 1363.

He opened his eyes, slowly. Everything around him was blurry, and his head was spinning. When he recovered consciousness, he found himself inside a big chamber, weakly enlightened by blue light. There was a large emblem with the form of an hexagon on the floor and the Master Sword pedestal was lying on the center, just in front of him.

He noticed another six emblems, each one located in one of the hexagon's edges. Before he could perform any other investigations about the environment, he observed the imponent weapon that was lying on his hands. Actually, he felt his hands somewhat bigger. It was strange. Then, he passed his sight on the perfectly crafted blade of the sword. He got a reflection of himself, and he almost threw the sword because of the surprise: he was not a kid anymore. His hair had grown, his muscles had strenghtened and his face was the one of a young man.

Link: For Din's sake! Is this really me?

?: Greetings, young man. You have finally awakened. It's been a long time.

Link turned his head. An old man had entered the chamber, walking calmly. His outfit revealed he was some kind of monk.

Rauru: My name is Rauru. I'm one of the Ancient sages of Hyrule.

Link: Hello, Rauru. My name is…

Rauru: Link. Yes, I know your name. You are not fully aware of it yet, but you have been chosen by the Goddesses of Hyrule to embark on a very important mission.

Link: Rauru, what happened? Why I'm not a kid anymore? Where are we?

Rauru: We're in the Sanctuary of the Sages. This is a portal to the Sacred Realm, the place where the Goddeses of Hyrule placed the Great Triforce. There is a connection between here and the Master Sword pedestal. As a sage, I know for a fact that only the chosen by the Goddesses can wield the Master Sword. However, you were still very young seven years ago to assume your destiny.

Link: Seven years?! Are you saying that I have been here for seven years?!

Rauru: Indeed. Our land is at risk, Link. Princess Zelda predicted the fall of Hyrule and tried to prevent it. She is the leader of the sages, and she knew you were the chosen one, too. So she opened the Door of Time and asked you to take the Master Sword, knowing that it would seal your body here, in order to keep you safe long enough for you to take on your quest.

Link: The last thing I remember before waking up here is her asking me to save Hyrule. She was sad and desperate. Along with Impa, her personal guard, we were facing an evil man, called Ganondorf. I couldn't do anything to stop him. I don't know what happened to the princess. How an useless guy like me could possibly be the chosen by the Goddesses?

Rauru: Don't be so hard on yourself. You were still very capable of gathering the three spiritual stones when you were just a kid. That was the first proof the Goddesses were not mistaken by selecting you. As for the Princess and Impa, don't worry. I know they are alive, I sense their energy. Impa is not only the leader of the Sheikah clan and personal guard of Princess Zelda. She is also one of us, the Sage of Shadows.

Link: What happened with that Gerudo man, Ganondorf? Did… did he really take the Kingdom down?

Rauru: I'm afraid he did. He is not just a man. His real name is just Ganon, and he is the incarnation of evil. He is a cruel beast that possess one portion of the Triforce, the Triforce of Power.

Link: But, I thought only the Sages and the chosen hero could enter this place…?

Rauru: You may already know that male Gerudo babies are not very common. It is said that a man is born in the Gerudo race once in one hundred years…

Link: Yes, the Princess once told me about that…

Rauru: Several years ago, a couple of twin witches, servers of Ganon, predicted the birth of another male baby, and used her dark magic to transfer Ganon into the baby's body. Then, they forced an entrance, casting a spell to open a portal that would lead them and the baby into here. As the guardian of this Sanctuary and the entrance to the Sacred Realm, I faced the witches. They were very powerful, and their plan was to increase the possessed baby's energy even more using the Triforce. I fought as hard as I could, but they were able to retrieve the Triforce of Power and took it away with them.

Link: Let me guess the rest. They took care of the baby until he was ready to receive the Triforce of Power. Now he has taken Hyrule and plans to enter here once more to obtain the two missing portions.

Rauru: Well, the Triforce is not resting here anymore. Once a portion is taken by someone it's not supposed to, the other parts instantly separate, and search for good-hearted people who can keep them safe. The Triforce of Wisdom has chosen Princess Zelda…

Link: And the third one?

Rauru: Look at your hand.

Link noticed the symbol of the last portion, the Triforce of Power, inscribed on the back of his left hand.

Link: Me?

Rauru: That's right. Now that you know these facts, Link. I must ask you, in the name of the Goddesses of Hyrule, to awaken the other sages and save our Kingdom. The Hyrule Castle is now home of the Evil King, and is protected by an impenetrable energy barrier. Princess Zelda is somewhere out there, focusing her energy to face Ganondorf, but the other sages and me can concentrate our power to break the barrier and allow you to enter the Castle.

Link: Who are the other sages? Where should I start?

Rauru: You have already met them. The sages represent the races of Hyrule. Maybe you should start visiting the race that took you in when you were a child, the Kokiri. I can give you ride if you like.

And after saying that, Rauru transformed into a big owl.

Link: Wow! You transformed into an owl! Nice!

Rauru: So, Link, Hero of Time, the one chosen by the Goddesses, do you accept this mission?

Link: I do. Let´s go!

Rauru grabbed Link's arms with his feet. A powerful shine of light illuminated the center of the Sanctuary. The wise owl opened his wings, he and the Hero of Time ascended to begin their quest.
