The next day Peter was hard at work at Horizon Labs; they were working on projects for a joint partnership between them and STAR Labs. After work Peter was nervous about his plans and was hoping that he wouldn't be distracted by having to go and be Spider-Man before he got there. After being off the clock he made his way to the Themysciran Embassy, of course the outside was filled with a crowd being put under control by security. Reporters and fans watching as out from her limousine she came out in full Wonder Woman regalia, waving with a massive smile on her face as she signed autographs for the gathered people and reporters asked for words.
Peter did his best to not too harshly force his way to the front of the crowd and as she was passing Diana caught eye on him, "Is that you coming to see me Peter?" Diana asked him as she gently pulled him out of the crowd and motioned him to follow her through the gate. "Mr Parker has an invitation to come and see me." Diana told the security with the crowd hearing them and Peter gulped; wondering if this was going to get onto social media.
Peter nervously followed Diana through the gate and to the front door, glancing at the back of Diana made him even more nervous. The inside of the embassy seemed like a Greek museum and Diana took him to a meeting room and motioned for him to have a seat at a table so they would be facing eachother. Peter took it as Diana said "Had a meeting with the League and then a meeting with both the Mayor and the DA which I have just got back from. The meeting was about you, more specifically about Spider-Man." Diana told him seriously and Peter gulped.
"So are you going to have to arrest me then? I know that I stand no chance of getting a decent hit on you but I am sure that I can dodge your Lasso long enough to escape through the window." Peter replied and Diana shook her head.
"I assured them that you were not at fault for what happened to the Stacys and that you mean well, I said that I would get into contact with you and make sure that you were not a danger to the people of New York." Diana told him and Peter gave her a grateful smile. "I could put in a word for you to join the League; it could help improve your public image and the training you could use to get better." Diana continued on and Peter was amazed by the offer but ended up shaking her head.
"Don't know if I could handle big monsters, takes a lot to do my thing on the streets of New York and I think I am better off staying close to the ground for now. I can help out if you really need it though. I mean what if something happens to the little people of New York?" Peter replied and Diana shook her head.
"I will respect your decision but I will say that as Batman has said the monsters you don't fight tend to step on little people. If you won't join the League then how about you clarify for me that you truly want to help under the effects of the Lasso of Truth, I believe you but it would help elevate the concerns of those in authority if I told them that I have interrogated you." Diana asked him with a sigh as if wishing it didn't have to come to this.
Peter was a bit taken aback and freaked out in his mind as he knew about Wonder Woman's magic Lasso of Truth as it forces the one caught in it to speak the truth. Hesitatingly he nodded as Diana got out her glowing golden Lasso and Peter put out his hand on the table. Diana gently tied the Lasso around his wrist.
"Now please tell me what hands you had in the death of the Stacys and how altruistic your intentions are on New York." Diana asked as Peter could feel the magic affecting him.
"Captain Stacy was caught in the crossfire and the Goblin kidnapped Gwen after he found out that I was Spider-Man and wanted to get at me. It may have been my web catching her during the fall that killed her and she died hating Spider-Man. I want to protect New York thanks to my guilt and to make sure no one loses someone like I lost Uncle Ben." Peter told her his eyes widening at how much he was saying and Diana was stunned as she got up to pull him into a hug.
Peter a tear in his eye and felt at ease in her arms and said "thanks your majesty, I wouldn't mind staying in your arms as I have a fanboy crush that started when I was younger; I still respect you as a good natured heroine wanting to speak out to help people as well as having the hots of a butt kicking warrior woman in your scantily clad body..." Peter paused as he jumped back shouting out in panic and noticed the Lasso was still around his wrist as he pulled it off.
"Please, just kill me..." Peter said with pleading in his voice as he stood and couldn't face her but then felt Diana come over him and pull his head up to see that she was smiling at him.
"Don't worry Peter, nothing to be ashamed off as you are far from the first person that said similar things under the effects of the Lasso. I am flattered actually especially with how much you said you respected me; you should hear what 2 certain Green Lanterns have said under the effects. In fact I have heard such things from foes as well; the less said from the mouth of Dr Psycho the better..." Diana told him shaking her head and Peter felt a little bit better. "It's Diana as well Peter, I want to form a friendship and my open invitation to come around is still open if you feel the need to want to talk. Until next time Peter." Diana told him as she showed him to the door and Peter smiled as he waved back at her.
Disaster averted after a potential embarrassment, he could actually be making a friend in the legendary Wonder Woman herself.
