Chapter 2
As soon as Harry stepped through the door of Grimmauld Place he heard a crash from the kitchen and a drunken song. Some days he felt like more of the parent than Sirius was. He put his keys in the bowl and hung his jacket by the umbrella stand. "Siri?" Harry called through the house following the sounds coming from the kitchen. To most people the sight in the kitchen would be something to make them uncomfortable and scared but to Harry this was a regular occurrence.
Sirius his godfather and guardian was stood in his boxers and a ratty Nirvana shirt a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a mug in the other. "Fucking Cassie" he slurred as he threw the mug at the wall and added to the pile of broken shards in the corner. Harry chuckled, and perched on the kitchen counter taking a swig from one of the empty bottles on the counter top "Something to share with the class Siri?".
"Cassie" Sirius whimpered "She left me for that slimy bar tender. She left ME. How did I fall so far?" Sirius took a deep glug and finally focused on Harry rather than the dishes. "Now Siri are we going to start talking about our feelings? Or are we going to settle this the correct way?" Harry smirked sinfully. "The proper way" Sirius moaned in annoyance. "Good boy" Harry laughed and tapped him condescendingly on his cheek.
He grabbed the seemingly forgotten trousers off of the sofa that was currently filled with empty bottles, cans and cig ends. "Pop these on would you, then we can see about finding a solution to your apparent woes." Lifting the trousers by the tag, Sirius grabbed them and quickly pulled them up.
"Right soldier, it's time to find a rebound and get absolutely wankered." Sirius saluted to Harry before grabbing his shoulder and directing them both out of the door. Harry grabbing his Jacket and keys on the way out.
There relationship was a complicated one. Although Sirius raised Harry they were more like brothers. This was not something that bothered Harry, he could not think of a better person to be his guardian.
Harrys upbringing was far from suburbia. Sirius taught his charge all about the finer things in life. An education in Dark magic, booze, drugs, music, fighting and most importantly how to charm absolutely anyone from crones to pureblood royalty.
Harry and Sirius frequented muggle establishments the most. With the wizarding world believing the both of them where missing there was a good reason not to frequent magical establishments.
Although Sirius was able to manoeuvre Hadrian away from Dumbledore they were not protected from his scheming. The mans reach spread throughout England and Scotland.
Harry had only recently turned 15, an age at which it was expected that he would be a Hogwarts student. They had decided that they had put it off for long enough. Hadrian was trained and strong and needed to attend the school eventually.
"Delilah, two pints of larger and give me some of those pork scratchings please, love." Sirius said as he opened the door of the stag pub.
"Nope, no, Sirius not after yesterday I told you to steer clear for a while" Delilah was like a mother to the boys. She supplied them both with entertainment and occasionally free alcohol if she was feeling charitable. She and Sirius had a brief Tryst to which ended as quickly as it started as their maturity levels were far from matching up.
"Oh, come on baby, think of our child. Do you want to make him sad." Sirius used his puppy eyes and lent up against the bar. A smirk dancing upon his lips as he spoke, his voice soft and husky. "I can't stay mad at you boys, even after last night." Rolling her eyes, she poured the pints and pushed them at the boys. "This does not mean I forgive you boys." Delilah pointed at the guilty party.
Putting both hands up Sirius dramatically knelt to plead. Everyone watched in amusement. The locals had come to expect this behaviour from the duo. "I am sorry, I did not mean to shave that mans head or glue Peter to the bar seat." He said through choaked laughter. Harrisons masking was poorer if possible. "You have to admit Lilah it was hilarious when he tried to stand up." He choked and sniggered, stopping to have a drink. "It's going to take more than that boys, I lost two loyal customers." Delilah stalked back to serve her other customers.
"Ouch" Sirius clutched is heart. "The pain, she hurts me so." Deciding he had made enough of a scene and getting up from the floor perching on the bar stool next to Harry. "I'm sure she does Siri; you have to admit it was funny though." He smirked into his glass. "Most definitely my child, who is our next target?" they surveyed the room.
"So, what is our plan? For school?" Harry questioned his guardian.
It was the end of august and plans needed to be set.
"You're going to get on the train like any normal child and try to blend. The most important aspect though Harry, you need to befriend as many as people as possible and obviously avoid the old coot at every moment. You good?"
"I'm good Siri, it's time."
Harry downed his drink and got up to get another round. Hogwarts filled his brain. So many questions. What would it be like? Would he find any friends? Would they accept him as Hadrian or just think of him as Harry Potter?
By the end of the night Harry was holding Sirius up as they walked through the streets of London. Sirius had gotten his wish, he had completely forgotten who Cassie was, not that Harry was sure who she was in the first place. Sirius was someone who had a new flavour each week, yet shockingly he seemed hurt each time he called it off or the partner did.
The one that seemed to leave the biggest mark was Kev, they were together for 3 months probably the longest relationship Sirius had ever had.
"I love you Prongslet" Sirius mumbled into Harry's shoulder.
"Love you to Dogfather." Harry laughed taking more of Sirius's weight onto him as they made it to the door of their home.
A home that Sirius once resented that was now filled with love and laughter. His mother would be turning in her grave if she knew.
Soon this home, he would leave.
For a destination that raised his braveness.
"Here we are Siri" Harry hauled him into the home.
He unceremoniously dumbed him on the sofa.
Harry laughed to himself as he removed his father figures docs and jacket and pulled a blanket over the man.
"I don't know what I'd do without you." Sirius whispered, eyes closed drifting into the land of Morpheus.
"Me neither Siri." Harry whispered back before heading up to his room.
