Fourteen years later

Nate is walking around STAR LABS checking some of the systems to make sure that they're still fully operational for the particle accelerator to be turned on tonight. After about forty minutes he's done and he walks back into the cortex. Nate sees Ronnie Raymond, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon, and Harrison Wells. He walks up to Cisco "Hey bro, everything alright because you seem kind of tense?"

Cisco smiled at Nate "No just some problems with my family dude."

Nate put a hand on Cisco's shoulder "Dude I told you that you have more family and I'll always have room for family so if you need a place to stay even just for a while my place is open."

Cisco nods "I know bro but I don't think it's that bad yet. However if it does get that bad I'll be over to stay."

Nate nods with a smile before he hears his phone ringing. He pulls it out of his pocket and sees that it's Iris calling him. He answers "Hey Iris, what's up?"

Iris smiles on the other end "Hey Barry said that he's got two tickets to see the particle thing turn on tonight. I was hoping that we can come inside and have a sneak peak at the inside of STAR LABS?"

Nate sighed "Iris I can't let you two in here because neither of you work here. I'm sorry about that but this is the way STAR LABS works. I will however be able to stand with the two of you in the crowed well Dr. Wells talks about the particle accelerator tonight."

Iris pouted before she realized that he couldn't see her "I wish we could have a look inside but oh well at least I'll get to see you again because it's been a few weeks since we've seen each other. Makes me feel like you don't want me around anymore."

Nate smirks "I know what you're trying to do but you seem to always forget that only works on Barry. I however am immune to your words and the way you try to guilt trip me into doing what you want."

Iris giggled "Well it's worth trying to get you. Anyway I have to go because my break is over, bye Nate."

Nate chuckled "Bye Iris."

Nate hung up the phone and sees Harrison walk up to him. Nate looked at Harrison "Can I help you with something Dr. Wells?"

Harrison smiled at Nate "No I was just wondering if you'll be on stage with us tonight or not Nathan?"

Nate smiled "I won't be on stage tonight because my little brother and the girl that has a crush on me are coming tonight so I'll be in the crowd with them."

Harrison nods "I'm sorry that we can't bring them in but you know the rules Nathan."

Nate shrugs "I would like to have them come in but I know that they can't come in so it's no big deal. I know that they can't come in so I'll just see them outside in the crowd."

Harrison nods and walks away with a smile. Nate walked over to Cisco "How about you and I go out to celebrate tonight after the accelerator turns on?"

Cisco smiles "Hell yeah, we're going to have so fun."

They fist bump. Nate looks at the time and sees that he's still got three hours until he's got to meet Barry and Iris. He turns to Ronnie only to see him and Caitlin looking through a magazine on places to go on their honeymoon. So he looks back at Cisco "Want to play some cards to pass the next three hours?"

Cisco shrugged "Sure let's play so poker."

Nate smiled and brought out a set of cards. They both sat down and Nate gave the cards to Cisco "You deal first dude."

Cisco smiled and shuffled the cards before dealing the first hand.

Three hours later

Nate walks into Barry's lab and sees him and Iris. Nate knocked on the open metal door and they look at him. Nate smiles "Hey you two, Barr why aren't you dressed and ready to go see the accelerator turn on?"

Barry sighed "I have to work on something for the case Joe and I worked this morning."

They all hear the computer go off and Barry checks it. He smiles and Joe walks in to see all of them. Joe looks at Barry and Barry glances at Joe "The chemicals in the manure come from these four farms so the Mardon brothers should be at one of them."

Joe nods and takes the list Barry is holding before Nate raised an eyebrow "You should cross reference that with all the known hideouts they used in the past and see if any match because if one does than they would likely be there. If not well you'll just have to try the whole list then."

Joe smiled "Thanks Nate should save me and Chyre a lot of time."

Nate smiled "Always happy to help pops."

Joe left and Nate looked at the other two "Well let's get out of here or we're going to be late for the interview."

Iris and Barry smile and nod before they all left. Thirty minutes later all three of them are standing in the crowd when Harrison walks onto the stage to start the live interview. Five minutes into the interview someone runs towards the three of them and snatches Iris's bag. Since Nate is standing right behind Iris he grabs her bag from the boy before she can turn around. When she does she sees Nate with her bag in his hand. Nate holds the bag out to her "You dropped this when that kid bumped into you, you really should be more careful with your things Iris."

She smiles at him "Thanks Nate, this has my dissertation in it."

Nate chuckles and shakes his head "You really need to stop leaving things on your laptop without a back-up on a flash drive Iris."

Iris blushed in embarrassment "I know and I'll be smarter next time Nate."

Nate sighed "I don't want you to be smarter Iris; I want you to be more careful especially if you want to be a reporter."

Iris giggled "I'll do that Nate, thanks."

Nate smiled "Anytime Iris, anytime."

They turned back only to see Harrison walking off the stage. Nate sighs "Damn, I got to go now because I have to be in there tonight. I'll see you two later."

Nate hugs Iris then he does the same with Barry. He watches them leave before he goes in STAR LABS. Five minutes later he walks into the cortex and sees Ronnie "Hey Ronnie aren't you supposed to be at home packing for your honeymoon with Cait?"

Ronnie looks at Nate and smiles "I'm here for her tonight."

Nate suddenly gets a bad feeling about tonight and before he can tell someone his phone rings. He looks at the caller ID and sees that it's Hartley calling. He answers "Hey man it's been a few weeks since you called everything alright?"

Hartley smiles slightly on the other end before he mentally shakes his head "Nathan there's a small chance that the accelerator is going to fail tonight and Harrison know about it. That's why he fired me."

Nate's eyes widen at that "Hartley I have to go and see if I can turn this thing off before it's …oh shit! Hartley if you're here then duck and cover your e-"

Nate can't finish because the call gets cut off. Nate pulled his phone away from his ear to see that it fried itself. He sighs "Damn I hope that was enough to help him."

Nate then hears an explosion and turns around only to be hit with a white bolt of lightning. Barry who's back in his lab is hit with a yellow lightning bolt. Both of them are thrown backwards and land on the ground unconscious. Barry had a red glow slide up his body from his right foot to his right cheek before it disappeared. Nate had a blue glow slide up his body from his left foot to his left cheek before it disappeared too. Cisco came back into the cortex and saw Nate on the ground and ran over to him "Nate!"

Caitlin heard Cisco yell and she ran into the cortex only to see Nate on the ground unmoving. She started to cry harder because she just lost her fiancé and now one of her best friends looks like he's dead.

Nine months later

Nate gasps awake and sits up in bed "Ouch, why does my head feel like I tried to head butt my way through drywall?"

Cisco walks in as soon as Nate woke up "Well you did get hit but a lightning bolt inside the cortex so you hit the floor pretty hard."

Nate sighed "Damn, how long was I out?"

Caitlin walks in "Nine months, your little brother Barry was in the same condition as you but he woke up a week ago. We already stopped one person with powers that was robbing banks."

Nate looked at Caitlin with a raised eyebrow "I'm going to start putting my money in my mattress then."

Cisco laughed "I already started."

Nate smiled when Cisco laughed but his smile disappeared when he saw Caitlin didn't even try to laugh. He looked at her "Cait, what's got you so upset?"

Caitlin looked at Cisco "Can I have some time alone with Nate?"

Cisco who knew that besides Ronnie, Nate was the only one that could help Caitlin because she'd open up to him left the room hoping that Nate could bring back the old Caitlin. She turned to Nate and had a small smile when she saw him standing with his arms open waiting for the hug he knew she needed. She ran into his arms and started sobbing. Twenty minutes later she stopped and looked up at him. He wiped the remaining tears off her face and out of her eyes. She smiled at him and he could see the sadness in her eyes. Caitlin took a deep breath "Ronnie died that night Nate. He ran into the pipeline and he never made it back out. The explosion killed him. There wasn't even a body left."

Nate looked down at her with wide eyes "Cait I'm so sorry. If I wasn't on the phone with-"

Nate stopped talking because he had a look of realization come to his face. Caitlin saw this "Nate who were you on the phone with?"

Nate shook his head "Hartley, he said something that I need to talk to Dr. Wells about, where is he?"

They heard "I'm right here Nathan, what did Mr. Rathaway tell you?"

Nate looked over Caitlin's head and saw Harrison in a wheel chair "I'd say you got what you deserved if you hadn't killed Ronnie."

Caitlin and Cisco who had walked in behind Harrison looked at Nate with widened eyes. Harrison sighed "I have no idea what you're talking about Nathan."

Nate glared at him "Don't give me that bullshit Harrison, Hartley told me why you fired him. He warned you about the small chance of the accelerator failing and causing an explosion so when he tried to get what he told you to a zero you fired him! It was because of your arrogance that my brother and I were hit by lightning, and that Ronnie's dead. Now you have two choices you can either sign STAR LABS over to me by the end of the week or you can get ready for court because I will be suing you otherwise."

Cisco looked at Nate "Dude you need to calm down and think about this."

Nate looked at Cisco and sighed "I am calm bro, but I won't take back what I said because those are the only two choices I'll give him. Now if you'll excuse me I have to make four phone calls."

Nate walked out to go get his extra cell phone from his office. When he turned it on the first person he called was Barry. When Barry answered Nate sighed "It's me Barr, I'm awake and I'm still at STAR LABS. I need you to get Joe and Iris and get over here."

Nate heard Barry say alright before he hung up and called Joe. Joe answered "Hello?"

Nate smiled "Hey pops, Barry is going to get you and the two of you need to get Iris before coming to STAR LABS. I want to see my family again."

Joe smiled "We'll see you soon son."

Nate hung up again and called Iris. She answered "Nate? Why are you using your back up cell?"

Nate chuckled "Barry and Joe didn't know it was me but you did, that's funny. Anyway I'm awake here at STAR LABS I'm going to have Caitlin run some tests on me to make sure I'm fine but I have your dad and Barry coming to get you before you all come here. I'll see you soon Iris."

Nate hung up after Iris said bye. He sighed and called Hartley. Hartley answered "We failed Nathan."

Nate pinched the bridge of his nose "I know Hartley, I'm having Harrison sign STAR LABS over to me or I'm taking him to court and getting it anyway. I'd like to hire you back after I get STAR LABS renamed to something else. I also need to get it up and running again. Just wanted to give a heads up so you have some time to think about it."

Hartley smiled "Thanks Nathan and I'll think about it. Oh I know Caitlin is broken up about Ronnie's 'death' but Ronnie isn't dead. You should look into Martin Stein and FIRESTORM to find him."

Nate smiled "Thanks Hartley. I thought I lost someone again."

Hartley chuckled "You're welcome Nate, bye."

Nate hung up after saying bye. He walked back into the cortex and looks at Harrison. Harrison sees Nate and sighs "I'll sign STAR LABS over to you; the paperwork should show up in a few days."

Nate nods "I'm sorry for the way I made you do this Dr. Wells but I can't have you running this place anymore because I need to help the city. Now let's get ready for three guests because Barry, Joe and Iris are coming over."

Everyone smiled at Nate. Nate looked at Caitlin "I don't know all the details yet but Hartley said Ronnie isn't dead, he told me to look into Professor Martin Stein and FIRESTORM to find out was happened to Ronnie. I wanted to let you know because if Hartley is right I promise you that Ronnie is coming home."

Caitlin had tears of joy in her eyes and a smile on her face "Thank you Nate."

Nate smiled "I'm always here to help Cait. Besides I would like to have him as an employee. In fact I need you and Cisco to think if you'd like to work at Horizon Industries."

Cisco smiled "I'm in and Horizon Industries? Where did you come up with that name?"

Nate smiled "It's something my mom use to say when I told her that I wanted to own my own science lab one day to help the people in the world to have better lives."

Caitlin smiled "That's a great dream Nate. I'm sure your mother would be proud of you."

Nate sighed "I know she is proud of me Cait, just like I know that she's watching over my brother and me from heaven."

Everyone smiled at that and Nate sat on the bed he slept in for nine months "Cait I need you to run some tests on me so we can make sure that I'm perfectly fine. I also want told of how Barry helped you three stop someone with powers. I would really like someone to tell me what I'm missing about people with powers."

While Caitlin was running every test she could think of Cisco was telling Nate all about metas and how Barry wanted to stop them as well as help innocent people. When Cisco was done Nate looked at the ceiling "Well damn, so my little brother can run really fast, guess we should call him a speedster."

Cisco smiled at that "I missed having you around bro."

Nate smiled back "No big deal man, everything will be back to normal for us soon."

Cisco smiled before he remembered something "Oh Nate I've been staying at your house since about two weeks after you were strike by lightning. I'll move out if you need me to."

Nate put a hand on Cisco's shoulder "Cisco I told you Nine months ago and several times before that, you're more than welcome to stay at my place. Hell man, I've got a few so if you want one for yourself you only owe me like fifty dollars and the place is yours."

Cisco looked at Nate with wide eyes "I thought you were joking about that dude, there's no way I can pay you so little for a place to stay."

Nate smiled "The money is actually what you're paying me to buy the house. I'd just give it to you but I know you'll never take it that way so fifty dollars and you get to choose a house to live in."

Cisco looks at Nate with a slack jaw. Cisco shakes himself out of his daze "I can't take a house from you Nate."

Nate sighed "Cisco you're not taking a house from me, you're buying a house from me."

Cisco sighed "I'll think about it."

Nate smiled "That's all I'm asking."

Nate looked to his left hand with wide eyes when it started to vibrate at an incredible speed, it stopped just before Iris, Barry, and Joe walked in; they all saw Nate sitting on the bed he'd been sleeping in for the last nine months. Barry ran up and hugged Nate. Nate smiled and hugged Barry back. They broke the hug and Nate put his hands on Barry's shoulders before looking into his eyes "Are you alright little brother?"

Barry smiled "Yeah Nate I'm fine now that you're awake. Cisco's been staying at your house."

Nate smiled "I know he already told me and that's fine since I offered him a room more than once before my coma. Speaking of how in the hell were you struck by lightning in your loft?"

Barry chuckled nervously and looked away. Nate narrowed his eyes "Barry you had better have been in your loft."

Iris giggled "He was at his lap closing the sun window he has when he got hit by lightning."

Barry looked at her "Iris, he wasn't supposed to know that!"

Nate glared at Barry "Bartholomew Henry Allen you had better tell me why in the hell you were in that office instead of at home relaxing!"

Barry looked at the ground "Can we talk about this in private Nate?"

Nate's glare softened "No because if you're asking for that then I know why. Barry I thought we talked about this, we'll get dad out together and now I think we'll have a better chance because in a few days I'll own STAR LABS and I'm renaming it to Horizon Industries."

Barry looked at Nate and smiled "That's great Nate, hey maybe you could set up a contract between Horizon Industries and CCPD."

Nate chuckled "Let me get this back up and running with some more people before we worry about that little brother."

Barry nods and Nate looks at Iris "What no hug from you? Did you forget how to greet me?"

Iris smiled "Nate can I talk to you and Barry in private please?"

Nate looked at her with a raised eyebrow "Yeah my office doesn't have any intercoms or surveillance cameras in there so we can have a private conversation inside there."

Nate leads them to his office. They all sit down and Nate motions for Iris to start. Iris took a deep breath "I got asked out by my dad's new partner Eddie Thawne. I didn't know what to say to him so I asked him if I could have sometime to clear up a night for that."

Nate and Barry looked at Iris with wide eyes. Nate cleared his throat "Iris if you're really thinking about that I'd tell you not to go through with it for the simple reason that when Joe finds out he'll have to divide his focus between doing his job and protecting Eddie because of the two of you dating."

Iris frowned "I didn't think of that."

Nate smiled "I figured because if you did then that would mean that you're either really mature for your age or you're a parent even if you had to adopt a child."

Iris blushed "I'm not ready to be a parent yet Nate."

Nate chuckled "No one is ready to be a parent until they already have a child Iris. Trust me on that one."

Barry and Iris smile. Nate sighed "It's time I tell you both the part of the truth that I couldn't tell you the day after mom was killed fourteen years ago."

Barry and Iris looked at each other before Barry motioned for Nate to walk into the hall way with him. Nate nods and looks at Iris "Give Barry and I a moment Iris it would appear as though he has something to tell me first."

Iris smiled "Sure Nate just hurry back because I've been curious about the rest of the truth for fourteen years."

Nate nods and follows Barry into the hall. Nate closed the door and turned to Barry "What do you need to speak to me about right now Barr?"

Barry sighs "Joe made me promise not to tell Iris about my speed and now I need you to do the same to me. Promise me that you won't tell her about our speed."

Nate looked at Barry and rolled his eyes "I'm not going to make that promise little brother. Not even to Joe, Iris deserves to know the truth."

Barry sighed "I thought you'd say that so I texted Joe to come to us so he can talk some sense into you."

Joe turned the corner at that moment and saw the both of them. Joe looked at Nate "You can't tell her about any of this."

Nate glared at Joe "Try and stop me old man. I'm telling her weather the two of you like it or not. You say you want to keep her safe but all you're doing is putting her in danger by not telling her about any of this."

Iris walks out of the room and glares at Barry and Joe "Nate's right the two of you should have told me about this because I would have been more prepared if something had happened and one of those people with powers came after me. Nate thank you for being willing to tell me the truth. Do you still need to talk with me and Barry?"

Nate shook his head "No just you now Iris so let's go back into my office and have that talk."

Iris smiled and turned around to walk back into Nate's office when Barry grabbed Nate's shoulder "What the hell Nate? I thought you were going to tell the both of us the rest of the truth about the night mom was killed?"

Nate shrugged Barry's hand off "Why the hell should I tell you, after all it's not like telling you is going to put someone in danger."

Barry and Joe looked at Nate with wide eyes as they watched Nate and Iris go back into Nate's office. Nate locked the door and motioned for Iris to take the seat in front of him. She did and Nate sighed "The rest of the truth is that the yellow and white lightning in our house that night belonged to this version of me and Barry. Our adult versions, they came back in time while fighting a third speedster. That's the term for someone like me and Barry. Anyway it was actually Barry and the third speedster fighting. I was there to make sure that they didn't miss up the time line. The older versions of me and Barry called themselves Godspeed and Flash respectively. Godspeed told me that mom's death had to stay the way it was because it was a fixed point in order for us to get our powers sooner. Godspeed told me the third speedster is nicknamed Reverse Flash."

Iris looked at Nate with wide eyes "Nate you have to tell Barry this. He needs to know."

Nate smiled "I will but I'm going to keep it from him for as long as he kept his idiotic promise to Joe first."

Iris sighed "You don't have to do that Nate, he needs to know."

Nate chuckled "He will know and Iris he also needs to learn that keeping secrets from those you care about is very dangerous."
