Hey hey hey... itsssss me again. You probably don't really think to much of it but instead of chapters every 10 days I've shortened it down to 6 days because waiting sucks. Oh...and if you're confused on why I'm saying things and there's no context it's because this story is a part two to my other story "procrastinated" that doesn't mean everything that has no context is from that it's just that somethings happened in that one that may not still be in this one. That's it I guess. Enjoy
A certain German Shepherd opened his eyes for the first time in 9 hours. Naturally you'd know what was going on but getting a call early in the morning and the night before was restless work could deprive you of sleep. "Where am I? This isn't Katie's." Chase mumbled as he sits up.
Machines started beeping as Chase took out 2 needles. He walks off the bed but instantly falls. He looked down at his leg and it had stitches and the area had been shaved off. He got his paws warmed up by moving them around. He felt very light headed and funny.
2 nurses walk into the room and reached for Chase. He scurried under their legs and ran out into a crowded hallway. Slipping and sliding the light called him and he ran towards it.
He was in a lobby, people walked in and out of the door. Chase realized he had a custom gown made for dogs. He rips it off and heads to the door.
He tries to recall last night... or this morning. It's still blurry. Questions raced through his head... then something important came to his mind. Zuma, he must've known what happened.
Chase scans his surroundings. He's in the wrong side of town. It's not as bad as it used to be anymore since the addition of a police department and fire station. Plus the hospital.
Chase sighed. He knew it was going to be a long, slow, and uncomfortable walk. He analyzed his leg. It had two long lines of stitches from where the Rottweiler bit him. He sighed. He's been bested 13 times by other dogs and humans.
Yelling could be heard from behind. "Get him!" A male nurse yelled. 3 nurses start to chase Chase.
He does the natural and run towards the direction of the lookout. It was not close at all. He tries to think of the closest place he can hide at. "The twins!" He exclaimed. He looked around to make sure nobody heard. They were the closest option at the moment.
Their house was maybe 70 yards away plus the right turn. Chase was sure he could make it. When he looked behind the nurses we gaining. His eyes widen and he runs as fast as he possibly could at the moment. The middle nurse was no joke.
When he reached the door he knocks and doesn't stop. "What do you wa- Hey Chase. What are y-OOF"
Chase pushed Tuck and jumped inside of the house and shut the door. "Where'd he go?" He heard one asked. The footsteps fade out and Chase let's out a sigh of relief.
"What was that for?" Tuck asked as he rubbed his head and got back up. Somethings were off about Chase at first glance. "Where's your collar? And why do you have stitches?" Ella asks from out of nowhere.
"I'm pretty sure I got into a fight... you look extra fluffy today..." Chase replies trying to recall the night before... or this morning.
"What time it is?" Chase added.
"2PM" Tuck blankly replied still thinking about Chase's weird comment. Never in his life he thought he would hear Chase say "you look extra fluffy today"
Chase sighed. He wasn't sure what to do at the moment. Soon there were 3 heavy knocks on the door. Chase opened it and there were 3 men in black suits. "This ain't goo-aAhhhh."
Tuck and Ella looked at the closed door. "Did he just get kidnapped by the police?" Ella spoke with wide eyes.
Tuck wasn't sure what to do either. "Just uh... inform Ryder. He can probably figure this out." Tuck ordered.
"So... was he winning?" Everest curiously asked. Marshall felt a little uncomfortable with her interest in the Chases situation at the moment
"Definitely not." Zuma said as he balanced a dog treat on his nose.
Skye walked in and startled Zuma causing him to drop the treat. "Must have had a busy night, since all the breaking in a stuff."
The pups watched Ryder speed down the stairs. "Let's go pups, just got word that he ran off." Ryder sighed as he opened the door. The pups flooded out the door and got into their respective vehicle. Skye had to tag along with Rocky. Everest went with Marshall since ya know. Rubble sighed. He's been single for the past 2 months. He wasn't heart broken or anything, Lola had to move out of town so they agreed to just end it there and forget about it. They haven't heard from her since.
"Hey Marsh, don't ever become a police officer." Everest stated from out of the blue.
Marshall raised a brow. "I'm confused, I wasn't planning on becoming one." He replied.
"Good, Look at Chase, he does all this work just to get beat up." Everest explained. She couldn't imagine a beat up Marshall walking home.
Marshall felt kinda bad that she was talking behind Chase's back. To be fair she's 100% right and Chase probably knows too. "I'm sure he has it in him, give him some time and he'll get better at the whole crime fighting thing." Marshall assured. He started to wonder if he could do it.
"Why are we at the police station?" Skye asked through the pup tag.
"They are brought Chase here for questioning. We get to see how he acts when we're not near him though." Ryder said. He wanted to see how it goes. It would be something new.
They sat on the other side of a black mirror. They watched as three men brought Chase in with handcuffs. "Do what you want I'm not a criminal... I work here you know that right." He sighed as he glared at them. He wasn't sure if they wanted a starring contest or not since they had glasses.
They didn't respond. Chase lifts his head to the ceiling. "Everest? Does anyone here eat liver like it's an addiction?" Chase asked as he looks to the window real quick. Chase looks back at the three guys. "Since I'm the one with the information... let's make a deal. You tell right now if Ryder and the others are outside of that window." Chase said as he got off of the chair and sat on the floor. "Those were always uncomfortable." He mumbled.
"And if we say Yes you'll believe it?" One guy asked.
Chase didn't reply to the flaw in his agreement. He gave it some more thought and decided to ditch it. "Right... shoot you're questions." He said as he looks to the window. He gave a wave motion. Rubble waved back.
"He can't see us you...know that right?" Rocky asked.
"He could definitely smell Everest. Anyone can." Rubble joked.
She going to retaliate but they started talking so Ryder shushed them. She still didn't let Rubble say that without a consequence so she gave him a light punch.
Skye noticed something odd. "He's acting kinda... weird. Like he's too relaxed." She points out.
"Bring in the brown one!" One of the men yelled.
A short bald man walked up to them. "If you don't mind can we question you along with Officer Chase?" He asked.
Zuma nodded and followed him inside. In his mind it was happening. The men in suits and one way window and the concrete walls.
"Zumaaaa! Haven't seen you since you're adventure with death last night... or this morning." Chase exclaimed happily.
Zuma smiled. He thought about what Skye said. She was on the dot with that one.
"Okay, first of all... do you know what Gasket's intentions are?" The man in the middle said. He was the biggest one out the the three and he had a notebook in his hands.
"Uhhh... something about being the worlds greatest robber." Chase replied.
Zuma decided to do the talking to prevent Chase from embarrassment and a bad picture. "The convewsation went more like hew talking about becoming the worlds greats thief. I think she's losing her sanity." Zuma explained. He looked to Chase who is clearly thinking about something. His eyes widened like a lightbulb turned on. "She said the thrill was cool. And glory. Although I'm not sure how glory works in this but she said that too. I'm thinking we just don't chase her down at all. If she does it for the thrill then we don't give her a thrill" Chase said as he cockily smiled. He felt very accomplished with his answer. The other three weren't amused.
Zuma recalled this morning. Chase seemed one step closer to normality. "Yep" Zuma agreed.
"Glory as in restoring something to its former glory or like glory as in they praise you?" The man in the middle asked.
"The second one." Zuma replied.
Chase looked at them. "Hey bud, I work here... kinda... I'll find out your name." Chase said for no reason.
"Good for you. Do you think she had help with her escape?" The left guy asked.
Zuma was amazed how these guys were showing no emotion throughout all of this. "Definitely! There's no feasible way for her and two ROTTWEILERS to move that fast! I found them escaping through a man hole! You let them get into a man hole! It is so incredibly hard to pick those up when dogs have PAWS!" Chase exclaimed. Chase was still disappointed in how bad the cops were trained. He felt his mind touch down to earth. "Whoah what was that..." he mumbled.
"Yeah, she definitely had a get away driver down there in the sewers." Chase finished.
Chase glared at them because they glared at him. "I can go now right?" Chase asked because of the silence. He was irritated with how long they dragged it on.
"No..." he replied.
Chase simply sighed. Zuma remembered the exact words he told Ella this morning about being in a concrete room while they questioned you. They all sat there in silence. They were gonna throw him in prison with Chase. Chase would get them killed in prison. Endless scenes went through Zuma's mind.
"What do you think they are doing?" Skye asked as she basically pressed her head against the glass. She could clearly here them but they stopped talking.
"No clue." Everyone else replied.
Rubble chuckled at his thought. "Maybe telepathically talking to each other." He whispered...Nobody laughed. He decided it would be best not to talk.
Chase heard something tap the wall. He looked around and it was clear they had no clue. "We need to get out of here. There's something out there!" Chase said as he pulled on the chains. They looked at Chase unconvinced and unfazed.
Seconds later a sharp buzzing sound was clearly audible. Chase tugged even more which wasn't helping.
They unlocked Chase and ran out the door. Chase watched as a perfect circle was cut through the wall followed by smoke grenades. "What the..." Ryder said as he tried see what was going on.
A figure quickly ran in before running into the glass. "WRONG BUILDING!" A male voice yelled. They heard some more yelling. Then some tires screeching on the ground. "I think they might've failed." Chase said as everything retreated. The three men watched the door not worried about the glass as for it is bullet proof.
The smoke exited through the hole and nothing was found. Only thing they had was the thud on the glass.
"Where's your pup tag?" Ryder asked.
Chase looked down. He started to wonder about that as well. "Not sure...I'm hungry...very hungry." Chase said as his stomach growled.
Ryder turns his new objective to Chase getting food. "Can we leave?" Ryder asked. He examined the inside of the building. Just in case something pops up in the future.
"Go for it... we'll cover everything that just happened. Thank you Zuma and Officer Chase." The bald man said as he saluted them out.
They all walked out. "Woah! Chase got battle scars!" Rubble said as he pointed to his legs.
Everest bumped Marshall. That just proved her point even more. "He could still find it." Marshall replied bitterly. He really needed Chase to do something positive.
"Would've been worse if Zuma didn't step in. Saved this from becoming a chicken leg." Chase said as he showed the leg to everyone
"You fight a Rottweiler!" Rubble exclaimed.
They watched Rubble fanboy over their early morning fight. He by far the most into Batman. Understatement, anyway superhero related. Batman is technically a detective. Chase and Zuma were the closest he could get to a detective at the moment.
Silence took over the air. "Let's head home, I have an extra pup tag." Ryder spoke breaking the awkward silence. Chase got into Ryder's truck as he lead them home.
Chase felt his stomach ache. "How did I end up in the adventure bay Hospital?" Chase asked trying to take his mind of the beautiful thought of food.
"Sowwy!" Zuma sheepishly said through Ryder's watch. He turned it off so they can't hear their conversation anymore. "From what I've heard Gasket seems arrogant. Really arrogant. Try to use that against her." Ryder suggested. He used to know of an arrogant person.
Chase took it and noted that down in his head. Ryder is a smart guy. Chase would easily believe anything he said.
Gasket sat in her chair. She expected some company but company never came. She wasn't planning on giving the Rottweilers money. Planned on just killing them in the room just in case they get caught by the police. After 10 minutes of waiting she grew impatient. "Guess they never finished their job..." she mumbled to herself with a grunt. Now she had some loose ends and for the first time, she left a trail. She needed a way to cut those ends.
Sho looked around her empty room. Gasket never had many friends to begin with. Her life had always been a struggle since the day she was born. Her mother was taken away by animal control and her father watched over her. He taught her how to simply con people for money and run off with stolen sausages.
Until she mastered the art of breaking in from another stray. Along the way she met 3 unlikely friends. Dwayne a bloodhound, hubcap a bull dog and Linus a pit bull. Their ambitions only grew. They didn't fear anything. The downside... being really oblivious to the dangers of breaking and entering. Getting caught meant it was over. They didn't care, they gave zero thoughts. Linus realized this and had to save himself from a lifetime in jail.
Then it took a turn for the worst and messed around with the wrong city...
Adventure Bay. They thought it was easy for them to rob the place since there were no police stations. But Chase, Marshall, Rocky, and Zuma came in and ruined their trio... Gasket opened her mind and saw what Linus saw. She dropped her friends and decided to do this solo. In all the chaos she loves the competition the PAW Patrol gave. Even though they weren't any good catching her she enjoyed it. Like a game of cat and mouse. Just that the mouse is way more experienced.
The reason she dropped Dwayne and Hubcap was that...she was too good for them. Their failure at the Pet Parlor opened her eyes. She left Dwayne to get turned in at the lookout. If Dwayne lost to a house dog that wasn't even meant for fighting, it meant she was walking around with dead weight. She believed that she could still rob and avoid the brand new police department. The close calls were her favorite. Soon there would be wanted posters of her and everyone would know her name and face.
knock knock knock*
"Come in!" Gasket yells.
The door slowly creeks open. On the other side was a white pit bull. "Linus?" Gasket asked in surprise.
"Yep, been 3 years! I see you've built quite the place with that diamond." He said, instantly complimenting it. He had seen the rise and fall of cocky criminals. Gasket might be just like them.
Gasket got ready to present it. "Stole it from the paw patrol! Some dumb German Shepherd fell for my charades." Gasket said referring to Chase.
Linus nodded. "This is the key to me becoming the worlds gre- Linus?" Gasket asks as she looks to where he used to be standing. He had heard enough. In no time she would fall just like everyone else... he was sure of it. The phrase "worlds greatest criminal" no longer had meaning since every criminal wanted that title.
Chase burped. "That was the best kibble I've ever had." He complimented.
Rocky thought about his statement. "It's the same one we always eat." He replied.
"It still tastes good."
"So... what actually happened?" Everest asked.
"Weren't you guys there? I said what happened. I'm still annoyed that they let her rob a bank." Chase replied with a sigh of disappointment.
Chase started to make his way to the door. "Where do you think you're going?" Ryder asked.
Chase thought about it. "See the crime scene." He sheepishly replied. He thought about it and he sounded like a jerk but in his head. Come to the lookout to only eat and sleep.
Ryder sighed. He didn't want Chase instantly going back out with the stitches. "You gotta stay here. For just two days at least." Ryder ordered.
Chase sighed. He walked back and sat back down with the others. Ryder was surprised. He expected a little bit of retaliation. Ryder was relived there wasn't any. He took a seat with the pups to watch the newest episode of Apollo the super dog.
So far so good in 3k words per chapter!
