Vic was laid out on the floor unconscious. Julian rushed to his side as Myles looked around for anything that could have happened. Nothing came to mind. Vic was okay but it was a little worrying to find him unconscious. Julian checked him over for injuries but found none which was a good sign. Myles helped Julain put Vic on the couch and then waited to see their friend wake up.

Kira had been on ops all day. She had hoped that she could have popped down to Vic's with Odo for an hour but none such luck had befallen her. Sisco could see how much she wanted to be elsewhere. He walked over to her to check on her.

"Sir." Kira nodded, coming back to the real world.

"Kira, maybe you should go down to check on Odo. I'm sure he would be happy to see you." Sisco said sweetly.

"I'm too busy up here sir." Kira kept to her duty.

"No you're not. You've been working here all day and by the looks of it all night as well."

Kira shuffled her shoulders. She didn't want to leave her post but she would also love some time off for once. Sisco didn't have the best relationship with Vic so he would be mad if she asked Sisco for some time off to listen to him.

"I'm fine sir. Thank you though." Kira collected a data pad to see more work.

Sisco folded his arms. He shook his head and turned back to the rest of the crew stationed on the bridge. Kira started humming something under her breath once he was gone which nearly everyone recognised as something Vic had sung. Kira always felt at home when she hummed or sang the song so during a war, it always made her feel a little bit better.

Julian was still watching over Vic as O'Brien returned from telling the band back at the bar. Julian put another flannel on Vic's forehead. Vic mumbled something but still didn't awake.

"How's he doing?" Myles asked.

"He's mostly just tired but he has a fever. I'd like to run some tests and then I remember he's a hologram." Julian smirked.

"Don't worry about that. Sometimes I think Vic's a real person." Myles smirked back.

Julian looked back at Vic as he moaned. Vic's eyes opened slowly but didn't seem too focused. He soon calmed when Julian kneeled down to his eye level.

"Vic, can you hear me?" Julian asked.

"Yeah I can hear you fine. Just the room's spinning." Vic slowly sat up, with Julians help.

"What happened? We walked in and you were flat out!" O'Brien huffed, still concerned about Vic even though he was putting on a brave face.

"I just fell."

"Vic you need a break." Julian said with Myles' support. Vic obviously wasn't going to agree to that.

"No way. If I take a break then the whole bar goes down and I know everyone on the space station wouldn't like that." Vic shook his head carefully, still burning up.

Julian looked to Myles for support in the matter. Myles came to sit next to Vic on the sofa. He could feel the heat from where he was. It was clear something was awfully wrong with Vic. Even if he was just a hologram he meant a lot to a lot of beings.

"Vic as your doctor…" Julian tried to say again.

"You're not my doctor Julian." Vic smiled.

"As a friend then, I'm not allowing you to go any further. If you try then we will lock you in." Julian warned with Myles nodding.

Vic sighed as he saw the seriousness on Julian's face. He hated being told what to do but he didn't like to argue with his friends either. He rolled his eyes as he tried to weigh up the pros and cons.

"What would the bar do if I was gone?" Vic finally plucked up the courage to ask the question he had been dreading.

Julian and Myles hadn't thought that bit through that well. Myles looked at Vic blankly and he could already tell Vic was worried by this. Julian would have to think on his feet to try and find an answer to this one.

Quark paced the bar waiting for Julian and Myles to return. Rom had been working all day but had been brought in by brother to work longer. Leta had tried to stop him but Quark had been somewhat nice today so Rom had said he would.

"How long are they going to be in there?!" Quark exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.

"Be patient brother." Rom smiled back trying to keep Quark in a good mood even though it wasn't going to work.

"How can I be? They're taking loads of hours in my most wanted holosuite." Quark pointed his hand over to the holosuite.

Rom just ignored Quark and got back to clearing up the tables with Morn watching on. Rom needed somehow to keep busy so scanned his mind for something to keep him distracted. A song kept popping up and he couldn't keep it out of his mind. Also a few jokes came up and he started quietly chuckling along while listening to them.

"Why are you laughing?" Quark shouted across the bar.

"I just thought of something funny that's all. Wanted to remember them." Rom answered a bit quieter than his brother but still shouting.

"Go to Vic's if you want to tell jokes!" Quark shouted even louder.

Quark might get a lot of business from Vic's holosuite but he still didn't like him. Rom on the other hand, spent a lot of his free time in Vic's bar. Rom liked hearing Vic sing and it also meant he could get away from Quark when he was in a bad mood which was a lot of the time.

"I can't." Rom shouted back, a little bit angier.

"If you talk to me like that again, you won't be getting any pay this month!"

"I don't anyway."

Rom kept everything to himself from then onwards. He looked up at the holosuite Julian and Myles had gone to earlier. He just hoped he would be able to join them soon.

"So what's going to happen to my bar when I'm gone?" Vic asked once again.

"We'll hold a talent show." Julian said without really thinking.

The whole room went silent when he said that. Myles was stunned he had actually come up with an answer and Vic was taking this news in. Vic sat up a bit more steadily even with his fever slightly lowering.

"So, you're going to hold a talent show to replace me?" Vic took the answer in.

"Not to replace you. Just to take your place whilst you're resting properly." Julian made sure he put the last two words in.

"Who's going to do it?" Vic asked further.

"We'll ask everyone on the station. They're always wanting to come in here, time to show us if they should stay." Myles jokes.

"Very funny. Of course they'll be allowed back in." Vic smirked patting Myles hand.

Vic's hand still felt very clammy.

"I know two for certain that would like to get involved. So that's a start." Julian got a blanket and put it over Vic as he helped to lie him down again.

"Just don't let Rom get grand ideas." Vic smiled weakly.

Julian gulped. He knew Rom would be very interested in doing the talent show and would jump at the idea of performing. Just as long as he didn't sing.

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Julian and Myles went back to Vic's bar after saying goodnight to Vic. they were sure Vic wouldn't be sleeping for too long but it would do for now. They said goodbye to the band and left the holosuite.

"So we just need to tell everyone about it then? Any idea how we do that?" Myles said a bit under confident now they had left.

"Don't be so pessimistic!"Julian pushed Myles in the shoulder.

Myles shook his head. Julian wasn't taking all of the details into account and he was. He could definitely see the talent show going wrong but he didn't want to mention it just in case Julian dismissed the idea all together and had to shut Vic's bar until he got better.

"What about Kira?" Julian snapped Myles out of his thoughts.

"What about her?"

"Well she keeps humming the songs Vic sings. Maybe she would like to do it."

"And what? Hum the tune?"

"I think she would be a good singer. Nog would do anything to help Vic so he might get involved."

"He might be the master of ceremonies. I wouldn't fancy his chances elsewhere and we know the captain won't get involved."

"Oh you never know! Maybe he might change his mind."

Myles wasn't sure that would ever happen. Sisco didn't like Vic very much and the bar he hated even worse. Cassidy might bring him around but as she was on a mission it would be unlikely that would work.

As they walked back into Quark's bar, they were met with a very angry looking Quark with Rom just a few steps behind. Quark tapped his fingers on his elbow as the two men approached.

"And where have you two been?!" Quark hissed.

"Seeing Vic. He's come down with a temperature." Julian said hearing a gasp come from Rom.

"Is he alright?" Rom said quietly.

"Never mind that. Is he closing the bar?" Quark interrupted before Julian or Myles could answer a concerned Rom.

"No, we've found a way to get around that." Myles looked hopefully at Julian.

"Well? I would like to know before it happens."

"A talent show." Julian said proud of the idea he had come up with.

Quark bit back a chuckle but couldn't hold it back for very long and burst into laughter. Rom frowned as he quite liked the idea.

"Well I think that's the worst idea I have ever heard." Quark said through laughter.

"Well you don't have to be involved. We just need you to keep the holosuite program open on Friday so people can just come in and out." Julian folded his arms.

"Fine. Come on Rom." Quark sniggered.

Rom really wanted to know more but knew his brother wouldn't approve. He followed after Quark with his head hung low. Julian and Myles always felt very sorry for Rom most of the time and this time was no different. They just hoped he would pluck enough courage to maybe get involved with the talent show.
