To those reading this: Hello! My goodness I cannot express how happy I am that people even took the time to view my story. When I wrote this I was only expecting MAYBE a view or two. Now I'm on some people's favorite/follow list and I am extremely grateful. Thank you also for the two reviews and I hope to live up to expectations. Bare with me as I'll do what I can to take suggestions as well as continue writing this story. My personal upload goal will be every three to four weeks, but life happens so if I can't upload in that time frame, then I thank you for your understanding.
Going to be honest, it took a lot of self-control to get this uploaded as Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town was mega addicting for me. Thank you for stopping by and hope you enjoy the chapter!

"Caterpie. The Bug Pokémon. Its short feet are tipped with suction pads that enable it to tirelessly climb slopes and walls."
Ash lowered his Pokédex. Well that explains how it fell from above. He looked back up at Misty and began laughing uncontrollably. There stood Misty, all color drained from her face as the wild Caterpie stuck to her face. Moments later, an ear-splitting scream escaped from her as she began pulling at Caterpie trying to get it away. That seemed to encourage it to latch on harder as she was unable to pull it off and screamed over to Ash.
"Will you PLEASE do something useful other than laugh at me? Get this disgusting bug off me!"
He wiped a few tears away from his eyes, slowing his laughter. Slipping the Pokédex back in his jacket pocket, walked over, and began yanking on the antenna of Caterpie to try and help pry it off. As he placed the Pokédex in his pocket, the arrow to the next page had been accidentally pressed. It continued processing information.
"If you touch the feeler on top of its head, it will release a horrible stink to protect itself."
Ash whipped his head towards the Pokédex and back to Caterpie. It began shaking as a yellowish spore began releasing.
"Uh oh."
"Ketchum!"
They tried to quickly hold their breath, but the fumes were already so powerful that both trainers passed out on the ground, swirly patterns in their eyes. To Caterpie, the situation seemed to have been settled and it inched its way back to the forest. Noxious as the fumes were, the lasting effects weren't so prominent. After a few minutes our two heroic trainers began lifting themselves off the ground.
"Ugh… I haven't smelt something that bad since the time I tried cooking." Ash said with a disgusted face.
"Remind me to never try your cooking." Dusting her clothes off, Misty looked at Ash and just started laughing, "As much as I hate bugs, I suppose that could have been worse. Thanks for helping me out."
He sheepishly smiled and rubbed the back of his head, as was his humble response.
Onwards they went, following the main path wherever they could. The canopy of leaves giving them a shady adventure, staving off the heat of the sun. Dust kicked up as they walked. It seemed like time was just ticking by as they fought battle after battle against wild Pokémon. The first person they walked into was a Lass trainer. Ash figured this would be a good chance to try out the Nidoran-M that he had caught earlier and sent him out. To his surprise she also sent out a Nidoran-M.
Ash was the first to make a move as he yelled out, "Scratch attack!"
Nidoran charged forward, landing a successful scratch on his opponent. In retaliation, the second Nidoran growed out. Be it a battle cry or simply growling out in pain, it was effective. Ash's Nidoran looked back at his trainer for the next order. Unsure of any of his other attacks he ordered, "Continue scratching it till it drops!"
The battle raged on with the victor going to Ash. Lass let out a "tsk" as she sent out the female equivalent of Nidoran.
I better give him a break. I don't want him tired this early into the forest. He looked over at Pikachu and smiled. "You ready for a fight buddy?"
"Pika!" He stated while pumping his fists in a battle-ready fashion.
"Pikachu, I choose you! Quickly start the battle off with a Thundershock!"
Jumping onto the battlefield, Pikachu charged up an electrical current and unleashed it towards Nidoran. Caught off-guard without a command of its own, it took the attack head on. The damage was there, but not enough to take it down.
Lass yelled out a command of her own "Tackle back and show them the power of your horn!"
Like a bull charging a red target, the Nidoran closed the distance and hit Pikachu directly with its horn. Pikachu flew backwards, struck by the attack.
"Pikachu!" A concerned yell came from Ash.
While Pikachu was laying there, Ash could see he was charging up more electricity in his cheek pouches. Grinning, he knew exactly what to do. "Pikachu, show them what you've got!"
Pikachu got up, jumping into the air and unleashing a critical Thundershock right back at Nidoran as if trying to knock him out. It was definitely successful as Nidoran teetered over and didn't get back up.
"Alright we won!" he proclaimed happily. He squatted down and gave Pikachu a double high-five.
"That was pretty good Ash, but I have dibs on the next trainer fight. Can't have my battling skills get rusty while I just watch you battle everything." Misty had her hands on her hips.
"Sounds good Mist! I bet you'll demolish them!"
"What'd you just call me?"
"Oh, uh… well it just kind of slipped out. You always call me Ketchum, so I just called you Mist."
She thought for a second and gave him a big grin. "Well, I like it. You have my permission to call me that all you want."
"Who said I need your permission?" He crossed his arms defiantly. "You're lucky I even grace you with my presence".
Misty walked up to him and flicked him in the forehead, causing him to fall on his rear. "Let's not get too full of yourself Ketchum." She began walking off towards the direction they just came from.
"Wait! Where are you going?" He scrambled back to his feet, Pikachu jumping on his shoulder for a free ride.
"If you're oh so great, why don't you take a look."
Ash turned to the direction where he had just battled and saw it was a cluster of trees with no more path. Overgrowth bushes in between the trees caused the way to be impassible. He kicked the ground sheepishly and started walking after Misty.
Time passed even more as they ran into Metapod after Metapod. The only redeeming feature was their inability to fight back, making training a bit easier. Eventually the battles caught up to them and they had to use a potion on their Pokémon to get them healed up. The sun was basically on the horizon by this point and they were no more closer to getting out of the forest. Suddenly a trainer with a bug net slumped over his shoulder jumped out from behind a tree and pointed at the two. "I challenge one of you to a battle!"
Misty politely said, "I'll battle you, you can send out your Pokémon first."
Her smile faded into a hard stare as the trainer threw out a Pokéball that released a Caterpie.
"What's wrong, never seen a Pokémon as great as this before?" The bug trainer asked.
At that remark, her eye twitched and she sent out Nidoran-F. Needless to say the battle was very one sided as Misty was not very happy from her previous encounter with a Caterpie.
There was just enough time in the day left for one more battle, which Misty also stomped out, due to them being another bug trainer. As the sun was nearly too low to see they decided to stop for the night. Misty began setting up her tent when she stopped to look up at Ash just standing there.
"How come you're not putting up your tent?"
"Well…. I might not have been as prepared as I should have.." He refused to look her in the eyes at this so he just stared down at his shoes. Truth be told, he only had brought snacks and energy bars as he didn't expect to be stuck in a forest.
Sighing, Misty thought about it for a second and said, "Well lucky for you, this is a two person tent. There's a divider in the middle here. I usually put my stuff on the other half, but if we leave our items outside, or the corner of the tent, you could probably have half. But no funny business!"
He put his hands together with a giant sheepish smile, "Thank you so much!"
They went to work finishing the last little bit of the tent and retired for the night. As they laid there, Misty was feeling talkative and said "Hey Ash? Are you still up?"
"Yeah Mist, I'm still up. What'd you need?"
"How come you're traveling? What's your goal?" She was curious since she tagged along and wanted to get to know him a little better.
"Well... I've always admired the strongest trainers. The Elite Four, the Pokémon Master, Gym leaders, and the like. I want to become the best of the best and fight them all. I want to see how far I can go and bring my Pokémon to those levels to show off how amazing they are. What about you?" He looked in her direction to listen, but couldn't see past the divider.
Wow, he's actually a bit more mature than he acts. Makes me wonder if my goal is any good. She thought before starting, "Well I've always admired and loved Water Pokémon so I'm hoping to learn all I can about them. Catch them, work with them, and battle with them. Wherever the future takes me I'll do whatever I can to make sure it includes Water Pokémon." A smile creeped onto her face as the thought of her goal made her happy and that's all that mattered.
"That's beautiful." Ash thought about it and was impressed with her resolve. To him, she was also a strong trainer just by her conviction.
Silence enveloped the two as the sounds of the forest took back over.
The sun arrived with the soft glow of light, most of it broken up by the splattering of leaves. Dew covered almost anything it could cover and the cold of the night still lingered. Pidgey were playing around trees, darting in and out while chasing each other. Ash and Misty were packing up, getting ready to start the day strong.
"All done over here!" Ash notified Misty, "Is it safe for me to cross over?"
"Yeah, I'm about finished here and already dressed. Not everyone sleeps forever like you."
He was perturbed by her comment, but had a tiny idea for revenge. Unzipping the divider he hoisted his pack on his back as he crossed, accidentally getting Misty in the process.
"Hey!"
"Oops, did I do that?" He said with a grin and stepped out into the world again.
Misty joined him and the two set off for the final part of the forest. Shortly after, she got a quick bit of penance by socking him in the arm. Satisfied they were even, they rounded the corner to see a building in the distance. Their journey had been eventful, but salvation was in sight. Eagerly picking up the pace the two were discussing the Forest, when all of a sudden a gust of wind rushed past. The wind turned with a whistling sound as it began circling. This motion ended up creating a weak Gust that kicked up dust and leaves everywhere around our trainers. Peeling off, the object causing the wind landed on the path in front of them. A Bird Pokémon with longer head feathers was standing there with a mischievous look on its face.
Coughing from the debris, Ash brushed the remaining dust away from his eyes and glared angrily over at their attacker. He was about to say something when it dawned on him that this wasn't a Pokémon that he had seen yet. Bringing out his Pokédex, it became apparent this was a Pidgeotto. All remaining angst from the ambush gone, he had only one goal on his mind; to catch it.
"We're not going to let you get away with that one Pidgeotto. Pikachu! Are you ready for some revenge?" Ash looked over to his side where Pikachu would typically be, but he wasn't there.
During the windy gust attack, Pikachu had been flung over to the side and had watched their attacker land. Pikachu let out a short growl. Nobody throws me around like a used ketchup packet. As Ash was uttering his statement, Pikachu was already charging in for a tackle on his opponent. Weaving in and out of the terrain to try and stay hidden to the last minute he made his jump.
Pidgeotto being faster sharply turned an eye towards Pikachu, took advantage of the midair leap, and backed up only slightly so that its claws could be used as a quick attack. Pikachu took the attack, unable to dodge, and hit the ground rolling. It wasn't enough to take him out of commission, but only fueled his battle spirit.
"Pikachu! Let out a Thundershock!" Ash commanded while pointing towards Pidgeotto.
Charging up, he wasted no time unleashing the attack so there was no time to dodge. The second the attack hit, Pikachu poured more power into the attack causing it to do critical damage, but being exhausted he ended the attack early before his opponent could pass out. Panting, Pikachu had a slight grin on his face, proud of his display. It was brief, but there was a red glint out of the corner of his eye as a spherical object crossed his vision. It landed on Pidgeotto and just like that, his opponent disappeared only to be replaced by a Pokéball.
Ash ran over to Pikachu, spinning him around in a victory celebration as he laughed and praised him for his fighting performance. Setting Pikachu on his shoulder, he walked over and clipped the Pokéball to his belt. Ha, that's what you get for causing trouble. I'm sure you'll be a strong fighter and a loyal companion in the future. He looked over at Misty and gave her a victory pose which was returned. They grinned and continued on towards the building.
After their encounter the trio entered the humble structure. Much like the one at the start of the forest, this one was also very clean and had benches for those resting. However, full of energy our two decided to continue onward. They had at last arrived at Pewter City! Everything here had a greyish tint, as most of the buildings and surroundings were made out of stone/gravel. Even the air had a dusty smell to it as Pewter is a well known quarry town. It was a quiet town, but one with history. It had been around almost as long as Pallet town and even boasted a Museum. Another main attraction was the Gym, which housed a fierce Rock trainer.
"Finally! I can't WAIT to get some real food. We can't just live off energy bars."
"Normally I'd pass, but for once I agree with you. Even I'm a bit famished." Misty rubbed her stomach at the mention of food.
Taking a quick pit stop at a local eatery, Ash chowed down on a burger while Misty settled for some soup and hash browns. Planning out the day, the two discussed where they'd like to go.
"Well my first Gym battle will be here, so I vote for hitting up the Gym." He mentioned through mouthfuls of food.
"Hmm, I don't really have any particular interest in challenging the Gym myself, but I would like to check out the museum. It sounds like a fun stop." She was sipping the remainder of her soup quietly.
"Gym first."
"Museum."
"Gym!"
"Museum!" She glared at him.
Sighing he quickly had another one of his brilliant ideas. "How about you try and guess what number I'm thinking of between one and ten and if you get it right, I'll do what you want."
"Fine, you're on Ketchum." Her competitive nature getting the best of her. "I bet it's 7!"
Dumbfounded Ash's mouth dropped as she had been spot on. "How'd you do that?!"
"Duh Ash, everyone picks 7."
Laughing together they both went back to finishing up their meal and discussing Pokémon before they had to go off to the Museum.
It was about midday when they arrived at one of the biggest buildings either of them had seen in a while. Two stories tall with many windows adorned the structure. Entering, they were greeted by a receptionist who gave them an introduction to the Museum.
"Welcome! We're happy to have you visit. This is Pewter City's very own Museum. On the first floor you'll find fossils, a gift shop, a mineral display, and on the second floor you'll find a space exhibit. The entrance fee is 50 Pokédollars per person."
They paid the entrance fee and thanked the receptionist for her hard work before heading in. Unsure of where to start at, they went over to the minerals to start with. Ash thought they looked cool, but ultimately they were just rocks to him. Misty was discussing in fine detail how beautiful the sapphires were and how these gems were nearly as beautiful as she was. Nearly. He rolled his eyes and began to walk away towards the fossils. Misty was still enjoying the gems and didn't even notice her friend had walked away. He was looking around the room, taking in the sights. A few moments later he arrived over to the two sets of fossils that the Museum had.
Kabutops, a primitive and rare Pokémon. He looked up from reading the nameplate below the bones. Two long scythes were in place of its hands and a quite intimidating skeleton. Pikachu jumped down from his perch, onto the glass to take a closer look. A shudder ran along his fur as he jumped back onto Ash. "Not someone you'd like to fight just yet, eh?" Shaking his head, Pikachu pressed his body against Ash's neck for comfort. "Yeah, I wouldn't want to either."
He moved on to the other fossil and read the nameplate. Aerodactyl, a primitive and rare Pokémon. Not very creative here, are they. Oh well, I guess it's hard to write about a Pokémon you barely know anything about.
Standing up he looked down at the bones and a world of darkness rushed towards Ash.
** "Aero!" The rhythmic flapping of wings could be heard in Ash's ears. Wind was rushing past him basically drowning out any other sound as he opened his eyes. His first thought was if that was really the ground down there. "Wait? Down there? Where am I?" He looked around gathering his bearings that he was more than 100 feet above the ground in the claws of an Aerodactyl.
In the distance he noticed there were a lot of pink looking Pokémon. He quickly recognized it as Jigglypuff by the sound of their singing. Trying to cover his ears, his eyelids began drooping due to the onslaught of sleep that was about to hit him. He had just enough time to look up and see that Aerodactyl was also falling asleep. The weight on Ash's stomach released gradually as he was suddenly released. His eyes were nearly closed now. His body began rotating to face him towards the rushing ground that was about to meet him and his eyes fully closed. **
With a gasp he came back to find Misty's hand on his shoulder. She was looking at him confused and asked what happened.
"I must have dozed off. Ever almost fall asleep and feel like you're falling, then jerk back awake? It was a bit like that." Ash stated. Not exactly far from the truth.
"Haha, yeah that happens. As long as you're okay, want to continue our little expedition?" Misty asked with a big smile.
"Of course! I've checked out all I need down here, want to go check out the space expedition? You're not missing much on these fossils."
"Sure! I took a glance at the fossils and they're cool, but not as cool as the gems were. Maybe the space exhibit has something that we can both enjoy?"
"You're on. Let's go!" Ash moved towards the stairs with Misty, eager to leave his vision behind.
To their surprise the space exhibit had quite a bit to do. There was a very pretty display of Moon Stones in a display case that Misty's eyes grew at the sight of. Ash read off the display that scientists believe these might have come from Mt. Moon and are considered to be meteorites. That's pretty cool. Wait, is that a spaceship? "Misty, let's go check out that spaceship!"
"They have a spaceship here?! That's so cool!" She exclaimed as she ran over with Ash.
"Never thought you'd find this cool. Guess I'll have to change how I think about you."
"What's that supposed to mean Ketchum? Don't make me knock you into space!" She tried her best to stifle her laugh at her joke, but failed. Ash joined in on the laughing, "Okay okay, but instead of knocking me into space, how about we simply enjoy it together?" He pointed over towards a room with a sign next to it saying Free Planetarium.
"That sounds pretty fun, let's do it!" Misty grabbed him by the arm and pulled him towards the entrance.
There was just a scattering of people inside as they found two seats near the middle of the room and looked around in awe. The entire ceiling was painted very vividly to depict the night sky as best as possible with an exaggeration of cloud dust. As they were looking around and admiring it, Ash went to place his hand down on the armrest, but instead rested his hand on Misty's. He looked down to see why the armrest felt so weird before noticing what happened and yanked his hand away like it was just burned by a stove. Luckily the room was dark enough for Misty's reddening face to not show. Did he just try to grab my hand? What in the world is going on in his mind? Why'd he move his hand so fast? Wait did I even want him to move his hand? Why DIDN'T I want him to move his hand? Her thoughts were going a million miles a minute while Ash only had a single thought on his mind. I hope she didn't get the wrong idea. Don't want her mad at me. I'll apologize after this.
They both sat there for a few minutes to let their thoughts gather before walking out of the planetarium. Stopping a bit by the stairs he was the first to bring up the topic, "Hey Mist, about what happened in the space room.."
"Yeah?" She said with a bit of unease in her voice.
"I just wanted you to know what happened was an acci-.." He was interrupted by the sound of a little girl yelling.
"Oh my gosh it's a Pikachu! Daddy look, a Pikachu! I want one! Can you get me one?"
The dad of the little girl laughed and apologized to the two as he hoisted up the little child and they walked off to a different part of the exhibit.
"You were saying Ash?" Misty said, eager to hear what Ash was about to say.
"Ahh yeah, as I was saying I'm sorry about that. I don't want you to think I was trying to do anything weird or ruin our friendship." He mentioned with a smile.
A bit disheartened and relieved, she agreed. "It's okay, I know with how little room they give it was bound to happen. We're all good! Should we head out to the Gym? Should be some time left in the day to challenge the Gym." Quickly trying to change the topic in order to take her mind off things.
"Yeah that's true, but I think maybe we should hit up the Pokémon center. We never did that when we arrived. Our stomachs did the thinking for us right away and I think they're trying to do the talking again because I could go for some more food!"
Glad that he was such a simpleton, she quickly agreed and the two winded down for the day. Letting the Nurse Joyette of this town heal their Pokémon as they went out to eat. By the time everything was all done it was already dark outside. Ash decided to postpone the Gym visit till tomorrow. They spent some time hanging out in the Pokémon Center talking. While they were sitting at a table, drinking some beverages and discussing strategies, they overheard a man on the phone.
"What? They're at Mt. Moon? This is big news! We'll have to run this in the newspapers as fast as possible and notify as many people as we can. Team Rocket is to be feared. They'll stop at nothing to get what they want."
The man continued on while Ash and Misty looked at each other worriedly. They shrugged their shoulders and spent some more time hanging out before they retired for the night to sleep off the day's activities.
Tomorrow arrived in the blink of an eye as they soon found themselves in front of the Gym leader's place of residence. Oddly, it looked as if the building itself was made of pure stone. Adorning the entrance were two dragon looking statues with fire bellowing out of their mouth.
"Wow this building is pretty impressive." Ash stated as he craned his head up to see the rounded off roof. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath to steel his nerves as he pushed the doors open. A dim light emanated inside as torches were the main source of light from what he could tell. Inside all he could see was one person about twenty feet ahead of him doing pushups with a yellow scaly Pokémon. He started walking forward to the individual as the doors slammed shut, cutting off the only other source of light.
"Hello! My name is Ash Ketchum and I'm here to challenge the Gym leader here! Would that be you?"
Finishing his current push-up, the trainer looked up at Ash and grinned.
"Maybe someday in the future, but right now I'm just second in charge. Name is Rocky! To get to Brock, you'll need to get through me first!" Both Rocky and his Sandshrew pointed at Ash, clearly looking for a fight.
Ash returned the grin, eager to challenge himself. He grabbed the Pokéball for Nidoran and enlarged the capsule. He threw it out on the field and Rocky returned suit by sending out a Diglett. The fight actually went pretty well as Nidoran took out both Pokémon in one hit. That went pretty well, Nidoran won't even be tired if I need him later. Ash shook hands with his opponent as he pointed further down the room towards the barely visible stairs.
Misty and Ash made their way to the bottom of the stairs as the entire Gym went dark. They looked in each other's directions when four spotlights pointed to a platform above, revealing a man standing there. His arms were folded and a glare adorned his face.
"So. You want to challenge me? I see you took out Rocky pretty easy, but I warn you, I won't be as easy. If you're sure you want to fight me, join me." As he said this he turned away and walked to the opposite side of the field.
Taking another deep breath, Ash took the first step. He looked back at Misty and gave her a grin to ease her nerves as she joined him, confident that Ash could win. They arrived at the top to see Brock still there with his arms crossed. The lights pointed to the stage were diagonal to the stage so they wouldn't be in the way. Good to know it's a fair stage. Ash briefly noted before stating his business. "My name's Ash Ketchum and I'm here to challenge you for your Gym badge!"
Nodding, Brock replied, "Very well, I will use two Pokémon and you may use as many as you'd like. Any use of excessive force after a Pokémon has fainted will result in immediate disqualification and further investigation. Do you agree to these rules?" Ash nodded in agreement.
"Very well! Geodude, I choose you!"
Perplexed, Ash waited for Brock to throw a Pokéball, but he didn't move an inch. The sound of "Geooooo" startled Ash into looking up. Releasing it's hold on the ceiling it freefalled to the arena. Slamming into the floor, Geodude flexed its rocky muscles in a show of power.
"That was impressive Brock, but let's see how long you'll last against this!" He sent out Nidoran and he promptly started raking the ground preparing to charge in.
Without a warning, Geodude grabbed a sizable rock from the ground and threw it downwards towards Nidoran while charging towards him for a tackle.
"Nidoran! Dodge it and start preparing for a tackle!"
Acknowledging the command, he took a leap to the right, dodging the rock. Since Geodude was already charging in, Nidoran tried to pick up enough speed to overpower him, but lost the exchange. He went flying backwards, scraping the ground as he tried to stop.
"Use your horn this time, use it to attack and flip yourself above Geodude." Ash was already formulating a plan that he hoped would work.
Nidoran taking the initiative took Geodude off guard and he was struck with the attack. It wasn't very effective, but he wildly looked around for his prey.
"Great job! Now use Double Kick!" Ash was already pretty confident this would work as Nidoran's first foot slammed into Geodude causing him to buckle. The second kick pushed him a few inches into the ground. Nidoran pushed away and landed several feet away glaring at his opponent.
Brock's face remained unreadable as he watched everything unfold. As Geodude got pressed into the ground he uttered a single command.
"Rock Throw."
With blinding speed Geodude grabbed a rock and whipped it at Nidoran hitting him. Standing his ground, he ground his teeth and charged in.
"Finish this with another Double Kick!"
Geodude, pressed into the ground, popped himself up and was preparing to dodge, but the extra time needed to free himself was his undoing. The kicks landed, this time from the side, causing him to fly across the room and imbed into the wall. For a brief moment concern flashed across Brock's face before he returned to his serious face.
"Geodude, you fought well. Return!" A red beam of light encircled Geodude and gave him a resting place back in the capsule.
"Very well fought Ash. It has been a while since my second fighter has had to enter the stage. This one is a bit larger to be letting sit out all the time, so Onix I choose you!" Reaching for his belt he threw the only Pokéball that was attached. A very foreboding Rock snake began coiling around the stage and roaring. Clearly ready for battle he stared down his competitors.
Nidoran must be tired after that fight, I should let someone else fight like Pikachu. He looked up at the Onix and the darkness of the Gym creeped into his eyes forcing a vision.
**"Pikachu, I choose you!" The loyal rodent looked at his master if he was sure, but his battling spirit knew he could win. He hopped into the arena with Onix and began charging his pouch. In the blink of an eye the Onix hit Pikachu with his tail and snaked over to wrap him up.
"Forfeit this match, that was a terrible decision Ash." Brock shook his head in disappointment.
"No! Pikachu can do this! Use Thundershock!" Pikachu charged up what power he could and released it on Onix. Feeling no pain, Onix simply squeezed a bit harder to cease the attack.
"It's no use Ash. You clearly haven't learned about type matchups and should forfeit."
Sighing, he looked on hopelessly and knew there was no other choice.
"I forfeit." **
Blinking a few times the light in the room returned as Ash grit his teeth. Okay, I REALLY don't know where these keep coming from, but I guess I'm grateful for it. If that vision was true, then I was about to make a huge mistake. It appears Double Kick has been working quite well, so maybe I can pull this off with Nidoran still. Just gotta be careful to not take any more hits.
"Ash, snap out of it. You've got this! Believe in your friends." Misty said as she placed her hand on his shoulder.
"You're right Mist. Nidoran, you ready for another round? If you win this you can say you took on the entire Gym by yourself!"
The thought of being able to show off its power fired up the small purple monster. It began hopping from side to side in eager anticipation.
"Start this off by charging in with a tackle, but wait for my command before you hit!"
Brock began sighing as he knew that wouldn't be effective. "Onix, you know what to do. Wrap this up."
Onix slithered towards Nidoran, taking a wide turn so as to quickly move in and Wrap him up.
"Now Nidoran, jump up and Double Kick!"
For the second time that match, Brock's expression turned to one of shock. What?! Nidoran did as commanded, rolling forward on the ground using his horn as a launching point with a flick of his neck. The extra speed and height got him to Onix as he critically kicked his opponent twice. Onix screeched out in pain, dropping Nidorans guard as he got hit by the flailing tail. He got sent flying across the field and laid there damaged.
Ash winced at the sight and asked "Nidoran, do you think you can continue the fight?"
He slammed one foot on the ground and pushed himself up, breathing heavily. Shaking off the attack, he ran towards his opponent knowing how to end the battle even before the order came.
"Finish this off with another Double Kick!" His trainer pointing towards Onix.
Don't have to tell me twice. It thought as it made contact with Onix, causing the large snake to roll across the floor from the momentum. Both trainers looked over to see if the Rock type would get back up. It attempted to move, but simply crashed back to the floor and groaned.
Brock lowered his head in defeat, while solemnly returning Onix. "Ash, that was a fantastic fight. It pains me to say this, but I thought you were a naive trainer who would be a pushover. You've definitely earned this badge." He rummaged in his pocket and held out a Boulder Badge.
Author's notes:
Well that was something! Chapter three is really where I plan on making the story unique with the visions or at least try. I don't want to reveal too much, but I think all the choices/consequences will start to unnerve Ash as he starts learning more. Leave a review if you'd like, but truly I'm just grateful that you're here reading my story. Have a fantastic rest of your day/night!
