The next morning Casey woke up, feeling disoriented, he couldn't feel the sun on his face. He felt Chuck's head on his chest

"Chuck?"

"Yeah, I'm here."

"What time is it?"

"Around 7AM. The sun's barely up."

Casey nodded. Chuck leaned up and kissed him, Casey smiled into the kiss.

"The doctor came in while you were asleep, you're being released around 9."

"Good, I can't wait to sleep in our bed."

Later that morning as Casey was trying to get ready to go but Chuck was getting on his nerves trying to help do everything.

"Chuck I can put my pants and shoes on." Casey growled.

"I know, but I just figured it would be easier."

"I can do it, I need to learn to have my own independence." Casey growled.

"Fine Casey, whatever." Chuck sighed walking out of the room.

Chuck waited outside while Casey attempted to change. Chuck waited ten minutes before he came back in to find Casey in a backward polo shirt and attempting to put his pants on.

"I think I need help." Casey sighed.

Chuck smiled, as he walked over to him.

"Lift your arms."

Casey did, Chuck pulled the shirt off, turned it around putting Casey's arms through it, letting him do the rest.

"Need help with the pants too?"

"Just turn them the right way round and hand them to me."

Chuck did, handing them back to him to put them on.

"Could you put, you know." Casey sighed in frustration.

"Your shoes? Yes Colonel." Chuck teased him.

Chuck put his shoes on, he grabbed Casey's hand pulling him up onto his feet.

"Come over here and sit." Chuck guided him to sit in the chair, as he sat beside him.

Casey felt the sun on his face,

"A window?"

"Yes, it's beautiful outside." Chuck whispered.

"I'm sorry, I've been an ass this morning." Casey looked toward his voice.

"It's okay." Chuck leaned in catching Casey's lips.

Casey moaned, moving a hand around Chuck pulling him closer. After a few minutes, Chuck broke the kiss for air. Leaning his forehead against Casey's.

"Love you, Casey."

"Love you too, Chuck."

About that time, the doctor came in with everything ready to go. An hour later Chuck was helping Casey into their apartment, Casey either by habit or memory went to his favorite spot on the couch.

"You want anything to eat." Chuck asked.

"No, thanks."

Chuck sighed.

"John…." Chuck said frustrated.

"What Bartowski!" John yelled at him.

Chuck sighed.

"Nothing we don't have anything, I was going to go after the mission but…"

"Oh, uh we can go if you want? I can stay in the car?"

"You stay here. I'll go, give you some time to cool down." Chuck said upset walking out the door, slamming it.

"Damn it." Casey said.

Chuck was gone for a while, Casey felt his way around the apartment, relearning everything. He went to go outside, carefully opening the door, about the same time he heard someone running off.

"Hello?"

No answer, Casey was fixing to close the door when a cry started. He carefully followed the noise, he found what he guessed was a basket with his foot. He bent down, feeling with his hands, he guessed it was a baby by the way it felt. The baby quit crying, as he was rubbing what he guessed was it's belly.

"John? What's wrong?"

"Ellie? I think someone dumped a baby here. I heard someone running as I opened the door."

He heard Ellie walk behind him, bent down beside him.

"Poor thing, let's get him to my place, call 911 and DSS."

Casey followed Ellie's voice, as she spoke assuming she went into her apartment.

"Can I do anything?"

"Take your shirt off, lay down on the couch."

"Why?"

"He's frozen, he's been outside and been in the 40's low 50's all day."

Casey did as Ellie told him, after she'd pointed him in the right direction, he jumped when Ellie laid the tiny boy back on his chest and covered both up.

"How old does he look?" Casey asked.

"Newborn, can't be no more than a few hours old. I'm going to get my med kit I keep here, right back."

Casey listened as she walked away. Ellie came back, checking the baby over as he laid on Casey's chest.

"John let him go, I'm going to lay him on his back."

She laid him carefully on his back, Casey heard a cutting noise.

"What was that?"

"The umbilical cord, whoever delivered him, didn't cut it correctly."

"He's so cold." Casey whispered, running his hand up and down his back.

"Just keep him on your chest and covered, between your body heat and blanket he will warm up. I'm going to make a warm bottle of formula and you can feed him while I go look for some clothes."

Ellie walked away but smiled, as she heard John whispering awkward reassurances to the baby.
