Chapter 2

Five minutes later he was still standing in front of the house. He couldn't delay his next steps. As dangerous as it was for Harry and Anna, if she was inside, I had to find a way in to save their lives. I didn't know if Falcone's man had another accomplice inside the house.

At that instant a young man stopped at the door with a couple of bottles of milk. Without hesitation, the detective crossed the street quickly. When he reached his height, he coat the weapon. The boy looked at him with great fear. Murdoch carried a finger to his lips to keep him quiet.

-Who is it?

-Milk... I...

In that instant some curtains moved inside the house. Protected by his situation, the mobster didn't see the detective.

-We don't need anything.

-Insist -William murmured almost unintelligible-. Insist.

-Sorry sir. It's paid for.

-Leave it in front of the door.

With his head, the detective instructed the boy to obey the order. When he did, the young man left quickly. Almost ten seconds later the door opened slowly. At that instant William observed Harry's silhouette crouching down to collect the bottles.

When he saw the policeman, his eyes opened excessively. With his head the detective asked him if the wrongdoer stood behind the door. When the boy nodded he pushed the door with all his might. The man, who had a gun in his hand, was dragged to the ground violently.

-Close the door!

Before the mobster could retrieve his gun William kicked the gun by sending it out of range. When the guy tries to join Murdoch, he's struck by a quick combination of punches directed directly at his chin.

Although he hated violence at any of his points, he quietly appreciated the wise pugilistic counsel of the Jesuits.

-How did you do that? -Harry exclaimed, exaggeratingly opening his eyes when the mobster landed on the ground-. It's been great.

In that instant the detective crouched his eyes to the height of the boy's. In his gaze Harry was able to recognize the unequivocal symptoms of rebuke. So he swallowed saliva with difficulty.

-We need to talk about your escape.

-Yes sir.

-First let's put this gentleman inside the entrance closet.

Ten minutes later, concluding a maneuver that had some additional setbacks, they entered the small kitchen. During all that time William was looking for the most correct way to address Harry. I didn't mean to scare you. Raising his voice would be wrong. He'd have to run his first watering with peace of mind. efficiency. Without one word higher than the other.
