"Hermione wait up." I turn round and smile brightly at my newfound friend, Draco Malfoy. His white, blonde hair stood out in a crowd and he jogged too catch up with me. Although we kept our friendship on a low profile he was quite a nice change of pace. Ron and harry although I loved them dearly did not offer me mentally stimulating conversation. Ron's meh attitude to learning and Harry falling to Ron's bad influence meant both had taken to a handout from Kingsley and both begun their Auror training. This left me without my best friends but had given me an opportunity to make some new friends. And One very unlikely friend. "Oh hi Draco." He smiles briefly before his face drops. "I need to know if you have a time turner?" Shock crosses my face. "I.." before I can think of a lie he swears under his breath. "Shit." He looks around and pulls me to the side of the hallway. "Look I heard in the common room. Some people know about it, no I don't know how. I think they're planning on attacking you for it. Bring him back." My eyes widen. Pausing for moment. Dragging him into this could potentially flaunt our friendship. A conversation I had yet to have with my best friends. "I don't know what your talking about Draco... I've been trying to take it easy this year." he eyes me up and down. A brief look of hurt crosses his face but as quick as it came it had gone. I had seen though and felt a pang of regret over my words. "H, I know we aren't best friends or anything I'm just the guy you want to talk to about ancient runes with but please don't go out anywhere with that thing. You know If you have one." I look around and pause for moment. "I do... trust you that is." he shakes his head. "Not like them H but the less I know the better. Course nobody really knows we still talk after our potions assignment together and it's best to keep it that way. For now." He turns to check behind him. Because Merlin forbid anyone see us in a secluded corridor not fighting. He turns to leave as we hear some students approaching. I quickly reach out stopping him. I look up at him with a knowing look. "Draco... thank you for warning me." he nods and promptly walks away and I the other way.
I sat in a cubicle in the girls bathroom holding out my Turner in front of me. The blue sand waiting to be spun. Letting out a sigh I know I can't give it back. My grades would slip, and I had to get perfect marks to get into the ministry, especially to work in the magical creature department. I cannot give any more reason for Umbridge to persuade anyone to not give me a job. I think back to my third term, Professor McGonagall told me the safest place for a time turner is on your person. Tucking the chain into my shirt and after adding a simple notice me not charm picking up my bag. On my way out I get pushed into the door by Pansy Parkinson. "Ugh honestly it stinks around here like mud." Her friends giggle as she eyes me with a fake smile. "Watch your back Granger. Don't let the door hit you when you aren't looking." Her words covered with a second meaning. Her eyes fall to my neck and I watch carefully as she annoyingly can't see past my charm. I push her hard away from me and without a word walk out of the bathroom.
Talk of The Potter wedding was the talk of the great hall that night as it had been since the event was announced. It would be unforgettable and everyone was trying to get an invite and if not a plus one to the event. We had spread a fake rumour that they was getting married at a church in Portsmouth. Only guests knew the true venue. The fields surrounding the burrow. Just so the house was out of view. Ginny wanted to lay her wedding like the potters who gave there lives for Harry unfortunately no pictures of the wedding could be found. The only thing they knew it that it was outside and yellow was their main colour theme.
A knife clattering on the table jumped me back to my surroundings. Sat around the Gryffindor table everyone tucking into their dinners. "Hermione how's Ginny? Excited I bet." I smile over at lavender brown. Poor thing had been sending her owl to Ron for weeks trying to get an invite to the event. She even tried flirting with Neville who had already agreed to take Luna, who had of course gotten her own invite. Unfortunately I had overheard her telling the girls in our year that 'won won should be sending her invite any day now.' I had been quite angry at the girl and So soon after me and Ron breaking up. "Oh she's over joyed. I think Harry is much more nervous than she is." I laugh. "Cold feet?" She smirks jokingly. I laugh at her statement "I don't think Harry has ever had second thoughts when it comes to Ginny." I check the time. "I best get off too bed. So much to do tomorrow." I gather my stuff and bid my housemates a goodnight. I wave at them as I leave the hall.
The next morning I run down the stairs. i make it too the staircase and it annoyingly shifts. I let out a huff of frustration. "M." I look back up the stairs and Draco stood there. "You're leaving?" I nod. "Harry's wedding is today.. I've got loads to do." He nods. "What we spoke about. Is it safe?" I shake my head. "I won't be alone." He clenches his fists. "That's not the point you'll put yourself in danger! it's not safe!" He reaches out for my wrist. "Draco let go!" his steel eyes burning with fury. "Draco people are looking. Please." He snaps out of his anger and backs off. "You're going to get yourself killing if you leave." He hisses. I watch him carefully. The stair case shifts and clicks back to my original path. "Careful Draco your acting like you care." I mock a scowl at him and smile quickly and walk off.
A few hours later.
As the dark set in a voice called out. "Hermione. Everything is predetermined. You can not save them. You cannot change anything."
