In Academy City there exists a certain building with no windows or doors. In this building, there is a single individual floating upside down in a cylinder full of an unknown liquid was gazing upon several monitors viewing situations across Academy City.
Aleister Crowley, Superintendent of Academy City, moved his eyes slightly to the second monitor. The person who granted and funded the enrollment of Accelerator in the Advanced Nurturing High School him to attend school however he did this with no genuine intentions
There was an ulterior motive but it wasn't for the psychological analysis on the esper on outside territory but a showcase to the outside of what Academy City will do due to the incidents with the outside and the high probability of conflict such as a war breaking with the outside.
"Ugh... the hell am I doing this for..." The number one complained sitting down as his pick-up has arrived after waiting over a week.
"Alright take care and be careful," Yomikawa told the boy who was now leaving.
"Are you sure about this I mean you didn't give us a lot of details" Yoshikawa asks suspiciously?
"Take care says Misaka as Misaka waved goodbye to the leaving boy hoping he would come back home with treats," Last Order said as he hugged Accelerator's leg.
"Are you ready Accelerator" His pick-up turns out to be Oyafune Monaka.
"About time let's go," Accelerator said as he got up and grabbed his crutch to walk.
"Oh, Oyafune now that it's you I feel much more at ease say what job are you giving Accelerator," Yomikawa asked.
"Oh hasn't he told you he is goin to" Accelerator cut her off.
"let's go" The boy urged as she doesn't want to tell them and grabbed her hand.
"My aren't you excited, are you embarrassed that you gonna be attending high school." Oyafune annoyed which made Accelerator annoyed to the bone.
"What really finally you know I was gonna have you enroll in that certain school but this works better" Yomikawa cheered.
"I couldn't believe this you going to school of your own free will who are you and what have you done with the real Accelerator." Yoshikawa also cheered.
"Misaka is very happy for you says Misaka as she is very happy he won't be a Neet anymore". Last Order rejoiced as he hugged Accelerator's leg even tighter.
"What's the point of hope" Accelerator again asked internally.
"Alright let's go don't worry I'll text everything that happens there!," Accelerator spat as he doesn't want to deal with the three.
"I won't be gone for too long they'll allow visits." Accelerator said before closing the door.
"He should be more honest" Yoshikawa comments.
"Misaka really hopes he will fit in says Misaka as she concerned for the boy's well being" Last Order show concern.
"Knowing him he's probably gonna be very anti-social or a quiet delinquent" Yomikawa commented with worry.
In the car Oyafune sitting next to the liason driving from last time, and the relaxed Accelerator is having a conversation.
"I never really thought you would agree to this kind of thing Accelerator," Oyafune asked the white-haired boy relaxing at the back of the car.
"Well there's the payment and I want to experience what it's like to be treated like a normal person, No one challenging, no special treatment, no harassment, and much more."
"Well let me repeat the rules and what's gonna happen over you while you at that school Accelerator" The liason joined in.
"1. Follow the School Rules. are not allowed to use your powers you will be given a choker that takes longer to turn on just in case if fighting is necessary like if Dark Side attempts to seize the opportunity but I highly doubt it but just in case.3. You will be monitored at all times mostly on social interactions due to this being a psychological study. are free to do what you wish at the School as long you don't cause too much trouble and you pass well knowing your status passing won't be much of a problem you are free to participate or not participate in the school activities. are not allowed to wander too far outside you we will be staying in a hotel near the school, you a free to roam around but not too far. Lastly the most important due to the tensions with other relations and for the sake of the study you are not to reveal that you're from Academy City if word got well it will depend on how we will deal with that just don't reveal. The rest are just standard rules you probably know about." The liason explained.
"Hey, are you listening Accelerator?"
"Yeah, I hear ya alright will that be all I am going to sleep I hope it's gonna be actually peaceful here". Accelerator replied as he took another nap a little excited for it will be more peaceful than Academy City but still with his guard up knowing those bastards from the Dark Side are opportunistic scumbags.
They arrived at his destination the three got out and got out the two entered a building. Oyafune explained they will be taking a helicopter. Accelerator then took another nap until the helicopter arrived. After the helicopter flight another road trip which Accelerator also slept they arrived at the hotel where they would be staying for the night. They were then introduced to the psychologists who will be on the study, Accelerator being Accelerator rudely dismissed them off and threatened them if they do anything funny. The psychologist was unfazed with Accelerator knowing his background which surprised Accelerator but found it convenient for him.
Accelerator got to his temporary room to sleep in and continued to think about everything. Why is he doing this to go all out to protect the kid/brat known as Last Order? Redemption, a scapegoat, a disguise or is it, He then fell asleep before he concluded an answer.
This girl who he just saved again from another mad scientist who planned to use him for their ulterior motives. Accelerator went through hell and back to save her, throwing a building into another building, slaughtering soldiers who tried to stop him, Crashing to a building, almost getting killed by that damned monster all for that girl Last Order.
After some time passed Oyafune and Accelerator are sitting at the Office of the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School. The two are meeting the School's Chairman Sakayangi.
"A pleasure to meet you Mr. Accelerator." The chairman greeted him as Accelerator observed him in turn trying to find hints of ulterior motives or darkness.
"Yeah so why are we here," the white-haired boy asked rudely dismissing the chairman.
"Nothing just a talk with the chairman an interview," Oyafune answered.
"Yes, it's not every day we get to have an esper the number at that to enroll " Sakayanagi commented.
"Let me again ask both of you are still on board with this let me remind you I am no ordinary students my background is enough, My head is all messed up and I have killed people young and old" Accelerator warned them.
"We understand and we believe you can still change" Sakayangi answered with a calm smile.
"Tchhh .. fine" Accelerator responds and was given a choice to choose which class he wants to go with.
"Wait don't I have to take an exam or something?" Accelerator asked before looking at the choices.
"Well your an exception and with some strings pulled the higher-ups from both this school and Academy City you are no longer required to take an exam given your background" Sakayangi answered the boy which he responded with a nod and continued to look at the class choices.
Class A considered being the highest ranking among the freshman students of the school. It is the one that most first-year students aim to reach after advancing further in their studies.
Class B the second-highest ranking among the freshman students of the school.
Class C the third-highest ranking among the freshman students of the school.
Class D the lowest ranking among the freshman students of the school.
"So what do you think Accelerator," Sakayangi asked
"Yeah yeah let me think" The boy responds.
Class A the highest rank, he thought about it and concluded it will be very like the Level 5 competitive and too much work, so pass on that, Class D and Class C are the lowest so if I ended up there I probably would have ended up carrying the whole class and be surrounded with a bunch of B not too high and not too low.
"Yeah Class B is for me it's less pain in the ass I don't give a damn about points or being on top I just want some time off Academy City." Accelerator made the decision.
"Very well also I would announce that there would be someone from Academy City attending but it will be classified as part of the study, Only a specific few me included will know the truth, Not even the staff and teachers will know your from Academy City." Sakayangi briefed the boy.
"Also here will be your false file you will be which half-truth" Oyafune joined and gave Accelerator the file. Accelerator received the paper and glanced at it he read that his fake name will be Asao Asahiko. Along with his file is his fake backstory spent his childhood in an isolated village spent time homeschooled close to his real story.
"The notes and comments will be filled once you attend the school," Sakayanagi added.
"Alright, that's all?" Accelerator asked now bored and wanting to go home as he stood up to grab his crutch.
"Yes that will be all don't you wanna roam around and check out the facilities?" Sakayangi asked as Accelerator turned around.
"No thanks too much work," Accelerator said as he waved around as he is followed by Oyafune.
"Thank you for your time Mr. Sakayangi" Oyafune bowed then followed Accelerator.
"Alright Welcome Accelerator alias Asao Asahiko to the Advanced Nurturing High School we hope you enjoy your stay," Sakayanagi said as the two were about to leave the room.
The two continued to walk to their vehicle.
"So what do you think Accelerator the school is it to your liking?" Oyafune asked.
"Not much as long I get my payment and peace I won't complain." The boy answered.
Accelerator is now resting in his room on the phone with Yomikawa telling her everything that has happened and every detail.
"I am really glad you agreed to this, that was nice of Oyafune to that I mean there are Academy City schools but I highly doubt you would gain some peace so it may be better for you there,"
"Yeah don't get your hopes up"
"You really go all out for Last Order don't you?"
"Tcchh no it's not that or anything I just want some peace and quiet after all and I could get an upgrade so all those idiots who want to go against me would rethink their whole pathetic lives"
"Whatever tsundere"
"Alright let me tell Oyafune to cancel one of the free booze you're supposed to get as one of the payment"
"WAIT WHAT THER" Accelerator ended the leaving Yomikawa hanging after making a joke for making fun of him as he prepared to bed.
Well sleeping early is out of the option since he slept most of the day on the way there except for the helicopter flight since it was a rare experience. The boy decided to play some video games before bed while setting up the game system he received another phone call he answered instead of expecting Yomikawa or Yoshikawa it turned out to be Last Order.
"Hai how are you Misaka asks as says Misaka checking on you with pure interest," Last Order asked on the phone cheerfully.
"I am fine my school starts the day after tomorrow."
"Well, I hope you have a good time and don't start trouble MIsaka says as Misaka reminds the boy knowing his personality and inability to get along with others".
"Don't worry about it I'll probably be just fine, it's just some high school who thinks they have something original what's the worse that could happen a gang war made by some kids just wanting to look cool."
"Ehhhh at well least Misaka is very happy for you says Misaka sounding like a proud parent"
The two continued to talk until it was Last Order's bedtime the phone call ended with Yoshikawa commenting on how Accelerator has changed to which Accelerator denied. Now all by himself in his room and one day before school.
Accelerator did the most logical thing in this situation for the night and tomorrow. He played video games and read manga knowing one's formal education does not fully define one's future and doesn't care about first impressions.
The number one esper in Academy City, one of the seven Level 5 in the entire population of the city who hold tremendous amounts of supernatural power, one who can destroy armies, create artificial disasters, a living superweapon that can destroy the likes of America's military infrastructure in a day if he wanted to. A person so powerful countries would wet their pants on getting their hands on is attending high school what would the rest of the Level 5 think the rest would probably laugh and mock him especially the second-ranked. Good thing a specific few only knows about this and even if someone stupid decides to share no one would believe it.
He can't help but feel a little excited maybe getting to live a normal life he never had only if he didn't have the power and status he never asked for but of course he can't get too excited for everything reflects darkness, everything has a dark side. Just like Academy City normal schools and universities, the education system is made for profit, not true education it may sound like a conspiracy to some but it holds true as most state-run school systems especially the West were modeled off the factory style of education first introduced in Prussia in the early 1700s and not much as changed. , children are told this is the only way to succeed in life just like in Academy City being an esper the higher the level the higher the lifestyle. This pressures student into so many horrible things just like in Academy City children who are deemed rejects and failures either, join gangs, indulge in harmful addictions, and many more what makes Academy City really special is that those lower and higher level espers with consent or nor who want a higher lifestyle wallow into the dark side.
The next day after a normal routine a chat with Oyafune and the group in charge of the study about more rules and details, Accelerator was getting ready for his first day in an advanced but normal high school, he modified his collar electrode to make it look like a retro music player he could just keep it at home since there is no use for his powers but it was for safety and he doesn't fully trust anyone to safely keep it. Night came and Accelerator spent his time watching TV searching for anything that can catch his interest.
The next day Accelerator woke up early to prepare for his first day in the Advanced Nurturing High School, After fixing himself and proceeded to go to breakfast prepared by the people who will be monitoring him in the school,
"Finally something not out of the rice cooker," He said out loud and proceeded to eat his breakfasts. A triple-layer pancake with blueberries on top and butter.
"Are you ready for your first-day Accelerator starting today you be staying at the school dormitory" a psychologist whose name Accelerator didn't bother to remembe,r asked him.
"Yeah, it's not a big deal" The boy answered while chewing his pancakes followed by a drink of water. After breakfast, he got up and took a shower, wore his school uniform, and prepared himself.
"Oh yeah, Oyafune will drive you and drop you off at the bus station." One of the researchers said while Accelerator was fixing himself which he responds with a nod and decided to watch some TV to wait.
"Are you ready Accelerator" Oyafune arrived at the room accompanied by two bodyguards.
"Yeah, let's go." Accelerator responded followed by turning the TV off, grabbed his crutch, and prepared himself as he follows Oyafune to the vehicle.
As the vehicle starts to go to the road, Accelerator then took a nap at the back of the car. They arrived at their destination, he was then woken up by one of Oyafune's bodyguards. As Accelerator got out he made a request to Oyafune.
"Please don't let anyone know about his"
"Sorry but that is out of my control so I can't make any promises"
"Oh well, luckily no one I know especially that hero knows about this." He said as he waved goodbye to Oyafune and proceeded to wait for the bus.
" PwfaHahahahahhah What I can't believe it what a lucky bastard is he following in Kami's footsteps." a boy in blonde hair and is always seen with sunglasses and a gold chain around his neck is laughing his heart off.
"I know right like what is he thinking?" A boy in neatly combed dark-brown hair and is dressed in a very orderly fashion responded to the blonde.
"What do you think about this you've been pretty calm" The boy with dark-brown hair turned to the girl.
"Well of course I am different from all of you." The girl with long dark red hair tied into two low ponytails. wearing an open dark blue coat over her shoulders like a cape and a pleated skirt. Also, unusually wearing bandages to cover her breasts instead of wearing a crop top responds.
"But HOW DARE HE AFTER I HELPED HIM HE COULD HAVE INVITED ME SO MANY BOYS I COULD POSSIBLY MEET !" the redhead exclaimed
The trio then continued with their chat mixed with arguments, curses, making fun of Accelerator's choice.
"Nya Nya Nya Nya," the blonde said making fun of the situation. "I wonder could we visit our "friend" ".
