Draco (POV)

Draco Malfoy wanted a do over! She had told him, from the time they began courting until she walked out the door, that she loved him. If she truly loved him, she wouldn't have walked out on him and their infant son. She definitely wouldn't have taken up with that damned McKay! Now he was facing a future of trying to run a business and raise a son alone.

Another new dad, another unexpected circumstance. A look at Draco's situation.

Draco Malfoy sat there in the Great Hall with his parents. Potter had won. He could see him being hugged by his friends and their families. The Aurors were starting to round up all the Death Eaters who weren't quick enough to escape to parts unknown. He watched as the Weasel and Granger joined the other redheads around a fallen body. One of the twins, he thought he'd heard someone whisper.

He knew he was headed to Azkaban. He'd been wanted ever since sixth year. The only reason he'd not been apprehended already was because the Dark Lord had taken control of the Ministry. Now there was no avoiding it. He'd finally get what was coming to him. He tried to hold his chin up high and face it as proudly as his parents were. He didn't think he pulled it off as well as they did.

"Draco?" he heard hesitantly from behind him. He turned around and Astoria Greengrass stood there, smiling tentatively at him. He returned her smile. She was one of the few girls who had been friends with him without fawning all over him.

"Are you ok, Draco?" She asked. He shook his head.

"I am right now. But I won't be soon. I'll be in Azkaban." He said softly.

"No! They can't send you there! You're just a kid! They can't do that!" She cried softly.

"Yes. They can. My uncle Rabastan was only nineteen when they sent him there. If they sent him there, they'll send me there." He told her.

"But you're sacred twenty-eight!" Astoria was genuinely upset about this.

"So was he, Stori. So was he." Draco reminded her.

The Aurors came over and handcuffed them, leading them out of the castle. They were taken to the Apparation Zone and transported to the Ministry of Magic. There they were put into holding cells until they could be questioned. Draco watched as his parents were put into separate cells.

Astoria walked over to Harry Potter. She knew if anyone could help Draco and his parents right now, it would be the Chosen One. The question was, WOULD he help them? He and his friends had been in a fierce feud with Draco for years. She could see how it had easily been started. Draco handed out insults as easily as he did compliments. But maybe, just maybe, Potter could see his way to helping Draco at least, if not his parents.

"Harry? Harry Potter? May I speak to you a moment?" Astoria stood behind him. He turned and looked at her. At first he frowned until he noticed how upset she looked.

"Astoria Greengrass, right? What did you need to say?" Harry asked, expecting a scathing attack. She was a Slytherin, after all.

"Thank you. I'm glad you won. I hope you remember that some of Slytherin house was in the battle, on your side. Please don't make those few suffer. They had no control of the rest of our house." she told him.

"You're talking about Professors Slughorn, Snape, Draco and his mother, aren't you? Don't worry. I've already spoke to Slughorn. I've told Shacklebolt and McGonagall about Professor Snape. Draco's mother lied to Voldemort to get into the castle. I saw her and Lucius running around, looking for Draco. They weren't fighting at all." Harry told her. "Shacklebolt has already been named interim Minister until there's an election. I'm going to speak to him on behalf of the Malfoys. I'm not going to swear he'll be able to help Lucius but I think I can get him to help Narcissa and Draco.

Astoria sighed with relief. Harry had already planned on helping Draco. That was good. It meant he might hold a grudge but he would still help a firmer classmate. That meant her own plans might still go through.

Later that day, the Aurors came back. They opened the doors to his cell and his mother's cell. "What about my father?" he asked.

"We were given no orders about him. We were told to bring you and your mother to the Minister's office." the Aurors told him. As they passed his father's cell, he reached through and grabbed Draco's arm.

"Son. Take care of your mother." Lucius told him. Draco stared at him blankly. Lucius shook his arm. "Draco! Listen to me! I won't escape going back to Azkaban. Promise me, son. Promise me that you'll take care of your mother for me. Promise me, Draco!"

"I promise, father, I promise. I'll take care of mother for you. For as long as you need me to. I'll take care of her. I promise." He shook h's father's hand. Lucius and Narcissa were allowed a moment of privacy. Then they were separated. Draco and Narcissa went to the office of the Minister, Kingsley Shacklebolt.

"Draco. Narcissa. How are you doing? Please. Sit. We have something to tell you." Shacklebolt said, gesturing at two chairs in front of his desk. Off to the side stood the Trio, Potter, Granger and the Weasel. Draco felt his chest tighten at the sight of Granger in the Weasel's arms.

"I have decided to simply put you and your mother under house arrest and assign you both five years of community service. I'm afraid your father will have to be tried and more than likely serve time in Azkaban. My hands are tied and that's as much as I can authorize on my own standing. If not for the testimony of Potter, Granger and Weasley, both of you would still be in cells, awaiting your own trials. I hope you realize how much you owe them." he told them.

"We are very appreciative of the support from the Trio. Mr. Potter. Mr. Weasley. Miss Granger. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you. If there is anything we can ever do for you, just let us know." Narcissa said graciously. Draco smiled tightly at them. Old habits died hard and he had to bite his lip to keep from mocking them. He and his mother were escorted out of the office and to their home. There the Aurors put a tracker around both their ankles and told them they were allowed to go to and from Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade while Draco was still in school. Other than that, they were forbidden to travel anywhere else. They would each get a weekly visit with Lucius until he went to Azkaban. Then it would be a visit every two weeks.

Draco had already decided that he would return to school as soon as Hogwarts was rebuilt. He volunteered to help rebuild as part of his community service. The Trio was impressed with his willingness to help. Draco still felt that tightening of his chest every time he saw Granger and the Weasel holding hands, hugging or kissing. He never thought too much of it at that time. He and Astoria Greengrass were soon courting. They married soon after she graduated. She wanted to start a family immediately. He wanted to hold off until he'd served his community service. She grudgingly agreed to wait. He never gave any thought as to WHY she wanted to start a family so soon.

Soon after he finally finished his sentence, she announced that she wanted a baby. She didn't want to wait any longer. He was still unsure if he even wanted kids but he reluctantly agreed. They had been in separate bedrooms since shortly after their marriage. It was a Malfoy tradition. It gave them both their own privacy from each other. He wasn't sure how she'd spent her alone time but he'd spent his trying to figure out how to clean up the Malfoy name. He'd also been trying to shore up the family business. It had practically fallen apart after his father was imprisoned. He'd been hard pressed to be a student and a business tycoon at the same time.

Astoria announced a month later she was pregnant. He was surprised that it hadn't taken that long. They'd shared a room for three straight weeks during what she'd called her 'fertile time.' Obviously it had worked. He was pleased that he had a future heir on the way. Now he could concentrate on the business again. She mentioned one day that Granger and Weasley had one child and another on the way. Draco once again felt that unfamiliar tightening in his chest. He'd not thought od those two or Potter in years. He ignored the feeling again.

He was so wrapped up in his business he didn't notice when Astoria suddenly began showing an enthusiasm for Quidditch. She wanted to go to all the Appleby Arrows games. He noticed she started mentioning one player in particular though. Chaser Adrian McKay. An American who had just been offered a spot as part of an exchange with the International Quidditch League. He began cutting back on his working hours in order to go to doctors visits with her now. He was there the day they saw their son in the magical version of an ultrasound. From then on, he was hooked. That child, that little boy, that was his child, his son!

He started planning to decorate a nursery that day. His mother was thrilled at the thought of a grandson. She eagerly agreed to help him with the nursery. Strangely enough, Astoria now had no interest in the child she'd been so insistent on. As the months wore on, he looked forward to being a father. She began complaining about stretch marks and morning sickness. She was confined to her bed for the last few months and was bitter about being unable to go to Quidditch matches with her friends.

Finally the big day arrived. She was flatly insistent that she wouldn't go through labor. They scheduled her for a cesarean section. They arrived at the hospital and got her checked into her room. That evening they did the operation. She was supposed to stay there a week before she went home. Three hours after the surgery, she was up and easing around. Three days later, she had a visitor. It was Adrian McKay. He brought flowers and admired her son. Then he told her he hoped to see her at the games again son. Four days later, just an hour before Draco got there, Astoria announced to Narcissa that she and Draco were getting a divorce. Then she walked out, leaving her gobsmacked mother in law and infant son behind.

Draco arrived as a code blue was being called. His heart jumped into his throat. 'His son! Had something happened to his son?' He rushed up the stairs and ran to Stori's room. There he found his mother in tears, holding little Scorpius. He was stunned as she told him what Astoria had done. That's when he remembered their marriage contract. At the time, Malfoy Industries Inc had been on the verge of bankruptcy and he hadn't even thought to alter the agreement. They had signed a contract that gave Astoria half of his fortune in return for one son, with the option of divorce thrown in for good measure. 'Damnit, how could she do this? He could understand her leaving HIM after all the times he'd ignored her for work. But how on earth could she stand to walk out on her son, her own baby?' Two days later, Astoria added insult to injury by announcing to the world that she and Adrian McKay would be marrying as soon as her divorce from Draco Malfoy was finalized. Not only had she abandoned her own child but she'd taken HIM to the cleaners in the divorce settlement. Draco wondered if it was too late for a do-over!
