Later, the bat's clothes were washed and dried and Fidget and the Flavershams spent the night at Basil's after their ride one Toby. Fidget passed out on the rug, exhausted from his ordeal.
"What happened to the poor thing?" Mrs. Judson asked with concern.
"A lot, actually," Basil replied.
"What do you mean a lot?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"And what would that be?"
"Ratigan ate him."
Mrs. Judson gasped in surprise. "How did he get out?"
"Long story," Basil said, "But now I'm going to bring Fidget to bed."
"No, you're not!" Mrs. Judson chided him as if he were a child, "You're going to explain this nonsense right now!"
"It's not nonsense!" Basil insisted and to Dawson, he said, "Dawson could you bring Fidget to bed? Because I'll have to stay here to discuss the matter with Mrs. Judson."
"What he said was true, Mrs. Judson," Dawson said as he carried a sleeping Fidget in his arms.
"Ha! See? I told you you wouldn't believe me, but did you listen? NO!" Basil said triumphantly.
"Well, I'm not finished yet," Mrs. Judson said with her hands on her hips.
Basil sighed, knowing he had to be straight with the housekeeper. "Alright, Fidget was nowhere in Ratigan's lair. I demanded to know what Ratigan had done to him and he rubbed his belly until Fidget pounded inside of his stomach, so Ratigan could let him out. When Fidget came out, he was covered in stomach acids and he needed a bath."
Mrs. Judson was now too tired to argue. "Alright. We're all exhausted. You can go to bed now."
"Thank you," Basil said as everyone made their way to their bedrooms, while Fidget slept next to Olivia.
…
That night, Ratigan, who was in his cell, had a nightmare about Fidget eating him. In his nightmare, Fidget grew bigger. The bat was so big he picked him up by the cape, put him in his mouth, and swallowed him whole.
"Take that for trying to eat me, sewer rat!" Fidget cackled.
"Let me out, you pest!" Ratigan snapped, "This time, I will kill you! It's icky in here!"
"I'm afraid it's a little late for that," Fidget said with a devious smirk.
Just as his ex-henchman said this, Ratigan started to dissolve very quickly until he was no more.
Ratigan woke up, gasping in horror. "Whew! It was just a dream," Ratigan said, relieved his nightmare was over. "I'll have my revenge!"
"No, you won't!" one police mouse said.
…
The next day, Fidget felt very much relieved that Ratigan could no longer eat him or anyone for that matter. Thus, Fidget's ordeal gave him an appetite, so he ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner with his friends, who were like family to him.
This may be the last chapter until further notice.
