Walking out of the directors office, I took a deep breath. I was not expecting that in any way shape or form but I was relieved to know that I am still working at NCIS. I had the case file in my hand and an unreadable expression on my face. I needed a moment to clear my head. I secured the file in my desk drawer and locked it and I went for a stroll around the Navy Yard. I bought a coffee from the little coffee stand and sat on the wooden bench where we often sit when we need to clear our minds.
*FLASHBACK*
"You want me to catch him and arrest him?" I asked.
"Not exactly."
"So what do you want me to do?" I was confused.
"I need you to seduce his daughter and whenever you meet her father, I need you to report back to me." She said. I think she was unsure about whether I would say yes or no.
I don't think that she knew me well enough. It all depended on her looks.
"You got a photo?" I asked.
She pointed the remote for the TV and pressed a button and an Israeli drivers license appeared on the screen. I was starstruck. She had curly dark brown hair, her olive skin was beautiful, soft and luscious, she had beautiful brown eyes. So like the bitter swill that Gibbs likes to drink in the morning. But unlike Gibbs' coffee, they were sweet but yet, they looked fierce. A glare would be intense enough to see through to the soul. Her sweet smile topped it all off. It stood out. So like a shiny, red cherry on the top of a cake. Her name is Ziva. I loved that name. It sounded fierce and strong yet beautiful and glamorous. I was sold.
"Where do I sign up?" I asked rather unprofessionally.
"You don't. I just need to know if you're up to it or not."
"Oh yeah." I laughed. But when I thought about it, the mission wasn't as easy as I thought. I would have to seduce a woman to get close to her father and once her father was caught, I had to break her heart and say I wasn't who I said I was. I didn't think it through before I said yes. But I already agreed and I couldn't take it back.
"Great." She smiled. "You meet her tomorrow. She's in D.C she booked for a seat at the fine dining restaurant two blocks down from here. She's going alone."
'That's depressing' I thought.
"Ok. So who am I?" I was curious about what my alias-to-be was going to be.
"You're not going to have an alias."
"Excuse me?"I wasn't sure I heard right.
"You are going as Anthony DiNozzo. An NCIS Senior field Agent."
"So… I'm going as myself?" I needed clarification.
"Yes. I know it sounds risky but it will work best if you stay as yourself. A random cop / womaniser trying to find a woman to love."
"Ok… Alright…" I laughed nervously.
"Something wrong?" Jenny could clearly see my hesitation.
"Uh. No. I'm good. But do you mind if I step out for a bit?"
"Sure."
*End of flashback*
Going through that memory was intense. So intense that my coffee was all spilled at my feet. I grumbled frustratedly and picked up the cup with my thumb and index and threw it in the trash.
When I went back to the bullpen, Gibbs was at his desk. At his desk, he was bashing and cursing at his cellphone. McGee was staring sympathetically at the phone. Gibbs probably saw my bags on the floor because he didn't scold me for being late. But he could scense something was wrong and I could feel him staring at me questionably. 'He knows doesn't he? He's Gibbs. He knows everything.'
