Momonga was trying out the Mirror of Remote Viewing, with Sebas Tian helping him as well.
"Thank you Sebas. Sorry for making you do this with me."
Sebas eyes slightly widen. "What are you saying? Staying beside my master and following his orders, that is the butler which Lord Touch Me created and my reason for existence, Momonga-sama."
He's not wrong there.
"There is no need to thank or apologize to me… although, it is true that this process took quite some time. Momonga-sama, would you like to take a break?"
"No, there is no need for that. Undead like myself is not affected by negative statuses like fatigue. If you're tired, you may go and rest."
"Thank you for your kindness, but it would be unthinkable for a butler to rest while his master worked. With the aid of magic items, I am not affected by fatigue either. Please allow me to stay by your side until the end, Momonga-sama."
"Now then, let's search for areas where there might be people."
A few moments later. He found a village, it was located roughly ten kilometers south of Nazarick. There was a forest nearby, and wheat fields surrounded a settlement. It appeared to be a rustic farming village. By the looks of things, the village itself was not very developed.
"...Are they holding a festival?" He asked. Sebas walked closer and looked at the screen.
"No, that is not a festival."
As Momonga zoomed in on the village, he saw many cavalry and infantryman killing the villagers mercilessly.
There are some weird ones. If I had seen all this in the real world, I would have fainted. I think I have become much stronger mentally and physically.
But they do not look like robbers. Looking at their clothes, it looks like they are soldiers of any state.
The human of this world is just like the human of my real world. Ainz was angry but he quietly calmed down.
"Momonga-sama, what do we need to do?"
What do we do! Should I help them? But if I do nothing, this world will be like my real world. As such, I got a chance. I have to use it.
"Sebas put Nazarick on maximum alert. I am going to this village. Raise the security level of Nazarick to the maximum."
"Yes." He bowed.
"Also tell Albedo to join me, fully armed. However, I forbid her to bring Ginnungagap. After that, prepare support units. Something might happen which results in our inability to retreat. Therefore the units sent to the village should be adept at stealth. or have the ability to go invisible. "
"Understood." He bowed as he left the room, presumably to relay the orders given.
Momonga, with an exuberant gesture, summoned the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown and used Gate to transfer him to the village's border.
The two sisters were afraid of death. Enri tried to protect her, little sister Nemu, by hugging her close. As Enri closed her eyes, preparing for their death. She wondered why it took so long, she slowly opened her eyes and saw the knights were looking behind her, shocked.
"What the hell?!"
"What!?" the knight that was about to kill Enri, walked back from shock.
She slowly looks behind and saw a purple oval portal. The portal felt dark... A robed figure came out, a skull from its hood, and a strange golden staff holding on its left hand, with red dim glowing inside the skull. It raised its free arm and spoke:
"{Grasp Heart}" A transparent heart appeared on its hand. Momonga squeezed it and transparent blood came out of it, and one of the knights fell.
'I guess I cant feel both physically and mentally. So I've stopped being human huh?' Momonga thought coldly.
"M-monsters!" The other soldier screamed in extreme fear as he pointed his sword at him... And then he tried to escape.
"You can attack weak and helpless people, but you don't dare to fight someone stronger than yourself," Momonga said
"Chain Dragon Lightning,"
As soon as the attack hit the soldier's body, he turned to dust.
"Huh! so weak,"
"Only a 7 tier spell has turned it into dust particles, "Momonga said.
Momonga then pointed at one of the corpses, "Create Middle Tier Undead, Death Knight."
A purple cloud of miasma appeared and entered the corpse's body. Within a second, it completely took over the corpse, causing it to twitch violently as it stood to its feet. Which was different from YGGDRASIL. Without considering the mass of the body, it changed into the usual, towering Death Knight from YGGDRASIL.
"Death Knight. Kill all the soldiers that are attacking the village." Momonga pointed at the other corpse as a reference.
The Death Knight let loose a mighty roar filled with bloodlust and murderous intent before it sprinted in the direction of the village, leaving its summoner behind unguarded. Momonga exchanged a look at that, the slight changes glaringly obvious but he said nothing out loud.
He soon turned his attention to the two girls still quivering on the ground, hugging one another as if their lives depended on it. Before either of he could say anything, Albedo came out of the gate, and the gate closed as soon as she comes.
"I apologize for the delay. The preparations took time." Albedo apologized. Albedo wore a tight black full body armor with purple bands around her arms and legs, which matched her curves and showed her two horns but still covered them so they weren't sticking out of the helmet. She had a long, black bardiche in her hands, it was dark as night and the blade had a glossy shone to it. From the back, you couldn't see the two black wings that sprouted from her lower back as they were covered in armor.
"Not at all. Your timing is perfect, Albedo."Momonga said.
"Thank you very much. And so... What would you like me to do with these lower life forms?"
Uwaa. Harsh.
"For now, the ones wearing that armor are our enemy,"
"Understood."
Momonga turned to the girls and pulled out a red potion from his robe, "It looks like you're injured. Drink this."
"Blood!"
"I-I'll drink it!" The older girl with braided blonde hair stuttered, eyes fearful as she reached for the potion.
"Nee-chan! No!" The younger girl with chestnut brown pigtails cried out in denial and grabbed her older sister's wrist to physically stop the older of the two.
"Be quiet, Nemu!"
"But-!"
"Just stay still!"
"Please, stop!"
They soon started to quarrel about reluctantly drinking the potion or not, making the scene appear as if a gangster was coercing two innocent little girls into taking illicit drugs.
Momonga started to explain to the little girl.
"This is a healing potion that will heal your sister of all her wounds..."
With that, he began to pour the potion down the girl's mouth. A green light seemed to envelop her body, and the wound on her back instantly closed up. She regained her blood and was able to move on her own again.
"Do you know what magic is?"
"Y-yes, I have a friend that comes by the village to collect herbs and he can use magic." the older girl replied.
"Very well, then I am a magic caster, "Momonga said.
Momonga pointed to the girls sitting down and cast two more spells.
"[Wall of Protection from Arrows]. [Anti-Life Cocoon]"
"This should keep you safe. If you leave the barrier, you won't be able to come back inside... and use this to protect yourselves."
He pulled out two horns with a green band wrapped around them.
"Blow on it to summon a group of goblins that you can command"
Momonga and Albedo turned and were about to leave when the young girl asked "W-who are you m-mister?"
Pausing to think for a while, he then turned back to the girls and replied.
"...I am Ainz Ooal Gown!"
Scene change:
As they arrived at the village, with a Death Knight enjoying its slaughter and dead bodies around the area. Ainz ordered the knight to stop and thus it stopped.
Everyone looked up, hearing the source of the voice coming at the sky, they saw 2 figures floating in the air.
"Death Knight. That will be all for now."
His words seemed strangely incongruous with the surroundings like he was buying something at a store. But to Ainz, this situation was as casual as going shopping.
He slowly descended to the ground, accompanied by Albedo .
"Nice to meet you all. My name is Ainz Ooal Gown."
Then he looked at the surviving soldiers. "I beg your life and go and tell your masters to get ready. I will soon invade your kingdom. I will make all your kingdom a graveyard. Go and prepare for war!" His two eyes lit up
Everyone there, except Albedo, panicked
All the soldiers ran away from there.
Ainz shifted his gaze upon the villagers crowded in the center. All of them had one thing in common.
Fear
Oh no! UNDEAD!
was all that ran through their minds. Even when they were all just saved by him, it didn't ease their fears.
"I saw this village under attack so I decided to save you. You are under my protection from today, there is no need to be afraid."
Why are they so tense? Do they not trust me?
"If I had any intention of harming you, I wouldn't be here to save you."
"..."
The villagers looked at each other and thought for a while. Then a man came up from among them.
"Ah, Hello Ainz-sama, I am the village chief, and thank you for saving us." he began to bow down to their savior.
"How can we help you?"
"We don't know much about this world. So if you give us some information about this world it would be very helpful. There is a place we could talk further about that?"
"Yes, of course, we could head to my house-"
Raising his hand, Ainz interjected "That would work perfectly, but before that, you can instruct your neighbors first. There are still things I must do first."
The village chief obeyed and went to talk with the other villagers, giving them instructions on how to rebuild their lives.
Scene change: Village Chief's House
The Chief spoke first.
"Ainz-sama, what would you like to know first?"
"Well, for starters, how about currency?" As put his hand in his robe making it appear as if he was reaching for something, but in reality, he was just discreetly accessing his inventory. He pulled out a piece of gold, placing it onto the table, and slid it across with one hand
"... Does this coin look familiar to you?"
The chief took the coin and analyzed both sides of it. It had designs of a unique tree on one side and a lady on the other. But it was foreign to him.
"A-Ainz-sama, I haven't seen any of these coins in my life."
"Is that so ... what a shame. Can you tell me about the currency you use?"
From there, the Chief began to explain the different types of coins used and their values each. Starting from the lowest valued ones, was the copper coins. They were used throughout the peasant class and frequently in the middle class. Peasants barely made any earnings and most of them had never owned anything more in their entire lives.
The second coin was the silver one. These were valued more than the coppers and commonly used in the middle and upper classes of society.
The third coin was one made of gold. Gold coins were rarely accessed by the middle class unless they cut meals or cut expenses to afford it. It was the main coin for the upper classes of society and was used frequently when making big purchases.
The fourth and most valued coin was platinum. Platinum coins were rarely seen, even by the higher echelons of society. They were only used by the highest-ranking nobles and merchants who were successful; and even then, it was rarely used.
The ratio of the coins from platinum to gold to silver to copper was 1: 10: 1,000: 13,000. One platinum coin was worth ten gold, one gold coin was worth one hundred silver, and one silver was worth thirteen copper. Each coin regardless of its value had the symbol representing the god of fortune, which was a wheel. And on the other side, it had the symbol of the merchant's guild.
After learning about all of this, Ainz asked to compare his gold coin to the gold coins of this world.
Upon hearing his request, the chief went out and brought a balance and measured the coin Ainz handed him earlier.
"Amazing... This coin is worth about three gold coins..."
"Is that so..." was the only response he gave in return.
Woah! I'm rich! I'm rich! I'm rich!
Having his emotional outburst in his head, a wave washed over him; and when it receded, all his emotions went with it.
But I can't use them for no reason. Of course, I'm not in Yggrasil now.
"Chief-dono, could you tell me the history of your village and more about the countries surrounding us, particularly the one your village is a part of?"
"Sure. Where to begin though.." He started to rub his beard and think where to start. "...Our village is called Carne Village because the founder was a man named Thomas Carne. He was an adventurer from the times of the Evil Deities, but settled down here after they were all killed by the Thirteen Heroes..."
Evil Deities? Thirteen Heroes? I'll have to look into this more...
"...As for our nation, well we're part of the Re-Estize Kingdom..." He pulled out a map, it was roughly drawn but it showed the surrounding countries and pointed to the middle where they all meet. "We're right here"
"Can you tell me about these other nations? I'm quite curious about them..."
The chief started to talk for a long time again. Mentioning the Baharuth Empire, located to the East of Re-Estize, and the Slane Theocracy that was to the south of all of them. If he could describe the formations of the countries, it would be like an upside-down T that lined the borders. But then the village chief mentioned something about the Baharuth Empire and the Re-Estize Kingdom having its yearly wars, and that the time of it was soon approaching.
"...Every year, the Baharuth Empire declares war on our Kingdom, but it's strange... They have a superior military and yet they only attack once and retreat. Each war ends as quickly as it starts, but I don't know much more about that. The only news we get about these wars is when some merchants visit... and even then, that's rare."
Strange...
"What makes you say they have the superior military? If they could overpower Re-Estize, then they would have conquered it already..."
"It's as you say Ainz-sama, there's no way a bunch of conscripts could win against legions of trained knights."
Conscripts? Knights? so that's the difference... but it's still strange...
Re-Estize has numbers while Baharuth has quality. A prolonged war would favor the Empire, but the casualties would still be high...
WAIT! he said the annual war is going to occur soon, and it's winter... could it be...
"...it doesn't make any sense..." Ainz mumbled.
Ainz rubbed his chin for a moment and thought.
" Can you tell me about this Slane Theocracy?"
"Ah sure"
The chief told Ainz what little he knew about the Slane Theocracy. He really didn't know much, other than that it was founded by the 6 Great Gods over 600 years ago and that they're a bunch of zealots who think humans as the superior race.
I should've questioned those two knights before taking care of them... There's still much information I need... Hahh what a pain. I won't throw away my sources easily next time...
They talked about other things like magic and the strength of this New World. But the Chief didn't know much about magic, and he didn't know much about how strong those knights were compared to the rest of the World.
Just as they were about to conclude their talks, someone knocked on the door.
The chief went to see who it was because he made sure he told the villagers that he was going to discuss things with their savior, so everybody knew not to interrupt them unless it was important.
When he opened the door, he saw a man with brown hair and brown eyes, around his mid-thirties.
"Uh, Chief, sorry to bother you but the preparations for the funeral are complete"
The chief looked at Ainz for permission.
He stood up and started to head out " I don't mind"
Oh yeah... I forgot some people died. And here I was supposed to save them
He felt a little guilty that he couldn't protect everyone, especially when he said he would.
The burial ceremony was held in a nearby communal graveyard. It was surrounded by a broken-down fence, and within were several circular stone slabs inscribed with people's names.
In front of the crowd were bodies covered with white cloths, blanketed over them.
It appeared that there were not enough hands to bury all the bodies at once, so they chose to bury some of the first. To the Ainz, burying the dead on the day they died was too hasty, but perhaps this was normal practice for the faiths in this world.
Ainz spotted the sisters they managed to save among the other villagers - Enri Emmott and Nemu Emmott. Their parents' bodies were among those that would be buried today.
As he watched the villagers from close by, he idly stroked the [Wand of Resurrection] hidden within his robe, debating on what to do.
He had enough to resurrect all the dead in the village, with room to spare. According to the Village Chief, this world's magic did not have the power to raise the dead. That being the case, if he used the wand of resurrection, he would create a miracle in this village
Should I keep all the villagers alive? However, if I do, they will never understand the pain of losing their family. They have lost their family now so they want to be strong, that this does not happen again. Now, if I resurrect all the dead villagers, they will never be strong.
After finishing the burial ceremony Ainz and Albedo were walking down the village street talking. They went there to see some villagers discussing some issues.
"What happened, village chief?"
"Oh, Lord Ainz"
"Some knight-like people are coming to this village."
"Hm...I understand, please gather all the surviving villagers in your house. The village chief will come with us to the square."
After a while, they finally sighted many mounted warriors along the road leading to the village. The horsemen slowly entered the square.
Some of them wore helmets, while some went bareheaded. The only thing they had in common was that they each showed their faces. All of them had swords of similar make, but apart from that, they also carried bows, javelins, maces, and other backup weapons.
The group was still in total shock from what stood before them. Should they be scared or should they feel relieved? Normally, one would feel his stomach twist from seeing an undead, but the one who stood in front of them carried himself differently. He had the pressure of a ruler or someone of similar status in the undead society. But only one thought kept lopping itself around in his mind.
These people are powerful.
He didn't need to see them fight to feel the power leaking out their bodies.
Finding Gazef Stronoff voice to speak, he addressed the group set up to greet him.
"I am the Warrior Captain of the Re-Estize Kingdom, and the leader of this Band of soldiers, Gazef Stronoff!" He spoke with conviction in every word. He gazed across the group once more and looked for any red flags that they should be alert about.
The only change after he spoke was from the human. His eyes widened and even though he couldn't hear what he said, he could read his lips enough to understand what he said
'...The Warrior Captain...'
But other than that, there were no movements, no subtle signs or signals. They just stood still as if waiting for something.
Nothing
He found nothing suspicious in their actions, and the only thing he could think of was that the Undead was standing next to the human and not trying to kill everyone.
Deciding to continue one, he chose his next words to find out who these mysterious people were.
"I have been ordered by the King to Protect the Frontier Villages from a group of Knights raiding and killing everyone... I take it you are the Village Chief?"
"Y-yes, that's me Stronoff-sama" He replied and nodded his head frivolously. He couldn't believe he was meeting the renowned Warrior Captain.
Seeing his carefree nature, Gazef eased a little, then asked what everyone wanted to know.
"And may I know who it is standing next to you?" There was no alternative meaning in this. Seeing how the Chief could act so freely being around this person only increased his curiosity about who this person was in Gazef's mind.
"Ah!, um, this is-"
"There is no need for that Chief-dono." He interrupted and placed his hand on the Chief's shoulder.
Turning his face to look at Gazef, he continued.
"I am Ainz Ooal Gown, but you can call me Ainz. I'm a Magic Caster that lives nearby and happened to see these people being attacked. So I intervened and saved this village."
"And may I know what happened to those people you saved?" he asked with some malice.
The people didn't pick up on the hostility, but the armored figure did and shifted just a little. It was fast and wasn't dramatic enough for the people to notice, but Gazef felt the pressure that leaked out of these women suddenly increase. It seemed that taking this little misstep on his end could end their lives, but he didn't waver. Gazef was a man who would gladly die for this country that he loves and for the King that he serves. But still yet, putting his men in danger was foolish on his end, and was starting to regret it. He didn't mind dying but he wouldn't throw away the lives of his men for nothing.
As her killing intent started to build up and the band of soldiers could start to feel it, Ainz waved his hand, motioning for her to stop. When the pressure died down, Ainz answered his question.
"They are all safe, they are inside the village warehouse. We were unaware of your intentions and we have taken the necessary precautions to take out insurance to protect them after such brutal damage."
"Yes warrior captain, Ainz-sama is right!" Village chief said
Gazef dismounted from his horse and landed on the ground. The dirt around him puffed up into a cloud as his feet met the ground, showing just how much mass he had. Gazef stepped forward and shocking everyone, he bowed.
His men watching with wide-open eyes as their leader, someone they all looked up to, began bowing to an undead.
They just met so he wouldn't know the positions of each other, but even then, to bow your head was a sign of utmost respect. Most of the people here didn't understand why he was doing this, but only a few who truly knew Gazef understood.
Even if he was the Warrior Captain, he respected everyone who goes out of their way to help the common folk. He wasn't a person that dwelled in politics, so to him, status and birth didn't matter. As long as someone was willing to aid those in need, he would show the proper gratitude.
"Gown-dono, I apologize for my behavior before and am truly grateful for what you have done."
This change in nature was awkward at first, but it gave Ainz a good understanding of his character.
"It's no big deal. If you're so grateful, you could help me too. You see, I have secluded myself in my home for a long time and ignorance has gotten the better part of me. If you could tell me about the recent state of the world I would appreciate that."
He is a Warrior Captain. So of course he knows more about this world than the village chief. Maybe he knows a lot about the Slane Theocracy too.
Gazef stood up proud and with dignity. "Of course, it's the least I could do. And I'd also like to hear about the nasty bunch who attacked this village."
Yes! Depending on what I learn, this will save sooo much time in information gathering
"Very well, but before that, may I ask that your men disarm their weapons. These villagers have been under a lot of stress due to the recent events and I'm sure seeing weapons alike the ones before will trigger unwanted memories."
"I would like to follow along, but I can't agree to this, as this sword I bear was gifted to me by the King. But I will make sure my men do so."
"Thank you, I understand this request is a bit odd since you are soldiers. Chief-dono, do you mind if we use your house again?"
"N-not at all... Please, you're always welcome to my house." The chief had been listening intently as this conversation between their Savior and the Warrior Captain would be told to the next generations to come. He started heading to his house with Ainz following along, but Gazef paused a bit to give orders before following along.
"Leave your weapons at the village center, and help the villagers with whatever they need!"
"SIR!"
With his orders given, he made way to catch up with the other two at the Chief's house.
Chief's House
All three men sat in chairs around the table. Like before, Ainz sat in the same spot and so did the Chief. Gazef sat across Ainz and next to the Chief, where the Chief's wife sat in their talks with Ainz.
Before they began, she brought them all cups of tea. Of course, Ainz being and Undead, couldn't drink any and it was wasted. But he still felt bad. The technology in this New World, or at least this village, was primitive like during the Medieval Times he read about in the Old World. Because of this, he understood that for the tea to be served, she had to gather firewood to burn the fire on, use flint and steel to start the fire, and wait a long time for the water to boil. Making tea in this world wasn't nearly as simple as it was in his past.
When they started to discuss the things, they started with the village and the Knights who attacked them.
When they moved onto the topic of the Knights, Gazef wanted to see if the armor worn matched the description of the knights he was chasing. To this, Ainz agreed and reached into his inventory and made it look like he reached into his robe. He pulled out a full set of armor that he took off their bodies.
It was a basic piece of metal armor made of iron. It did, however, have minor enchantments of light, and magic resistance on it. Just things to make its weight reduced and more durable to attack spells, but nothing extraordinary or special to Ainz or anyone from Nazarick; but by seeing Gazef's reaction, he could tell Magic was scarce and limited to the Kingdom, and perhaps the world.
After showing the armor, Gazef thanked him and began talking about the Kingdom and how most nations functioned.
He started with his least favorite... politics.
At first, Ainz was hesitant, as this could be a trap. Normally one wouldn't talk too much about the inner workings of a Kingdom, but Gazef assured him this was common knowledge even amongst the peasants.
"The country is ruled by the King and nobles, but right now they're divided... The royal faction is trying to keep the King in power and the nation stable; while the Noble faction wants to overthrow him or gain more power... Either way, it's just a game for power..." he said in a tone full of sorrow
He then moved on talking about the social classes and the state of life. Eventually, Ainz brought up the topic of the Evil Deities and Thirteen Heroes he heard of earlier. Unfortunately, even Gazef didn't know much. But he did learn that most of the countries started after that era.
Many nations were destroyed by their attacks, and all of history was lost with it. The only country ruled by humans that lasted longer or have somewhat a chance at knowing more was the Slane Theocracy.
They talked more about the Re-Estize Kingdom, and he learned that the nation to the north of it was full of Demi-Humans and ruled by Dragons.
Dragons were some of the most powerful bosses in YGGDRASIL, if they're as strong as the game then this could be troublesome...
Just as he was lost in his thoughts, he received a telepathic link from the High Wraiths watching the surroundings.
[Ainz-sama, a group of people is approaching]
[Do they look hostile or have any intentions to attack? Can you describe what they're wearing?]
[Yes, they have summoned a group of Angels and are forming a perimeter around the villa-]
[Did they find any of the Units?!] he interrupted
As of now, the level of the Native's of this New World is low and weak. Even the Warrior Captain was only slightly above level 30, he isn't even considered a threat to Nazarick. But this data is only based on limited exposure. If a group was stronger and could detect the stealth units, that would mean they are vastly stronger than the people he encountered now and people to be more cautious about. The stealth units weren't that high in levels, ranging from 40 to 50. But if they were spotted, then that group's level was probably in their mid 30's at least.
[No, they were checking for traps and other presences but we maneuvered around not to be spotted. What would you like us to do?]
Ainz was just listening intently at these turn of events
[Just watch them for now]
Ending his message, he looked back to see two worried faces.
"Ainz-sama? are you alright? you just dozed off in our conversation..." the chief was the one who asked, but they both looked concerned.
"Is that so... I was just thinking of something"
"Well, going back to bef-" As Gazef was talking, someone barged into the room.
This seems all too familiar - thought Ainz
"C-Captain! We-We's surrounded!" the soldier shouted. It was clear that he was tired from running. He most likely had spotted to group outside and came to report it as quickly as possible.
Gazef immediately responded and let his soldier sit down in his chair. As he began to calm down, Gazef inquired about what he was rambling about.
"There's a group of magic casters surrounding the villagers with angels."
"Angels?"
"Y-yes Captain. There's at least 30 of them."
"...The Slane Theocracy..." he mumbled
"Are you certain it's them?" Ainz asked. He was actually quite curious as to why he deducted it to be the Slane Theocracy.
"There's no doubt about it. Only the Slane Theocracy could dispatch that many divine casters... it's probably one of their elite scriptures too."
"Hoh? It seems I was right then..."
"Lord Gown, I want to make you a request. Please protect this village again. I am willing to give you whatever you want in return!"
I should seize this opportunity. According to all the information I have been able to gather about the Re-Estize Kingdom so far, they are very weak. Not so.
"Then I am claiming this village as a reward. Don't worry, I promise that I will not harm anyone in this village. I have a dream that I will create a world where everyone will live in harmony. This is the first step in implementation my dream. "
Gazaf felt a little uncomfortable as he looked at the village chief
"We don't mind! If it weren't for Ainz-sama, we would have died. He's our protector."
"I can't guarantee it. But I'll try my best to persuade the king about it." Gazaf said Ainz
"Thank you very much"
Gazef, Ainz, and Albedo were out looking through a window as they spotted the angels just above the top lines of the houses. Into the horizon, they could see the line and formation they were in.
Is that... Archangel Flames? Those are from YGGDRASIL! How are they here!? Does this mean another player got transported too?
"Then I will go now. Please take care of the villagers"
Gazaf began heading for the door.
He's just like Touch Me
When he was about to leave the house, Ainz called out to him.
"Gazef-Dono, take this with you." He stuck out his hand and in it was a small item.
"Wh-what is it?"
"It's a good luck charm."
"Well if it's a gift from you, Lord Gown, then I will gladly accept it." he flashed a smile as he placed it into his pocket.
Gazef then went on to give his new orders to his men, and Ainz just watched from the side as everything unraveled.
Carne Village Warehouse
Ainz and Albedo were inside watching Gazef's fight against the Sunlight Scripture along with everyone else. When it first began Ainz was carefully studying both sides and analyzing the way they fought.
Two things stood out to him. The first was Martial Arts. In YGGDRASIL there were no combat abilities known as Martial Arts, so he was taken aback upon seeing this warrior magic. The next was the use of Archangel Flames. In this New World, he hasn't come across anyone who could use magic until now, but still, to see the same summons as the game was surprising.
There were many unknown variables still unaccounted for and when he thought about it carefully, there were just too many possibilities.
But what if I'm not the only player here? Then how many others are here as well, and how does that explain the natives knowing how to summon the same monsters...
And then their martial arts... What other New Factors does this World have?
From his encounter with the Gazef and after witnessing parts of this battle, he came to the conclusion that he's powerful compared to the natives of this world. It could've all be a plot made by another player, but that wouldn't explain how they could use such intricate scheming in such a short amount of time. And his Stealth Units didn't pick up on any traces of another party hiding back, which only supports his theory that these people, truly are weak.
In the battle going on, when Gazef was stabbed in the back by two angels, the room filled with worry.
Scene change:
Gazef Stronoff, covered in blood, barely standing and using his greatsword as a support to help him stand.
"-Finish him off." said Nigun "However, don't attack with just one. Make sure to ensure his death with multiple angels." Gazef stands up and shouts.
"Don't underestimate me!" He then took a stance.
"I am the Kingdom's head warrior! I am one who loves and protects this country! There is no way I'd lose to bastards who want to dirty this kingdom!"
"You will die here precisely because you spout such nonsense. What can you do in that state? Once we kill you, we will massacre the villagers. Stop this futile resistance and fall quietly." Gazef's face slowly turned into a grin, and slowly he laughed. Nigun frowned at this.
"What's so funny?"
Having a hard time speaking from his wounds, he still answered. "What a fool. There is a man there in the village stronger than I."
"A bluff? Angels. Kill Stronoff."
Gazaf held his sword tight and got ready.
Looks like it's time to move.
Suddenly Gazaf was replaced by Ainz and Albedo. Sunlight Scripture was surprised.
"What? A lich"
"You insect, you have so much courage that you are comparing our Almighty Master to a lich!" Albedo was very angry. She grabbed her weapon tightly and got ready to attack Negun.
"Albedo! Stop"
"But"
"I said stop!"
Albedo calmed down
"You lich, what are you doing here?"
"My name is Ainz Ooal Gown. I saw some people attacking this village, so we came here to help the villagers."
"You thought I'd believe you. You're an Undead we all know that the undead hates living people. Tell the truth? What's your purpose?.. All the angels attack together."
"Please stop"
"Are you scared! Will you beg for your life now?" Negun said with a smile.
"I have a question. I am Undead. But you are alive, why are you attacking other living people even though you are alive? I have heard that Slane Theocracy is a nation that thinks humans are the most powerful nation. Then why are you attacking innocent people?"
"Anyways, you're going to die after a while. So I'm answering your question." Nigun smiled. "We want a war between the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Baharuth Empire. So, we are sacrificing the villagers as the cause of the war. Although we humans are the greatest nation. Even then, sometimes we have to kill innocent people. " He said the words as if he had no regrets.
"Sacrifice!" Ainz was furious. However, he became automatically calm again.
Ainz laughed
"Why are you smiling?"
"Sacrifice! Then I will sacrifice all of you to fulfill my dream. I will massacre all of you. Then I will create a world where everyone will live in harmony. But don't worry, I won't kill you now. I will capture all of you alive and collect information from you." Ainz's eyes lit up.
"Attack All Angels!"
"Negative Burst"
"What?"
"Impossible!"
"Monster!"
"P-Principality Observation attack him!" It drew its mace and slowly move towards Ainz. It used its mace swinging at the right side, Ainz blocked it with his hand holding the mace.
"Hell Flame"
'This confirms it, they are using YGGDRASIL spells... Although who taught them that?' Ainz thought before putting his attention back on the 'fight'.
"W-What...Only one attack"
"Impossible!"
"A high-level angel cannot be destroyed in a single attack"
"Captain Nigun! What should we do!?" One of the mages shouted in panic, making Nigun think about something and remembered about the Bishop handing him a treasure of the six gods in case such a situation arises.
"Then we will summon the strongest angel!" He shouted making men snapped back to reality and got some willpower.
"Albedo, ready yourself."
"Yes!"
"Dominion Authority!" A flashing blue glow from the crystal. Then a pillar of light appeared, a few seconds later there appears to be an angel that is quite bigger than the others. Everyone looked with mouths agape and with disbelief.
"Th-This... This is your trump card?" Ainz was completely broken by this sight. Using his hands, he covered his face and fell to both knees. Truly, there were no words to describe the despair he felt.
"Ha Ha! Yes, that is right, Ainz Ooal Gown! I have decided you are indeed a tough adversary. Be grateful as I have deemed worthy enough to use the sacred treasure left behind by the Gods Themselves!" he said with Pride. Seeing his opponent fall like his lifeline had been snatched away, he couldn't help but bask in the glory.
Six Gods Are they players like me? But their story is 600 years old. Yggrasil was made just twelve years ago. Ainz thought.
"...This is stupid..."
"HaAH!?" He couldn't believe his ears. His opponent was on the ground in despair, and yet he didn't show any signs of fear.
"To think you had me on guard for such Child's Play, Albedo, you can stand down..."
"...To think I'd be fooled by such a weak human..."
After having his little mental breakdown, Ainz recomposed himself and stood back up.
"L-Lies! There's no way you could defeat this Angel! Even the Gods themselves feared the might of this being! D-Dominion Authority use [Holy Smite]!"
The angel's scepter began to dissolve into particles of light, and from the sky, a pillar of raw light came down onto Ainz. Pre, white light engulfed Ainz and could only be described as holy. The blinding energy radiated that peering eyes could barely stay open.
All this damage would have ripped through the bones, burning Ainz to nothing but ash. Instead-
"HahHAHaHaH! So this is what pain feels like! Marvelous! Just another thing I had to test, now out of the way. Truly, you have my thanks." As the light started to fade, what should have been a burnt pile of ash, was just Ainz clapping his hands as he had been damaged for the first time since his arrival.
"T-this must be fake... There's no way you could come out unscathed from the power that slayed the Demon Gods!" The captain now had lost his mind. He began spitting out random nonsense that didn't make any sense, denying the proof that stood before him.
Wake me up... Was everyone's thoughts, friend and foe alike. All in one day, their minds have been completely broken by the defiance of common sense over and over again. Undead saving the living. Magic of the highest caliber causing no effect. And now, the highest order of angels rendered completely useless. This is fake, right?
"YoU... YOU FiLthy Lower-Life FoRms!..." A shriek rang out. And its source, Albedo.
"How Dare you Harm Our Lord!"
"...My master- the Man I love! To cause him Pain!? Know your Place You Garbaaage! Not even Death is a merciful fate for Youuuu!"
"Albedo, it's fine. At some point, I did need to see how taking damage felt..."
Massage[Shalltear, open a gate to where I am and send some old guards.]
[Of course, Momonga-sama!]
[Call me Ainz from now on]
[Ok Ainz-sama!]
Then a gate opened and about 50 old guards came out.
"Grab them all and take them to Neuronist Painkill on the fifth floor."
They continued to move towards Sunlight Scripture.
Scene change:Throne Room
Sitting upon the ornate throne, Ainz had just finished explaining everything that had occurred in Carne Village. He was gazing upon the rows of Guardians kneeling before him. Nobody opened their mouths to talk, and nobody showed any signs of doing so.
They really won't talk unless I do first.
"I want to begin by apologizing for leaving unannounced..." He lowered his head and paused to listen for any response. And to his surprise, he got more than he thought he would. Unfortunately, they were all protests for him bowing.
'A Supreme Being should never apologize to us lowly servants' they say, huh.
"A-Anyways, what I called you here for was to tell you the direction Nazarick will now take. From now on, call me Ainz. I have changed my name to Ainz Ooal Gown. If there are any objections, then speak your mind now."
Dead Silence.
Nobody so much as moved to that statement.
Albedo was the first to respond, bowing before him and speaking what everyone was thinking. "Ainz-sama, a name only you could possibly hold. We hear and adhere to your new name and pledge our undying loyalty to you once again."
"Very Well, [Greater Break Item]!"
The spell he used could destroy any item below a certain level. One of the flags that hung down in the throne room fell to the ground as it burned into flames. The design embedded onto it was the crest of Momonga.
"All Hail Ainz Ooal Gown!"
Cheers echoed throughout the throne room.
His first movement was his hand raising into the air, signaling for silence. "We have much to do, and as I said before, we don't know special anything about this world. That is why our priority is to gain information."
"Albedo and Demiurge, create a strong network so that we can gather complete information about this world."
"Of course Ainz-sama!"
"Aura, observe the forest near Nazarick and make a map of it. If you find anything threatening to Nazarick there, let me know."
"Of course Ainz-sama!"
"Shalltear, you will gather complete information about martial arts and look for people who are very good at using martial arts."
"Of course Ainz-sama!"
"Sebas, you and Solutions will collect complete information about the Re-Estize Kingdom as soon as possible. It is likely that we will be at war with them soon. And you also collect a map of this world and give it to Albedo, and Albedo you copy that map and give it to all the floors guardians."
"Of course Ainz-sama!"
"Mare and Cocytas, you will protect Nazarick when all the floor guardians are busy with their duties."
"Of course Ainz-sama!"
"Remember we don't know anything special about this world. So be careful. And Demiurge, I want you to focus more on the Slane Theocracy.I think they can be a threat to us."
"Of course Ainz-sama, I won't let you down."
Then other Floors guardians said, "We promise, we will never disappoint you, Ainz-sama!"
"Very well my floor guardians spread the name of Ainz Ooal Gown all over the world."
Then Ainz stood up
"Greater Teleportation!"
AN:I haven't read the story a second time since I wrote it, so I'm sorry if anything goes wrong.
