Chapter 1: Psychic Camping for novices

Ah, Whispering Rock Psychic summer camp, took a well thought out escape involving my fastest alien, a Distraction and a hole lotta fish, but in the end, it was worth it. Sneaking around in a different form, I haven't had that much time to practice with my psychic powers. So I'm relying on Physical Skill, just with a bit more...Alien.

The form I'm currently in is called 'Upgrade', a blob with Circuitry patterns that glowed orange, something I can turn off. Form what I understand, this form is the origin for my Tchnopath Powers.

Well any way, thier about to begin...

"The human mind." a man named Coach Oleander said, he kinda runs the place, "Six hundred miles of Synaptic Fiber, Five and a Half ounces of Cranial fluid, fifteen hundred grams of complex neural matter..." man I'm already recording this using the Ultimatrix, "A three pound pile of dreams, but tell you what it really is, it is the ultimate battlefield...and, the ultimate weapon." I have the real ultimate weapon on my wrist, just wait until you see it. "The wars of this modern age...the psychic age...are all fought somewhere Between these Damp, curvaceous undulations." That is true, and I'll be fighting with a equally strong body. "Form this day forward, you are all psychic soldiers, paranormal paratroopers! Mental Marines who are about to ship out on the greatest adventure of their lives!" He points to a spot on the brain projection behind him. "THIS IS OUR BEACH HEAD!" He then points to his temple. "And this is your landing craft. You shall engage the enemy in his own mentality! You shall chase his dreams, you shall fight his demons, you shall live his nightmares!" Man that's gonna be so fun with my forms. "And those of you who fight well, you will find yourselves on the path to becoming international secret agents, in other words..." Here it comes...

"PSYCHONAUTS!"

Man, that will never not be awesome, "the rest of you...WILL DIE!" Ok, on second thought, might wanna turn the dial back a bit, Coach, one of the kids is gonna-"Waaaaa!' That. Burst out crying.

Lucky thing that one of the most compassionate and caring psychics is here, Miss Vodello is a master of levitation and kindness, she can calm the the poor kid down...hopefully, "Oh, Morry." That was Sasha Nein! One of the best and most focused Psychics in the Psychonauts, "children, you are not going to die."...I'm sorry, Miss Vodello, but even you know that's a lie and someone is likely to die. "Well, if your not a psychonaut, then you might as well be dead!" What the hell, Oleander!?

"They told me this was a summer camp!" The boy who was crying said, for some reason, he had a tinfoil hat on, the girl next to him turn to look at him, "Ah, Dogen, don't worry about Ol' Coach Oleander. I've been coming here for years, and trust me...nothing ever happens." She said to the now named Dogen, she seems nice.

The boy behind her, not so much, "Yeah, Dogen, Lili's right. You don't got nothing to worry about..." so her name is lili, what a lovely name, wonder what that jackhole is gonna say next... "'Cept for that giant monster in the lake I was telling you about." Yep, this idiot's gonna be troublesome.

"Bobby Zilch! I told you to stop scaring people with that ridiculous, old legend!" Yeah, Zilch, shut up. "I don't want the kids to be afraid to go out at night and Walk alone on the perfectly safe paths of Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp." Something about that seems Off to me. "And we don't want to scare our special guests, superstar Psychonauts Sasha Nein and Milla Vodello!" 'CRACK!' Ah curd, I just had to snap a twig.

"LAKE MONSTER!" I'm sorry for the scare Dogen, but bobby is probably pissing himself so yeah.

"Formation!" Crap! Their gonna grab me...gotta...RESIST...moving will make it harder.

'Snap! Crack! Crunch!'

"It's...Resisting." I'm...putting...all my...Focus onto this...

'Wossh!' Crap! They got me...oh well, I guess I can introduce myself...might not wanna do it as upgrade.

"Quickly, bring it over here." I floated passed all the campers/trainees to the front, where the superstars got a shock.

"What is that?" Sasha asked, "I don't know, let me try something." Oleander replies before he looks directly at me. And then... "beep, bop bop, beepty boopty Bum!"...I extend my head and head butted him in the danglers "hey! I may look like one! But I am NOT A alien you can just try some random language on!" I said, Psi-blasting the coach before jumping out of the psychic hold.

"Wait, if you're not a alien, then what are you?" Sasha asked, before anyone else could talk...

A topaz Flash filled there visions, and I stood in my true, human skin.

"My name-"starts with a D!"-is Razputin." Coach Growls at me in anger, Lili looks at me in Fascination and the other kids don't look like they've gotten what they just witnessed down. "But everybody calls me Raz." I sound like a badass, "Please don't kill us, lake monster!" Damnit Dogen.

"Compelling." Sasha said as he took on a thinking stance, his two Colleagues also looking at me in intrigue. "Armoured like a tank!" Why, thank you Coach, I'm taking all this in the coolest pose I got. "What power, and Shape shifting to boot!" Impressed, Agent Vodello?

"Sorry I'm late. I don't want to Disrupt your Briefing, Agent Oleander." I say, I'm impressed with how much my ball sack grew form that one sentence alone. "Agents Nein, Vodello." I'm being quite respectful for a intruder. "Please, continue." I go to take a seat with my fellow campers.

"Where do you think your going!?" The bench, Duh. "You've broken into a classified, remote government training facility." Oh, come on Nein, I know that deep down, your impressed.

"I know! Isn't it great?" I say, with all the excitement in the world to boot. "Listen, why don't I just sit over here quietly with my Fellow Psi Cadets..." I take a set next to Dogen on his Left, then I talk to everyone. "Hey, How's it going? I like your hat!" The last one was directed at Dogen in particular.

"We need to have this young man taken form here immediately." Uh oh.

"I'll call his parents." Oh no no no!

"What? But...don't you train Psychonauts here?" I say, I mean, yes they do but..."yes darling, but-" I'm sorry, Miss Vodello, but I gotta interrupt, "to soar across the astral plane?" This gets everyone intrigued and thinking, "To wage Psychic warfare against the enemies of free thought?" I say, this is going somewhere good. "That is what I wrote on the front of the pamphlet..." Oleander said, he has the last word here, so here goes nothing...

"Those words are why I'm here, Coach Oleander. Do you remember what you wrote on Inside of that pamphlet?" And now to quote the greatest speech I ever read...

"You were born with a special gift. But the people around you treat it like a curse. Your mother is afraid of you, and your father looks at you with shame in his eyes." The only thing I focus on is the reflection of myself in the Ultimatrx Dial. "Come to Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp, and you can show them all!" Memories play out in my mind, all times Ben fought his greatest enemies and won despite the odds. "Back home, your powers make you a loner, an outcast, a circus freak." That last one cuts me deeper then any blade shall. "But in this Dojo, in this Psychic Dojo, they make you a hero."...no matter how many times I hear it or read it. It always stays the most beautiful piece of poetry I have ever heard.

Coach starts to cry a bit. "Get That Soldier a bunk!" Yes...

(Later)

"Now darling, you can stay here for a few days until your parents come for you. But we can't let you participate in any paranormal training without your parents' consent. I'm sorry." Damn it

Me and Dogen talk a bit, I learn he can make heads explode-which is both cool and Disturbing-and I chose a bunk for me to use.

"ALRIGHT, MAGGOTS!" Nope, tuning this out, I need my sleep.

(The next day)

I look at the smelling slats I got form one of the kids in Oleander's mind, I'm gonna report for basic Braining, the first step to becoming a Psychonaut. The kid who gave me these is gonna go home...poor kid.

Also, screw that big eared kid and Afro Mic wanker Zilch.

Anyway, I walk up to Oleander, "Sir! I have come to report to basic braining, Sir!" I said, Saluting whilst I'm at it. "You sure, kid? The only thing I can promise is that you won't be harmed or Killed in my mind." Coach said, his tone dead serious.

"Sir, I think you'll find I am well Equipped for the task at hand." I said, Ultimatrix, back me up. "User Razputin is correct, I have also contacted agents Vodello and Nein to view and evaluate user's Performance as well." What, wait?

"Morry, We got a call form here saying that Raz wanted to take basic braining, is this true?" Milla asked. Her tone suggesting she did not like my plan.

"Look, I know how stupid this is an-" I was cut short when there phones rang and they answered, a few seconds later and the two put there phones away. "Well, Razputin, it seems it is your lucky day, HQ called and asked that we had you go through basic braining, should you pass, you may continue to train here." Nein said, I nearly jumped up in joy.

"Well kid, are ya ready?" Oleander asked me, I nodded and he took off his hat, reviling the Psycho-portal on his head.

"It's go time." I said as I put on my goggles, this is it..."Your late, Solider, now come in here and give me 20." Coach said as he pulled into his mind, and more importantly...

My first trip to the mental world.

When I landed, I saw a fellow cadet with me.

"So...this is the mental world..." I said as a hologram copy of me popped up. The avatar of the AI that's usually confined to the Ultimatrx. "It bares a striking resemblance to a dentist office."Ulti-yes, that's what I'm calling him-said, and my response?

"A mental dentist office." A projection of Coach Oleander popped up on the wall in front of us. "It's a reciting office, kids, and I'm here to recruit you for the greatest job in the world. Being a Psychonaut." He said as me and Ulti stared with pure determination in my eyes and nothing in his, as the kid next to us just stared slack Jawed. "It's about Fighting a war for mental freedom! Are you ready to face torture, Insanity and death?" The Coach asked, I raised Ultimatrx. "Cuz this your last chance to Chicken out.

"Ooh! Me sir! I'd like to chicken out, please." The boy next to us said, what the H-E-double hockey sticks man!? "TOO LATE SOLDIER!" What, I thought he said-oh you know what, never mind...missed what the coward had to say to this.

"There's only one way out of here: FIGHTING!" He said, looks like I really need to make us with what I got, too bad I don't have anything with super strength. "I want one of you Chickens to sock me square in the Jaw! But I warn you, once you do, the war is on." Then consider this war...On.

"If that's what you want...then I'm not gonna Sock you, no no...I'm gonna Blast you square in the jaw!" I say as I give Ulti the mental command to transform me into one of my forms...

The result? A crap ton of electricity blasting the wall down, there I stood. What once was a human now turned into a battery like alien, large eyes full of Mischief, a grin that'd make a Cheshire Cat proud and Ulti's Dial on my head. I call this form...

"B-B-B-BUZZSHOCK! Ahahahahahah!" I laugh like a manic, noticing Miss Vodello and Nein watching my outburst of energy. It's time to start the show. "Try to K-K-Keep up!" With that, I zip outta there like a Ribbed bat out of hell, just with electricity.

However, I'm not very good at...Flying and end up crashing. "...N-Note to Self, P-Practice flying more." I get up form that little fiasco and continue with the course, but I might need to change forms later. I run into a block with that moron: Bobby Zilch.

"Well, this is Stupid, that form is twice as stupid." The result of that? Me delivering a potent shock to him. I dance around a bit going 'eheheh-click-ehehe', my new victory taunt. I jump down and there's lili with a...meat plant?

After some small talk, I found out she saw the plant in her dreams. I offered to look into that but she politely declined...but I did hear her thoughts and how she saw me as cute and to just shut up and kiss her.

Service to say, I was slightly surprised, but I shook it off and continued. There was a secret route, which I took, some platforming, buzzshock's weakness, I decided it was best to do with my human form. After some more platforming. I got to a Plane. After a few moments with a fellow camper talking about a dog...I kick the plan door open and jumped.

"This was a...decent plan, user." Ulti said, his voice unsure of me...well that kinda hurts.

We land and-"RAZ!" Oh boy, after a few seconds talk, I learn of the mini game set up here, if I Destroy 50 targets within the time limit of 50 seconds, I'll be able to continue. And the 2 cadets I just had the displeasure of meeting will also be cheering me on.

But 50 targets in 50 seconds? Gonna need to be fast...really fast...it's time. "Ok, looks like I need to change form." I say as I bring up my current 10.

That's all 10, my most powerful is Shadow Flow. My fastest is Flash Step. The one I'm gonna go with is Flash Step, "Ok, Coach, prepare to be amazed!" I said as I slammed down the Dial...

(Transformation Sequence)

Raz's body glowed Magenta as navy blue Crystals started to burst form his skin, Ulti's Symbol came to his face as crystals covered it.

What was left was a tall, Skeletal being whose face had a Dimond shape, Navy blue crystal with a magenta glow. His single eye is the Dial seen on the Ultimatrix, his arms and legs have turned into blades.

(End sequence with Raz scraping his sharp arms together, magenta sparks coming off as the sharp sides slid together, then he jumped into a running pose)

"Flash Step!" I shouted as I stood tall and proud, my single eye glowed as I charged up, the seconds started and 5 targets popped up, exactly 1.2 Nano seconds later, they all got sliced in Half. Coach's eyes widened in shock, the superstars had nothing but shock on there faces, Sasha's Glasses Slightly coming off, showing his left eye. Full of Shock.

The next few seconds were like this, those two very annoying pests 'cheering me on, after I was done. The Coach gave me my hard earned reward.

And whilst I wasn't expecting him to blow two pains in my ass-tral projection to kingdom come whilst simultaneously opening that path, I consider this victory well earned.

I ran at a slow pace, which is still pretty fast for Flash Step, I came across a vault like creature, thing was blue and was just a Vault with eyes. "You see that vault? That holds the mind's secrets, enemies are not allowed to have secrets during war, so bust it open. I got nothing to hide." Coach said. Nothing, "Nothing, Huh? Well, let's see what this nothing is, shall we?" I said.

I slam myself into the vault, what I saw was called "Oleander's Pride".

(Oleander's Pride)

"I Shall Plant this flag in the name of freedom!"

"Charge! Don't let there numbers Intimidate you!"

"Die! All you Assholes, DIE!"

"Taste my fury, you sea Dogs!"

"Here you go, Son." 'Thank you, mister!'

"Gentlemen, I salute you!"

(End)

No wonder this is his pride, it has all his success in it. "Interesting." I said Running Ahead of everyone else. Normally, I'd be awhile but after being called a pig by Coach, I decided to Set a speed record.

I found myself at the mercy of a machine gun, however, I'm more then just fast in this form.

Laser Beam! BOOOMMM!

"Laser Beams on top of super speed, Impressive." Nein said, I ran up to the gun-ker and Zilch came out. I jumped down after blasting him in the butt.

What I was met by, a trapeze. One thing I've seen one too many times during my Life. It's good to see the smiles of the crowd, not gonna lie.

"Woo WHOOO!" And it is really fun to use my acrobatics with Flash Step, swinging, Spinning and Flying without the power to do so. It's all too fun, and when I go, I go, my family were Circus performers, so I learned form the best...

Man it's hurts to think about the past. Anyway, after a bit more platforming, I land on A grind rile. One of the funnier things in life.

Riding down, Collecting figments and all around happy times, what could make this better?

"Hey, new kid. Your not getting past me!" On second thought, "yeah, how about this?" I ask calmly as I blast him with a low power Neon beam, doing my new taunt the rest of the ride.

And no-...you gotta be Kidding me.

"Ah, the old rolling obstaclecourse. Now, what you gotta do is...heheh, oh who are we kidding. You An't completing this, give up. You'll still get a Participation award when your old man comes to pick you up." Coach said, his voice taunting me...

Ulti, Heatblast.

My body bursted into flame, the Crystals taking the shapes needed to make a pyronite body. "Heatblast!" I yelled as I raised my fists to the sky, "this burning rage...this intense flame, I shall conflagrant with pure, unrestricted power." I said as fire built up in my hands, and then...

I took Flight, having read iron man comics. I diced my best chance of flying with Heatblast was to use both the rocket boots and Gun Gauntlets. By releasing the flame in a contained, continuous stream of flame.

I just flew over the Obstacle Course form hell, after landing. I transformed back to human, rid down a rail and was meet with a big, well lit room, agents Vodello and Nein sitting on two benches and Coach standing between the two benches.

"Well, well, well, I'd never thought I'd see the day that someone would beat the whole course." Coach said. Impressed with my performance, "well done, darling, you did so well!" Vodello said, I will admit, fells good. "Exemplary work, Razputin." Nein said, have to day, the genuine impress in his voice is oddly satisfying.

"Thank you, agents Oleander, Sasha and Vodello." Ulti said, his sudden appearance getting various reactions.

"Well, you have earned your place here. Your first Psychic Merritt badge has been well earned." Nein said as he passed a Badge with a brain on it to me, my first Psychonaut Merrit badge.

(Podium scene)

Raz Stands on a podium, he puts his left hand to his temple, two fingers out stretched, and his right hand forward. The Ultimatrix glowing orange, then the view goes to his back, the badge floating onto his bag.

(End scene with Raz spinning in place, once he stops, he holds the Ultimatrix up, his smile overflowing with determination.)

"Good job, soldier. Now if you excuse me, I left some good men back there." Coach said as he just shuts down standing up...ok.

Then big ears came to bother me and Bobby decided to be a pain in my ass. Then Nein walked up to me.

"Your Performance was optimal and Impressive, but you could use some work on your flight powers." He said, I agree with him, I need work. "If you want, come over and I'll give you some control lessons. Here." He continued as he passed me a button, like, the type use to make a plush bear's eyes. "And remember, Isolation can lead to Important discoveries..." he finished as he floated down to the ground.

"Ulti, what does he mean by that?" I ask, Ulti's core flashed a few times before he gave a answer, 'Scans indicate ageodesic psycho isolation chamber on campgrounds, why they have one here in the first place, my best bet would be that it was used to contain Psychic intruders." Ulti said, he's not wrong about intruders. I mean, I snuck in, didn't I?

'Scans also indicate a tunnel system underground, you'll find the entrance in the tree stomp...here.' Ulti added, marking a map with a X on a tree stump, I go over and notice a grate covering it.

"That's strange, who would grate up a tree stump?" I ask no one in particular, using my Telekinesis, I pulled the grate off and jumped down...into a mine cart with a computer.

"Where would you like to go, agent Cell?" It asked in a femal-wait a minute, agent Cell? As in Ford Culler? One of the Elite members of the Psychonauts? Here!?

"Let's go to For-I mean, My sanctuary!" I said, if the Psycho Master himself was here, then he's likely to be in one of his sanctuaries, that's what he calls his Bases.

"Yes, noble Psycho Master." wow, that was easer then I thought.

It's a wild ride, but in the end, It's worth it, as I arrive at the Sanctuary. One of the greatest deposits of Psi-taniuim lays in front of me, or as Psyhics call them: Mother Lobes. Brain shaped stones made of Psycho reactive minerals.

In the centre stood Ford Cruller, years ago, he was in a battle that Split him apart, his other selves working around, the main Ford barley has any form left so the Psychonauts gave him a robotic body, which looks like the fusion of All For One and Darth Vader. Mask and All.

"So, you have come, Razputin Aquato. I am FordCruller, or as people call me: the Psycho Master: Cell." He said, despite the body looking like it had no functioning eyes, he could see me. Can this day get any more shocking?

"It can,because form this day forth..." he read my mind! What is he gonna say next!?

"I name you, Razputin Aquato, my apprentice, and therefore, the next in line to hold the title: Psycho Master."

"Wait...WHAT!?"

And on that note, we're ending the episode off, been awhile I know, so I decided to make it big for chapter 2.

Flash Step is a fan creation of mine, a alien so fast, we move at a pace so slow that a snail would move at light speed compared to humans, and light lasers.

And the issue of Flying Heatblast is resolved.

Next chapter, Upgrade gets a proper debut along with Big Chill and Ku-go.
