Chapter 2
"Maybe we shouldn't be together anymore..."
Whenever he closed his eyes her words resurfaced in his mind, followed by flashbacks of all the events that occurred earlier that day. He decided to force his lids to stay open and released some of the air he didn't know he was holding.
The brunette shaman was lying alone on his old futon, hopelessly staring at the ceiling. Right after they entered the Inn, Anna went straight to the thermals to give her and Hana a bath. Tamao said she was going to prepare the main room so that the newly arrived could take some rest, but Anna stopped her in mid-sentence and asked if she could prepare two separate rooms instead. The shugenja looked clearly confused by the request, but decided not to question.
After hearing their conversation Ryu quickly looked at Yoh hoping for some answers.
-Yoh-sama…?- but before he could continue, Yoh politely excused himself saying he was also going to take a bath in the smaller restroom and then head straight to bed.
So there he was, all alone in what used to be his old bedroom back in the days. It was still fairly the same, but with the decoration of what seemed to be a grandma's living room, which was part of Anna's marketing strategy to attract her target clients: old ladies. This thought made him smile. Anna was always so determined when she wanted something, nothing could stop her from reaching it. He found this trait of hers hilariously cute.
"Maybe we shouldn't be together anymore..."
His smile didn't last long.
There were so many unresolved things… Too many. He came to terms that he wouldn't be able to rest, so he sat up on his futon and intertwined his fingers in a mantra position. With his eyes closed, he connected his soul with the other realm searching for someone…
-Yoh-dono!- The familiar voice promptly filled the room.
- Hey Amidamaru... I am so glad to see you. - Yoh greeted his spirit friend with a sad smile.
- I am the one glad to see you alive Yoh-dono! - Amidamaru seemed very emotional - After what happened I got so worried you guys wouldn't be able to return… Your bodies were just… - He paused and shut his eyes in anguish. - I am so sorry I couldn't do anything to help...
- Please, there was nothing you could have done, Amidamaru… - Yoh said calmly. - Those weapons… Humans designed them to destroy flesh... Not even the Spirit of Earth was able to contain what happened. - Yoh lowered his sight.
- Those machineries… I had never seen such things… - He paused. - Right after the incident happened I went searching for Sati-sama as fast as I could and explained everything… They tried to locate your souls everywhere, but they couldn't, so we thought-
- Amidamaru, does she know we are alive? - Yoh interrupted in a serious tone.
- I suppose she will figure it out in no time… I was talking to them seconds before you summoned me.
- I see… - Yoh closed his eyes, just to quickly open them again and stare at the wall. - I… I need to ask you a favor.
- Of course Yoh-dono!
- I need you to tell Sati that Hao brought us back to life, but that nobody except her and the Gandhara should know.
- Hai!- Amidamaru nodded.
- And Amidamaru, please tell her… That we aren't coming back quite yet. - Yoh looked up at him.
- Yoh-dono… You guys plan to leave it all on Sati's hand? What about Ahmed-sama, should I tell him?
- No. - Yoh said sharply, a micro-expression of rage went through his face, and it didn't go unnoticed by the Samurai. - Only Sati should know for now. Once things are settled here we will…- he stopped himself in mid-sentence - ... I will contact them directly.
Amidamaru noticed his masters' weird behavior, and lowered his position so to stay right beside Yoh.
- Yoh-dono… What's happening? Where is Anna-san and young master Hana?
- I… - his cheeks started to heat up, he clenched his teeth trying to prevent tears from forming, but it was worthless. - ...I really screwed up this time, Amidamaru…

NOTES:
Ahh you guys! I forgot how nice it was to write small stories...
Gosh its been what? 12 years since I've last written a fan-fiction? That's how transcendental Shaman king is in my life. Hahaha
I didn't find a reply button in the comments section so I will be replying them down here, ok? :)
To Elhana Lupa
Hi Elhana, Its super nice to meet another old-times fan!
I am glad you like the story and I completely agree with you! I remember it really broke me when I learned Yoh and Anna had to leave Hana behind, erase his memory and on top of that curse him with Onis. I wonder how much Takei hasn't revealed yet, but I was hoping he would at least let Anna and Yoh try and make things differently for their child... But oh well, I guess he wanted to show us that even Yoh and Anna had to face the reality of becoming adults: having very little control over things hahaha.
And even though they were mature beyond their age, being together for so long plus being parents at such an early age would've required a lot of effort so to make the relationship last. Idk... I wanted to play a bit with how their relationship could have changed and matured in this little story. :)
Now, about the new Anime... Just like you, I had high expectations. Haha So tbh I am a bit disappointed with the overall pacing they are making things. But I heard that some new fans are really enjoying it, so maybe it is just my old gramma fan meter asking for a slower pace? Hahaha Idk... But I am still happy that the fandom is starting to warm up again, and that this Anime will (hopefully) stay closer to the Manga than the 2001 version. (Which for me, the old one was a huge animated fan-fiction with great music tracks hahaha).
Thank you for your comment! :)
To Amandapyle93
