One evening, in the southern sector of Rio De Janeiro, only a few meters away from Leblon beach, stands the residence of the surf club ''Go!Brasil!" which is also the home of the Melo family. Pedra Melo and her friends and teammates Maria Silva, Jeanne Rocha and Pia Oliveira were painting the surfboards that Pedra and Pia had given a second life. The young brother of Pedra, Adriano called them:
"Girls! The meal is served!"
The girls put down their equipment and went to join. All the other club members and Pedra's family were waiting for them there, in the dining room and in the living room. Tonight, friends and family gathered to celebrate Adriano's birthday. But Pedra, Pia, Maria and Jeanne were in no mood to party. The TV is on to watch a national journalist channel. Like all the other journalist channels, we only speak about the Olympic games which arrives next month, the Brazilian athletes are interviewed by journalists from different TV channels, even they appear in Olympic and commercial advertisements as sports articles. The girls prefer to stay away, they eat in the workshop of Pedra.
"I don't understand why is interesting about these Olympic games..." said Pedra, taking a bite of her fish.
"Neither do I!" nodded Jeanne.
"Remember what happened three days ago, several thousand people demonstrated to call for a "boycott" of the Olympic games..." Pia told them. "And to ask for more investments in public services. The protesters are mainly teachers who have been on strike for three months. Two of them were Mrs. Pereira, Levi's aunt and Mr. Braz, a friend of my father."
There is only one thing that worried the girls more than the demonstration, it is a certain virus known by the name "Zika".
"There will soon be millions of visitors from all over the world who will come to our city, but what worries me most is the epidemic of zika which is already spreading in the south and central of America..." sighed Pedra.
She is looking at a photo frame of the whole group with the Heaven Land Warriors they came to Rio two years ago.
"If they are still there with us, they would do something."
