Chapter 2: Hachiman and Yukino Goes for Grocery Shopping.

I looked at my watch, it was 17:55 p.m. in the evening. Hold on, Hachiman, 5 minutes left until my freedom for the day. Pathetic I am, where did my dream of being a professional househusband went?

Ah yes, college. Those universities and people who said "You can achieve your dreams in college" to me are just liars. Give me back my dreams of being a househusband.

Since it's only five minutes left, I decided to just stay blank, I'm just drained. I need my sugars (MAX Coffee).

"Good work, everyone" the department manager came out from her office and clapped several times. " Time to go home, or you're going to miss the train."

' Such a good woman' I thought internally as I get up and leave the company. It was 18:01 p.m. Godspeed, Hachiman.

I took out my phone and made a call to Yuki, she picked up the phone after a while.

" Hey, Yuki, I just finished work" I said while I approached a vending machine in the lobby of our company and get myself a can of MAX Coffee, also known as condensed milk. "I'm going to pick you up, just stay where you are, alright?"

"Alright Hachi"She replied. "I'm surprised that you are already out of the company"

" Of course, who wants to stay there anyway" I could hear her little chuckle behind the phone. Seriously, who wants to work as a corporate slave anyway, definitely not me. " See you in 15, the same place ya."

"Alright, see you later" She said then hang up the phone. I increased the pace of my steps, what if some bad guys just decided to show up and snug her away. No, I won't allow that.

It is a habit of mine to always pick her up at her workplace and would go home together, unless her or I needs to work overtime. It's definitely not safe for her to walk alone in the streets.

Her workplace and mine is not far apart, a 15 minute walk is all it takes to reach her workplace. So we often just meet up during our breaks to have lunch together. Along the road, there were students who just finished their club activities, or couples just hanging around, men and women rushing home from their workplace, mothers taking their children and pet out for a walk and so much more different people. The students reminded me of the Service Club, so much memories, bitter ones and sweet ones, but those are memories that I cherished the most.

After a brief walk, I reached her workplace and saw her sitting on a bench, reading. She seems to notice me and tilted her head, giving a heart warming smile and waved at me.

"Good evening ,Hachi." She said as she put her book into her bad and stood up from the bench, and walked towards me. "It's a hard day isn't it?"

"Good evening, Yuki" I said as I hugged her for a while. Seeing her after work is always a relief to my drained body, heart and soul. Ugh, I hate work, I don't think I would last long in the workforce without Yuki. "Yes, it is. I'm really tired."

" Shall we go to grocer for some shopping? I noticed that our supplies are almost out" She asked. She asked. " Oh wait, you looked super tired, should we go another day?" She looked concerned.

"Nah, I'm fine" I said while giving her a look of affirmation.

"If you say so, let's go then, Hachi."

"Yeah, lets go, I think there is a discount at the store now." I said as I grab her hand. " Here, give me your bag, I'll carry it" I said as I reach out for her bag and she handed it to me.

The time is 18:30 p.m. The sun is setting. We talked as we walk. We complained about our bosses , we talked about our work , we talked about how our day went while walking slowly. Her face under the setting sun is just beautiful. Her little smiles that she had on her face just slowly melts my heart. I could continue feeling her warmth while holding her soft and small hand. It's just beautiful. Too beautiful. The tiredness that I have from my work seems to just wash away and I could confirm that it was moments like these that let me to continue work. Please, sunset, just last a little longer.

After a quick walk, we reached at the grocer. It was a small store at a corner of a street near our house. And indeed it was having a discount.

" Let's go" I said as I gently put our bags in the trolley. Ha, I'm just so smart. "Lead the way Yuki."

"Follow tight ya, Hachi" She said as she walked in front of the trolley.

Watching her shop is an interesting to do. She does not like instant foods or junk foods and insist that we should have a healthy diet and such. Well, I don't mind it actually. I'm not going to the hospitals often thanks to her.

We walked towards the vegetables department. She stopped in front of a basket of tomatoes. I, have an absolute bad feeling about this.

"Do we really have to buy tomato, Yuki?" I asked in a slight depressing tone. I hate tomatoes.

"Huh? Yes Hachi" She said as she turn around. " Please do not be picky alright? Tomatoes are rich in vitamin c and other minerals and is really good for you." She seems to notice the depressing look on my face.

"But there sure is other vegetables to choose from, right? right? right?"

"Hmmm, convince me." She looked determined.

"Look, the flesh of a tomato has that weird rotten texture and it's just disgusting when eaten raw. Please, just no tomatoes." My hatred towards tomatoes never decrease one bit.

" Not convinced, Mr Hachiman." She said and then gives a small sigh and started to rub her temple.

What? Do I really need to eat tomatoes? No, they're just unacceptable, the textures, the taste is just a big no for me. But if Yuki insists that I should, I think I can eat because it's for her. Aha, I'm a good husband. I thought internally.

"Yes, yes Mr Hachiman , you are the best husband in the world." Yuki said as she continues to pick tomatoes.

Of course I am, I could also be the best househusband if I am to resign my work tomorrow. Can I?

Wait, did I just think out loud again? I should really change this habit.

" Yes , you are, Hachi." Yuki gave a small laugh after saying. " Its great that you are willing to the eat those but im not going to feed you raw ones. I'm just planning to cook some Indian curry tomorrow." She continued to chuckle. "Got you."

"Yeah! We are having curry tomorrow! Please don't make it too spicy." Did I ever mention how good her curry was? Her Japanese and Indian curry are both really good. I could easily swallow 4 bowls of rice with the curries she made. Best in town, no doubt.

"Of course, I know that you eat that much spice."

She picked up a tomato, inspected it and put it back and picked up another. That's the interesting part that I said earlier. She could keep picking and picking until she gets the one she liked. It would normally take a somewhat 10 minute for her. She seems to be incredibly serious while picking them. But that's just who she is and I love it about her.

After some time, she put some tomatoes into a bag and place it into the trolley and we continued further in the vegetables department.

We then picked some onions, white radishes, shiitake mushrooms, cabbages and carrots and put them into the trolley. I am so healthy.

" Lets go to the meats department, I needed some chicken for the curry tomorrow and some pork minced meat." Yuki said while placing her finger under her chin.

"Yeah, let's go" How could I say no when she is making curry tomorrow.

She picked some chicken thighs and drumsticks and put them into the trolley. "Could you help with the minced meat? Hachi?"

"On it" I quicky dashed to the pork section and grabbed a small box of minced meat.

We then proceeded to the dry condiments area and grabbed some spices. After countless times shopping with her and her acclaimed "3 star Michelin Cook" course, I still could not really differentiate all of the spices. I could sure name some. Look, that's parsley, and that's rosemary. Wait, what's that? Whatever.

She picked some little nuts and some sticks and put them into the trolley.

"What are these?" I asked as I inspected on the little nuts.

"Those are cardamom seeds, Hachi, they are a very important ingredient when cooking curry."

"Ah, I see"

"Alright, that should be all." Yuki said, "or are we missing something?"

"I think you missed out cooking creams for the curry, I guess?" I said. " and maybe some crisps?"

"Oh yeah, lets go to the dairy section." She said. "And no chips ya Hachi."

"Alright then." I frowned. Ah, my crisps.

"Bu you can get yourself some chocolate milk." She smiled.

We then proceeded to the dairy section and grabbed what we needed and proceeded to the cashier.

"Is that all? Sir." Said the cashier dude. I noticed that his eyes are all locked on Yukinoshita.

" Yes, it is." I replied. Dude, I swear if you continue to look at her, I would punch you at the face so stop staring at her, it is my last warning. What? You still looking? You're dead. Of course I can't really just go punch him but instead gave him an aggressive stare.

The cashier seemed to notice my stares and quickly moved his eyes from Yuki. Good. "Thank you and come visit again." There was a slight tremble in his voice.

"Let's go home now, Hachi" Yuki said while reaching out for her bag in the trolley. "what do you want for dinner?"

"Hmm, what about omurice? I could prepare it." I grabbed the bag of things that we bought with my right hand and my left hand grabbing her hands.

"Really? I'm looking forward to it." Her hands squeezing mine.

"Of course, I am still quite confident with my omurice you know." I said "Now, shall we go home?"

"Yes, Hachi." She gives me a small chuckle.

I never wanted a life full of surprises nor adventures.

I never wanted a life like those manga protagonists.

I just want to spend my life with the ones I love.

No matter how simple my life goes. I would still cherish these simple but happy moments in my life, as long the person beside me is Yukinoshita Yukino.

Only and only her.
