Cassie Blake has been through a lot in Chance Harbor since she arrived; her mother died, she found out she was a witch bound her circle with 5 other witches, accidentally brought a demon out of Heather Barns which possessed Melissa and killed Nick, found out Nick's older brother is part of the circle. She fell for Jake but she found out he was a hunter who was sent to kill them. Blackwell came back, found out she and Diana are sisters, discovered Nick was alive and working with a witch hunter named Eben, before Cassie and Diana found out that Blackwell planned them so he could come back and use their circle, Nick died again and Blackwell tried to kill her circle before Diana left town.
Cassie was trying to forget about everything and while it was a nice distraction, it was only temporary. She sighed, wondering if she could make things right.
The circle were separated these days. Jake and Faye got back together, Diana left, Faye and Melissa were enjoying their solo magic and Adam was-as far as anyone else was concerned-watching the crystal skull.
Her thoughts went straight to Nick, wishing she had a chance to get to know him. She knew that he called Jake about her when she first arrived because Jake told her while they were dancing at the fundraiser.
Cassie smiled at the thought of the boy who used to live across from her. She wished Nick didn't die at all because he didn't deserve it.
She walked out the front door and drove away, walked through the woods and into the abandoned house. She remembered everything that happened here since she arrived, but 3 memories stood out to her: when Abaddon tried to kill Nick, when he came back after drowning and when Jake yelled, "Whatever he is, whoever he is, it's NOT Nick!" Cassie was shocked by Jake's outburst, but didn't know what to say about it.
The blond went upstairs where Abaddon, when he was inside of Melissa, tried to kill the boy she never knew as that memory flashed through her head.
"Cassie, are you okay?" Jake asked, from behind her, worried. Cassie couldn't look away for a couple more seconds.
She turned away from that spot, shaking her head, trying to get it out of her head. "When did you get here?" She asked, curious.
"About a minute ago." He answered as she looked at him, being reminded of Nick just by his brother standing in front of her.
She shook her head of that thought and had to get Nick out of her mind. "I'm fine. Would everyone stop worrying? I have to go." She ran out the door and went to her car, driving away before she went to the store and bought something she needed.
She went to Harbor cemetery and found Nick's grave, setting the flowers down in front of the headstone with his name on it as her eyes stared ahead when she stood up.
Sighing and running a hand through her hair, she felt like she was trespassing because she didn't know him as well as the others did due to not growing up in Chance Harbor her entire life, but she did want to say something.
"Hi, Nick. I wish I could have done something to prevent everything that happened to you. I am so sorry. If I could go back and change anything it would be not letting Diana overrule me about the binding ceremony and I certainly wouldn't have undone the sigil on Heather." She sighed. "I know Melissa misses you along with Faye and Jake, even if the latter doesn't want to admit it, and I miss you too despite never getting to know you. It's been lonely; the circle has split." Feeling better every time she spoke, even though no one could hear her, she talked about what happened after he died the first time and everything that's happened since his second death. She wanted to rant about how Diana left her behind and how much she resents her circle for abandoning her, but she knew there were more important things to deal with at the moment. Tears falling down her face, she kneeled on the ground, barely able to breath. Taking in several deep breaths, she stopped sobbing while there were still tears in her eyes.
She left after that, driving off in her car, trying not to cry again. She made it to her house and parked on the curb. Within her upstairs bedroom, she looked through her book of shadows for anything that could help her.
Finally finding something to take the pain away, she read the directions and ingredients.
"Leaves of Plantajo Major, Leaves of Aloe Ferox, Spikes of Lavender 1:6, Dried Chamomile 1:6 (flower tops only), Fresh Ginger: shredded or pulverised, Peppermint Tea (brewed cold.)" she read. "Gather ingredients in equal parts and mix into a coarse powder. Mix tea slowly until mixture becomes a very thick paste. Apply by hand or brush onto forearm, chest, popliteal or behind the ears. As it dries, recite the incantation below. Once spells are complete, a bandage like material appears..." she smirked. "Reapply as needed." She wished for the ingredients to appear and they did.
Getting the bowl and other stuff she would need from the kitchen, Cassie went back up the stairs to her room and got to work as she followed the instructions.
A few minutes later, she applied the paste to her arm as she recited the spell. "We who struggle, break and bend, make us never hurt again."
A bandage appeared over the paste and Cassie smirked before she went next door and up to Nick's old room. Memories of her seeing him through their bedroom windows and her being in the room with Jake flashed through her mind. Looking around, it was the same. Nick's jacket was on the chair. With a small smile, she grabbed it before playing some music. Thankfully, Jake wasn't in the house right now, so she could have some time to herself. Playing a song she liked that reminded her of the former circle member, she hung onto the little piece of clothing that was still there before she got on his side of the bed and cried for the first time since she found him. After a few minutes, she used magic to turn off the music and continued sobbing until Nick himself appeared in front of her.
"What the hell?" She asked herself. "How are you here? You're dead."
"I wanted to see how you are doing." He replied, worriedly on his usually stoic face.
"The circle is split; I don't think it's ever been more apparent than the night you died the first time." She frowned, shaking her head of that thought.
He nodded, frowning.
"Everything changed after we bound the circle."
