Every time Sesshomaru reached for Kagomes hand she felt the butterflies erupt in her stomach. It had been such a long time since someone had made her feel that way.

While he came and went to the village still as he pleased she had a sneaking suspicion that even when he was away he wasn't too far off.

The summer heat had crept in and Kagome wore a garment of her own creation, sleeveless like a tank top that came to her midriff and shorts...she had missed wearing shorts.

Sesshomaru eyed her carefully as he approached her.

"What?" She asked with a smirk gracing her lips.

"Did this one say anything?" He queried back.

"You don't have to. I see that look."

"Presumably, you know what I am thinking. As you usually claim."

Kagome blushed furiously at his words and only shook her head.

"Nope, no idea." She managed out. Sesshomaru simply gave his own amused smirk and offered her his arm. She smiled and accepted.

As they walked together through the forest Kagome felt as if she were the luckiest woman in the world. Hand holding had become leaning on his arm and even at times embracing.

It was everything she had dreamed of since she was a small girl. A dream she had let go of in her mate when she decided to be with Inuyasha.

They had had their romantic moments but he didn't seem to really care for the idea, he didn't understand why it was so important for her.

He openly mocked her when she enjoyed playing matchmaker when they were younger and made jokes at her expense when she asked for something as simple as holding his hand.

With Sesshomaru she didn't have to ask. He offered it and it made all the difference in the world. They made their way to a spot that they both enjoyed.

The waterfall fed into the river that ran close to the village. Trees surrounded the pool of water giving way to the clearing. The hazy mist covered the grass and rocks making it cool and comfortable in the heat.

They sat content with the others company for a time before Kagome began talking.

"Does my outfit bother you?" She asked softly. Sesshomaru brought her gaze to hers. "Because I mean, if it does I won't wear it again."

"It does not offend me. Quite the contrary." She blushed as he raked his eyes down her and back again quickly. "However, I do not wish for others to see you in such a state of undress."

"Undress? This is a full outfit!" Kagome countered. "Man, all of you just don't understand the fine line between comfort and fashion."

"Are you grouping me in with the others that you know?"

"N-no!" Kagome said. Sesshomaru took her hand in his smiling despite his best efforts to remain impassive.

"The monk perhaps? Or the demon slayer? Is this one like your friends?"

"No." She leaned into him as he edged closer until their foreheads touched. "You are unlike anyone I have ever met, Sesshomaru."

"Good." He replied nuzzling his nose against hers. Kagome closed her eyes. This was new. Her heart sang at the contact. It was so innocent and yet so very intimate. She adjusted her face and placed a light kiss against his lips.

He didn't respond simply allowed her to do it. She instantly felt as if she did something wrong. She backed away slightly.

"What's wrong Kagome?"

"Sorry I just thought that it was the right time but you didn't um, kiss me back so I guess it wasn't and I..."

"I am not accustomed to a, kiss is it?" He cut her rambling off.

"Wait, you don't know how to kiss someone?"

"It is not something demons engage in, at least none that I know."

"Oh!" Kagome never gave it a second thought. Inuyasha had always known how to kiss, she didn't realize that maybe it was something unique to humans.

"What is the meaning behind it?" He asked curiously. Kagome brought her gaze on the waterfall and thought for a moment before answering.

"Well, it's a way to show someone you care about them. It can be on the hand or cheek, forehead. A kiss can mean different things. It can be a sign of respect, that you care for someone...like between friends or a kid and their parent."

"Tell me, what did your kiss mean?"

"It can also be a way for two people to show intimacy towards one another." She blushed allowing herself to be drawn back to him.

"Is it always strictly reserved for the mouth?"

"Um, no but I like to be kissed back." She replied shyly. She grasped his hand more tightly as he leaned forward and placed his lips against hers.

He allowed her to take the lead and he mimicked what she did. Kagome knew he could hear her heart pounding in her chest but she didn't care, she wanted him to hear it. She needed him to know how much she wanted this.

Kagome stopped and rested her forehead against his chin feeling out of breath.

"You're a fast learner." She said finally feeing her body slow and her mind come back to reality.

He let out a soft laugh. It was the first time she had heard him laugh and it made her heart skip in an entirely different way than it already had been. "So, question, if demons don't kiss then what do they do?"

Sesshomaru nudged her head back up for her to look at him. He nuzzled her nose against his again and licked gently at her lips. Kagome smiled kissing at his lips and met her tongue with his.

He gasped at the sudden contact and Kagome couldn't help but giggle. She had surprised him, she caught Sesshomaru off guard. With a victory song playing in her head she backed off and smiled at him coyly.

"Seems you are a fast learner as well." He stated bringing his other hand to run up and down her exposed arm.

"Oh, I know how to use my tongue." She smiled at him before biting her lip. "I'm hot. It's hot! I'm going for a swim." Kagome squeezed his hand and jumped up practically running into the water and slinking underneath the misty spray.

"So odd." Sesshomaru mused to himself and smiled.
