Nothing surprised him anymore.

Not even the scene in front of him.

The mad princess was yelling, insulting, and hitting the mad king, while he watching them.

Did being around them too much turn him into a mad Measter, or rather a mad Acolyte.

Maybe, maybe not.

He kept watching the scene from afar while preparing the healing concoction for Lya.

He knew her fit would not last for too long since that damned poison had weakened her body.

And he was right, the she-wolf, after hitting the king's chest with her fists for a few moments, fell back to sleep again.

And for most of her raging scene, she was in king's Aerys embrace.

He never understood why the monarch's cared for her, why he chose her.

She was known to be a peculiar child. Her cruel acts and insane behavior tales have even reached Essos.

She talked to herself most of the time, made the most ridiculous claims, and would often spill mad words to anyone who had the bad luck of conversing with her.

He has even heard that she once told her mother that she should have been dead, some even say she tried to strangle her second brother for "ruining her life".

And yet, the king had chosen her, to the Starks' greatest joy.

While her kin shunned her, Aerys treated her as if she was his daughter.

"My Shaena" was how he called her from time to time. A title the queen would never agree upon.

Yandel suspected these actions were a way to repent what he did to the starks.

He even went as far as appointing him as her caregiver as soon as she entered the Red Keep, hoping he would find a cure to her mental ailments.

And because none of her ladies wished to serve her, he found himself her only companion.

She was not in her right mind, but she was good company in this cursed snake pit.

There was sweetness and innocence underneath the madness, and perhaps that was the reason why the king cherished her.

She was the same as him in another life.

After making sure that Lya was comfortable in her sleep.

Yandel and Aerys sat before the table near the window.

The king, who looked way too shaken by what happened poured them both some wine.

"She is just like us" He stated.

The only thing Yandel could do to respond to his words was to nod in confirmation.

"I want you to tell her everything as soon as she wakes up.

Prepare her for what is to come!

And as soon as she is well enough, send me a word, for I wish to talk to her" The king ordered after three cups of wine.

Aerys soon left afterward, leaving Yandel cursing his luck.

How in the seven hells would he explain everything to her. He was a great historian, a great writer, but never a good tale-teller.

He never understood in the first place why he was here with them.

One day he was a Master, enjoying his scholarly life, and the next day he woke up in his 8 nameday body as an acolyte.

Maybe the anxiety from having to modify his book so many times has taken a hold of his life, killing him in sleep.

He accepted why this happened to his mad companions, as they both had caused so many calamities and so many lost lives.

The king had burned and tortured so many innocents, while the princess was the main reason for the rebellion and all the chaos it brought upon the seven kingdoms afterward.

So why in the seven hells was he given a second chance too?
