Green Hill Zone (Present Time)

Sonic was relaxing underneath a palm tree thinking about all the stuff that happened a few weeks ago. Ever since the Dimensional War, Eggman has been missing, some have even said that he might be dead but Sonic knows that he isn't, he just knows it.

SONIC: Ah, this is the life. I rarely ever get time to just relax and take this all in. It probably won't last long knowing my luck, so I'm just going to take this all in while I can.

Sonic then gets up and decides to go for a run. He loves the feeling of running, the wind blowing in his face, the freedom, he loves it with a passion. He runs through loopty loops and parkours through the zone with ease. He suddenly stops however, as the atmosphere around him changes dramatically. The wind ceases and the air feels dead. Suddenly a portal opens in front of him and it starts to pull him in. Sonic tries to run and resist, but it is pointless as he is eventually sucked into the portal against his own will.

The Wastelands (Year 2033)

As a portal opens up in the sky, Sonic flies through the portal and falls into the sand face first. He lifts his head up and spits out the sand that is in his mouth and shakes his head. He looks around and sees nothing but desert. He gets up feeling dizzy and disoriented.

SONIC: Okay, where the heck am I?

He then hears a loud noise in the distance, he runs over to the edge of the cliff and sees what made the noise. He sees a giant ship draining molten metal from the planet's core. He sees several Parademons flying around the broken city. He sees several ships flying around in the sky.

SONIC: What the….What happened?

Sonic decides to investigate further and runs off. As he runs, all he sees is sand and desert. He runs for a little longer until he sees an old abandoned gas station. He decides to go over and investigate. He skids to a stop and sees that it is clearly abandoned, he moves to the door and opens it, only to see that it is broken from the inside. He moves to the back of the station and looks around. He is about to move on when he then sees graffiti on the wall, He sees a symbol, which resembles a fist and it has a green circle around it. There is also writing next to it. Sonic reads it aloud.

SONIC: "There is no hope. There is no saviour. There are no heroes. There is only The Maestro."

Sonic steps back looking confused.

SONIC: Who's the Maestro?

Sonic then decides to run off in hopes of finding out what the hell is going on. Sonic then stumbles upon an old highway and proceeds to run down it. As he keeps on running, he fails to notice the land mines that are placed on the highway as traps for intruders. Sonic then steps on one of the mines and as he does, it explodes. The blast sent him crashing onto the road, he rolls and bounces on the hard concrete road and then skids across the broken highway, leaving blood skids across the road. Sonic tries to get up but fails as he falls back down. He flips himself over to assess the damage he has taken. He has cuts and scratches all over his legs, arms and belly. He is in bad shape, he is in excruciating pain as shards from the mine stick into his skin. He then sees two people walk over to him, at least that is what they looked like in the distance. When he got a better look at them, he saw their deformed looks. One looked strangely like the Hulk, except shorter and the other and a split jaw with green blood dripping from it, he had tiny green tentacles protruding from his body. They both had armed LMGs in their hands. Sonic tried to get up but one of the Outlaws smacked him in the face with a gun. The other placed his boot on Sonic's chest, which hurt the hedgehog badly. He aimed his gun at Sonic's head and prepared to pull the trigger. So many thoughts were racing through Sonic's mind right now. Like why were they doing this? Where the hell was he? Is this where he dies? He braces himself for death, when suddenly a gunshot is heard. Sonic opens his eyes and sees the Outlaw which aimed his gun at Sonic's head had his own head blasted off, only his jaw remained. His body then fell, right next to Sonic and he screamed. The other Outlaw looked over and saw a figure in the distance. He then opened fire on the figure, the figure scurried off away from the bullets. He then flew through the air and pulled out a knife from his black vest and as he made his way toward the Outlaw, he sliced his neck open as he flew past him. The Outlaw dropped his gun and held his neck as he fell to his knees. The figure then walked to the Outlaw and aimed his gun at his head. He then fired the shotgun which blasted the Outlaws head into pieces and blood and parts of his mutated brain splattered everywhere. Sonic looked on in horror at what he witnessed. The figure then walked over to him and revealed himself, his identity shocked Sonic.

SONIC: Tails!?

Prower then tossed the shotgun to the side and smiled. He extended his hand to the hedgehog to help him up.

PROWER: Hey Sonic. Welcome to the year 2033.

A/N: Sorry for the short chapter, next chapter will explain what the hell is going on in this dark timeline and hopefully grant some insight as to who The Outlaws and The Brotherhood are. And who their leaders are, if you read the comics who will already know who The Maestro is. Anyway see you next chapter.
