Toro and Kuro were stumped. They managed to bring Parappa and Spike together, yet they didn't know how to increase their bond.
"They haven't spoken for a while," said Toro.
"We just need to get them to talk," said Kuro as he grabbed Toro's arm and began walking over to them.
Meanwhile, It was another case of Monkey Business in the castle. A Pipo monkey had gotten loose and was disrupting a battle. Spike was immediately called in to catch the monkey, but wasn't expecting to see Parappa in this battle as well.
"You again?" Spike Said.
"Yeah yeah i know what you're gonna say" Parappa said "save it for later, we got a monkey to catch"
After 2 hours of running around the stage and a castle, the monkey still hadn't been caught.
"Man," Parappa said panting. "I thought you were good at this anime boy"
"Well some monkeys just get away" Spike said "Like that one you stopped me from catching when we first met"
"You're STILL upset about that?!" Parappa said. "That was 2 months ago"
"And even more monkeys have gotten away since Parappa" Spike said "Why can't you just trust me?"
"Why don't you trust me?" Parappa said "I don't work for this Spector person"
"And these monkeys aren't the friendly ones from your world" Spike said "God Parappa, You're such a kid"
Parappa froze. A kid? No, He's more than that. He is a man. He didn't save his entire town twice just for some boy with a net to call him a kid. Parappa won't let it get to him. He won't, he won't, he-
"Parappa?" Spike said. Parappa realized he had been crying.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Parappa yelled before running off. Spike dropped his net. Sure, Parappa was his rival and he didn't like him, but for some reason, Spike felt hurt about what he said to the dog. Parappa was a good guy, Spike realized it now. He had just been too stubborn to admit it,
The pipo monkey saw the commotion and decided to just put itself in the net. It was too awkward, even for the monkey.
After a while of searching, Spike finally found Parappa in his room. Muffled sobs were coming from him. Spike slowly walked up to Parappa and put a hand on his shoulder. Parappa flinched and turned his head.
"What do you want Spike," questioned Parappa, still with tears in his eyes.
Spike took a deep breath.
"Listen, I'm sorry for calling you a kid," said Spike.
"Suuure," said Parappa in a sarcastic tone. Spike felt a lump in his throat.
"No really, I'm sorry. I didn't realize how much it would get to you," said Spike. Parappa looked up at him. Spike wiped away his tears.
"I guess it's fine.." said Parappa as he averted his eyes.
"Well I'm glad that's settl-'' Spike was interrupted as he felt Parappa wrap his arms around him. He felt his face heating up as he returned the hug. Parappa quickly ended the hug and shot up.
"The monkey! We didnt-"
"Already caught him, Parappa," said Spike. Parappa let out a sigh of relief.
They began walking out of Parappa's room.
"Hey," said Spike "Does this mean we're friends now or something?"
Parappa chuckled "I guess so." They continued chatting as they walked back to the cafeteria.
Across the cafeteria, Toro and Kuro were chatting. Toro had just thought of a great plan.
"No Toro we can't leave them in the woods" Kuro said "The wildlife would eat them alive"
"Darn," Toro said. "We need a better plan"
