CHAPTER ONE, PT 2:

The outbreak

POV: Gray and Juvia

-...Gray?- He knew that voice. The blue-haired girl and him turned around.

-Lyon..! I thought you were dead..!-

-Yeah, well, I thought so too... Turns out being a baseball player gives enough strength to destroy those thing's heads- The handsome boy walked towards them. He was tall and deep black eyes. He suddenly turned his gaze towards Juvia and smiled kindly -Nice to meet you, I'm Lyon Vastia and you are..?-

She gently responded the greeting with a soft smile which caused him to blush. -I'm Juvia Loxar, nice to meet you too-

-Alright guys this is no time for flirting around, we must get outta here before those things find us- Gray turned around and looked at them with a serious look on his face.

-We are not flirting...- Juvia murmured.

-And were are you planning on going? For what I can see, you two don't even have a weapon to defend yourselfs. Are you expecting to fight them with your own fist?- Lyon pointed out.

-Maybe we can get some baseball bats from the changing rooms-

-Its impossible. The hallway going there is filled with dead ones- Juvia watched Lyon say this with unbelievable eyes.

-Crap...-

Not far away, Juvia noticed the janitor's room and smiled -Maybe we can use the broom's sticks-

-That's a great idea!- Gray replied. Juvia ran over the janitor's room and opened it without hesitation, but for her surprise, she didn't just find the broomsticks but the janitor. -Juvia..! Don't..!- The dead body came rapidly from the inside and fell on top her slim body making her fall on the ground. His bloody face was trying to bite her, but she was pulling him away with as much strength as she could. She was trying to hold her screams back in order no to catch the attention of the other dead ones, but it was becoming harder and harder as her arms became weaker.

Straight away, Lyon's bat crushed the ex-janitor's head making a bloody mess and luckily stopping him. Juvia was panting in horror as she was covered in blood, but Gray grabbed her by her waist and pulled her up -You okay?- the white haired boy asked her.

-Y-yeah... I think so. Thanks- Gray let go of her and quickly grabbed the sticks. He gave one to Juvia and kept one himself.

-So, you say if we crash their heads they stop moving?-

-Yeah, apparently you just need to destroy the brain or they'll keep walking-

-And I thought zombies appeared just in movies-

-We don't really know what they are... zombies are usually slower... But this things... this things are fast-

A sudden scream came from the outside -Get inside you moron, what the hell are you doing?!- The three of them ran outside to see what was happening. A blond girl was trying to turn on a car while a pink haired boy was fighting the dead ones. -Natsu, for god's sake get in the fucking car!- Her brown eyes were intense meanwhile the boy was trying his best to take the monsters out of the way.

-Just turn the goddamn car on!!-

-I'm trying but it won't turn on!!-

More and more zombies were going towards them because of the sound the car was making. Should they go and try to save them? If things went bad they could die, but if not, they could have the opportunity to get away from there. Shit. Gray grabbed his broomstick and ran towards them followed by Juvia and Lyon. He killed the first walker and Juvia the next one. -This is so disgusting...- But more walkers were coming.

-C'mon c'omon! Get inside!- Lyon pushed Lucy to the passenger seat and managed to turn the car on. Natsu pushed the rest of the dead ones aside and jump into the car followed by Gray and Juvia. Gray closed the door behind him just on time before one of the walkers started pushing into the window.

-Ah..!-

-Go, go, go!- Natsu yelled. Lyon pressed the accelerator and ran over them. -Oh shit... that was close...- he exclaimed in relief. It was almost night. They were driving without a place to go and with a bunch of strangets they've just met. They were tired and without food. -Oh man... I really thought I was gonna die back there...-

-I told you to get your ass back on the car- The blond girl scolded him from the front seat.

-You think I didn't want that? Those creepy looking guys were trying to tear me apart, Lucy- He replied with a scared look.

-I'll be the one tearing you apart next time you try to act cool in front of those things-- Lyon cleared his throat in an attempt to calm things down.

-Guys. We may not know each other but I can tell you this is not the time to be arguing- He focused on the road once again -We don't have food, water, a place to go... not even a place to spend the night. We should be focusing on what are we going to do now-

-Yeah, you're right- The blond girl answered.

-We don't have much gas either so it should be some place close-

The car was silent. The sunset light was the only beautiful sight outside. Everything else was death. People on the roads were screaming in despair while being eaten alive. The walkers were faster than what one would think so it was pretty hard to escape from them. They were being just lucky. Now everything was just about luck.

A woman screamed from the road, begging them to stop the car and take them with them but Lyon kept driving. -Maybe we should--

-Stop and get eaten away?- The white-haired boy finished Lucy's sentence.

-I get that you wanna help, but in our current situation, we should prioritize our safety- Gray added from the back seat.

-...- she could just look down at her feet. She knew he was right.

Lyon abruptly braked making everyone in the car violently jump inside the car. -What the--?!-

-You gotta be kidding me...- Natsu said.

-The road...- Lucy mumbled. In front of them the huge road was blocked with cars that had crashed. It was a complete mess and it was impossible for them to keep moving on. -What are we gonna do now?-

-The only way is walking through it...- Juvia replied.

-Yeah, but we don't know if any of the dead ones are still there- Natsu replied.

-There's only one way to find out- Gray replied seriously.
